There are many takeaways in Westbury but for Chinese I always have picked China Cottage. Many times I have ordered chicken fried rice and it has always been cooked perfectly. Delivery has always been very quick. China Cottage is also great as the delivery fee cost is very reasonable compared to others in Westbury and as a bonus there's no minimum spend either.

How are they still in business!!! Ordered food and 2 hours and 45 mins later still no food, call them up and they say 10-15 mins. Waited another half hour and still nothing. I will never use them again! Useless!! I have noticed the reply from new China cottage has been removed. Their reply was “ thank you for the money yo, il add it to the pile!

This place survives because the local competition is even worse. There is no doubt the food is good but the service is awful. I have been a customer for years and put up with it but enough is enough. I had spent £70 on a meal. Went to pick it up they said half an hour but they were nearly an hour. I am used to this, I once waited for an hour AFTER the half an hour. I drove the 10 mins to home to find the sauces missing. This ruined two meals. I rang them, no apology. They said they would give me discount next time. I said not good enough and requested they send it out with their driver. They refused and then agreed but said they would take an hour and a half to deliver it. Turns out they had no international whatsoever to deliver it. THEY JUST DIDN’T BOTHER. I get mistakes happen but it’s how you fix them. Their arrogance is really quite something. Check out the owners reply to another 1 star review. As I said at the start, sadly for us local residents the other Chinese restaurants in the area are so poor it props up this place. Hopefully one day we will get a better owner or another restaurant set up. In the meantime after many years of support I am withdrawing my patronage. I cannot in good conscience give more money to these people. I will instead be trying Chinese restaurants in Warminster.

Best Chinese in Wiltshire without a doubt!

They are definately the best takeaway in the area. You will have to wait because they are busy but as long as you factor this in then you will not be disappointed by the consistently delicious food.

We live within walking distance of another Chinese but prefer to pay a delivery charge to get our Chinese from here. Yes, they are always busy, yes, it takes a while to get through on the phone and sometimes once you’re through you need to wait 5 mins, I’ve read all these things in the reviews, which do my head in, from my point of view, it just goes to prove they are the best and if you are wanting your food delivered straight away then the likelihood is you’ll be disappointed…there are other Chinese takeaways in Westbury that you will get it arrive quickly but it will probably be cold, tasteless and dried up. Also, even during the more manic times, nobody has ever been rude to me. As long as you allow for a wait of some kind, be it phone or delivery, you will get your food hot, fresh and tasty in large portions. And the delivery drivers are always lovely.

Asked for my dish extra hot and it was I had Szechuen Chicken. The curry sauce is spicy and not the sweet type. The chips are OK . The crispy chilli beef is good with a very tasty sauce and the rice is also good .

The food is always great. Staff are friendly and helpful. But, waiting times are far too long. Obviously a very popular place. It's the only thing that let's them down as it's usually a 45 - 60 min wait.

Had a really nice food from China Cottage. Isn't too greasy or stoggy.They can be very busy, a s that is due too the popularity of the take away. So it may take a while to get your order in, and take about an hour for it to be ready.

A below average meal. It was very greasy and not very flavoursome. I wouldn’t eat there again. It came quickly and it wasn’t too expensive. But once was enough.

Very impressed with this Chinese, took a few attempts to get through on the phone but the man I spoke to was pleasant and friendly. Card payment taken over the phone and food was delivered within half hour. The food was very nice, good portions and good value. I’d recommend!

Foods not bad but it was delivered with cold can of Drink in With the hot food and Now I have To wait for can to cool in the freezer as its really warm. Edit with the response they have given here I do not recommend this place and will not be given repeat custom

Great takeaway, large menu and friendly staff

Ordered satay prawns and special curry amongst other things . This was a new place to us over our local chinese and we was pleasantly surprised. Special curry is a new favourite and the satay was much sweeter than its equivalent. The seaweed was spot on and all in a relatively decent price . Super quick service! Thank you!

Lovely Chinese and fast delivery! We ordered at 5.30 and it was with us before 6! Chips were lovely and sweet and sour chicken balls were lovely! Got a lot of them too!

We picked up food from here last night. We were staying in beckington at the travelodge and decided to give new china cottage a try. We ordered chicken Chinese style, beef in black peppercorn sauce, fried rice and salt and pepper chips. We rang the order through and were told it would be ready in 20 minutes. The meal was ready on our arrival and came to just over £16.00. We drove to white horse view beauty spot with paper plates and half bottle of white wine....classy I know! Anyway the food was perfect. Tasty, hot and really delicious. Being of an age I have had dozens of Chinese takeaways and this has been the best by far.

Best Chinese in Westbury! Wouldn't go anywhere else. Naturally on a Friday or Saturday they are sooooo busy but its worth the wait. We ordered a chinese tonight (sunday) phoned our order through and it was with us in 30 mins. Food is always piping hot and great flavour! Value for money as portions are huge. When ever we have a chinese with my parents in Warminster we always take it over on our to them and they agree its the best they have had! Keep it up guys!!!

Ordered from China cottage Friday They said it would be 90 mins that was ok Waited 90 minutes and no food I was right by the window the whole time with my phone and dog by my side I called to be told they had come to my home and was banging on my door and window for 10 mins also called me It’s funny my dog barks as soon as you open my gate and when near my garden it tells me on my phone I was they would not come back by the rude girl on the phone don’t use them

Thought I'd try a different Chinese to our usual one.Ordered at the takeaway which is a massive mistake. Food took an hour to be prepared.If you're going to order I'd recommend running them and waiting at home.The food itself was average, chicken balls weren't great and neither was the Kung Po. Not bad but not great, wished I stuck with our tried and tested which is much better....and quicker.Grass isn't always greener

A good Chinese takeaway with a range of food products in good sizes adequate portions however the big problem is access into the building which, as a semi mobile person even I find difficult so impossible for wheelchairs

The food is always SO good and hot! Sometimes it will take a while for food to be delivered, but what establishment isn’t busy when they provide such wonderful food! but my gosh is it worth the wait! Perfect as always! Chicken in broccoli is very good. Delivery was around an hour which I think is reasonable, good things come to those who wait! Will be ordering again and again!

As far as I'm aware, this is now the only Chinese takeaway that still does delivery. There used to be a couple and the competition ensured that the food was always of a high standard. Since the other takeaway in Westbury market place has closed, the standard of food and delivery times of the New China Cottage has noticeably gone downhill. Still plenty of meat and prawns in their dishes, but the sauces seem very bland.

Food is excellent. Smoked chicken is really nice. I have been ordering from here for over 10 years now and never had any problems.

Probebly a good sign TBH. They are slow and constantly engaged on the phone when you ring at the weekend. They need to employ staff to answer the phone. Still the food is awsome if you don't mind driving to order then wait an hour.

The chicken Chou main was Brent and not edible to eat .They over charged by £5 . The menu is not true to the prices so make sure you have more money ready that it says . We rang back up to question and the phone was put down on us . Usually this service is good I am very disappointed and will not be using China cottage again .

Had a Sunday night stop over in the town and decided for a traditional (not) Sunday dinner so what could be better than a house special curry. Stacked with meat, chicken and prawns with a lovely gravy. First class

Good for a solo dinner. Proper Chinese cuisine, at a fast pace when going to pick up. In my opinion I would recommend the Chicken Hong-Kong style.

We always choose China cottage for a Chinese take away. Always cooked to perfection. The smoked chicken is out most favourite dish. Delicious.

I would like to say thanks to the young lad that delivered my tea 17/1/2017. Our driveway is really muddy and has a caravan there for a short time. I could see he wasn't to pleased but he was polite and got on with his job. So thankyou very much for that. I was shattered so for him to be kind and not refuse to walk over the mud was really good of him. I don't know his name.

Order garlic king prawns (78A). Only to be devilered not what I order so as I do I call them. Got fobed of saying that's was what I order which did not have garlic at all but did have chilli seeds and a tomato sauce which you can see in the image below also was very spice. Also was not stated on the menu due to sensitive stomach I could not eat this meal at all. The manager was not help and very poor customer service. Not very happy at all.

I moved to Westbury about a year ago now and have to say that the Chinese is very nice, it is the only one that i have tried i will admit this but if something is good why change?

I have been to various Chinese takeaways in the Trowbridge and Westbury area and none of them come anywhere close to this place. They have a wide range of dishes and some of them go far beyond your average Chinese takeaway. I would definitely recommend the smoked chicken (starter) and the chicken in hot sesame sauce - all of the other dishes I've tried have been delicious but these are my top favourites.

its been a while but this was my regular favourite, a young chappie used to serve there and knew what I wanted before i told him and I often got a small discount...but dont tell anyone. Dont know if he's still there , but He used to collect fridge magnets and i got him one from Moscow...

We always have our chinese delivered from here. The service is good and food always turns up hot. Can't complain about the chinese dishes we have, but the chips are not that good, which is a shame.

Started moving towards China Cottage a few months ago. The food is by far the best for miles around including Westbury, Westbury Leigh & Warminster. Delivery of food always on time and always still nice and hot.
