Great local old school Chinese takeaway, food was tasty and fresh. They delivered straight to our door as well, which was appreciated as our address is accessible only by foot.

As the temperature drops in London and scarves make their debut, I’m once again on the hunt for comfort food. This time, I found myself at Gold Mine in Queensway, a long-standing institution renowned for Cantonese cuisine. After 20 years of excellence, Gold Mine has earned a reputation as a go-to spot for roast meats. 🦆Special Roast Duck Cantonese Style
A signature dish that lives up to the hype. The duck was perfectly crispy on the outside, while the meat inside remained tender and juicy. A standout. 🍜Fried Vermicelli Singapore Style
These noodles were a revelation. The deep umami flavors were rich yet balanced, and the noodles were coated in just the right amount of glaze—never greasy. A complex, addictive dish. 🍚Special Fried Rice
Fried rice can often feel dry, but Gold Mine’s version was far from it. The rice was coated in a luscious coat that amplified the umami, and the combination of pork and shrimp brought it to perfection. A 10/10. 🥬Pak Choi in Oyster Sauce
The vegetables were cooked to perfection—tender yet crunchy, with a velvety oyster sauce that added an umami touch. Simple but superb. However, perhaps a bit steep at £14 for a bit of pak choi. Unfortunately, by the time we arrived at 7pm, they had already run out of Char Siu (BBQ Pork) and crispy belly pork, so I’ll be returning to try them. I also noticed that their hot and sour soup and seafood dishes looked equally enticing. The service was warm and efficient, with staff who made sure we felt welcomed throughout our meal. Excellent food. We had a large party of 18 people for dinner. Service was good and the food excellent. Be aware, parking is always an issue in this locale in London. Some good NCP car parks nearby but always book a parking space prior to travelling.

Avoid at all costs!!!!! Food was late, stone cold!! Had Cantonese chicken & the sauce resembled dishwater!! I have had many Chinese takeaways over the years and this has to be the worst!!

Orderedchicken and beef curry with no onions through food hub app. Delivery came and I can only describe as an onion curry with 4 wee cubes of chicken. When contacted offered to send another but as I was going this was not an option.my reply was well I don't know what I can do about this. Just lost a regular customer

Worst Chinese take away ever! £28, what a waste of money! Special chowmein was disgusting, so gloopy it was almost pearlescent, obviously tipped a whole tub of MSG into the Wok! Pancake rolls were soggy, chicken balls, the batter wasn't cooked properly and the sauce went straight in the bin! I give up with Chinese in Trowbridge! Even the dogs didn't want any and they are Jack Russels 🤢

We visited here as we fancied a Chinese meal and it didn't disappoint. It was nice and clean and had a huge choice. The service was quick but you did not feel overwhelmed. Very friendly staff who helped us choose our dishes, which were delicious. We would definitely go there again when we visit the area again.

Food was great , duck pancakes and ribs superb , but we were put in a downstairs room which was very cramped … tables wedged in very close together.. staff helpful and friendly. The meal was all rushed , as soon as we had finished our main course we were brought the bill and ask to vacate quickly as they had people waiting for tables… we hadn’t event finished our drinks or asked for the bill …

Awful. Chicken fried rice was more like boiled rice and the chios were obviously re-warmed and rock hard. Save your money!

Not bad Chinese! Does what it says on the tin and good portions

Rude staff , unclean and always get your order wrong , don’t bother going here when you have fernandos and Pepe’s down the road for a better price and much better quality
