I used to regularly go to Goldfish in Hampstead before it moved to Chalk Farm. Before moving it was run down space but good quality tasty food and decent service. Today we tried the new Goldfish now in Chalk Farm and the food and service was awful. Firstly, the place was freezing and we including others were sitting inside with our puffer jackets which the staff did not seem to care about. our food was brought luke-warm, not at all to its usual standard and at completely different awkward times. We had to ask for tap water many times and the servers were completely un-attentive even though there were about 8 of us total in the whole restaurant. I don't often take time to leave negative reviews but I don't recommend visiting Goldfish if this is their new standard.

Lovely delicious dim sum buffet on a sunday lunch with family.

Having read the Tripadvisor reviews we were reluctant to book but as it's local and another restaurant site was more complimentary and referred to food awards won by the chef - we plucked up courage and went. OMG we were so pleased that we ignored these reviews - the food was delicious, service was good and very friendly. We will be back!

Delicious food - really lovely friendly and helpful staff. Only down side was the missing dim sum from the menu - only ones on offer were seafood dim sum and one of the party was a vegetarian so we couldn't have them. Other than that a lovely evening.

Food was tasty and higher quality than the average high street Western Chinese restaurant but service was at best ok and prices ridiculous given the small size of the portions. A shared starter for two cost £26 for one rib each, one prawn toast triangle each, a single shared veg spring roll cut in half, a couple of spoons of seaweed and some squid. £11 for a vegetable side dish with a few bits of broccoli, asparagus stalks (no spears) and a couple of small pak choi was similarly very ambitiously priced. You know when you go out and have to start counting the prawns to make sure both of you get some? This is one of those places. Perhaps people in this neighborhood are used to paying these kinds of prices but I won't be back to do it again.

Having experienced a lot of tasting menus around the world, we were super excited to try here. The restaurant smells atrocious, there is damp on the ceiling, it smells of cats wee and dampness. The food is below average and the service equally as bad. Not surprising on a Saturday it was just my friend and I and one other diner. The staff disappeared behind an ugly brown curtain and had to be called FOUR times for the bill. We asked for the service charge to be removed. So many nice restaurants in this part of London…avoid at all costs! 😤

Has gone downhill. Some of the food was off to the point of being possibly harmful 2 out of 6 of us had stomach upset . Otherwise most dishes were good but not exceptional . The hot and sour soup was poor and the duck was a little slimy . Service average. Noodles and prawn were good . Pity .

Probably one of the best prawn dishes, I have ever heard- check out the passionfruit prawns, they are phenomenal.

The place looked nice and authentic although we were shocked to see small green dots on the pancakes that were served with the duck, clearly mould which is a sign that they were not fresh, I told the waitress who just got them replaced but no apology was offered.for something so serous you would expect more! Again! The rest of our food was nice, the duck was served last so after that we didn't really want to continue eating as we lost out appetite.

Had a great evening at Goldfish with friends. We were hungry and didn’t hold back with our ordering - there was plenty to eat and I felt it was great value. We were sat at a table near the back of the restaurant, which felt private and warm. The restaurant was busy and had a good vibe. Food, service and ambience was great. Will definitely return.

Lovely fresh food and friendly staff - can’t recommend highly enough

Unfortunately this restaurant has delivery motorcyclists continually coming into the restaurant to collect home deliveries, the door opening and closing all the time. The kitchen is situated strangely in the front of the restaurant and the noise is very loud. The service is efficient and impersonal. Too noisy and frenetic for another visit.

I have had the worst experience this evening from this restaurant. I ordered seafood soup and sweetcorn crabmeat soup. Guess what I received. Half a pot of brown broth, no seafood and half a pot of sweetcorn soup, no crabmeat. I am really appalled that this restaurant is on Deliveroo. Deliveroo were no help when I complained. Told me to take things up directly with the restaurant. Goldfish restaurant told me I had to take things up with Deliveroo. All in all I am the loser and Deliveroo and Goldfish Hampstead are the winners

It’s becoming one of ours local favourites - great food , service is adequate and friendly but great value and less than 5 mins home not bad for true Cantonese Chinese food.

We went to this restaurant for dinner. It is looking tired and we asked to move from our table as there was an awful clanging noise from the air conditioning. The place seriously needs money spent on it….seats with plastic where they have broken and covered up with cushions. It is not disabled friendly with the banister going downstairs to the toilets suddenly stopping so you need to cling onto the pipes on the way down. The stairs are steep. The food was served all at once. Consequently it was stone cold? We had ordered two different set menus. The duck with the pancakes was not shredded but lumps of duck skin and hardly any duck. The price is expensive for what we were given and our soup tasted of vinegar. There were no liqueurs on offer. The waiter was pleasant but the manageress had the attitude that she wanted us to eat and go. They ramped up the air conditioning so that we would go and started cleaning the floor and it wasn’t even 9:30! This os an old established restaurant that os now obviously making its money on deliveries……not a relaxing evening at all.

Loud extractor fan. Different courses served simultaneously. such that some got cold. Duck breast in lumps and unsuitable to make into wraps. Seats uncomfortable. Difficulty getting attention of waiter at times. Won't be returning.

Expensive but excellent variety of Cantonese dishes. Love the salt and pepper squid and prawns and the Singapore noodles in particular. Very nice staff.

Small portions...but high prices, low on taste. Crispy chilli beef wasn't crispy it was soggy, tasted super sweet not with even a hint of chilli...or beef for that matter! Ordered 2 portions of rice arrived in one tiny bowl...no way was that 2 portions!! White wine tasted off and red wine had bits of cork floating in it. Still tried to charge the stealth tax, service charge. Even with that removed was still £56. We're off to find somewhere else to eat dinner as we're still hungry!

Food was good we were seated right away. Staff was friendly. We have beef stir fry with egg noodle. Braised pork ribs and battered soft crab.

There was absolutely no waiting around, the staff were very fast and efficient with meals arriving within minutes which were all really good quality of a little pricey. Felt a little rushed with ordering, eating, paying and leaving within 40 minutes

The place is a great place to eat in and has "The same price" for Takeaways but the original price for a Chinese food exceeds expectations!! Not a good policy in such testing times as a Chinese takeaway was for everyone and all earning levels. To make it into an exclusive gives strong impetus to go to Chinatown which is far more entertaining or get a takeaway delivered from a place with a good review and more realistic prices.

the whole place needs decorating and tidying up .down stairs are minging .staff rude didn't seem to want to serve us ,food came out in drib and drabs .no help on how or what to order .

Such a lovely meal with our son ,the food was first class as was the service We had a mixed platter starter and each had a separate main course each dish was an explosion of flavours so good

Awful. Supposed to be a higher class restaurant but the food is now tasteless and they’re not using the sauce they should instead just lemon and maybe honey no sweet and sour sauce. Highly disappointing and disgusting because they obviously think their customers are complete fools! Will never order from here again.

It used to be very good restaurant.We visited every Sunday for dim sums. Lately,the dim sum buffet is extremely slow.They bring 3 or 4 baskets and then you have to wait 25 - 30 minutes for the next lot.The last 3 times it happened exactly the same patern.Staff needs to be more attending and more polite.

The staff is very rude and condescending, not worth having them ruin your mood with all the nice places available in the area

We live locally and have been going to Goldfish for years, normally the food is excellent but tonight our meal was truly appaling. I always have the Chefs Signature Crab with ginger and Crispy noodles as per the menu. Tonight they served it with soft noodles and were intent on saying the menu was incorrect which is an untruth. They changed the noodles for alleged crispy and then served them with a heavy style sauce not as per the usual. At £42.50 I expect the food as described. My partners food was good but the rice got cold whilst waiting for the main. Choose another restaurant as this one has sadly changed.

The worst crispy beef we’ve ever had. It definitely not tasted as beef, way too much batter and the beef is sliced in spaghetti-sized pieces, just not worth it. The supposed cook that came all the way from China must still be on his way. We gave Goldfish plenty of chances, however there is nothing we would go back to try again. The lobster waaay overpriced and full of noodles. We only liked the kung pao chicken from the menu, and that partially as it was extremely hot.

The place was nice and the people there were very kind. Unfortunately their food was not cooked at all and sadly got food poisoning and was ill for a week. Please be aware of the salt and pepper squid (starter) and salt and pepper prawns (mains).

This is easily one of my favourite Chinese restaurants in London. Incredible selection of dumplings, as well as incredible mains and desserts. There are options for everyone, with plenty of veggie dishes too. Everything is very well crafted, and you can truly detect their passion when cooking. Highly recommend it!

I eat in this restaurant many times a year! This is the best place to have a bite. I visit this place at least once a month. The meals are fantastic, the crew is polite and the prices are good. I enjoy being in this place over a nice dinner.

i usually do take away,it is expensive , i am willing to pay that price for quality food. it was very nice resturant , but no longer as good as it use to be. i dont think i will order again.

It was enjoying this meal until i found a long black hair in my rice! I doubt restaurant’s hygienic standards are good. I don’t recommend this restaurant and won’t order from here again.

They offer a vast variety of delicious food. I enjoyed eating here. Staff members are always welcoming, pricing is fair and the place is always well organised.

Slow service, very overpriced despite being good quality. You would expect to pay these prices at the top of the Shard, not a small local Chinese. Staff fairly unfriendly but it’s the only option in the area to get good Chinese so they get away with these prices...

The crunchy mushroom salad is a must try!

Avoid at all costs. Watery, sickly noodles that were foul smelling. They have mixed up my order and Don’t mix thier noodles instead serve crispy noodles drowning in watery smelly liquid that’s has been reheated a d cooked days before.

Food is incredible, slightly different to anywhere you’ll likely go again. Slightly expensive but you get what you pay for in life and this is up there with the best in a city full of incredible Asian cuisine.

I ordered it via deliveroo and the fish was over £30 for a measly portion. It didn't have any flavour. A complete disappointment! I will not be ordering again.

A complete overpriced disappointment! Felt we were at a party for waiters. Wretched food. Pinot Grigio like Weasley urine.

Everything was great. Only complaint was we were sat up front by the open kitchen which is very noisy and made it hard to chat. In the future will ask to be seated further back, away from the kitchen.

Initially we were seated upstairs (despite there being room downstairs) and were the only diners in an empty and untidy room. We were moved downstairs but were seated next to the door which was opened continuously by delivery drivers collecting takeaway orders. People arriving after us with no reservation were seated at better tables but we didn't feel we could ask to move again. The Sancerre we ordered was unavailable and the replacement was a Sancerre rose from Marks and Spencer. The food was good and the staff were happy to cancel our main courses but the atmosphere means we wouldn't return.

Quite aggressive service, for no apparent reason. Even though the place was mostly empty, they seemed in a great rush, almost chucking the food and drink at us. Veg spring rolls were heavy and not at all good, although main courses were fine. Overall a rather unpleasant, almost hostile, experience, Will never go there again, even though it is local to us.

We've been going to this place for years at least a few times a month. We particularly love their Dim Sum buffet on Sunday. Truly delicious and generous. The main reason that keeps us going back apart from deliciousness is the quality of Dim Sum particularly Ha Gau, Prawn Sui Mai and other prawns Dim Sum. They don't cut corner by adding minced pork often you'll find in other Chinese Restaurants. The wok dishes are also very delicious as they have wok smoked from high heat stove. All of their attention to flavour comes from the owner who as we understood was once working as a head chef at The Four Seasons Hotel, Singapore. The skills he brought definitely reflecting on his amazing dishes. We love Fried King Prawns with Wasabi Mayo and Fried King Prawns with Passionfruit Sauce. Utterly delicious and eating with egg fried rice is simply incredible. We usually don't order Chicken in sweet&sour sauce but they make it exceptionally delicious too. However, the quality also reflecting on the price, and it's not a place we can eat everyday hence the Sunday buffet. Having said that if you pay by cash they'll offer 15% discount. We brought many of our friends there and all of they still talks about the food they've had from this place. The staffs are always attentive and deliver a good service. We have noticed they are always the same few staffs and seemingly getting on well.

The best chinese! Love it! We had duck and spring rolls for starters, absolutely lovely. Then had chilli chicken (my fav), chicken fried noodles, egg fried rice, and beef and black bean sauce. 5 stars.

The food is decent and the service is fine. My only complaint is that if you are going to have still water available on all of the tables when diners arrive they should be made expressly aware that it’s £4 per bottle, or better just provide jugs of tap water for free!

We went to Goldfish as family of 4 with two kids. We had a reservation. Upon arrival we were told that we had to leave the table within 1 hr. Then they gave us a table and let us there for 15 minutes without nobody asking whether we wanted to have drinks, etc. The waitresses were displaying very poor behaviour and were not helpful when we asked for something slightly off menu. To be honest there are better places where to eat Chinese in London.

Terrible experience eating here- ordered the Sunday buffet which was supposed to be dimsum. No explanation of how this complicated buffet would be served up but we quickly realised there was no choice at all in what we got to eat- were presented with a large plate of disgusting fried spring rolls and various other generic Chinese starters and forced to eat this before they would bring us any steamed dim sum (or pay a £5 fine for food left!!!). Once they did start to bring the steamed dumplings we just had to take pot luck as they said there was no choice available just random. We also were forced to choose something off the ‘bonus’ menu which was basically just fillers like fried rice etc (again you had to finish ALL of this or a £5 fine would be added). Service was rude at best and it felt like we were inconveniencing them. The food was pretty greasy and both myself and parter felt sick all day after. Give these scammers a miss and go somewhere else!!

Had a duck dish which was dry - had to ask for extra sauce to make it palatable - and didn't come with any vegetables. Fortunately my partner had ordered asparagus which I could share. Bill came to £125 for two which included 1 glass of wine each, which I thought was exorbitant for what we had - the following day three of us ate at a Gordon Ramsay restaurant in Limehouse Marina for only £20 more.

I went to Goldfish with the Time Out unlimited dimsum offer. I booked first then read the reviews and was nervous as I was going with 3 friends. So a bad start - there was the bottled water on the table (that reviews suggest they overcharge for), the seat had a rip that was taped over, and the staff weren't exactly charming. However, they took the water away and gave tap water on request, the dimsum were pretty good and there was a good selection. In fact we left stuffed to the brim and happy. We also bought a bottle of white wine which was very nice. Overall a lot better than expected and worth a visit, especially if you can get the Time Out deal

Our table was a bit noisy, being right next to the kitchen. Some dishes were fabulous, the scallops and the aubergine were out of this world.

Great. Lunch menu unbelievable value. Bit of a cold atmosphere but in my experience the colder the service the better the food when it comes to Chinese restaurants!

Terrible food. All the dumplings are pre made, frozen and then steamed (bland). The remainder of the food (veg, duck) was drowning in oil after it had been deep fried in. Staff were pleasant but lost when taking orders and absent most of the time. Very disappointing

We enjoyed an all you can eat dimsum, absolutely delicious and great service. Only thing that let it down was the drink cost. We asked for a bottle of the house Prosecco (admittedly did not look at the wine list first). I recognised the bottle, it is the same a high street supermarket which retails for around £7. When we got the bill it was £39!!! Sadly this left a bad taste in our mouth as we knew that bottle was worth no where near £39. Standard restaurants would charge around £25 for their house Prosecco.
