Went there yesterday and very busy but the young staff members were amazing. Beautifully polite and apologetic for the wait. The food was amazing and the large chips was massive. This is the best chip shop in porthcawl. Keep up the amazing work with producing wonderful food.

Paid £10 for a piece of fish which was dried up, the batter was chewy and the flesh yellowish. The chips seemed as though they had been left over from lunch time with many of them being hardened scrap ends, the pie was cold in the centre yet the pastry had a hardened crust? The assistant was involved with a conversation with someone in the back area and continued chatting whilst they poured salt all over the chips. Over £20 in total was binned due to being inedible. I have visited here for years and years but have noticed a gradual decline in the quality of food and the service provided and I am saddened to say that I wont be trying here again. With regard to the owners comment stating that they are open 8 days per week, his other shop was closed for refurbishment at the time so NO, they were not open 8 days per week just wednesday through to Saturday, 4 days per week

On arriving our bags were taken up the the stairs by a lovely young man (joe) who later I found out was what I think was the manager, they/he/staff couldnāt have more helpful, breakfast was lovely with the fantastic staff!! Couldnāt recommend it more highly!!!

This restaurant/pub is absolutely lovely, the staff are super attentive and friendly, the food is delicious, Sunday lunch is definitely recommended, just like your home-cooked one which we all no you canāt beat and the price isnāt too steep. We have a caravan close by and this is the pub the whole family goes to all the time when weāre down there. We have just booked for mother day.

Lovely food at a very reasonable price. Very friendly staff and very accommodating. Dog friendly. Have been here a couple of times and will definitely enjoy going there again when we visit our daughter who lives nearby. Sad to say this little gem has now closed down and up for sale š¢ Areal shame for traditional pubs with proper food.

Wow... in my experience..the positive reviews here are so, so wrong. Could have been a 'bad night' but suspect this place is a case of 'Emporer's New Clothes' in a town with little in the way of fine dining (and I have sampled such across the world). Very disappointing as the latter is was what I expected... and all being well, was prepared to pay handsomely for. In summary however, the food was not expertly cooked and in parts, unpleasantly over flavoured (arrived a bit on the quick side) ...all from a rather limited menu and accompanied by an excessive wine list that attempts to compensate for a poor quality product... all vastly overpriced (for what you end up getting). In addition, while service adequate, downgraded as older waitress rather 'brusque'... with space / tables so compacted you are constantly reached across. No where for coats or bag storage you just have to sling them over your chairs or dump them on the floor around the table, adding to the 'cluttered' feel. Probably wouldn't be as bad if they didn't try to ram as many tables as possible into what is a pretty boutique space. I am not averse to complaining, but we just wanted to finish up what we could and leave. Basically, our bad for going there and all in all.. being reasonable people, while what we got, we considered substandard ... we did get 'something'. 'Suck it up' as they say (given opinions re the food, no double entendre intended).
