Had a lovely meal here last night for a work colleague's leaving do. Pre-ordered as there was 12 of us. Everyone was happy with their food. Excellent service, Thank you ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We picked this venue in August for our wedding reception. Megan was OUTSTANDING and her team were amazing!!!!! The food was perfect and the decor was simply beautiful. Would definitely recommend this venue to anyone! 10/10

Omg! Not visited for over 10 years but wish we had. The food was outstanding, service was nice and quick, staff very attentive, food lovely and hot, presented very well and extremely tasty. Cannot wait to go back and try something else from the menu xx

Visited today for our wedding anniversary. Firstly I’d like to say that a lot of the food was lovely and very reasonable priced but burnt batter on the fish and apple and rhubarb crumble left a lot to be desired…not hot, hardly any crumble and very watery. The biggest drawback for us was the service. Different wait staff every time we asked for something, no one checked on us once we’d had our meal and we had to ask someone over every single time! We were seated and had drinks very quickly but then it was like we’d been forgotten about and we waited a long time for someone to take our order. I think the young staff, who were pleasant enough, just need some extra training in customer service. We eat out at many pubs and this just wasn’t the service we’re used to. It hasn’t put us off visiting again but I hope this feedback will be taken on board.

Great place and great food lovely friendly staff

Had yet another superb dad duaghter lunch at the Blue Lion, served by Dan, decided to have an assortment of starters, instead of a main meal, great choice the chicken liver patè was up to its usual high standard, but the salt and pepper squid was absolutely delicious, as good as I've have anywhere in the world, highly recommended for lunch or dinner top drawer 👍👍

We booked for Saturday night in the restaurant with friends. We had four different starters all were fantastic. 3 of us ordered the steak, and one ordered the pie. Food was excellent. Staff were highly attentive. Would definitely recommend.

Love love love eating at the blue lion, the food is always delicious, I've never had a bad meal here. The Sunday roast is excellent and the outdoor area has some amazing views. Dog friendly, with a doggy snacks menu too.

Lovely pub with great food and lovely staff. On one of our recent visits, we took our 2 dogs and they both enjoyed the dog beer. Waiting on staff were brilliant and also made a big fuss of our dogs. Really enjoy our time there.

We've been twice now. The food has been great both times and reasonably priced. The plus for us is that they are super dog friendly. Will definitely go again and will recommend to friends.

Great food and brilliant service, came on the 16th of September around 8 oclock and were served promptly. Portion sizes were fantastic. I had the soup, veggie chickpea curry and finished with a Crumble. All absolutely great portion sizes and fair prices. Great meal to finish our last night on holiday

We visited The Blue Lion for Sunday roast because they do lamb and that is what we wanted. The lunch was very tasty and the lamb was so tender there was no need to cut it with the knife. I was told the lamb came from a local butcher. The Yorkshire pudding was very light. There were four vegetables served on the plate, broccoli, peas, and greens in a creamy garlic sauce, and a carrot/swede mash which had been flavoured nicely with butter and herbs. I enjoyed the lunch very much and the service was very helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend trying the lamb roast at this pub.

The food was excellent. The meals cooked to perfection. All the staff pleasant and friendly.

Food was expensive for what it was obviously precooked and not all that tasty. Had better curries in Wetherspoons!

What a find! Looking for a pub for a late lunch returning from Conway we came acroos here on Google. Very near the A55 but feeling like it’s in the middle of nowhere we arrived at this beautiful old traditional pub with amazing views from the terrace and garden. What a joy to find great service, fabulous Sunday lunch and the most friendly and welcoming staff. Will definitely be going back even though it’s an hour from home. Go… you won’t be disappointed! .

We just stopped off for a quick drink whilst passing through Cwm. Beautiful setting, lovely ambience inside (very conversational!), great service with a smile, the nicest Saivignon Blanc (!) and, all in all, a really pleasant experience. Can't wait to return - especially to use the lovely garden space on a sunnier day. Would most definitely recommend!

Very relaxing place to eat and very good service and food

Went on a Monday afternoon to catch up with a friend. Not local but when I do come to the area this is the only place I’ll go time & time again. Service amazing, always making sure we were ok and if we wanted anymore drinks. Had the Steak Frites, steak was cooked perfectly and just to my liking. Lovely pub with gorgeous view's, gorgeous food and an amazing selection of drinks! 10/10.

Amazing Staff & the food was great!

A classic country pub with a traditional cosy interior and a spacious beer garden with great views. Always welcoming and family friendly. The food is great (highly recommend the chicken burger), and there a good range of drinks. Not a "cheap place", but to be expected with the quality of food. The service can be slow on occasion, but overall a great pub.

Over price for what you get to eat and to have to pay extra for cauliflower cheese and mashed potatoe

An unscheduled stop on our way back from the car show , not been for a while but was pleasantly surprised with the food which was plentiful and delicious 😋

A beautiful pub with cracking staff, the food is unbelievably scrumptious and generously portioned. I dined here for a goodbye meal on a Sunday with my family and everything was perfect, even down to the pour of my Guinness. A member of my family is usually unable to finish their meal. However, we were informed that a smaller portion is available (obviously for a reduced price) and it was perfect, the consideration and care of the staff is something I would expect in a high end London restaurant ! I couldn’t decide on what meat I would have liked for my Sunday roast, and like an angel sent straight from the lord himself, the Sous-chef appeared and guided my hand (and choice) like the lord himself, or perhaps, even the devil, whispering sweet nothings into my ear and leading me into temptation with the choice of all three meats. That’s BEEF, that’s PORK, that’s LAMB, all on one plate, served with the most delightful vegetables and one of the best Yorkshire puddings a man can ask for. The atmosphere was exquisite inside the main seating area, with the log fire cracking away, and the chatter of family and friends around us. We were even treated to exclusive entertainment for a few moments, being sung; Vera Lynn We’ll meet again, by none other than the Sous-chef, I believe his name was Miles? However, it was his own rendition, with him opting to call it “We’ll three meats again” All in all, this is a gem of a find and can’t recommend this place enough. I hope that one day we’ll three meats again, I do know where, but don’t know when.

Very friendly staff, great value and relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Food and drinks are good value. Dogs welcome and have a dog menu. We had fish and chips which was very nice. 100% favourite local pub

Lovely place! First visit and it wasn’t a disappointment in the slightest. We had a warm welcome and were seated by the window looking out over the valley and hills. Service was quick enough for sure and very friendly, chatty, even recommended places nearby. The bread board is easily enough for two, as was the 10oz gammon steak (the pic was after we split it). Honestly, sharing those two dishes, that was a very decent meal. It was all delicious, every part of it. Lovely coffee. Lovely atmosphere (though not sure about the music; it was a bit ‘wedding-afterparty style’) but I’m not knocking stars off for that as everything else was superb 🙂 If this has helped, give it a ‘like’ so that others see it 😉

Went for lunch yesterday after my sons graduation and the food was fabulous. Large portions too. Highly recommend.

My wife and I have now eaten here 4 times. We live in Lancashire, but use this as our favoured 'lunch stop' enroute to visiting family in North Wales. The Sunday Roast is always a winner for us, and the Service is slick & friendly. Hopefully it's a tradition we can maintain for a while longer.

I arrived with my wife at the same time as a large wake..I was a tad worried as to whether I would be served food quickly. There was no problem at all! My wife had the hoisin sandwich and i had the BLT with cheesy chunky chips and an excellent pepper sauce. Food came quickly and was excellent. Staff are attentive, very pleasant and very efficient. All in all a lovely venue and well worth the visit. Beautiful views by the way.

The food is Homemade and gorgeous. Pulled pork nachos were lovely. The cod and chips was the best I have had for years. My wife had the steak pie and she loved. Great pub in the countryside.

All staff very professional and welcoming. Had lasagne and garlic bread and beef and ale pie with amazing home made chips, on the recommendation of the young waitress ( sorry did not catch your name),Sunday Roasts are also very good . Wife is not a big eater and they do a small Sunday Roast for £10. Roast beef and lamb with fresh veg,perfect roasties and tasty yorkie all delicious Owner brought doggie treats to us on the outside beer garden which offers outstanding views. She also mentioned her partner was the chef and everything was cooked fresh which was evident from the quality of the food.A bit out of the way with narrow roads to get there , however well worth the trip. If the kitchen gets things right, which this establishment certainly does combined with excellent service deserves to be a thriving business.Could not fault it in any way. Megan, the landlady is the most accommodating person running a pub that I know. As the driver of the bunch I obviously would like to stay there for more than a pint. So Megan has sourced Doom Baar zero for me, so I can now stay longer. Megan you are great.

Went here on a Sunday afternoon. Not busy and not much atmosphere. Only one vegan option and it was ok, seemed home made and healthy but not the tastiest and the bread it came with (nan) was microwaved and chewy. Didn’t bother with the pudding, but they did at least have a vegan option which is great. Nice staff and lovely views from garden though.

Went here for dinner with family one Saturday night as it's highly recommended locally. Glad we booked as it was virtually full. Parking was an issue, the car park was full and there's literally nowhere else to park! We were initially seated at a table near a group of c.20 people, which was horrendously noisy, so asked to be moved. Fortunately there was a table in a small room off to the side. Food was delicious as was the blood orange cider! But the children's menu was very limited so we ended up ordering an adult meal for a child. I do wish places would just do half portions rather than pizza/nuggets etc which my daughter refuses. Will definitely return though

Had a lovely meal with generous proportions. It was a Monday evening, so it was very quiet, but it was still a pleasurable experience.

Exemplary *EXEMPLARY* food. The Sunday roast really was very good and it was the sides that lifted it. Huge Yorkshire pudding. Stupendous creamed cabbage. Hearty carrot and swede mash, delightful cheese and cauliflower, smooth and buttery mash, fabulous roasties. Yes! I am running out of superlatives! Loved it. Staff friendly and attentive without being good manners robots. Great eating space and the beer garden has great views over to the mountains of Eryri too. ❤️

Not that good roast lamb was awful

Food was good but the cold roast potatoes and hard broccoli was a bit too much to warrant another visit.

With regards to Sunday roasts, this place sets the standard. Great quality and quantity. The service was excellent too - attentive without being in your face. If only other gastro pubs were even close to this place. Incomparable!

First visit to the Blue Lion having heard lots of good things about it , not disappointed, the food was excellent and plentiful. We visited on a Bank Holiday and it was very busy and as a result the speed of service was somewhat affected, but the staff worked really hard to minimise delays which were perfectly acceptable bearing in mind how busy it was. Despite the rush , the food was piping hot and perfectly cooked. We will be back , and if you haven't been yet then get yourself there.

Came here with my grandma and my better half on a Saturday night, it was very busy. The service was still really good, all the girls and lad both on the floor and behind the bar are really good at their jobs. the food was fantastic and very good value for money. AMAZING place for food! It was delicious! I would 100% recommend this place to everyone. The waiters were super helpful. I am also Gluten Free and they have a good amount of options available. I'd recommend the goats cheese salad! Lush! Will be returning back here again soon :)

Came as part of a group after attending the nearby reenactment event. Food was as good as had been recommended. Portions are massive, stunning, and great value. Can definitely recommend to anyone.

Great place for family meal. Went as 4 adults, 2 children and a newborn and I mentioned that we had a breastfeeding baby with us. They accommodated this by giving us a big table with lots to space in a separate area from main bar which I really appreciated. Staff were really friendly and attentive and the food was lovely. Have eaten here about four times in twelve months and enjoyed it each time so it’s consistent. My brother had the pie and he said that it was on par with the best pie he’d ever had which was in Las Vegas in Gordon Ramsey restaurant! Will definitely go again; really like it

Our second visit to this lively establishment in a month. We like it! I remember it from days of yore. Its been through some rough times since but its definitely back on track under its new owners. It is a pleasantly busy place which gives it a warm atmosphere. The food is excellent and amazing value. The staff are friendly, very helpful and efficient. There is a great selection of drinks and a very decent cocktail list. It is now our new regular watering hole when I'm visiting family. I can see the Blue Lion in Cwm going from strength to strength under its new owners. I'm already looking forward to my next visit. Just wish they were on my doorstep.

Started coming here regularly last year for Sunday roasts. Never had a bad meal and look forward to every visit. The food choices are very good and the quality too. I always recommend this venue to friends and family and will continue to visit. The staff are also friendly and accommodating for little menu tweaks where they can. (Cream instead of ice cream with pudding!)

Fantastic Saturday afternoon late lunch early dinner for family with 8 of us (2 kids) Shared starters (got to try the Squid, excellent!), amazing mains and deseerts were fatastic as well. All staff from each area were also spot on, friendly, welcoming and very professional. We havent been for years but will be back very soon, I would highly recommend this to anyone in two minds about going.

Not been here for a few years, looks and feels a lot better these days - we were there for supper/dinner - excellent service and food. Comprehensive meny and my choice of Beef Stroganoff was great. The other reason for the visit was the superb quiz. The place was buzzing and that was great. Highly recommended. Book a table on quiz nights !

What a lovely place! Went here with my partner and my daughter and her partner, also took my daughters dogs as its dog friendly. Cannot speak highly enough of the place, I work in hospitality so am always very aware of surroundings and food and service but this place was faultless. Our server 'Owen' was so friendly and accommodating and made us and the dogs feel so welcome. A lovely girl served our food (sorry didn't get her name). The place is full of character and charm and the food was beautiful and good value for money. Will definitely be recommending this place and will definitely be going back here! Lovely evening was had by us all 🤗

From the place itself to the gorgeous food and our server 'Owen' who was so lovely and made us feel so welcome and a young lady (sorry we didn't get her name) who served our food. The moment you walk in you are greeted by lovely and pleasant staff. The food was absolutely delicious, good size portions and for once I could not even manage a dessert. The restaurant is so lovely with the beautiful decor and the cosy fires. We had a table booked for 12 of us and we preordered our meals which was good as we did not have to wait long for our food. I have never been before but I will be definitely returning 🙂

What has happened to the Blue Lion? Cold veg, burnt pastry on the tough steak pie. Nuclear hot microwaved lasagne. Very nice and polite waitress sadly let down by kitchen staff. Young brace of chavs on the pool table who seemed to work in the pub mouthing off and seeking attention. Never again, Steer clear.

Dropped in late on a Monday evening for a first-class homemade pie&mash and a pint. While the food is excellent, the stand-out thing about this place is the service, specifically the fact that it's clear that the staff really care about making the place work well. On the night I was there, one of the front of house staff was at the bar on her night off, but couldn't stop herself from jumping up and down to do the things that she saw were needed. It really gives a great impression.

I booked a table for three of us. We all decided we weren't really hungry so we ordered bacon, brie and cranberry wrap, but one in bloomer bread. We asked for the bacon to be well done and crispy. We also ordered two bowls of chips. One with hand cut chunky chips and one sweet potato chips. We were all pleased with the food but couldn't eat all the chips. Luckily service was slow and we had some time before we ordered dessert. We ordered two apple and cinnamon crumbles and one mango cheesecake. Again we enjoyed our food. I would have given 5 stars but the apple and cinnamon crumbles didn't have enough cinnamon and the mango cheesecake not enough mango and a bit too sweet. Possibly too much white chocolate. But we will probably go there again and try something else!

We visited this fantastic little venue 3 times during our short Wales break. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with a friendly smile and a cheery greeting. The food is of the highest quality, all freshly made on site and so tasty. The chef has to be praised on the standard of cooking. On our first visit my other half decided to have the steak pie with mash & vegetables, she could not fault it. I decided to have the steak burger which came with skin on chips and one of the best tasting coleslaws I have ever tried. If you are ever in the Rhyl / Prestatyn area seek out this little gem. You will not be disappointed. On our last night we discovered that they have made the Food Wales finals, I could not resist voting for them and I hope that they win, it will be very much deserved.

Lovely friendly location....food is amazing

Not able to fully express how outstanding our experience was here. The food was exceptional, the guy who served us was really friendly and was happy to pass on his local knowledge, inside we felt so comfortable and the wood burner is lovely.

Returned to "The Blue" for a trip down memory lane having worked there many years ago. Nice to see welcoming staff, a lovely fire and a good menu. Open 7 days from noon also a bonus. Our meals were all different choices including one from the children's menu and all generous portions. Our granddaughter loved her pizza and her "just a taste" from our plates went down very well too. The hummus board with bread and olives an excellent sharing starter and the garlic bread with cheese a must have. All main dishes , pie, steak and gammon cooked to our taste, an all round lovely evening. We shall be back for more very soon.

Great place to visit warm and friendly staff. although I've given the food 5star I haven't tried yet but seen food go out and looks very nice. Member of staff Dan is very helpful with anything you need.if you want somewhere that is relaxing and in a countryside setting then this is the place to visit.

It took twenty minutes for our order to be taken and after forty five minutes we still had not received our meal, kitchen had forgotten us. Have eaten here a number of times but today will be the last. Service was appalling and food quality was not what It had been on previous visits. Landlady very apologetic and didn't charge for either our drinks or meal but I wasn't angling for a Free Be a decent meal and service was all that I required. Blue Lion you did yourselves no favours

Visited today to have lunch and was very impressed by the improvement carried out to the property since our last visit . It was clean , well maintained and the owners were taking great pride in the appearance of the building. The roaring log fire was an added bonus in this cold weather . The food was amazing and service by Chloe and Dan prompt and professional. Would highly recommend this restaurant and pub .

Went with a group of friends new years day and enjoyed really nice meals all round. The service was great, looked after by a very friendly chatty young chap who was really positive be about the place Nice atmosphere and the Christmas decor looked really nice. Would certainly recommend ans will definitely return, hopefully in better weather to allow us to enjoy the outdoor space and a lovely view

Had a really nice meal here- both curry and lasagne were fab, really great pub food. Service was quick and staff were really friendly. After eating we had a couple of drinks in front of the fire and will definitely come back for both food and drinks soon!

6 of us popped up for tea before the quiz. The waitress was fantastic and all the staff were very attentive throughout the evening. We didn’t have to wait long for our food and everyone enjoyed their meals- the portions are massive! The pie was delicious and those chunky chips - mmm! I guess the only thing that would have improved things is another veggie option on the short menu as we do visit quite a bit and our friends end up with the veggie curry most of the time. It’s great to see the pub so packed and we all had a fab night.

Service at the table was excellent but on arrival we hadn't been allocated the table we asked for so we're asked to have a drink in the bar while this was made right....stood for quite a while but no- one asked for our order. Poor start but have to say the food was excellent.
