AMAZING place for food! It was delicious! I would 100% recommend this place to everyone. The waiters were super helpful. I am also Gluten Free and they have a good amount of options available. I'd recommend the goats cheese salad! Lush! Will be returning back here again soon :)

Came as part of a group after attending the nearby reenactment event. Food was as good as had been recommended. Portions are massive, stunning, and great value. Can definitely recommend to anyone.

Great place for family meal. Went as 4 adults, 2 children and a newborn and I mentioned that we had a breastfeeding baby with us. They accommodated this by giving us a big table with lots to space in a separate area from main bar which I really appreciated. Staff were really friendly and attentive and the food was lovely. Have eaten here about four times in twelve months and enjoyed it each time so it’s consistent. My brother had the pie and he said that it was on par with the best pie he’d ever had which was in Las Vegas in Gordon Ramsey restaurant! Will definitely go again; really like it

Our second visit to this lively establishment in a month. We like it! I remember it from days of yore. Its been through some rough times since but its definitely back on track under its new owners. It is a pleasantly busy place which gives it a warm atmosphere. The food is excellent and amazing value. The staff are friendly, very helpful and efficient. There is a great selection of drinks and a very decent cocktail list. It is now our new regular watering hole when I'm visiting family. I can see the Blue Lion in Cwm going from strength to strength under its new owners. I'm already looking forward to my next visit. Just wish they were on my doorstep.

Started coming here regularly last year for Sunday roasts. Never had a bad meal and look forward to every visit. The food choices are very good and the quality too. I always recommend this venue to friends and family and will continue to visit. The staff are also friendly and accommodating for little menu tweaks where they can. (Cream instead of ice cream with pudding!)

Fantastic Saturday afternoon late lunch early dinner for family with 8 of us (2 kids) Shared starters (got to try the Squid, excellent!), amazing mains and deseerts were fatastic as well. All staff from each area were also spot on, friendly, welcoming and very professional. We havent been for years but will be back very soon, I would highly recommend this to anyone in two minds about going.

Not been here for a few years, looks and feels a lot better these days - we were there for supper/dinner - excellent service and food. Comprehensive meny and my choice of Beef Stroganoff was great. The other reason for the visit was the superb quiz. The place was buzzing and that was great. Highly recommended. Book a table on quiz nights !

What a gem of a place. I work in hospitality so I'm always very aware of food and service and can honestly say this place was just lovely. From the place itself to the gorgeous food and our server 'Owen' who was so lovely and made us feel so welcome and a young lady (sorry we didn't get her name) who served our food. What a lovely place! Went here with my partner and my daughter and her partner, also took my daughters dogs as its dog friendly. Cannot speak highly enough of the place, I work in hospitality so am always very aware of surroundings and food and service but this place was faultless. Our server 'Owen' was so friendly and accommodating and made us and the dogs feel so welcome. A lovely girl served our food (sorry didn't get her name). The place is full of character and charm and the food was beautiful and good value for money. Will definitely be recommending this place and will definitely be going back here! Lovely evening was had by us all 🤗

What a great find this was on a Monday evening. I wasn’t sure from the outside appearance but was surprised to find a great interior with excellent ‘pub grub’ fayre. Surprised how many people were eating early on a Monday evening. Very enjoyable, many thanks

The moment you walk in you are greeted by lovely and pleasant staff. The food was absolutely delicious, good size portions and for once I could not even manage a dessert. The restaurant is so lovely with the beautiful decor and the cosy fires. We had a table booked for 12 of us and we preordered our meals which was good as we did not have to wait long for our food. I have never been before but I will be definitely returning 🙂

What has happened to the Blue Lion? Cold veg, burnt pastry on the tough steak pie. Nuclear hot microwaved lasagne. Very nice and polite waitress sadly let down by kitchen staff. Young brace of chavs on the pool table who seemed to work in the pub mouthing off and seeking attention. Never again, Steer clear.

Dropped in late on a Monday evening for a first-class homemade pie&mash and a pint. While the food is excellent, the stand-out thing about this place is the service, specifically the fact that it's clear that the staff really care about making the place work well. On the night I was there, one of the front of house staff was at the bar on her night off, but couldn't stop herself from jumping up and down to do the things that she saw were needed. It really gives a great impression.

I booked a table for three of us. We all decided we weren't really hungry so we ordered bacon, brie and cranberry wrap, but one in bloomer bread. We asked for the bacon to be well done and crispy. We also ordered two bowls of chips. One with hand cut chunky chips and one sweet potato chips. We were all pleased with the food but couldn't eat all the chips. Luckily service was slow and we had some time before we ordered dessert. We ordered two apple and cinnamon crumbles and one mango cheesecake. Again we enjoyed our food. I would have given 5 stars but the apple and cinnamon crumbles didn't have enough cinnamon and the mango cheesecake not enough mango and a bit too sweet. Possibly too much white chocolate. But we will probably go there again and try something else!

Lovely friendly location....food is amazing

We visited this fantastic little venue 3 times during our short Wales break. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with a friendly smile and a cheery greeting. The food is of the highest quality, all freshly made on site and so tasty. The chef has to be praised on the standard of cooking. On our first visit my other half decided to have the steak pie with mash & vegetables, she could not fault it. I decided to have the steak burger which came with skin on chips and one of the best tasting coleslaws I have ever tried. If you are ever in the Rhyl / Prestatyn area seek out this little gem. You will not be disappointed. On our last night we discovered that they have made the Food Wales finals, I could not resist voting for them and I hope that they win, it will be very much deserved.

Not able to fully express how outstanding our experience was here. The food was exceptional, the guy who served us was really friendly and was happy to pass on his local knowledge, inside we felt so comfortable and the wood burner is lovely.

Returned to "The Blue" for a trip down memory lane having worked there many years ago. Nice to see welcoming staff, a lovely fire and a good menu. Open 7 days from noon also a bonus. Our meals were all different choices including one from the children's menu and all generous portions. Our granddaughter loved her pizza and her "just a taste" from our plates went down very well too. The hummus board with bread and olives an excellent sharing starter and the garlic bread with cheese a must have. All main dishes , pie, steak and gammon cooked to our taste, an all round lovely evening. We shall be back for more very soon.

Great place to visit warm and friendly staff. although I've given the food 5star I haven't tried yet but seen food go out and looks very nice. Member of staff Dan is very helpful with anything you need.if you want somewhere that is relaxing and in a countryside setting then this is the place to visit.

Exceptionally good food, really friendly staff and a welcoming atmoshphere. It is a dog friendly pub with a laid back feel, but the staff were always attentive. We will definetly return if in the area again as it is the best pub we have been too for a very long time.

Great food, great atmosphere and great people who run it! Tucked away in the middle of nowhere, a country pub that still opens 7 days a week... can't beat it! Never had a bad experience and can only recommend.

It took twenty minutes for our order to be taken and after forty five minutes we still had not received our meal, kitchen had forgotten us. Have eaten here a number of times but today will be the last. Service was appalling and food quality was not what It had been on previous visits. Landlady very apologetic and didn't charge for either our drinks or meal but I wasn't angling for a Free Be a decent meal and service was all that I required. Blue Lion you did yourselves no favours

Visited today to have lunch and was very impressed by the improvement carried out to the property since our last visit . It was clean , well maintained and the owners were taking great pride in the appearance of the building. The roaring log fire was an added bonus in this cold weather . The food was amazing and service by Chloe and Dan prompt and professional. Would highly recommend this restaurant and pub .

Went with a group of friends new years day and enjoyed really nice meals all round. The service was great, looked after by a very friendly chatty young chap who was really positive be about the place Nice atmosphere and the Christmas decor looked really nice. Would certainly recommend ans will definitely return, hopefully in better weather to allow us to enjoy the outdoor space and a lovely view

Had a really nice meal here- both curry and lasagne were fab, really great pub food. Service was quick and staff were really friendly. After eating we had a couple of drinks in front of the fire and will definitely come back for both food and drinks soon!

6 of us popped up for tea before the quiz. The waitress was fantastic and all the staff were very attentive throughout the evening. We didn’t have to wait long for our food and everyone enjoyed their meals- the portions are massive! The pie was delicious and those chunky chips - mmm! I guess the only thing that would have improved things is another veggie option on the short menu as we do visit quite a bit and our friends end up with the veggie curry most of the time. It’s great to see the pub so packed and we all had a fab night.

Had a lovely meal here yesterday evening....the meals we ordered came promptly and were hot and delicious. Service at the table was excellent but on arrival we hadn't been allocated the table we asked for so we're asked to have a drink in the bar while this was made right....stood for quite a while but no- one asked for our order. Poor start but have to say the food was excellent.

This place is very popular, we asked to move tables, so that we could here ourselves. The car park gets full early. The food was very good, staff excellent. Well worth the visit. We'll go again soon.

Super impressed - lovely location, fantastic outdoor area, place is well maintained and seems to be run very well. Only had drinks on this visit but will be returning for food soon. Recommended! Edit: been here a good few times now. Place is brilliant. Quiz on a Thursday every two weeks - really good!

We visited this pub on a trip to Wales and were slightly disappointed by the whole experience. The servers were kind however they took very long to do basically everything. We arrived and waited for a while to order, once we ordered we waited around 1 hour to receive our burgers. The chips on some plates were hot whilst others were like warm. The food was okay, slightly plain and no garlic aviolio on the burgers as stated in the menu. Again we waited about 10 mins just for some sauces from the servers. My burger was plain apart from some onion rings which were undercooked and soft. Whilst eating I saw a small (non flying bug) come out from my burger, I'm not sure whether this had come from the table or the plate but either way it put me off my food. I asked for a new burger which came out very quickly however it seemed very rushed as the quality had decreased. The serves were kind and asked me how it was, but overall I think they were just very slow. It was not busy however they was only 2 servers and I think they needed more. I was disappointed as I barley ate any of the next burger due to the quality but still paid whole price for the meals and was offered no compensation. Overall the food was okay, but I wouldn't go here if you are in any sort of rush.

Always a perfect way to end a walk in here , lovely to see it open again. So laid back and you can take your dog too . Gorgeous food ,great friendly atmosphere. Lovely landlords. Great beer garden with stunning views. What more could you ask for.

Me and mum went here for a Sunday lunch. It doesn't look like much from the the outside, but once we went in....wow. A calm, warm atmosphere. The staff were incredibly polite, and the food was absolutely amazing. Our entire bill came to £38 which consisted of 3 drinks, a starter and 2 main meals. Absolute bargain!! I was shocked how cheap it was. I cannot recommend this place enough!

Very slow service and poor food

Very poor experience unfortunately. Squid starter was burnt and inedible and pate was bland with a tasteless onion chutney. Main course seafood was really poor and not fresh tasting, lamb was ok but overpriced and not good value. Service was ok but bottle of wine didn’t arrive. Wouldn’t recommend unfortunately after previous visit was good.

Delicious food, friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere and reasonable prices

Food was nice but nothing special. Just pub food trying to be posh. I had the bacon cheese burger and upgraded my fries for and extra £4, I basically paid for a dollop of sauce on the chips to give them a spicy cheese flavour. Don't bother with the baileys creme brule. There was no baileys in it. If there was, it was then it must have evaporated. Service was awful. I think they forgot they had other customers, other than the birthday table that was in. The waiter apologised that they were busy. Having been in the trade longer than he'd been alive, I can say they were definitely not busy, but actually very quiet, just simply not that bothered. Definitely not worth the drive there.

First visit in over 30 years and wasn't disappointed. We were a family group of 10 for my wife's birthday. The food was excellent and portions very generous. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Just one small criticism is that of the 4 choices of dessert 3 were chocolate. We were all very full and had taken a birthday cake so wasn't a problem but would like more choice next visit. We will defo be going back very soon 👍

Myself and my partner came to the blue lion for a nice lunce, have had many previous great experiences but today not one of them. We were given a table for an hour, waitress seem not to check up on customers nore around to ask for the desert menu. Food quality not that great. Will be looking for a new restaurant in the future.

Popped in lunch after seeing the reviews. I had the leek and potato soup of the day and the gammon. Both very tasy and I highly recommend this pub to anyone.

First visit & will certainly not the last. Well worth the short trip from Rhos on Sea. Blue Lion was warm & cozy at start of business Sunday 1st October. Pleasantly greeted by staff, comfortably seated & after a generous garlic bread, our plated lunch arrived, one lamb, one roast ham with all the veg was superb. This is such a well run establishment & it was, understandably, so so busy. Thank you all, we will return asap.

Popped in from Rhuddlan for lunch today We had vegetarian curry with sweet potato fries and Steak and Ale pie with chips and veg.. Food was lovely, well presented and nice and hot .. We both work in local hospital and getting away for a quiet lunch is just what we needed on our day off . Well done Blue Lion we will come back again soon.

Had roast lunch today - sorry but very average- meat was very thin slices - not from a joint -as it’s a local business want to give my money but thought it was expensive for what it was!! Expected more for the price! Won’t be going back sorry

We called in for an impromptu lunch whilst in the area. It was mid week so quiet to start but did fill up slowly. We sat on the terrace to dine al fresco as it was a hot September day and the views were uninterrupted...

Lovely place to eat. Nice, varied home cooked menu. Idyllic setting serving a range of alcohol too. I saw a few dogs so I'm assuming at least some part of this place is dog friendly. And they have a pool table which was perfect entertainment teaching the kids while waiting on food. Would highly recommend.

Based on everything, this was the best pub meal I have had in months. Staff were great and friendly and food was super tasty. Pub also has a nice atmosphere, with plenty of parking too. Sadly we are only in Wales for a short while longer, but if you are in the area looking for somewhere to eat, I would totally recommend it

What a great place to go for the evening. The weather was sunny, and the view is spectacular across to the hills. Staff couldn't do enough, food was incredible and so much of it!! Thoroughly recommend this place to anyone.

A magical Welsh village and an ideal watering hole with real ale and pub grub.

This pub is very old and atmospheric. In recent years it has struggled because of the running cost of such a large old, building. But it looks like the new management has got the recipe right; food and service is excellent. The ambience whether out on the patio with lovely views or round the huge open fire is truly outstanding.

We visited for lunch today and must say the food was outstanding. The four of us really enjoyed the food it was flavoursome and plentiful. Would definitely recommend.

Came here as part of a function for a friend's pre-wedding dinner. The team managed 80 diners with immense patience and professionalism. The food was brilliant and all served with smiles. Couldn't fault it.

Good choice on menu, portions are a good size especially the mixed grill. Food is all cooked from fresh so it takes a bit longer to be served but definitely worth the wait. Staff are very friendly and efficient.
