An accidental find whilst out with the dog. Lovely view, great food and will look forward to next visit.

Came in Sunday afternoon, hadn't booked but got a table although it was busy. We had 4 Sunday roasts 2 nut loaf, lamb and beef. All were good the veg was excellent, shout out for the red cabbage, giant really crisp Yorkshire's good gravy. Meat was a bit overcooked for our tastes, but it was late in the day. The nut roast was first class apparently. Finished with the apple and rhubarb crumble. The crumble top was really crisp and the apple and rhubarb was not overpowered by the rhubarb and had the great texture not completely stewed down ( like when I do it). Really enjoyed the meal thanks. Look forward to coming again and trying other things off the menu.

Amazing place, food was fab and lovely place

We visited this Saturday evening, luckily we booked as it was extremely busy. The service was great, the staff were all so busy but nothing was too much trouble. There was a slight wait for food but this was expected due to how busy it was! The food was really good, great value and huge portions! Will definitely be back.

Having been a few times over the years we decided we wanted a good meal for a family members birthday, we arrived on time and were shown straight to our table which was great, however it went wrong from there. We waited ages for drinks and starters then waited a god half hour for plates to be cleared let alone the mains. Then we were asked if we'd like dessert to which we said yes and only when I went to the bar to ask if anyone was working as they were all stood chatting at the bar did they suddenly arrive with menus and soon after our desserts. They do however look after the locals as they were walking in getting served and seated while we were left sat waiting. It's a shame as nowhere can afford to be like this. To say we were gutted is an understatement always enjoyed coming to the blue lion, it was always somewhere we sent visitors.

We often come here, sometimes for food, sometimes just for a drink. The food is always spot on, never had a bad or average meal here. The service is always fast, and the staff are always really friendly and chatty. Good choice of drinks at the bar, and all reasonably priced. We love the calm and cosy atmosphere in here, and even better for us that it is dog friendly. Our favourite place to go for a meal or a drink!

We used to frequent the blue lion a huge amount as a well know great place... 6/7 years on am back for the first time since Quiz night mike Pritchard as Quiz master was so helpful and outgoing. There was nothing he couldn't help with and helped us join in. The bar staff were so welcoming and very helpful. Helped us to settle in an best of all sat us on the sofa in front of the fire and plied us with plenty of beer a d mulled wine Please call in and experience this place well worth a visit

We had Sunday lunch , a table for two. We were sat at the end of a pillar. Good job, we had a tea light ! Or we wouldn't have been able to read the menu. Very dull & dark, people walking past you that came through the door. Disappointed 😞 beef was tough 😕

Had high hopes for this place given the fact we live 40 odd miles away we had heard positive reviews so worth a try. Sunday lunch is usually a good tester, our order was taken eventually then the long wait began for the meal to arrive. When it did I’d say reasonable portions with an enormous Yorkshire pudding. Beef was tender but there again you can’t go far wrong with pre sliced thin portions. Fresh, well cooked vegetables but not worth the £18.95 price tag. Some of us ordered a pudding but at £8.50 not value at all. To summarise, lovely place, nice atmosphere but not worth the price point for the overall quality and indeed the long wait for the main to arrive and an even longer wait for desserts, busy or not.

Heard very good reviews. Nain meal was lovely but the service was poor. Waited over 20 minutes for pleas to be cleared in a restraining with only 3 tables busy. Dessert extremely over priced £8.50 and not hot like requested. Ordered tea which never arrived and was added to bill. We did remove it

This was my first visit to your establishment, despite regularly passing by. We made an online reservation specifically requesting a non-dog seating area. However, we encountered unacceptable delays in receiving a greeting and being seated, and were ultimately placed in a section with dogs. The ambiance was underwhelming, and the temperature was uncomfortably low; our table, near a small heater, was in a high-traffic area adjacent to the restroom. Our request to relocate was denied due to full capacity. We had to actively seek out staff to place our food order. Our food arrived within 10 minutes of ordering (Sunday lunch), and while the presentation was acceptable, the quality was average. The cost of £21 per person for the all-meat option was excessive. Similarly, four pints of coke cost £15, a disproportionate amount, and desserts were priced at £8.50 each, which we found overpriced. In summary, the value, ambiance, and service did not meet expectations, and therefore, I would not recommend your establishment nor return.

This place is just divine. A little off the beaten track but more than worth a visit. The food is delicious & the service is A*. We will definitely be returning.

I must start in praise of the staff at The Blue Lion. I don't think I've ever before met so many delightful young people in one place. Each and every one was welcoming, naturally friendly and efficient. In short, a total credit to The Blue Lion. What a difference that makes to the enjoyment of an evening out. The food was delicious, the surroundings attractive and the whole atmosphere one of friendliness. I wish we lived near enough for it to be our local but 60 miles is a bit of a stretch. We will be certain to visit again as soon as the opportunity presents itself!

Best Sunday dinner I’ve had in a long time. It was so tasty and just the right amount. The pudding was amazing too! My daughter wanted to bring the dog and was so happy there was a dog menu too 😂. The staff were very busy but still had so much time for us and were polite and friendly. Great atmosphere. We will be back x Thank you x

Spontaneous visit mid-way through a long walk through the hills. The food was brilliant, really high quality with great portion sizes for the money. We ordered two of the steak burgers, and two roast ham & melted cheese ciabattas. It took a little while to come out but when it did it was piping hot, fresh and everything was really tasty. Lovely dog friendly pub, with well spaced out tables in the dog area which was great. Plenty of food options for them, and free treats & water to help yourself to which was a nice touch. Well worth a trip out, or a visit if you’re local - we can’t wait to go back!

We walked up today for a late lunch with the dog and it was lovely and toasty on arrival. The fire was roaring which is just what we needed. Lovely, friendly staff as usual and the food was delicious. My chicken burger was so tasty and massive. We also loved the truffle and Parmesan chips- yum! One of our favourite places locally and well worth the hilly walk to get there. Diolch yn fawr!

Amazing pub, the food was to die for. Lovely attentive staff, hot food, well presented, good quality produce, and plenty of it. You won't go home hungry from here. Can't wait to go back.

Nice food, but very very slow service

We booked a Family of 10,6 adults and 4 children on a Sunday, meal was delicious, service was great, children served first then the adults,staff were brilliant, will definitely be going again, would highly recommend this place

We ate here last night. We've been here on our holidays in wales for 10 days so far. We met up with some friends local to here. What a beautiful place . The food was 10/10 the mixed grill was that big we shared between the 2 of us. We will be returning. The prices matched the food . Great price for what you get.

Me and my family had a lovely Christmas Day dinner with all the trimming, 5 course. Food lovely and hot, service superb but one little moan had no new potatoes or colli flower cheese but over all excellent thank you.

Used to visit here in the 70’s and 80’s as it was a great pub, well after a few lean years it’s nice to say “The Blue Lion is back”. Had several visits now, and Meg and the team have done a great job in bringing the pub back. Food is tasty, well presented, served professionally and promptly, but you never feel rushed and are always made to feel at home. All done at a good price. Well done to you all for turning back the clock, and making “the Blue” the place to go for great food and drink.

I was there with my family for christmas day meal, lovely friendly festive staff and plenty of them, very well organised, didn't wait long inbetween courses and a real cosy friendly atmosphere

When with our local car club 30+ people great afternoon , great meal , food is exultant . This is the second year we have had our Christmas meal meal there . They cope with large parties easily . Well done to all the staff

We picked this venue in August for our wedding reception. Megan was OUTSTANDING and her team were amazing!!!!! The food was perfect and the decor was simply beautiful. Would definitely recommend this venue to anyone! 10/10

Omg! Not visited for over 10 years but wish we had. The food was outstanding, service was nice and quick, staff very attentive, food lovely and hot, presented very well and extremely tasty. Cannot wait to go back and try something else from the menu xx

Visited today for our wedding anniversary. Firstly I’d like to say that a lot of the food was lovely and very reasonable priced but burnt batter on the fish and apple and rhubarb crumble left a lot to be desired…not hot, hardly any crumble and very watery. The biggest drawback for us was the service. Different wait staff every time we asked for something, no one checked on us once we’d had our meal and we had to ask someone over every single time! We were seated and had drinks very quickly but then it was like we’d been forgotten about and we waited a long time for someone to take our order. I think the young staff, who were pleasant enough, just need some extra training in customer service. We eat out at many pubs and this just wasn’t the service we’re used to. It hasn’t put us off visiting again but I hope this feedback will be taken on board.

Great place and great food lovely friendly staff

Had yet another superb dad duaghter lunch at the Blue Lion, served by Dan, decided to have an assortment of starters, instead of a main meal, great choice the chicken liver patè was up to its usual high standard, but the salt and pepper squid was absolutely delicious, as good as I've have anywhere in the world, highly recommended for lunch or dinner top drawer 👍👍

We booked for Saturday night in the restaurant with friends. We had four different starters all were fantastic. 3 of us ordered the steak, and one ordered the pie. Food was excellent. Staff were highly attentive. Would definitely recommend.

Love love love eating at the blue lion, the food is always delicious, I've never had a bad meal here. The Sunday roast is excellent and the outdoor area has some amazing views. Dog friendly, with a doggy snacks menu too.

Lovely pub with great food and lovely staff. On one of our recent visits, we took our 2 dogs and they both enjoyed the dog beer. Waiting on staff were brilliant and also made a big fuss of our dogs. Really enjoy our time there.

We've been twice now. The food has been great both times and reasonably priced. The plus for us is that they are super dog friendly. Will definitely go again and will recommend to friends.

Great food and brilliant service, came on the 16th of September around 8 oclock and were served promptly. Portion sizes were fantastic. I had the soup, veggie chickpea curry and finished with a Crumble. All absolutely great portion sizes and fair prices. Great meal to finish our last night on holiday

We visited The Blue Lion for Sunday roast because they do lamb and that is what we wanted. The lunch was very tasty and the lamb was so tender there was no need to cut it with the knife. I was told the lamb came from a local butcher. The Yorkshire pudding was very light. There were four vegetables served on the plate, broccoli, peas, and greens in a creamy garlic sauce, and a carrot/swede mash which had been flavoured nicely with butter and herbs. I enjoyed the lunch very much and the service was very helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend trying the lamb roast at this pub.

The food was excellent. The meals cooked to perfection. All the staff pleasant and friendly.

Food was expensive for what it was obviously precooked and not all that tasty. Had better curries in Wetherspoons!

What a find! Looking for a pub for a late lunch returning from Conway we came acroos here on Google. Very near the A55 but feeling like it’s in the middle of nowhere we arrived at this beautiful old traditional pub with amazing views from the terrace and garden. What a joy to find great service, fabulous Sunday lunch and the most friendly and welcoming staff. Will definitely be going back even though it’s an hour from home. Go… you won’t be disappointed! .

We just stopped off for a quick drink whilst passing through Cwm. Beautiful setting, lovely ambience inside (very conversational!), great service with a smile, the nicest Saivignon Blanc (!) and, all in all, a really pleasant experience. Can't wait to return - especially to use the lovely garden space on a sunnier day. Would most definitely recommend!

Went on a Monday afternoon to catch up with a friend. Not local but when I do come to the area this is the only place I’ll go time & time again. Service amazing, always making sure we were ok and if we wanted anymore drinks. Had the Steak Frites, steak was cooked perfectly and just to my liking. Lovely pub with gorgeous view's, gorgeous food and an amazing selection of drinks! 10/10.

A classic country pub with a traditional cosy interior and a spacious beer garden with great views. Always welcoming and family friendly. The food is great (highly recommend the chicken burger), and there a good range of drinks. Not a "cheap place", but to be expected with the quality of food. The service can be slow on occasion, but overall a great pub.

A beautiful pub with cracking staff, the food is unbelievably scrumptious and generously portioned. I dined here for a goodbye meal on a Sunday with my family and everything was perfect, even down to the pour of my Guinness. A member of my family is usually unable to finish their meal. However, we were informed that a smaller portion is available (obviously for a reduced price) and it was perfect, the consideration and care of the staff is something I would expect in a high end London restaurant ! I couldn’t decide on what meat I would have liked for my Sunday roast, and like an angel sent straight from the lord himself, the Sous-chef appeared and guided my hand (and choice) like the lord himself, or perhaps, even the devil, whispering sweet nothings into my ear and leading me into temptation with the choice of all three meats. That’s BEEF, that’s PORK, that’s LAMB, all on one plate, served with the most delightful vegetables and one of the best Yorkshire puddings a man can ask for. The atmosphere was exquisite inside the main seating area, with the log fire cracking away, and the chatter of family and friends around us. We were even treated to exclusive entertainment for a few moments, being sung; Vera Lynn We’ll meet again, by none other than the Sous-chef, I believe his name was Miles? However, it was his own rendition, with him opting to call it “We’ll three meats again” All in all, this is a gem of a find and can’t recommend this place enough. I hope that one day we’ll three meats again, I do know where, but don’t know when.

An unscheduled stop on our way back from the car show , not been for a while but was pleasantly surprised with the food which was plentiful and delicious 😋

Lovely place! First visit and it wasn’t a disappointment in the slightest. We had a warm welcome and were seated by the window looking out over the valley and hills. Service was quick enough for sure and very friendly, chatty, even recommended places nearby. The bread board is easily enough for two, as was the 10oz gammon steak (the pic was after we split it). Honestly, sharing those two dishes, that was a very decent meal. It was all delicious, every part of it. Lovely coffee. Lovely atmosphere (though not sure about the music; it was a bit ‘wedding-afterparty style’) but I’m not knocking stars off for that as everything else was superb 🙂 If this has helped, give it a ‘like’ so that others see it 😉

Went for lunch yesterday after my sons graduation and the food was fabulous. Large portions too. Highly recommend.

I arrived with my wife at the same time as a large wake..I was a tad worried as to whether I would be served food quickly. There was no problem at all! My wife had the hoisin sandwich and i had the BLT with cheesy chunky chips and an excellent pepper sauce. Food came quickly and was excellent. Staff are attentive, very pleasant and very efficient. All in all a lovely venue and well worth the visit. Beautiful views by the way.

The food is Homemade and gorgeous. Pulled pork nachos were lovely. The cod and chips was the best I have had for years. My wife had the steak pie and she loved. Great pub in the countryside.

My wife and I have now eaten here 4 times. We live in Lancashire, but use this as our favoured 'lunch stop' enroute to visiting family in North Wales. The Sunday Roast is always a winner for us, and the Service is slick & friendly. Hopefully it's a tradition we can maintain for a while longer.

Megan, the landlady is the most accommodating person running a pub that I know. As the driver of the bunch I obviously would like to stay there for more than a pint. So Megan has sourced Doom Baar zero for me, so I can now stay longer. Megan you are great.

All staff very professional and welcoming. Had lasagne and garlic bread and beef and ale pie with amazing home made chips, on the recommendation of the young waitress ( sorry did not catch your name),Sunday Roasts are also very good . Wife is not a big eater and they do a small Sunday Roast for £10. Roast beef and lamb with fresh veg,perfect roasties and tasty yorkie all delicious Owner brought doggie treats to us on the outside beer garden which offers outstanding views. She also mentioned her partner was the chef and everything was cooked fresh which was evident from the quality of the food.A bit out of the way with narrow roads to get there , however well worth the trip. If the kitchen gets things right, which this establishment certainly does combined with excellent service deserves to be a thriving business.Could not fault it in any way. Ps to owner we were with our small dog Amber

Went here on a Sunday afternoon. Not busy and not much atmosphere. Only one vegan option and it was ok, seemed home made and healthy but not the tastiest and the bread it came with (nan) was microwaved and chewy. Didn’t bother with the pudding, but they did at least have a vegan option which is great. Nice staff and lovely views from garden though.

Went here for dinner with family one Saturday night as it's highly recommended locally. Glad we booked as it was virtually full. Parking was an issue, the car park was full and there's literally nowhere else to park! We were initially seated at a table near a group of c.20 people, which was horrendously noisy, so asked to be moved. Fortunately there was a table in a small room off to the side. Food was delicious as was the blood orange cider! But the children's menu was very limited so we ended up ordering an adult meal for a child. I do wish places would just do half portions rather than pizza/nuggets etc which my daughter refuses. Will definitely return though

Exemplary *EXEMPLARY* food. The Sunday roast really was very good and it was the sides that lifted it. Huge Yorkshire pudding. Stupendous creamed cabbage. Hearty carrot and swede mash, delightful cheese and cauliflower, smooth and buttery mash, fabulous roasties. Yes! I am running out of superlatives! Loved it. Staff friendly and attentive without being good manners robots. Great eating space and the beer garden has great views over to the mountains of Eryri too. ❤️
