We turned up at short notice from a very wet canal boat so a very welcome hot meal, the homemade chips were yummy and the hot coffee and puddings were great too. My 12 year old daughter always rates a meal on if you get mints at the end..sadly no mints but maybe next time 😊

We ate here yesterday (Bank Hol Monday) We'd phoned Friday and booked a table for the 3 of us no problem. We walked here & from the outside it didn't give the 5* impression, but I'd read online reviews & still felt confident. We were welcomed quickly at the bar, they had a big coach party in, but our table was ready and nothing was too much trouble. We ordered steak and ale pie, cod and chips & kids sausage chips and peas. Homemade chips! The meals came out timely, looked great & were all delicious - pretty much clean plates. We also all had desserts at £5 each - warm chocolate fudge cake with ice cream, sticky toffee pudding with custard & 1 scoop of ice cream with wafer for our daughter at a bargain £1.95. Even though they were really busy, their service and food were excellent. Hence the 5 star review.

The roast is so expensive for what it is. We came around 7pm so the last cuts of the day were really tough of beef. Also thought that nothing was really special that we had tried apart from the homemade chips. Service was bad they never gave us a receipt or change so had to ask for it. Even after spending nearly £150 for 6 people. Owner got mad saying we still ate it, of course we’re going to were hungry and made a reservation hahah, don’t ask how it was then?

What a disappointing experience. Overlooked the 1 star reviews and wish I didn’t now. Despite the reviews and dealing with two lovely women throughout booking, we turned up to a sad and disgruntled owner dead set on being unpleasant. We had booked a van stop over for the night and a table for the 4 of us. Arrived with my parents a few hours early to say hi and see what the craic was. First words out his mouth; ‘YoU haVe tO lEAve NoW’. Never did get to understand what the problem was, I wasn’t hanging around to have his flecks of spit on my face. On the plus side, he did assure me he wasn’t me being rude. He said something along the lines of “if you think I’m being rude now, I can show you me being rude”. Nah, you’re alright mate. To anyone reading this, Llangollen is a stunning place with many great eateries, lovely owners and fantastic campsites - Sun Trevor is not one of them.

Great if you like your grub from a transport cafe or someplace with a youth hostal atmosphere..... Inside decor is bland to say the least ! Service is rude almost on a take or leave it attitude and outside seating ( totally dependent on the weather) is totally confusing as tables are so poorly numbered it is almost impossible to read any markings on them unless you have a magnifying glass. Far better places in Llangollen for food and drink... The Bridgend hotel /The Cornmill just to mention 2......vastly overrated !

Reasonable food, fairly expensive for what you get. £19 for a below par roast isn't great value. Staff got a bit surly when we mentioned that the beef was tough. On top of that, tried to keep change as a tip. Not great vibes. Could do better

Went here as myself and my partner had been invited onto my cousin's narrow boat for a trip up the canal. Stopped here for tea before our return home. Amazing food, good choice of beers and lovely staff. The only slight downside is that from the canal you have to cross a road, which is quite fast and can be busy at times. Would definitely recommend though. We'll be back! Bridge 41 if you're travelling on the Shropshire/Llangollen canal.

We had walked from Llangollen to visit the Pontcysyllte Aquaduct and back as far as Sun Trevor (about 7 miles). We'd been advised to call for a meal at the Sun Trevor and so Friday about 6ish we arrived to find a very busy pub/restaurant, and it appeared all tables reserved. We spoke to the staff and they were so welcoming and friendly and managed to squeeze us in even though clearly they were very busy. We'd been advised to try the steak and ale pie, which we ordered, and wow it was fabulous. Portions are enormous and it was washed down with a pint of welsh ale. The restaurant was very busy and all of the food we saw looked plentiful. They clearly have a reputation for great pub food. They also offer free pub stopover for motorhomes. Again I'd just like to repeat the welcome we received was so lovely. Lots of places produce lovely food these days, but you dont often get such a warm welcome as we found there at Sun Trevor. Congratulations to the girls. We will be back.

Used to be absolutely fantastic a few years back but has been in a decline over the past ones. Food was excellent and is still largely pretty good, however frozen onion rings instead of the what used to be incredible homemade ones is a choice I’ll never understand. Nor using back bacon for burgers, but that’s just personal preference. Drinks are always good and neither me nor the family have had a bad pint. Only other real gripe is the current landlord can be extremely standoffish and unwelcoming. Not the best way to run a pub especially when you’re a paying customer. Not sure if he’s stressed out from the business or something but a couple of weeks off might be needed as being told in a very stern tone “you can’t sit there” multiple times despite one of the ladies behind the bar (who are all lovely btw) had told him several times that it was our table that we had booked didn’t really kick off visit well. I have been told by others in Llangollen that they have had similar run-ins. Overall a good pub, just needs the menu revisiting and a bit patience and it’ll be as perfect as it once was.

The leek and mushroom pie was not what you would expect, this has a very thick nutty paste with very little leeks and mushrooms (maybe not the best choice!) Overall a great place, food looked good maybe either describe the leek and mushroom pie better or....change the recipe....a creamy sauce and loads of veg would work?

Lunch was nice - steak and ale pie and a burger. Good homemade chips. Disappointing that the 'grills' menu ran to gammon and.. er that's it. Could have murdered a steak. Can't stand gammon. Great pints of Wrexham Lager and Purple Moose Whakahari New Zealand pale, though the other cask ale on offer (I forget which) was in poor condition. Called and booked a table and informed over the phone we would have a dog with us, person who took our booking was very pleasant, asking what time we wanted to book so that they could ensure we were seated as far away as possible from other tables who were also bringing their dogs. Very friendly welcome from Emma, who looked after us as soon as we walked through the door. Due to a change of chef, there was a slightly limited menu, until new one is released for next season, but when asked for an adjustment to a listed item, they were more than happy to oblige. The food was tasty and the portions were generous. The Bass cask ale was clear as a bell, tasted great and held it's head all the way down the glass. Music was great, not sure if there was a jukebox or piped in but a pleasant change to the usual options of chart 'bangers' or generic muzak. After a previous disappointing meal in a larger venue earlier in the week, this visit was a delight and would be more than happy to come back next time we are in the area.
