Fantastic pub that serves great food, with friendly staff providing excellent service. Comfortable, clean, and with a beautiful beer garden, this a great location for both a hearty meal or just a few pints.

I love the Sun. I've been a customer for nearly 40 years and will continue to be as long as they'll have me.

Been here a few times, most recent visit there was 12 of us. The food was lovely easily a 10/10, the service was quick. This place is a cozy place, great environment to bring dogs, they even have a dog menu. I will definitely be coming here every chance I get.

Perfect stopover but book early as we just turned up, but thankfully were squose in. Then we had a couple hours chillin in the moho, before enjoying a wholesome meal to die for. We fed the dog steak chunks from the humongous pie. Met some wonderful fellow campers in the bar sitting by log fire, couldn't have asked for any more. 5 ☆☆☆☆☆

Food was fresh and tasty, I don't usually each much meat, but my giant yorkie was full of melt in the mouth beef & I ate every last bit. Pudding was almost perfect it'll it hadn't been slightly over microwaved.

Lovely food, staff and owners, always nice to see service with a smile. Great views and nearby walks. Ideal mooring spot just across the road for our narrowboat. We have had food here on numerous occasions over the last few years and never been disappointed.

Great steak pie. Friendly staff. Stopped over with the camper. Good base for a walk to the ruins on the hill, viaduct and Llangollen.

Used to be absolutely fantastic a few years back but has been in a decline over the past ones. Food was excellent and is still largely pretty good, however frozen onion rings instead of the what used to be incredible homemade ones is a choice I’ll never understand. Nor using back bacon for burgers, but that’s just personal preference. Drinks are always good and neither me nor the family have had a bad pint. Only other real gripe is the current landlord can be extremely standoffish and unwelcoming. Not the best way to run a pub especially when you’re a paying customer. Not sure if he’s stressed out from the business or something but a couple of weeks off might be needed as being told in a very stern tone “you can’t sit there” multiple times despite one of the ladies behind the bar (who are all lovely btw) had told him several times that it was our table that we had booked didn’t really kick off visit well. I have been told by others in Llangollen that they have had similar run-ins. Overall a good pub, just needs the menu revisiting and a bit patience and it’ll be as perfect as it once was.

Lovely Pub, wonderful service and great menu, 6 friends ordered 6 different food from the menu and all of us enjoyed our food. The ultimate fish and chips wan excellent 👍👌 Also Dogs get their own menu.

Great pub. Really lovely staff. We stayed in the carpark as they let motorhomes and campers stop over if you eat in the pub. Had some lovely food and drinks. The parking is flat and the views over the valley are splendid. It's right next to the canal and you can walk to either Llangollen or to the fabulous Telford aquaduct what a thoroughly enjoyable stay. We will be back for certain.

Food is excellent and in generous potions, biggest burger patti I've had in a long time.

Lovely, friendly local pub with fantastic old fashioned chips which were great. The steak pie was plentiful and full of delicious steak....maybe some additional gravy would be good? The leek and mushroom pie was not what you would expect,this has a very thick nutty paste with very little leeks and mushrooms (maybe not the best choice!) Overall a great place, food looked good maybe either describe the leek and mushroom pie better or....change the recipe....a creamy sauce and loads of veg would work?

Look forward to having a Saturday night meal out,only to be dissapointed by very poor service,and over run by dogs,wagging their tails hitting my chair all night,and three different sets of dogs barking over the restaurant. More like crufts and definately not like a restaurant. Food was average. We will not be returning unfortunately.

Fantastic Stop Over on our way to Wales, Can't fault it at all ,Food was Delightful wife had the Gammon I had the Steak Pie which I saw was recommended Delicious will definitely be back, Highly recommend, thanks all Chris & Sue.

Perfect as always, arrived in our Campervan checked in and relaxed for the rest of the day. Called in for a drink before walking along the canal. All staff were very friendly and attentive, meal was served hot and was very good, even had room for a dessert this time, again delicious. Our second time here and will keep returning.

The food was good and plentiful. But I got the feeling that it doesn't know if it was a pub or a restaurant, it is lost in between.

Stopped for night in Motorhome after calling prior to arrival. Pub was busy for midweek. Food and service excellent. Staff friendly and accommodating. Views are fantastic. Highly recommended.

My husband and son visited here last year, while touring in a mobile home. They thought it was marvellous so insisted I should go there. Been there done it won't be going again sorry, it's not somewhere I would choose to go. Nothing special at all to my mind. .

Nice place, good food, great views. Just found it a bit on the expensive side.

Stopped by for lunch during a walk along the canal. An unexpectedly sunny day and their terrace is quite sheltered so we ended up enjoying a lengthy stopover ..just one more pint... Lunch was nice - steak and ale pie and a burger. Good homemade chips. Disappointing that the 'grills' menu ran to gammon and.. er that's it. Could have murdered a steak. Can't stand gammon. Great pints of Wrexham Lager and Purple Moose Whakahari New Zealand pale, though the other cask ale on offer (I forget which) was in poor condition. Cosy bar area with minimal seating and a large dining area. Clever gents fittings made from metal beer kegs and lager taps.

The food was really good and the toilets made me laugh with the urinals and sinks being made from old kegs genius Alround great little pub

Really friendly staff and great food, we both had the ultimate fish and chips, which were huge returned following day on way home and had ciabbattas really good portion sizes and reasonably priced, would definitely recommend. Fabulous beer garden with great views

Had many meals here, extremely disappointed with the food. The lasagna was like warmed up leftovers curled at the edges.

Stopped as was driving through had already booked to stay in van over night, ate in the pub leek and mushroom pie which was like porridge in a pie didn't enjoy it but staff very welcoming, was met with I think was the farmer owner in the morning telling us off for parking my van sideways as I was on a tilt and was worried about the handbrake failing as it was a sheer drop, my anxiety, but knew I wouldn't sleep 😕was only 3 vans in the car park so plenty of room he was rude and quite nasty won't be returning

Only called in for a drink whilst on our way back from Llangollen,so I can't comment on the food, but the Guinness was good and the views from the beer garden are spectacular.

Nice view but rude staff... We sped more than £100 from their shop, but they told that our kids opened 2 bags of crisps from the home.... And no toilet paper in that dirty toilet....

Really fantastic 👏 the food is of a higher than normal level for the price and portion. They are dog friendly to the point of outstanding. I am looking forward to returning .

Very dog friendly this is the 4th time we have stopped in the car park over night. Very safe. Staff and food brilliant couldn’t do enough for us. Definitely go back again and will recommend it to family and friends. Five stars.

Very impressed. We were visiting the area so chose this place to eat based on Google reviews. Between us we had the leek and mushroom pie, beef lasagne and beef cheeseburger. Portions were very good and we all left feeling full! The food was well above average pub grub. We sat outside while it was sunny and enjoyed the view. We later retreated to the gazebo around the back where we sat underneath a heat lamp and enjoyed the rest of our food. The staff were friendly. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area in search of high grade pub grub.

Arrived in our motorhome with ten minutes to spare before the kitchen closed. Nothing was too much trouble - we were allowed to park up overnight and order food just in time. Super friendly and very helpful staff, amazing food, huge portions - I can’t recommend this place enough. We’ll definitely be back.

Stopped for a quick lunch and pint. Was quite quiet, but still bit of a wait for two ciabattas. Were nice though.

We had a pleasant family meal here. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible although the ladies toilet is not. They are VERY dog friendly including a separate dog treat menu. I had a large salad with salt & chilli chicken which ironically was lacking in salad but came with a lot of chicken. Our whole party concluded the food was quite tasty.

Recently booked for a surprise birthday meal!! Nothing was too much trouble for them! Even dropping cake and decorations off early! Pre ordered food as it was a large party to make it easier. Food was amazing everyone commented how nice it was! Even a quick phone call to say we were running late was not a problem for them!! Will definitely be returning.

We visited with our 2 dogs and received a warm welcome from all the staff. Views from the beer garden are amazing. Best steak and ale pie I've ever had. I'm fussy with meat and it was so lean, it just melted in the mouth. The landlord told us it is locally sourced. Husband had the ribs and really enjoyed his too. We will most certainly return!

We had not booked and were advised of an hours wait for food. We were OK with this and were duly provided with a superb Scampi & Chips. Best chips for ages. Friendly host, staff, other customers and dogs. Loved it.

It was our first time in North Wales so we phoned up and asked to stop in the pub car park with our Campervan, which they allowed us to! We all had a meal and a few drinks and they’re amazing with children and dogs too! Such friendly and welcoming staff, would definitely come back! Our second night here in a week in our motor home Food gorgeous and staff really friendly and welcoming Its a quite a popular place to eat so I think you might have to book and they have 8 spaces for motor homes free as long as you eat in the pub which we’d definitely recommend we you need to book in advance

Second time we have stayed with the motorhome. Great food, wonderful views, lovely walk along the canal to Llangollen in one direction and Pont Aqueduct in the other (spectacular!)

We visited for an evening meal as a group of 36 caravanners staying nearby. The food was lovely. I personally had the hunters chicken served with salad and chips & hubby had fish & chips. Good portions, so good in fact i had to miss the desert I fancied as I was full. All our group really enjoyed their meals. Steak & ale pies, gammon, curries, fish & chips, burgers, lasagne & a few even managed deserts. The staff were so friendly & served us all so quickly. Huge thanks to the staff behind the scenes in the kitchen. It can't have been easy as it was also a hot day.

We were delighted with how well Mike treated us as soon as we arrived, the food was delicious and we, who traveled with a dog, bought him the dog menu they have. Beautiful views, and it is also next to the canal paths. A ten.

Stopped here on our boat. We will make the effort to come back here again steak pie is an absolute must and my other half had hunters chicken he loved it too massive portions of excellent food.

Had a meal at the Sun Trevor on the 29 July. The food was excellent, my wife and I had the steak and ale pie. The beef was very tasty and very tender and a lovely crust. Home made chips was nice to see instead of the usual frozen chips normally offered in other pub/ restaurants.. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Lovely atmosphere and environment. Will definitely be going back hopefully verysoon. well done to all concerned in running the Sun Trevor.

Lovely pub with really nice food. Right next to the A5 so can be a bit noisy if sat outside but the views are great. Also just across the road is the canal which is great to walk along.

Book Barn 3 with caution This accommodation has three really good double bedrooms all with lovely ensuites. There are also bunk beds in one room so a max of 8 people could stay here. However the kitchen is only adequate for 2 people. It has a small under the counter fridge and only a 2 ring hob, a small oven and very small microwave, for which there were no bowls or jugs that would fit in it. Also we were told on the first morning that we should only have had 2 cars. We were 3 couples meeting up from different parts of the country so 2 cars wouldn’t have been possible for us. The location is fabulous.

Just home from the most delicious meal at the sun Trevor! I had the steak pie, which was enormous and sooo tasty and daughter had the lasagne which was top notch too! Lovely friendly service means we will most certainly be returning! Thank you

Stopped off for a well earned drink from walking the canal towpath. Fab views to be enjoyed.

A lovely walk from the campsite along the canal, popped in for a real ale pint, and back through the woodland path.

On a barge holiday from Ellesmere to Llangollen we stopped for a couple of drinks. What a lovely pub, so welcoming and friendly, fantastic beer and very dog friendly. We didn't eat there but plenty of people were and the wonderful aromas made us quite envious! So good we went back on our return leg 😍

A brilliant pub with a varied choice menu. The service first class deserved A plus. Beer limited choice of two but varied larger. I don't drink larger !!.

We hired a barge and stopped here for lunch. There were 10 of us with 2 kids and couldn't fault a thing. Friendly efficient service and the food was delicious

Lovely little pub which we stopped at after visiting the nearby aqueduct. I had the steak pie and chips and it was lovely, proper homemade chips!! 😋 Would recommend to anyone who's in the area.

Amazing pub great place to stop for a pint and some grub. Staff were great and let us order food 45 mins after the kitchen had closed. They went the extra mile and made us feel welcome when we joined in the pub quiz after our walk along the canal.

Gorgeous little pub. Very friendly staff and the food is worth every penny. The ultimate fish and chips is exactly what it states. My dad had the steak and ale pie and he said it was like just my Nain used to make, he felt awful that he couldn't finish it but he gets full quite quickly. We will definitely be back next time we come to see family.

This is a fantastic find. We have a campervan and stayed over on their CP. Staff are so friendly. Food is unreal portion sizes are large, and if you get the Steak and Ale pie be prepared for a food challenge.
