Visited tonight with friends lovely food and didn’t take too long apart from one meal which had to be cancelled as everyone had eaten. As I was walking to purchase more drinks I heard from the counter kitchen staff/ chef shouting at other member of staff which can only be described as vile and highly unprofessional. I Also note that I was not the only customer that heard this as it was the talk of the restaurant. It really ruined my experience of the place and will not be returning. I understand kitchen work can be stressful but if you can’t stand the heat get out of the kitchen.

We went here Wednesday 16th April evening, me and my wife, I had curry half n half, and my wife had corned beef pie, mash and peas, we really enjoyed the meals, good portions, and lovely staff, plenty of selection of drinks, all in all a good visit?

First of all, the food we had was lovely. It was for Mother’s Day so we had Sunday lunch and the beef and lamb were amazing. However, we were provided one bowl of mixed veg between 4 adults and 1 child. After around 30 minutes, guests arrived at the table behind us and they were offered cauliflower cheese, informing that it was just being made by the chef. I think this isn’t very fair, booking a Mother’s Day meal and spending the money we did, all the food should have been cooked and offered to all, not cooked half way through our meal for guests who had booked 30 minutes later than us. When asked about this, the reply was simply that they’d only just put the cauliflower cheese on and that the delivery was later. Also, on the menu there was a crab bruschetta offered for starter, which again was lovely, but after this was all eaten and we were eating my dessert, a waitress (not her fault) came over to inform that they forgot to add the prices to the menu to inform that if you had the crab bruschetta, it was an extra £4. On the menu, there were set costs of a one course, two and three course meal, with no extra charges stated. When asked about this again, the reply we received was that they forgot to change the menu and add the additional cost and tried to charge us extra even though we had already eaten and were on desserts. I understand mistakes happen, but you’d think for Mother’s Day there would be a bit more organisation and that they would not try to charge for their mistake even though the meals were already eaten. Again the food was lovely, just no organisation, especially for Mother’s Day and a meal that costs a little more, there should have been more organisation. I think there are new owners and I’ve been here a few years ago and it was absolutely amazing, but not so great now. Would not recommend sorry.

Food was awful, hard chips and cold hard pie, expensive for size of meal, child’s portion. Very disappointing, wouldn’t go here again

Absolutely brilliant from start to finish! I originally started off speaking to a lovely lady called Peggy and then also her partner and other family members looking to book our works Christmas party and from the very beginning it was done with ease, they gave us everything we wanted. The room was decorated so pretty, the singer was so good, the staff were all lovely and so accommodating and the buffet was delicious! Thank you so much to everyone at the guest keen for making our night so lovely 🎄❄️

Woman that works there spends more time outside smoking than in the shop working , enough to put you off your grub before you enter the shop

We were greeted warmly upon arrival, and the staff member who showed us to our table was lovely—he even complimented my band t-shirt, which was a nice touch. Our order was taken promptly, and the drinks and salad bar bowls arrived quickly, which started the evening off well. Unfortunately, that was the highlight of the visit. The salad bar was disappointing—nearly empty and not replenished. The room felt uncomfortably warm, and we had to get our own cutlery, salt, and sauces as there were none on the table. No staff checked in with us during our meal, which felt a bit neglectful. Once we finished eating, we waited nearly 20 minutes at an uncleared table, ready to ask for the bill. Eventually, a waitress brought the bill and card machine but didn’t clear the table or ask if we wanted dessert. It felt like we were rushed out as soon as the payment was made. Overall, a promising start let down by poor service and attention to detail. Disappointed, as we’ve had better experiences at other branches.

Booked here weeks in advance for mothers day with the family. We all were there ontime and were shown to our table. That's where the good stops really. We queued for over half an hour to 40 minutes for the carvery. It was absolutely mayhem. Over the years we have been to Bessemer many many time and other carverys. I have to say this was the worst. The food itself was ok. The meat was delicious. It's the overall experience that let this review down. We were left at our seats at the table for ages before we got up ourselves and went to the bar and asked what do we do next. Does some 1 come and tell you to go to the carvery or do you jus go there or whatever. We were told by the lady attending the bar that we could go and queue ourselves which we did. The queue was unbelievable. People were sat at their tables eating food and we were standing rite there at their table waitn in the queue making us feeling very awkward and indeed the people eating felt really uncomfortable I am sure. Took ages to get to the actual carvery. Then once we had the carvery on our plates it was an obstacle course to get back through the crowd ( because that's what it was a crowd)back to our table. People coughing and spluttering and rubbing against us while we carried our plate back. It was horrible there today. Way to many people booked in for 1 time. There has to be a better system put in place for queuing for the carvery. There are other places call you up pretty much table by table. And every 1 we spoke to at the queue agreed it was appalling today. Poor staff didn know wether they were coming or going. This needs to be looked into so this situation does not happen again.

This branch really irritates me. I always order the same thing for my daughter. Pancakes with fruit and syrup. Every time I order it - it arrives looking different and the staff will try to convince you their way is the right way. Sometimes it comes with oranges, sometimes berries, sometimes no fruit at all. Sometimes it has syrup. Sometime they tell you it doesn’t come with syrup. There was one time they left the syrup under the hot plate so it boiled and crystallised into a solid chunk. Today’s visit was the same story. I ordered a traditional breakfast which came stone cold. The bacon so hard I couldn’t cut it. The pancakes with fruit and syrup came without syrup. The server said she would return with syrup. She never came back. When I went to the till to ask she came back to my table at the end of the meal to say syrup doesn’t come with the meal. Really badly run branch - the staff need to learn the menu and all be on the same page and the chef needs to make sure the food is hot. Burnt cold toast isn't great - surely toast is a basic.
