The food was terrible and the staff were not welcoming at all. We had a baby with us and they put us on a table by the ladies toilet and then made us move the chair that her car seat was on because it was ‘blocking the route to the ladies toilet’, The owner was rude and we will be giving this place a wide birth from now on! No one else was eating there which says it all really!

Haven't been here for a while has it has changed owners/cook. Atmosphere was brilliant and the staff gave us a very warm welcome, orders were taken very quickly and the service was spot on . However the food was below standard and my wife left her complete meal, we struggled on and made the best of it has it was my wife's birthday. When we got home and sat down i asked everyone what their honest opinion was and they all said the same we had all thought the same and did not want to spoil the evening after a great start to the day. It is not my aim to give a negative opinion but sometimes it's best to be honest. I wish you well for the future.

Such an amazing meal at the Red Cow Inn! After being rudely turned down at the Butchers Arms for food we came to see if the Red Cow was open. We ended up having a brilliant meal here really great clean food, decent prices too. My friend said the lasagna was one of the best pub lasagna she had, I had the steak and ale pie which was really flavourful. Also the halloumi (or “halloumi-oumi whatever it’s called” as it was dubbed by the barman) starter was lush. The thing that made our visit was the gentleman behind the bar, he was a cracking character absolutely lovely to talk to and a laugh a minute. After the terrible stand offish reception we got at the Butchers Arms we were so glad we came to the Red Cow as this chap made our night and cheered us up.

A great choice for a lunch out! Food was very satisfying. Great to see a gluten free menu, assured cooked with a separate fryer! The staff were very welcoming and extremely helpful ensuring we had everything we wanted, and one of our dishes was truly gluten free (even adapted one that wasn't on the menu!). Local beer was superb - Grey Trees brewery!

After driving to Pen Y Fan from Newport and climbing the mountain in wind and rain my friend and I were soaked to the bone and looked on line for a pub that does both grub at 3pm on a Saturday and was dog friendly… we found this little gem called The Red Cow Inn! We called ahead and the lady was sooooo lovely and saved us a table as we said we would be half hour… The outside of the pub is sooooo traditional, such a delight to see some old British pubs are still thriving rather than being torn down! The inside didn’t disappoint either! Welcoming staff immediately at the door… A roaring fire in the background, along with regular patrons dotted around the bar, it was beautifully buzzing! Got two cold pints of Madri with change from a tenner… amazing traditional home cooked food options it was like taking a step back in time when everything on a menu was appealing and full of proper British “pub grub”! I had chicken curry half chips half rice and it came with warm bread..The chicken reminded me of when my mama made curry and it was all “stringy” yum yum. My friend had chicken in whisky sauce and we both devoured the meals like it was our last! We ordered 2 sausages for the dog and that wasn’t a problem at all x They were HUGE lol. (Mac says thanks! Woof!) FYI the chips are to die for!!!!! They were the proper cut potatoes deep fried but even I can’t make them like that!!! Amazing!!! Whilst eating we were asked how are meals were (outstanding and fresh!) as soon as our plates were empty they were cleared with a smile… 😊 There was a young sweet girl as well going around the pub clearing and wiping tables constantly… Unfortunately we had to be somewhere else at 6 and our table was rebooked or we would’ve stayed and just sat by the fire… On leaving the young man who took the cash payment was delightful and we left the change it was more than well deserved… but it’s not about that, it’s about knowing that there are these little gems of British pubs still existing even if you have to drive a little to get there! I can’t wait to return to the Red Cow Inn as we climb mountains down that area very frequently… I’ve told all my friends… and can’t wait to return… PLEASE go to this pub.. it’s truly a special place. Xxxx Thanks… love Sally and David x from gloomy, miserable Newport lol 😂

My wife and I came across this village pub whilst coming back from penyfan , we popped in for Sunday dinner and we were asked if we booked , to our delight the bar manageress managed to fit us in the large conservatory area . Within 2 minutes a young girl came over and took our order and within 10 mins had the best Sunday dinner to date , it was mouthwatering, the beef was so tender . When we were about to pay for our food we noticed it was cash only ( our fault for not looking because there was signs everywhere) and again the staff couldn't do enough for us they even gave us a lift to the nearest cashpoint. The manager was very knowledgeable about the area telling us about other walks in the area . We will be going back has its our new favourite pub . 10 out 10 from start to finish.
