Always visited this pub when passing through Llanrug with friends and tonight I drove out of my way to have a meal there. I phoned to reserve a table and specifically asked for a cod meal. Staff obliging saved one for me. Came quickly and beautifully presented. First mouthful didn't taste right but I carried on breaking it up and tasting bits. Parts cold and rubbery/uncooked. Other dinners saw me smelling it on a couple of occasions. Waitress noticed that I'd left it and asked if it was ok but I said I couldn't eat it and explained why. She removed it and didn't return. 1.5hrs later I've had serious upset stomach so I phoned them to complain (something I've never done anywhere) but they'd had my money and didn't want to know. They said I'd eaten it all and yet said he'd tasted it 🤮 after me. 🤮. How unhygienice of him. Customer service missing, never to return 🤮

We were a very fortunate walk-in as all the other tables were booked. We were greeted by a human dynamo in the shape of Mel, who ran front of house single-handedly for the first hour. She was friendly, cheerful and extremely helpful. The food was excellent, we both had the sea bass, which was beautifully presented and tasted even better! It seems churlish to make a negative comment, but we both found the waffles a bit too much - one would have been enough! An excellent experience and one we shall repeat next time we visit the area.

A great place to see old and new bands from all languages. Great nights to be had here.

We stayed with a big group of friends this weekend and the whole experience was great! The place is clean, and has a really chilled and welcoming vibe. Food was delicious (especially the lime and ginger cheesecake!😁) staff are all super friendly and helpful, will definitely be back again!

What a fantastic place to stay, we rented a self catering unit which was extremely well appointed and so very comfortable. The unit had everything we needed, to be able to cook a range of meals. We also ate in the restaurant on a couple of occasions, the pâté is first class. As was the special, seafood lasagne, which was superb ! The cooked Welsh breakfast was incredible, plenty to eat, which set us up for the day !

Called in for coffee and cakes. Took ages to be served but staff were pleasant. We sat upstairs and appreciated the heating being on as it was a cold day. The coffee was weak and we only drank it to warm us up. My dad’s iced bun was more like a rock cake. The bara brith we bought to take home was the worst we’ve ever had. Completely dry and tasteless. Best thing about this place was the clean loo. Would not return.

Really enjoyed our Sunday lunch here. The special roast was a braised lamb shank which was exceptional and my wife’s roast beef was as good. Good size portions and quality ingredients, got to say the roast parsnips were out of this world. Catered for my gluten intolerance too. Definitely will return and soon.

My wife and I have lived in Caernarfon for over 15 years. We frequently visited the Caban for what we consider good meals and film nights. Yesterday we decided to take another look and see how the place had moved on. What a disappointment, three teenagers were serving table, if that's what you could call it. 1. We sat waiting to be offered a menu for 20 minutes while the three of them carried on chatting. 2. The girl who served us was, impolite, abrupt and disengaged with us and the task at hand. 3. When she served us she practically threw our orders on the table. If that what passes for good service you've got it all wrong. For a late afternoon lunch it was expensive. A really disappointing experience, lots of expensive arty farty rubbish on the menu and no prices on the blackboard.
