This pub is just fabulous and very dog friendly. The food was amazing, and I would recommend the chicken curry, it was delicious. The staff were so welcoming and friendly, as were the locals. I would suggest booking as it can get very busy. We will definitely come back when we are in the area.

Fully booked on the night but they went out of their way to accommodate us . Very friendly and helpful staff . The food was hot freshly cooked and flavourful . We both had broccoli & Stilton soup which was delicious. I had lentil & muhroom pie , which came with fresh crispy puff pastry & my husband had goat curry which he said was absolutely delicious. Really rate this pub . Would highly recommend.

I spotted this pub on the way to the Bala Lake Railway that is just down the road. Popped in and made a reservation to return later. A broad menu for all tastes in Welsh and English from which we chose a Chicken and Chorizo pie and Whole Meal Scampi. Both were excellent, nicely presented and large enough for the hungriest customer. The young lady who served us was excellent - quietly spoken and very efficient. An excellent meal that completed a lovely day in Llanuwchllyn.

We were recommended Yr Eagles by a local Airbnb host when staying nearby. The pub was walking distance from our cottage which was most welcome after a long drive. The place had a great atmosphere and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We were there on a Sunday and had the roast, but be warned, the portion sizes are generous so you may want to ask if a children's portion is available if you don't have a good appetite. The food itself was great; plentiful and very tasty. One of our group also had the vegetable curry which I'd definitely have if we get the chance to return there one day.

Lunch was great. There were thirty of us and we all had this fabulous Shepherd's Pie with lovely chips and veg. It was made on the premises, extremely tasty and filling. As if that wasn't enough, we had apple and mincemeat crumble with custard to finish. Every single person said it was delicious. Service was great and everything was piping hot. You couldn't have asked for anything better. Diolch yn fawr.

We have been going to this pub for years and so wanted to return since having been taken over. My daughter had sausage in a basket but the sausage was cheap sausage like from a chippy. My husbands chicken burger was ok but my steak pie was bland. We sat in the restaurant side yet still had to order our drinks at the bar and when I'm paying 15.50 for a pie, you should be served your drinks at the table too. The staff were very welcoming and helpful but we wont be rushing back.

The wife and I decided to book a table for Sunday lunch on recommendation from a friend ,and Iwe are very glad we did.The hospitality was excellent, the staff were very pleasant and polite showing us to our table ,we were given menu's to browse through as they got our drinks, the menu was plentiful in choice and prices very reasonable. We both went for a 3 couse lunch which we both struggled to finish but we did ,the portions were plentiful, nicely presented and most of all hot for a change. The serving staff were excellent and they were making sure we were ready for the next course before bringing it to the table ,no rushing. If ever you are in the Bala ,Lanuwchlyn area and want a good homemade meal call in to the Eagles in Llanuwchlyn, you will not regret it ,The bar meal menu looks very impressive and reasonably priced too

My wife and I booked a table on a Thursday evening. It was quiet when we arrived and we were greeted by cheerful staff. I ordered the French Onion soup followed by the pork belly on mash. The soup isn’t something you often see on a menu and was balanced by meaty onion moreish goodness. The last two spoonfuls brought sadness; I wanted the bowl to be bottomless. The pork belly arrived with lightly steamed veg and was slow cooked with a crunchy toffee-like crust and set on a bed of mash into which a lot of herby flavour and butter had been smuggled. My wife had the garlic mushrooms which were a step up from the normal breaded offering. Incredibly garlicky, fresh mushrooms cooked through with a tarragon cream sauce, on a slice of crusty sourdough. Her smash cheeseburger in a pretzel roll had great texture and was “just the right side of dutty” Delicious hand-made coleslaw went some way to restoring respectability. We were the first to arrive, and by the time we rested our forks the pub which was thronging with other diners, the darts team, young locals and scrubbed up farmers chatting warm beery nonsense. Great cookery and cheerful company. The Eagle has Landed…and after that meal he’s not taking off again for a while.

We'd driven 3 hours and wanted a meal ad didn't find anything appealing in Bala so I drove down the other side of the lake to see if anything would turn up. As it happened, Yr Eagles did and What a Find! We arrived just before opening at 17:00 but were invited in and showed to a table. We had drinks and then ordered food and I had an outstanding gammon steak meal and my Wife had lasagne which she said was very good. Other customers were soon arriving and it's obviously popular. Evverything about it was excellent so I'd be happy to return deliberately in the future!

This establishment has all the hallmarks of a cosy village pub. The staff were welcoming and efficient and couldn’t be more helpful. My wife had the lamb shank with red wine and rosemary gravy, together with Welsh new potatoes. I had the chicken with mushroom sauce. Both dishes were cooked perfectly and served on lovely hot plates. The portions were such that we just couldn’t manage desserts. Sad, really, because their bread and butter pudding has an excellent local reputation. As a dog-lover, I was delighted dogs are not allowed in the restaurant but are welcome in the shepherds huts outside. The staff receive so much abuse for this ruling, which is totally unfair. They should not have to put up with it. In my opinion this is the best restaurant around and commend it wholeheartedly.

Yr Eagles is a great place to eat in this tiny Welsh village. It offers home cooked fare, rather than pub grub. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We ordered trout from the Specials Board and chicken in a white wine sauce with mushrooms. Both were delicious. For sweets, my husband had bread and butter pudding, while I had two scoops of locally made ice cream. Everything was delicious. My only minus point was that wine was not offered in a range of glass sizes. There were only small bottles of red, white and rose available.

Strange little pub in the village Basically the local corner shop with bar in it. What i found bizzare was that this is NOT a Dog Friendly pub, yet is the only pub within 10 miles of the village and campsite which is nearby. Surely they are missing a trick here. They a have a little shop at the back selling groceries and bits and bobs. There was some heavy encouragement from the barman to buy a few bits if we needed anything, which we can appreciate is another income stream for them in these trying times. I was rather disappointed with this restaurant. The reviews were so good, I was expecting outstanding service and terrific food instead it was really nothing to write home about. We were served by at least 5 different youngsters who (bless them) kept on forgetting our drinks orders. When our food finally arrived it was none of this "Amazing food" or "Perfect meal" that other reviews described but just plain, average, standard pub grub. Burgers were adequate, fish and chips were just acceptable... In fact, I am pretty sure that the peas came out of a tin. Altogether a bit of a letdown!

We popped in here for Saturday lunch after a bracing visit to the railway. The car park was packed so we were expecting a fight for a table, but as it was it was just a large group of Welsh speakers (possibly a club/society) meeting for lunch. Initially, I was worried it was a "local pub, for local people" but I could not have been more wrong! Firstly, it was beautifully decorated for spring/Easter with daffodils eveywhere and the prettiest country scene in the large picture window. We were greeted really warmly and had our pick of tables. I ordered the fish pie with chips and my husband ordered lamb chops with mash. There was a bit of wait for food, but it was well worth it. All of it was so, so tasty, especially the mash! Great chips too. Despite the fact we were both full we couldn't resist dessert, I had the pavlova and my husband had the bread and butter pudding. Again, really tasty. All this, plus two drinks each for £45, so really reasonable. If we're ever in this direction again, I would definitely make the effort to visit and will be recommending to anyone visiting Bala.

We stayed literally 10 paces away, in the cottage across the road, so we took advantage of all three services offered by Yr Eagles. Namely a shop, which had all the basics we needed when arriving at our cottage; a pub, serving great local beer; and a restaurant, which we ate in three evenings running.Yr Eagles is everything a pub serving its local community can be. It provides the only shop in the village, where you can buy a newspaper and all the basics. But it's also extremely welcoming to all. It's predominantly Welsh-speaking, but English speakers are made to feel at ease. I love the way that after a rainy day the bar was packed with local kids and their families. letting off steam and totally at home. If you hate this idea there's a more formal restaurant in the lounge, by the way. But equally it was possible to hang out at the bar for conversation and good beer.Food isn't gourmet, but just the kind of thing that families would happily go out to eat all together. The kitchen uses local ingredients wherever possible, and most of the meat is from its own home farm. It's very well cooked and offers generous portions. To be totally recommended.

This is the proverbial hidden gem . Tucked away off the main road easily missed especially as on the four occasions we visited the locals had parked right across the very tight egress and exit . Neither of the babies wanted to sit into the high chairs and were TOTALLY ignored by the on their phone career's. . Asked to be re seated and the helpful staff ,Rhianna and Fflur obliged and understood our distain (and pain on the ears ) Then the man from Deal ( Kent ) greeted us like he does to all . Food tremendous ,well cooked and plentiful .The home made chicken and leek soup was fantastic, thick and very very delicious . Enquired as to why no real meat Shepherds pie only Veggie ? to the guvnor . Replied , "Because we can " Burger thick juicy tasty ,thick quality bacon . No room for deserts . Two things on the downside . Clean throughout but only a very damp tatty towel upon radiator for those that bother to wash hands within the gents and not ejecting disrupting children . You are advised to book if you want to eat here as on many nights they are very busy. Great food and huge portions. Dogs allowed in bar but not restaurant. Doubles up as a shop during the day and you can get newspapers and other essentials which is handy as no shop in this village

It was only 6.20 on a Saturday evening when we arrived, but there were only two spaces left in the car park and the Eagles was already packed.

Went here on a recommendation from the campsite owner. Glad that we followed it up on our last night of camping in the area. Food was amazing, especially the lamb shank and lamb Henry. Portion sizes for kids burgers were more than enough for an 11 & 12 year old who were more than a little bit hungry after a long walk and playing on the water in a kayak! Best garlic bread I’ve had in a long time. Deserts were delicious. Staff friendly and food came quite quickly.

We walked here from the train station. We had got the train from Bala to Llanuwchllyn. Had the choice to either stay on the train and go back or kill 2 hours by having lunch in this pub. Decided on the pub lunch option.

It wasn’t busy when we were there which was surprising as it’s near one of the Bala railway stops. Nice beer garden. It’s about half way round the lake if you start in Bala.

This is a lovely traditional pub, very busy on a Saturday night! Warm welcome and a good menu. They source their meat from their own family farm but also had an excellent selection of home cooked vegetarian and vegan dishes.

Was reccomended to go to this pub by the owner of the B&B; we stayed at. Was a Saturday night so we're very busy, but our food came out promptly and was devine. I had the lasagne and my father the burger, both were fresh and local and some of the best value for money food I've ever had.

Stayed for a week's holiday in Bala. This pub got the nod over closer places due to its extensive choice of veggie options. Well worth the trip - food, service and atmosphere were all top notch. Highly recommended if you're in the area.

Nice little pub. Seemed to be the only pub in the village. Very busy. Was missed on service for a couple of locals and was busy so maybe that was why. Food looked good but we didn’t try due to how long it took to get served. Would try again

This is a delightful country pub with friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere. We were a family group of eight and everyone enjoyed their meals. Several had the lamb shank which was superb. Servings are generous. Our house red wine was good and inexpensive. I'd recommend the Eagles.

Highly recommend definitely recommend the lamb not only homemade but homebred from the family farm can't get better than that. Lots of choice, good children's menu and good beers too.

We had reserved a table just in case they were busy, they weren't! Nice small restaurant area away from bar with a jovial atmosphere. We ordered drinks at the bar and were told which table to sit at. Waitress said she would be with us shortly to take our food orders but alas she had completely forgotten about us and was happy taking other orders from guests arriving after us. We waited for 20-25 minutes before going to the bar to give our food order. Waitress did apologise for forgetting us.

We stayed in a lovely cottage right next door to Yr Eagles (at the time of posting we're still here!) and we knew when we booked that the pub would be next door but thought it would just be a convenience as aposed to an essential.

A group of 48 of us went to Yr Eagles for buffet lunch yesterday on the recommendation of Bala Railway. The food was fantastic and extremely good value for money. The room was light and airy and a very relaxing atmosphere. The staff served us very efficiently and were most helpful. 1 person ordered a vegan alternative - which looked brilliant and she said was delicious. Everyone was most helpful and ensured we were catered for within our time scales but without being rushed. Excellent. A big thank you to Eleri and her staff who helped make our day trip out a success.

Called in for coffee and cakes. Took ages to be served but staff were pleasant. We sat upstairs and appreciated the heating being on as it was a cold day. The coffee was weak and we only drank it to warm us up. My dad’s iced bun was more like a rock cake. The bara brith we bought to take home was the worst we’ve ever had. Completely dry and tasteless. Best thing about this place was the clean loo. Would not return.

A wonderful find - such a great restaurant! The menu is small but wow; the choices are fantastic. The coconut chicken was perfect, roast potatoes were delicious and the beautifully cooked. As a coeliac and dairy intolerant - would definitely recommend.

A thoroughly enjoyable evening. We started with a drink on the terrace and we were given the option of eating out there too and we did. A beautiful view and a perfect spot to watch the sunset .Definitely planning on returning.

Home cooked food very nice and very reasonable prices. Been twice now and intend to go again this week. Worth a little wait as everything cooked from scratch
