Bishopsgate Restaurant in Isle of Anglesey

Bishopgate Resturant Beaumaris, had a delicious 3 course dinner. Food was pipping hot, flavoursome and steak cooked to perfection! Staff were attentive and kind. Highly recommend 👌 Thank you to Bishopgate Resturant chef and staff 🙂

Stayed for 1 night to attend my fathers memorial service. Hazel was amazing from the get go, warm welcome, and very compassionate about the cirumstances. despite me arriving a little early for the 3pm check in she showed me to my room with no problem. Hazel even offered to take me to my next destination when she realised I had arrived by train and then bus to Beaumaris and said she even would have collected me from Bangor if she had known. Had a meal in the evening and it was perfection, all the food is locally sourced and is super fresh and beautifully cooked and presented. Nothing was too much for the staff. It's an old Georgian building and the rooms are cozy. The bed was super comfortable. Staff were attentive and helpful and I was even allowed to use the room after check out to freshen up for my onward journey. I am going to stay again, thank you for making a very difficult time a little easier. Give Ringo a belly rub from me x

Beautiful and fresh food that was far beyond a standard ‘pub’ menu. The host was extremely friendly and we could dine with our dog too as long as we pre-booked. A very well stocked bar and they were happy to make us aperol spritz and offered other cocktails as well as a nice wine list. Would recommend above other pubs in the area.

Upon arrival we were greeted by a lovely lady who welcomed us and showed us to our table. Our daughter is veggie and the chef went out of their way to make a pasta dish for her which was delicious. We dined with three adults and 2 young children and all of our food was amazing, very tasty, fresh and well presented. Service was outstanding, thank you to all three ladies you are a credit to the establishment and we appreciated your wonderful service. After our meal the lovely lady gave both of our children Easter eggs, they were thrilled! What a very kind gesture. We will definitely be back again - best restaurant in Beaumaris in our opinion! Very comfortable stay with the room having all the little extras you might need. The evening meals and breakfasts were delicious. Parking was limited and a bit of an obstacle course to get in and out. The proprietor went out of her way to wash my wife’s coat after she had fallen in the mud. Will certainly return.

One of the best meals we have had in a very long time. All fresh, beautiful produce, very attentive staff and very reasonably priced.

Fabulous food and service! We had Smoked Duck and potted Stilton and port with Artisan bread to start which was superb Followed by lamb fillet and sweet potatoes and creme brûlée to finish 😋 Superb restaurant with lovely relaxed atmosphere. Linen tablecloths Will definitely be back very soon!

Just back from a 2 night stay at The Bishopsgate Hotel and although the room/facilities were incredible I wanted to mention how wonderful the Restaurant was. The Goats Cheese starter was cooked just how I like it and my husband had the Pate, both faultless. Main cause I had the Chicken Cassoulet, wow! It was so tasty and moorish I really didn't want it to end. Portion size is just right and everything was obviously freshly cooked. Well done everyone there, from the front of house team ; the friendly efficient housekeeping but on this occasion well done to the chef and Restaurant team Wonderful food and fantastic team .

If this hotel is in competition with the Bulkley Hotel in Beaumaris, it really has nothing to worry about! Meal was excellent, there really was nothing to make any negative comments about. Service was professional and friendly. In our opinion, this is the best place to eat in Beaumaris.

Visited for an evening meal, really good quality and tasty. Pate and duck for starters followed by lamb amd hake, all lovely, fresh and cooked really well, would highly recommended. Lovely oldy world interior and great staff.

The Bishopsgate is a lovely old building in an excellent location in Beaumaris. The hotel offers parking, a rare facility in the lovely old town, though it will test your manoeuvring skills. Our room was very comfortable and clean. The only downside was the lack of WiFi or phone signal in the room though we could find these elsewhere in the building. Dinner was excellent and breakfast quite good though the coffee wasn't great. This was our first visit to Beaumaris and hopefully won't be our last. We will definitely return to the Bishopsgate again if we can.

We stayed for a few nights of 'B&B'. Good location, comfortable bed, but terrible internet service. Very slow and dropped frequently, didn't work in some areas of the inn. Their parking area is also very small and hard to maneuver; had to use public street parking for a couple nights, which was thankfully safe and not far away. Very friendly staff.

This comes across when visiting as a family friendly hotel which is putting itself out to provide what the customer wants. We had asked if they could provide Soda Bread. The owner did not see this as a problem and brought in copious amounts as I am allergic to yeast. We were there for 4 nights and had chosen the hotel as it was the only one on Anglesey with a rosette. Unfortunately there had been a water leak in our room due to storm weather but immediately the owner had reduced the price of the room without our asking. A carafe of sherry was available in the room which had a king size bed and the usual facilities for a 4 star hotel. It has a 5 * scores on the door rating and is generally clean with good food. Staff wee friendly and often asked how our day had been. We found the price of ice cream prohibitive for one scoop but other than this we were happy with the breakfasts and dinners and stayed there for 4 nights. Some guests may find it useful to note that there are times when large parties eat at the hotel for a celebration and on one of these occasions, we ate elsewhere at a local tapas bar which provided good food too, recommended by the hotel. Parking was available behind the hotel but if you have a very large car some drivers may find it a tight squeeze entering / leaving when people have parked opposite in the road running alongside.

Went because food had got an AA rosette, and truly the food was excellent. Sadly that's where it ended. We had booked a table for 7.30 p.m., but when we arrived we were told we had come at an inconvenient time and put in a small room (the naughty cupboard?). A few minutes later we were brought menus, but no suggestion we might like a drink. When we were shown to our table it was in a corner of a large room, totally dominated by a 90th birthday party for about 20 guests, who were already well oiled, and "lively". In due course our fish platter starter arrived, but no-one thought to supply plates from which to eat it until we asked. Starter and mains were excellent, but when we got to dessert, I was favouring the Bakewell Tart, which came with cream, OR ICE CREAM FOR AN ADDITIONAL £1.50. Definitely the first time I have ever been asked to pay a supplement for ice cream in lieu of cream.

We booked for an evening meal, bringing our dog with us, so we knew we were seated in the bar area. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. The food was fabulous, cosmopolitan and traditional choices to satisfy our family mix of veggies, steak lovers, and chicken fans. The Thai curry was outstanding. Everyone had a great time and it will be the first place we'll book when we are back in the area.

Our second stay this year...been many many many times..Hazel and her team are wonderful...the restaurant is excellent...real a la carte meals in a cosy setting...hope to be back in December...yes we love it !! 😀

We arrived at the hotel and struggled to find the parking at first it was around the back down a very short lane/road then into the parking area which has enough room for 8 cars max , my car being over 15 foot long made it a bit difficult to manoeuvre around ,especially as the lane had cars parked which made life very difficult to turn the corner , the hotel room was ok though my wife complained that there wasn't enough light to read properly , the bath/ shower was pretty good ,the bed quite comfy, the evening meal though a little limited was superb the chef obviously knows his stuff the dining room was fabulous the staff were all excellent , couldn't really fault anything, the breakfast in the morning was just excellent can't say more, the following evening we noted that the Liverpool hotel next door was rather more pub like with a huge range of meals so we went there instead the meal there was excellent too.

Excellent (pont neuf) chips with the minute steak. Friendly service and not overpriced. Recommended.

The restaurant has a very inviting menu. I had artisan bread followed by the chicken which served with a wonderful cassoulet

We were not staying at the hotel, but we visited for dinner as the menu piqued our interest. The welcome was warm and both waitresses were working hard to ensure thta everyone in the place was looked after. We shared a seafood platter as a started which was exceptional and super fresh. For mains we had the duck and the haddock. Both were delicious and served on hot plates. Wine choices were good too. When we went to pay the bill at the front desk we also saw pictures of rooms, and I suspect that if we return to Beaumaris we would choose to stay at the Bishopsgate Hotel too.

We had a lovely stay in a light airy room with 4 poster bed and well equipped even a small decanter of port /sherry we didn't drink but was nice touch ,bathroom clean and bath robes supplied, breakfast and evening meal were top class ,right in the centre and 1 minute from beach, staff very efficient and pleasant and dog friendly so we'll definitely be back

Food was ok, but lacked finesse, a bit too much glaze on the salmon. Crème brulee was freezy inside and brownie tasted not like home made. Restaurant was cosy and staff provided good service.

What a pleasant surprise, very welcoming in every respect. Food is really top dollar, our room ticked all the boxes. A little quirky.

They fitted me and my daughter in at last minute in bar area and we are so glad they did, the food was outstanding full of flavour my daughter had sea food platter to start I had pate then followed by beef bourginon and Welsh lamb both melted in our mouths. Our hotel was fully booked for dinner so we came to the Bishopsgate and were very glad we did. Attentive staff and a relaxed atmosphere set up a fantastic dinner. Sharing platter for starter was delicious and main courses were cooked to perfection. Great wine at a reasonable price made for a memorable evening. We came away feeling that we would book a room next time as well as return to the restaurant.

Restaurant: Wow! Exciting menu, perfect portion sizes, everything cooked to perfection. We ate here twice for dinner and everything we had was outstanding. The restaurant has AA Rosette award and surprised it hasn’t had a Michelin star yet, the food really was special. Service was great and atmosphere lovely, favourite meals of the holiday.Hotel: Lovely stay, retro decor which we liked, rooms clean. Sherry and chocolates in the room were lovely! Breakfasts were lovely and the restaurant staff in particular were absolutely fantastic throughout. We noticed management seem to get on their backs a bit - really not necessary as they are doing a fantastic job in difficult circumstances and could teach their bosses a bit about customer service. All in all a lovely stay with an exceptionally good restaurant/chef.

Although hotels & restaurants are closed at the moment, you can order a Sunday lunch to take away-free delivery for over 70's who live locally & £1 from every meal ordered goes to the local Brownies.The food is plated up in the kitchen, & packed up in insulated boxes. It's just as delicious as when you eat in the restaurant. Well done Hazel & team!.

Booked for Sunday lunch,it was a bright but very cold day,we were ushered into a lounge ,to wait yet the dining room was empty There was a fireplace but no fire,needless to say we were cold.The order was taken and we were taken to the table,again the room was cold.Very nice starter,the roast lamb,over cooked roast potatoes and parsnip.Why can’t they realise that if you are going to serve cold meat ,you need a very hot plate and hot gravy,it was just ok,Pudding was goodWith a little more are it could have been excellent,please buy some table knives that cut .

We had a lovely 3 course meal here. The first course being a sharing platter of seafood was very tasty and we then enjoyed our main and dessert courses. The service was friendley and prompt. Well worth another visit.

To set the scene - 6 of us were self catering in Beaumaris celebrating our granddaughter's 21st and wanted restaurant quality evening dinner delivered. Bishopsgate House Restaurant certainly delivered on all fronts. Hazel was extremely helpful in accommodating vegan, vegetarian and normal food. It arrived promptly and efficiently in hot serving dishes and tasted delicious. We were told to leave the crockery outside in the box for collection the next day. Thank you Hazel and staff it was an amazing evening and wouldn’t hesitate recommending you.

Ate here several times and the food is wonderful. Very attentive staff and they use local ingredients and do wonderful things with them. Good value for money and lots of choice.

We went to the restaurant for an evening meal midweek and had a superb meal. Very tasty, perfectly cooked so we will be going back

This is a very nice little restaurant. The staff are lovely, very polite and good at their jobs. The food was a bit traditional but very pleasant I could not fault it. The only negative comment I have is that it is a bit out of date. The decor, the stuffy white table cloths and crystal bottle holders. The pretend book shelves and dried flower vases, it’s all a bit 1990! People were whispering instead of talking. I think they need to update the decor and try and improve the atmosphere a little. Can’t knock the food though, delicious! And thanks to the lovely young man who served us. The food makes it worth a visit.

Myself, my wife and an elderly Uncle went out for Sunday Lunch. Service was excellent and the food very good, The waitress was especially kind to my elderly uncle. It was an excellent experience and will be returning again soon for lunch in the bar area with our little dog.

Lovely place full of character with friendly and helpful staff. The dining room may have white linen tablecloths and a traditional feel but in no way is it stuffy and they made our 9 and 13 year olds, as well as us 4 big kids, very welcome. The food is excellent with a good choice - all produce seemingly locally sourced and fresh. I had the lamb with dauphinois potato and mint and red currant gravy. Wow, possibly best lamb ever. Beef, mussels and seafood pasta dishes all went down equally well.

Nice little restaurant setting with quite nice food. The early bird menu is very good value for money. The fish sharing platter is a little on the small size for the price and the mussels were quite chewy and not as nice as the other menai mussels offered around Beaumaris. Pudding of cherry bakewell with custard was lovely though. It was very quiet when we visited and lacking in atmosphere. The owner was very welcoming but the other staff member was quite brusque. Nice for a hotel restaurant but not a real destination in competition with the other restaurants Beaumaris has to offer.

Bang average at expensive prices! We ate in the bar as we had a dog with us. There was plenty of space for four adults, a toddler, a baby and a dog. Other cheaper, similar food available nearby. Decor was dated and formal. It feels like this place is trying to be something it isn't. You would expect excellent food at the prices charged. Although the food was ok, I wouldn't go again. I can't believe this is rated so highly.

We are on holiday near Beaumaris and we arrived today. We had eaten from here before with much enjoyment and so we we were looking forward to our visit. We were not disappointed!! The food was of the finest quality and we had a most enjoyable meal.

The Bishopsgate restaurant offers good, basic, hearty meals. They have lovely soups and plenty of tasty options for dinner. We had two breakfasts here and both were excellent and catered for us and the teen children.

Just wanted a simple meal out and somewhere to take a vegetarian. Place full but still cheery service, good choice of food. Had a great evening. I just wonder why I waited so long to return as I enjoyed it so much.

We stayed here for a week and loved it. The hotel is really well located for exploring Anglesey and Snowdonia. The rooms are comfortable and the food is excellent with great menu options and an interesting wine list. We stayed for a week and ate here every night. The service is really good with a personal touch and the owner is always on hand to make sure that you have everything you could want.

Room very low ceilings but restaurant was good. The "bath room" too small and the head clearance not adequate.

We booked after receiving a “buy a gift” whilst holidaying in the area. The service was outstanding, only taken from the bar when our first course was ready. Starters we shared the fish platter and it was beautifully fresh, I had lamb & my husband had chicken supreme. There was so much meat ! Followed by Tart Citron and Bakewell tart :) not to mention more wine. We wouldn’t hesitate in booking again & will possibly stay next time .

Needed a break away after busy work period and could not have found a more genuine and friendly hotel and restaurant. The food is fabulous and just the right amount of veg to make us feel that we weren’t leaving great food on the table. Welsh Lamb and a beautifully cooked steak with gorgeous sauces. Homely romantic place in a typical style that is not over pretentious or fussy. Thanks to Hazel and Ian for a lovely experience. Would DEFINITELY return again and again.

We both had a well cooked meal which we could not fault, but we found the presentation, decor and surroundings were extremely dated and because of that we felt it lacked any kind of ambience.
