Staff Service 5Star. Special mention for Sophie, Kate, Adam, Matthew, Mr Mohammad Salim who were outstanding exponents of Excellence in restaurant customer service. They are Outstanding Assets to the World renowned MacDonald Resorts Hotel Spa and Golf Group.

Visited these guys for breakfast whilst staying locally. We received a warm welcome from the staff who were friendly and professional. They have a couple of good breakfast veggie options, as well as soya and oat milk, we went for the veggie breakfast and the avocado on toast. They were doing something with the smoke alarms when we were there, so that caused a bit of a din, but didn't really detract from our visit.

Never stay at this hotel. The restaurant food is delicious and large portions. My family use to regularly eat here every Sunday before Covid. After Covid there's a staff shortage that affects the quality of the services. I only visit the restaurant again because the hotel is closing on the June 2nd this year. It is sad to see the hotel close. Hopefully someone buys this hotel and turn it into an apartments.

Called in here for a bite to eat and overall very happy, bit of a limited menu but each managed to find something suitable, service very good and friendly and the food was very nice and tasty special mention to the sticky toffee pudding for dessert which was fantastic. Sadly I have been to a couple of eateries in the gretna area in the past which have fallen below an acceptable level for me but this is not one of them and would certainly return here.

We make a special visit from Edinburgh to this Restaurant 5/6 times per year, the food is very good although expensive. I ordered and paid for Fish & Chips and Greek Salad with Keish ? for my Wife, with our drinks.£32.00 The young Man came to our Table to advise there was no Keish ? left. My Wife re-selected Greek Salad with Prawns & a portion of chips I was asked to go to the Counter with the Young Man to adjust the order and was asked to pay 95p difference between the cost of the Prawns against the cost of the Keish ? which I did The food was delivered to our table my Fish & Chips arriving first, my Wife advised that I start my meal while it was hot. My Wife's meal arrived and She was enjoying the Greek Salad but there was no Prawns. I was asked to go to the counter to pay for Prawns which had been omitted, I refused and my Wife had some of the salad, the meal was spoiled for her. No Prawns were offered. This spoiled our visit & our day out! She Managed to spend a further £35. in their shop. No more visits to this venue, complaint very badly handled.

Found this gem of a place after a walk around Stranraer and managed to find a table on a busy Saturday morning. We had the scrambled eggs on toast and one of the delicious apple pastries with soooo tasty coffee. We had to wait a while as the place was packed but the staff were dealing with the queue very efficiently. Very friendly atmosphere too!! Loved everything about this place

This hotel has lots of cosy, quirky corners as well as an impressive larger dining room. We were here for Sunday lunch (note - this menu differs from other days) and were presented with a reasonable choice of well priced mains. Everyone's food was lovely (the roast beef was cooked superbly) - generous portions and beautifully presented. However there was no mention of small portion options which many places now offer - one of the group struggled to even eat even half of the meal (and sadly couldn't even consider dessert) so while the food was lovely, it would have been nice to have had more appropriate options for folk with smaller appetites without wasting food.

We were given a one night stay voucher to the Cally Palace Hotel as a present, so we were quite impressed by the massive well kept grounds surrounding it in the countryside near Gatehouse Of Fleet. Quite an impressive building to view as one drives along the driveway to this imposing building. A building opens up to a rather sumptuous reception area as one enters through the large front doors, to be met by friendly well knowledged staff, and this feeling of sumptiousness continues as the corridors to the various parts of the hotel are walked. Our room (115) had a balcony and faced the rear, with a view over one of the golf holes and lovely very old trees, so the sun entered the room in the morning, although the heavy curtains disguised the fact that it was daylight outside. The room was spacious having lots of storage space for all a travellers needs, and had all that was needed to enjoy a stay at this hotel. The huge beds were very comfortable and we slept through the night - just like babes. Our room had been described as one that had been 'recently decorated' (how long ago?) however, being kind, it really needed some attention to the lighting, shower plumbing, bath panel, squeaking bathroom door, and to the decoration once more as it showed signs of wear and tear. Dinner, served in the Dining Room was very nice and the waiting staff were both friendly and well informed on the menu choices, and the choices to select from were broad and inviting, what we selected to eat also tasted very good - 'well done!' to the kitchen and serving team. We also enjoyed the gym, swimming pool and hot tub - excellent, felt so refreshed after using these facilities which were faultless. Breakfast was a good experience, with a vast array of well presented fresh fruits and foods for 'all tastes' available - eat till you drop buffet, and if required special food requestes are readily and happily catered for. Again, an army of well trained servers were on hand to support all patrons needs, Well done!. After breakfast we enjoyed a stroll in the grounds / golf course taking in the fresh air wafting from the nearby sea before finally checking out. All in all a very good overall experience, the minor 'issues' with our room may have been unique to that room only. Yes, we would return and enjoy the facilities of Cally Palace Hotel, the attentitive, friendly and knowledgeable staff and the beautifuk surroundings in a pristine corner of Scotland.
