Incredible restaurant with stunning views. The food is simply gorgeous. Michelin standard food with none of the pretentions.

Do not make any requests, or you will be met with an intimidating stare and a passive/aggressive response. It made our stay quite difficult, but we stuck it out as it was peak season at the time. Also, our room more suited to a single bed category - with a double bed squeezed into it, there was barely enough room to move along one side of the bed and around the end of the bed, as it was so close to the wall on two sides. There are plenty of other good B&B's in the area who will be glad to welcome you.

This cafe within the same building as the heritage centre is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday through the summer season and staffed by volenteers who prepare all the food, soup cakes etc themselves. This is good homely food. I was informed that on the days the cafe is not open there is a mobile van serving pizzas and crepes parked in the car park. There are also toilets at the centre which is a bonus.

Very disappointed with this venue . When we arrived at 12.50 we were greeted by a sea of dirty uncleared tables and a sign at the entrance saying that they were only open till one oclock that day . When I got the attention of a staff member to see if we could at least get a drink as they were according to the sign open till one all the very rude woman could do was point at the sign and mutter something about being to busy .very unpleasant thing to do to anyone but especially rude to someone in a wheelchair….we went for a walk and got drinks and ice cream at a little cafe on the other side of the canal . Walking back about an hour or so later the out side area was still a mess …won’t bother going here again

We stayed one night, myself, my husband, parents and our daughter. Had drinks and dinner. Salmon, steak pie, burger and fish and chips. All were excellent. Mataias was the bartender, and was wonderful. Room was lovely. We had a view of the waterway and the weather was beautiful today so we’re able to walk along the docks and visit Fort William. Great deck out by the water we were able to sit on until sundown, and then the bugs came out, so back inside! The only downfall, is there are a lot of winding stairs. A bit understaffed early on in the afternoon, but by dinner fully staffed. Staff were friendly and met quite a few new friends throughout the evening. Great ambiance, would definitely return.

I really wanted to give this a better score but I'm sorry, I just couldn't! Let's start with drinks: real ale - if you're pouring real ale, know how to do it! Pouring it the way you pour a pint of stout, won't give you the right results - you'll end up with a frothy pint that soon settles down to a flat pint. Also - keep your ale at the right temperature - it was WAY too cold. The service. This is where some of the points come off the review score. The barman, come waiter was pleasant enough, even if he wasn't particularly chatty. He was absolutely rushed off of his feet though and couldn't cope (not through any fault of his own - he was trying to take orders, serve food and pour drinks (and serve them) for a full restaurant). Inevitably, he ended up making mistakes. Half my chips were split on the floor. They were to be knocked off the bill - it didn't happen. I didn't complain (and I'm not complaining now - just telling it how it was). I felt sorry for the guy and would have hated to be in his position, so I think the last thing he needed was me complaining about some chips. The food - excellent. Good size portions (even without half my chips, haha) and the food was really tasty. Value for money - hmmmm another reason for points off the review score. It's just a bit on the pricey side for the type of dish offered. It is, to all intents and purposes, 'pub grub' but prices for more up market restaurant food. In comparison, we had more or less the same meal a couple of days later in Fort William, for almost half the price. Take a couple of quid off of each meal, learn how to condition and pour real ale (the CAMRA website will give you all you need to know in just a few minutes of reading) and get some help in for the poor guy who was ran ragged and I'm sure you'll end up with 5 star reviews on a consistent basis.

Absolutely awful, this place would be better closing its doors, stopped here yesterday for lunch with my wife as it’s always been great,, however once we entered the building we realised what a mistake. The so called manager needs to wake up, the place is a shambles. The main buffet section was blocked off with chairs and a little kiosk was attempting to sell some miserable hot food options, most of which was unavailable. We had potato and leek soup and it was dreadful. The sandwiches tasted as if they had been made up for a week. The dining room was filthy with food all over the floor. Given that this is popular tourist stop, what a terrible impression it gives of Scotland’s food and drink industry. We will not be back.
