Soup came had to send it back as it was not hot just lukewarm.after finishing water 15 mins for highlander burger with a whiskey sauce on arrival soup bowls still on table waiter had to juggle to serve us unfortunately this was not what we got served no black pudding no whiskey sauce wrong burger waited 10 minutes for sauce meal cold asked for refund waited at bar for12 minutes For someone to come refund.sorry can not recommend and wont

Na een dagje hiken op de West Highland Way hier ‘s avonds gegeten. In ons gezelschap van 4 namen we 3* de steak pie en 1* de chicken masala. Beide gerechten waren lekker. De bediening van Archie was zeer vlot em vriendelijk. Het restaurant is eenvoudig maar gezellig en heel mooi gelegen aan een meer.

Visited the Bothy Restaurant in Kinlochleven on a trip to Fort William. Enjoyed dinner and served by an excellent waiter called Shay. Would recommend.

A grim hole of a place we unluckily happened upon at the end of a hike in the area. Place was filthy when we arrived, every table covered with dirty plates and glasses uncleared from previous customers. We arrived at the same time as a larger group and tried to order coffees. The barman (Asian guy) lied to us that the 'machine isn't working' so he could concentrate on serving beers instead. (We know the coffee machine was fine cos our friend who'd arrived 5 mins before us was still drinking hers.) Don't like dirty bars or being lied to, so one star.

Read the reviews mostly good so decided to give it a try. Beautiful drive from Glencoe. Not the most inviting looking place and to be honest we would’ve pulled up and turned around and left. But trusting the reviews we went in. Staff very friendly we had fish and chips and homemade steak pie. Couldn’t fault the food very reasonable as well. If in the area worth a visit amazing views from the windows of the loch.

Transitional Scottish pub. Fantastic food. Best haggis. If you are scared of haggis, try it here. It is delicious. Good music and vibe too.

Brilliant music, delicious food. Had the steak pie. There was loads of tender beef in a rich gravy. My sister had the tree hugger burger and said it was really tasty. Gorgeous view and friendly staff. After a 12 hour journey this was a brilliant find.

A luke warm tasteless venison pie, Cullen skink the worst I've had. Two stars for good amazing staff.

Made a booking but when we arrived nothing ready. Self Service ordering but at £12-13 a main course, this is a joke. Staff were quite non verbal, why have a job dealing with the public if you can't have a conversation with your customers. Were not in a rush to clear the table either. Don't understand these other great reviews. Lots of tourists in, what on earth are they thinking when they end up in here. Food wasn't terrible, not expecting chocolate fudge cake @ £6 wasn't even hot. I get everyone having troubles with electricity bills, but come on.

The bar has indoor and outdoor seating with an amazing view! A great selection of gins and whiskeys. You will see everyone that you met on the West Highland Way that day. We especially liked the onion rings.

Not a ton to choose from along the west highland way in this area, and this was a good choice. We had some ok pizza, would probably take a burger or pub food were we to go again. Drinks and service excellent and atmosphere casual. Loved that they take reservations and the view was incredible.

The views are amazing, as was the beer, the service was also good but the food was very poor. The Cullen Skink had bacon in fish stock (no haddock in sight), frozen veg still swimming in water, overcooked crunchy vege haggis and a tiny portion of 3 tacos, little more than a starter. No response when we said we weren’t happy with the food. Maybe visit for a drink and look elsewhere for food.

The bar in the McDonald Hotel, in Kinlochleven is great, with what must be one of the best views in the country. The service is excellent, really friendly, and couldn't do enough for us. The food is good quality 'pub grub', and was the best we had on our week's long walk.

Well... aren't we happy we stumbled onto this little gem! Nestled between Glencoe and Glen Nevis mountain ranges at the end of a Loch with no name, we just had such a wondeful evening here! The outlook was truly to take your btreathe away! The service and staff we're incredibly welcoming and freidnly and bar had a great energy to it which was comlplemented by a wonderful fireplace and excellent selection of scoth and gin's. My burger could of used a bit more love but my wifes venion pie was excellent and my young daughters food was excellent. I would highly recommend an evening or two at the Bothy Bar and a stay in Kinlochleven itself!!!

Staying in Glencoe for the weekend and decided to give this place a try after reading all the good reviews. Arrived and from the outside it looked a little run down, but we had traveled over half an hour to get here and all those five star reviews made us venture inside. We ordered drinks and food (goats cheese pizza and a non bull burger) and to our surprise we were given a shop bought pizza with a few extra ingredients added and what appeared to Birdseye chicken burger on a bun with some lettuce, pickles and chips. Couldn’t fault the service but can’t understand the five star reviews.

Excellent menu with lots of veggie choices at reasonable prices, good quality food, friendly and efficient service. Locally brewed River Leven Ales pilsner on tap, plus a decent selection of other drinks. We really enjoyed the bbq jackfruit tacos and the “bothy pot” special of chicken curry. Large dessert portions, very filling and well presented. We went in the evening in October when it was dark but looked like they had a nice terrace with a view!

Our meal was delicious but the best thing was the happy waiter who provided enthusiastic, personalised advice and went out of his way to give the best recommendations (especially on what cider to drink!). The atmosphere is the right balance of lively and calm, with a wood fire adding to the experience. We liked all the fairy lights in the window and the hand-painted west Highland way depiction on the wall next to our table!

Food and waitresses were amazing. Dog friendly was a bonus. HOWEVER the wheelchair access was rediculous, the man at the bar was very rude and spoke down to us as I was taking my gran (in a wheelchair) to the toilet she forgot her mask outside and he was raising his voice to us saying “it will be you that gets charged £1000 not us” I explained it was a MISTAKE that everyone does! He changed his tone after I changed mine. Absolutely rediculous the way he spoke down to us. One of the lovely waitresses asked my gran if she would like her to get her a mask. But the man behind the bar expected me to go all the way back outside when I struggled even getting her though the doorways. There was just no need for the attitude and the rudeness he spoke to her over a mistake. People will forget things, he will make mistakes in his life. Don’t jump down someone’s throat.

Seen a few reviews for this place when we were looking for somewhere to eat when staying at Ballachulish. About a 20 minute drive away but soooo worth it, had a Rump steak, chips, onion rings and pepper sauce and it was one of the best steaks I’ve ever eaten! Was so satisfied and worth the short drive away from our accommodation! If we are ever up near there we will defiantly be back! So reasonable too :)

We started by having a drink downstairs in the pub. It was a great spot to chat with other hikers. Upstairs in the restaurant there were great views particularly from the deck. It was very busy due to a large amount of people in town for a mountain race. Despite this the service was prompt and our meal was very good.

The bothy bar is a lively, welcoming establishment with panoramic views over the Loch. We ordered burgers with sides, all of which were excellent. Then real ale was great, while staff were welcoming and provided a high standard of service.

The Bothy Bar was filled to the brim, but behind a shared wall is an Italian style restaurant called The Purple Stag.Comparatively, we had our choice of seating as there were hardly any tables taken.We were served quickly by our water and offered breadsticks and water. Staff: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Sweet, attentive and helpfulSticky toffee pudding is the best thing I have eaten yet in Scotland! Garlic and chili prawns were less than impress with no heat from chili’s and very little flavor outside the melted butter. The sticky toffee pudding was amazing!!!! Brown cake soaked up the warm thick toffee syrup that was accompanied by a scoop of ice cream. My partner had the venison lasagna and said it was fantastic-flavorful and filling.

We stayed at Macdonald hotel and decided to eat at the Bothy Bar in the evening. For a Tuesday night it was very busy but I think people eat at the restaurant even if they aren't staying at the hotel/cabins. There was a good selection on the menu and my family and I all opted for burgers. We had desserts too and we all enjoyed them. I would reccomend eating here, not only for the food but for the view.

We did not eat here unfortunately. The food looked good. It is a relaxed friendly bar with great views of the mountains and lake.

The Bothy Bar has one of the best views in the whole Highlands. It is stunning and you just can't believe how beautiful that bay is. We had burgers and a pinte. Burgers were well done (Highlander and Goatie), very tasty - and the brioche was premium quality. Really polite and likeable staff are just a plus to the whole experience. Must see place if you're in that part of the Scotland!

While on a walking trip around Kinlochleven, we went to the McDonald hotel restaurant for dinner.

We were looking for somewhere to go on a dreich day whilst camping. Had a lovely freshly prepared lunch with the most amazing view. Pool table was great for entertaining the kids and the dog was happy with her treats from the friendly gentleman behind the bar. Thoroughly recommend the Cullen Skink!

The baked potato was not fresh (they turn white after a few days - I used to work as a chef so I know) and the lunch selection in general was mediocre to say the least (only soup, baked potatoes, sandwiches and deep fried snacks). Service almost seemed bothered that we were there and they did not even greet us when we entered. Plus for beautiful view but as for the rest a big dissapoinent.

We had a great meal here 1/2 chicken chips very good beer just what we needed after 21 miles on west highland way views to die for of the lock very friendly staff and our dog blue was made very welcome with treats thanks for making us so welcome .

We visited the Bothy Bar with a group of ladies walking the West Highland Way. It was a 10 minute walk from our inn but worth the effort. Food was good and staff was fun and attentive.

The bar is part of the adjacent Mcdonalds hotel.There is also a camp site and cabins on the complex.

Such an amazing atmosphere, amazing view and brilliant burger and beers. Can also offer you accommodation for the night if you’re travelling. Very friendly. Food was brilliant. Go for the Highlander! 🖤

You would pay a fortune ordinarily for a view like this . Just stunning at the end of the Loch with views to the west . We all chose different meals and were all satisfied with our choice . Serving staff were very friendly and condiments when asked for came immediately ( so important in a restaurant)

The last night of our six day walk and I must say the hospitality and food has been buy far the best we have received. The hotel is beautifully situated with amazing views and the atmosphere is great. Highly recommended 👌🥃🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Three of us came here for dinner as we were staying just down the road. The views of the loch are insane! The staff are very friendly and service was great.

I love this place! I have visited many times for both work and leisure and have never had anything other than great food, good beer and friendly service. The views down Loch Leven are worth the price of a pint alone and on a sunny, midge free April day they were nothing short of stunning. As usual, I had the haggis, neeps and tatties and, as usual, it was an excellent choice. It was very busy on this visit with the usual mix of locals and hikers crammed in for a pint, meal or game of pool. Recommended wholeheartedly.

After a long day in the hills this lovely place is an oasis. Stunning views, lots of local gins and well made comfort food. Very generous and delicious Cullen Skink and the sweet potato fries were fab.

We have stayed here a couple of times and it's just one of the best places you can go. Excellent atmosphere with great food and drinks. Such a warm welcome. The views are spectacular. Make sure you have your camera.

I visited the Bothy Bar on a Friday night. They had a special on Steaks, which included a bottle of wine. I must say the food was excellent. The steak was cooked to perfection.

The best view, the best food, the best friendly atmosphere, music, fun, dog friendly, clean and tidy. A lot of activities in the village for adults, kids and families.

Excellent vegan options, wonderful wine, great whiskey selection, and friendly staff. What more can one ask for?

Fantastic food, great company friendly staff and great ambiance I could not fault a thing. If you are in Kinlochleven drop in for a visit. I will return on my next holiday!

We have eaten here regularly and taken visiting family in for meals. Also popped in for a beer at the bar. During the spring to summer its very busy but dies down at the end of the hiking season. The staff are polite and engaging . The view up loch leven from the window on a good day cannot be beaten. The menu is pricey but then again you get what you pay for. Big portions and all freshly made ( including their own pickles for the burgers). Local ales on draught and a huge range of malt whiskies. Pool table and TV showing the games on request. What I love about this place is the vibe. So many languages chatting away at the sametime but everyone greeting each other and content.

Such a warm welcome on a very wet day in October, soggy dogs in tow. Homemade soup was delicious, the dogs were kindly given some treats too

We had one more day left of the West Highland Way and were exhausted. It was a good 15 minute walk from where we were staying to The Bothy Bar, and we almost didn't feel up to it. But we were glad we did it once we got there. It was pretty busy (Saturday night), but we got a couple seats at the end of a table right away. The atmosphere was very laid-back and relaxed but with a tinge of excitement (probably other walkers almost done!), and with kids playing pool, football on TV, and dogs laying under tables. We had burgers, fries, and a local craft beer that was excellent.

Myself and two friends had breakfast at the Bothy, service, food and surroundings were very good. The shop next door is stocked with all the Buffalo Farm products and well worth a visit.

Some friends got together after a day of the West Highland Way and enjoyed burgers, whiskey, and some divine sticky toffee pudding.

We read some of the reviews & thought we better try it for ourselves & we are glad we did, what a great little bar serving some amazingly tasty food, I had the Highlander burger & the wife had the sliders both dishes looked amazing & tasted just as good! Service was fast & staff were very friendly will definitely be going back

After a day of hiking the West Highland Way, we walked from our B&B; in Kinlochleven to The Bothy Bar for dinner. It was raining that evening, so the bar was quite full inside, but we were able to get seats at a farmhouse-style table with others. The views are incredible and I think this would be a great place to sit outside. We ordered beers and Highlander burgers at the bar. The burgers (topped with black pudding and haggis) were the best of our entire two weeks in Scotland. They really hit the spot after a long day of hiking! The bar was filled with hikers and had a great vibe with friendly staff. We’d highly recommend eating here or stopping in for a pint while in town!

Every time I stay in Kinlochleven I end up in this lively bar with great views and good pub food and this trip was no exception. It was a busy evening so it took us a while to find a table but it was worth the effort. The burgers are really, really good here. I had the Goat Cheese burger, it was beautifully cooked and tasted great, good chips and a couple of pints of Wildcat ale made for a restorative evening after a long day on the West Highland Way!

I have used this bar on several occasions with years gaps in between visit and the food is always the same lovely.It dosent matter what you have its all nice.A very popular heaven for alot of hungry people.The service is good the staff are lovely

Si j’avais un pub, je voudrais qu il ressemble à celui-ci. La vue est incroyable, les burgers succulents et le personnel très accueillant, aux petits soins ... Ayant deux enfants en bas âges, ils se sont montrés très avenants (chaise haute à disposition, coloriage, ...)

The view is to die for! Otherwise an unfussy pub with wooden tables and benches, catering mostly to hikers.

Lovely little pub/bar. Great atmosphere and had two great meals. Vegan dish labelled on menu and was super generous, tasty and filling. Liked the place so much came back twice. Delicious beer too. And warm! Fully recommend, especially for vegans as not that much in the area.

Great views of the loch from the bar, would be great to sit outside when the weather's good (unfortunately in our case it was raining). The service was really fast, the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was decent pub-quality food - not amazing, but good.
