We ate an excellent dinner here in the Invergarry Hotel on the last evening of our stay at the local campsite. We both had wonderful ham hock terrine to start, then super fish and chips / veggie risotto, and shared a truly decadent brownie with home-made ice-cream chock full of berries. Friendly, efficient service in a pleasant room, and pretty good value too. Almost wished we'd come before our last day...

My usual stop on the way to and from Skye. The staff are always friendly and efficient. Had lunch, evening meal and breakfast. Lunch was a very tasty salmon and cucumber sandwich, with nice soft fresh bread, salad and crisps. Evening meal, always good food too. The breakfast has a good selection of choices and sets you up for the day. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Called in for lunch on route to Skye. Had to track down staff who were congregating in the bar area. Enquired about lunch and handed a menu. Told to come back to pay and order. Menu wasn’t very inspiring so ordered the sandwich options at an eye watering £11 +. Purchased soft drinks and handed a tray to take them back to our outside table (4* hotel???). Two plates of sandwiches arrived. The “Tuna Melt” was possibly the worst I have ever experienced. The ciabatta was dry and tasteless. The “chef” had simply spread some tasteless cheddar, a few bits of red onion and a sprinkling of cheap tinned tuna. No sign of any mayo or seasoning. The “melt” was pathetic - slightly warmed under the grill. The side salad was pitiful and the accompanying minuscule portion of crisps just added to the depressing experience. Needless to say, my wife’s cheese sandwich was no better - tasteless cheese and tomatoes with the same pathetic sides salad etc. How anyone can justify over £30 for such a poor meal and a couple of soft drinks is beyond me. The fact that the staff obviously don’t give a toss just added to the misery and we left extremely disappointed. It’s a shame that no one enquired about whether we had enjoyed our meal as I would have gladly given them this feedback.

Called in for lunch as we have used hotel for food on numerous previous occasions. On looking at menu did consider it at the upper price end for sandwiches but decided to have one anyway as it sounded okay. Seriously disappointed on its arrival as it was a miserable sandwich made from two slices of supermarket bread not homemade bloomer. It came with a salad you could have covered with an eggcup and about 10 small crisps. The chips were equally poor quality, overcooked but soggy. I should have sent it back right away but persevered as I watched a table of French tourists leave a lot of their food, pay up and leave not looking best pleased. I duly paid for meal grudging every penny and asked staff member for a feedback form. ‘We dont do them or online either’ was the reply. So this is the only forum available. I don’t think this was the first time staff had had complaints and tried to justify everything but didn’t offer me an audience with the manager and as I had to travel on I didn’t push it. Very disappointing and cringey seeing foreign tourists having to leave food because of the quality. Won’t be stopping there again.

After a meal cancellation at the hotel I was staying at in Fort William, I needed somewhere for food on the way from Skye to my hotel. Having stayed at the Invergarry Hotel the year before, I knew the food was really good, so booked myself a table. Friendly service and really wholesome food (I opted for the venison lasagne)...I ended up wishing I was staying the night so I could have a beer in the cosy bar area. Maybe next time!

What a perfect place to stay! This small family owned hotel in Invergarry is charming with super helpful professional staff. The hotel does not have many rooms …maybe 9 but they are beautifully appointed, super clean and comfortable. The hotel sits next the river, and is on the junction of two busy roads - but don’t let this put you off - it’s quiet at night. Our accomodation include breakfast ( freshly prepared ) and interesting. The hotel also have a fully stocked bar and serve light lunches and delicious dinners. The chef here is brilliant! They have a general menu with something for everyone ( Vegos, GF) but also do a specials menu at night that showcases the local produce. I can say this has been the best food I’ve eaten in Scotland!

Although it was later for the Sunday roast they did serve us with 3 roast dinners, our special request that one of the meals be a small portion for my mother. We the meals arrived they were 3 large portions which put my mother off, the excuse was the chef didn't realise. My point is the waitress took the order but still proceeded to bring the large portion and the meat was too tough for her to eat putting right off her meal

Very poor choices and very poor food too! Booked a table for dinner - met by the bar manager (?) Who looked very slovenly as though he had slept in his clothes- not the best impression! Very limited gluten free choices - I decided on gluten free fish and chips but was surprised to find then covered in salt!! I hate salt - I asked why and was told that's the Norm - why have condiments on the tabel?! I asked for no salt n my fish and chips were replaced but still came back with salt on chips - eventually they were served OK- but the gluten free batter looked insipid and half cooked! Hubby had a burger which was lost in salad and sauce! Both dishes not worth the price at all. Just as we were leaving 2 plates of 'normal' fish and chips were being served to customers- they looked appetising and delicious. When we paid we commented that food looking like the 'normal' fish and chips is what we expected unlike our food that in contrast looked and was unappetising!! We won't go back when in the area!

Our Sunday lunch, booked for the second service at 5pm, was a huge disappointment, and spoilt a family occasion. We arrived ravenous, after a full day out in the beautiful surrounding highland scenery. Evening service begins on Sunday after 5, and we arrived shortly after. We all ordered Roast Beef but the quality was disappointing, thick, tough slices of beef. The Yorkshire puddings were, to be quite honest incinerated, blackened on most sides and dry inside. I complained and asked for more but their replacements ( arriving almost immediately after!) were equally blackened and unappetising, and I sent them back, giving up at this point. Clearly, these y.puds had been reheated and were undoubtedly left over from the lunchtime service, likewise the parsnips, which were dried out. To be fair, the roast potatoes, mashed swede and cabbage were acceptable. What particularly annoyed me was the attitude of the staff however. When the barman collected our plates, two half full, and asked the customary 'Was everything alright?' I told him it was the worst Sunday lunch I'd had had for a long time. He became argumentative, telling me that they served the y.puds crispy - sorry, they were blackened, there is a difference!! One of us had cleared the plate, only because of extreme hunger, but clearly because of this, no refund was offered. We were asked if we wanted anything else, but given the attitude of the staff, we couldn't leave fast enough, paying in full without further comment, which would have been pointless. I genuinely believe that the staff involved really didn't care at all that we had had such a miserable experience. Given the location of this hotel, on a major tourist route, they no doubt feel that they don't have to try very hard. This was a depressing experience and my advice would be not to bother stopping here.

During our unexpected 6-hour hike around Loch Oich, the idea of a late lunch at the Invergarry Inn was keeping us going. At 11 am we had seen a sign saying that food would be served from 2 pm onwards. When we arrived, a board outside stated “open for food”. We walked in at 4.45 and were told (in an unwelcoming/ inflexible manner) that food would only be served from 5 pm - there were other guests eating. Nevertheless, we were so hungry that we waited for 5 pm to come. However, when the food did come (which admittedly was fast), it was very underwhelming - very basic salads. All in all a disappointing experience. The waitress with the bright red lipstick (Emily) had an attitude, which is a pity, as other members of staff were making an effort to be welcoming and customer service oriented.

We had fond memories of a delicious meal and stay here a couple of years ago so thought we'd go again. Big mistake. The food was either dry and tasteless, or soggy and tasteless. We had been staying in Invergarry on a short break at a family holiday home and we vistited for dinner on our last night. The girl looking after us for drinks/food order was lovely but overall the food was average - ok, but nothing special. However the older man, may be the manager of the hotel and brasserie we found to be quite unfriendly, abrupt and after we had asked him for the bill, he actually came up to us (not with the bill), but asking us to talk quieter since there were hotel guest bedrooms above where we were sitting. Given 1) it was approx 9 pm in the evening and 2) we'd already asked for the bill to walk home, we felt it was pretty rude and actually completely unnecessary for him to even bring this up. Next time we visit, unfortunately we won't plan to return there.

The tables were well spaced, so we were not aware of any other customers conversations. My Mum's favourite is fish and chips. The waitress said that the fish was the size of a whale, but that they could do Mum a child's portion. This was ideal for her and she was presented with two golden crispy battered pieces (think jumbo sausage size) and skinny fries. My Mum loves tartare sauce and said the home made stuff she received was super. My chicken parmigiana on ravioli was absolutely delicious. We were far too stuffed for dessert so took our drinks to a cosy sitting area and let our bellies down. Would eat here again in a heartbeat. It's a shame we live so far away!

We ate here on a relatively quiet evening. 3 of the 4 adults in our party ordered fish and chips and the other adult ordered their special beef burger. We saw food being delivered to the next door table and it looked delicious...definitely whetted our appetites. Sadly, when our food arrived it bore little resemblance to the other table...almost as if there had been a change of chef mid evening! In particular, one of the portions of fish was very over-done with huge amounts of double thickness batter far out-weighing the dried out fish inside. Similarly the burger arrived in a bun with simply a load of shredded lettuce and chips and not a lot else...indifferent at best! Still hungry but without much enthusiasm we went on to order desert...and thankfully they were a significant improvement on the mains! The chocolate brownie/ice cream concoction was a particular hit...So, overall a tale of two halves!

We live locally and popped in for lunch. We ordered the spicy fish cakes which comes with salad and we ordered a side of chips. Food was really beautiful, well cooked and presented and of course delicious. Both waitresses/bar staff lovely and friendly. Will be going back for lunch again soon.

Four years ago we stopped here and had the best scones we'd ever had in Scotland. This time we brought along a friend and, once again we were treated to the best scones in Scotland. Three on a plate with cream, jam and butter. Too good to share and worth every calorie.

We happened to be passing at around lunch time, so decided to give this place a go. We had a delicious steak and onion baguette with chips, which went down a treat. We found the service to be very quick.

We popped in for an evening meal while camping in Invergarry. The service we received was excellent from the start. The girls were very friendly and also took the time to go through the vegan options for my wife. I would miss out on the starter next time as wonderful as it was due to the size of my plate of fish and chips..it was huge. I would highly recommended visiting the brasserie but i would advise that you book a table as it can get very busy..

Checked in on 11th ,had booked small room with double bed.Stairway to second floor-room winding and dangerous. With a bad backache it was so very difficult for us to take our luggage up.And now the room given was a attic room, hit my forehead hard the moment I entered.Could not walk straight even as it is just a attic space with very low slanted ceiling on both sides.Any person with medium height can’t enter straight. While lying on the bed I again hit my head behind .Can’t shave/brush in the bathroom. Although kettle was provided, there was no electric point. They then disconnected TV and fixed kettle plug.Moved out now ,cutting short the stay here. And well wifi is only around reception area on ground floor.

Abbiamo dormito in uno chalet singolo in una fattoria, vicino. Posto bellissimo. Il padrone di casa ci ha indirizzato per la cena in questa brasserie, ma non aspettatevene una francese. Ad ogni modo, siamo stati bene e ci ho mangiato il miglior fish and chips nella mia avventura in terra di Scozia.

Now labelled the Inverscary by the children, I have to say I was absolutely disgusted with the way the staff behaved on our visit to have dinner at the Brasserie. We were clearly tourists, I’d warned the manager 3 of us were vegetarian. To keep this to the point, the place is more of a run down pub and not worthy of the 4 stars and overpriced menu, we were seated next to the gents toilets, waited 20 minutes for 2 drinks, (other guests were eating in drinks too) the children were served beef lasagne instead of vegetable. It was after my daughter tasted it I noticed it wasn’t veggie. As a Hindu this is totally offensive and unacceptable. Of course I was angry and upset as was the whole family. The manager didn’t come over to apologise and had a go at me for verbally abusing the waitress instead. I was angry not abusive. Any well trained manager would recognise that. The children didn’t get their replacement meals for 20 minutes by which point they didn’t want to eat. We were charged in full, treated like pariahs by all staff at that point, and didn’t receive one sincere apology! The managers words to quote ‘mistakes happen’. She continued to give us back chat until we left. Petty minded and not apologetic at all... she followed us out of the door and removed the guest book, not that this place seems to care what guests think. Sorry we didn’t leave a tip..... but I’m sure your owner will appreciate why.

We stopped off here for something to eat on the way to glenfinnan. The atmosphere was friendly. The menu has a range of options from fish chips to pork and rice. The food is cooked to order. Despite this the waiting time for it to arrive is not too long.

We would class this as standard bar food. You have to bear in mind that this is a hotel so the prices were not too expensive for what you get, two main courses with a beer were £45. We ordered fish & chips, cod, a burger and aubergine for the mains and actually none of us were disappointed. Not a huge menu but you have to take into consideration where the hotel is located. It's probably the best place in this area. If you want better you'll have to travel elsewhere.

Spent a night here and dined in the restaurant called the Brasserie. They have a brass neck charging 4 star prices with 1 star food.. Ordered the garlic bread ( £4.50) as a starter which is billed as ideal for sharing . This resembled a frozen bake at home baton and clearly the bread was not made on the premises. Another member of the party ordered a bowl of carrot and coconut soup @£5.95 with a chipped bowl. Gordon Ramsay would have had a field day in here. NOT worth the £100 cost of the meal.

Pur non avendo prenotato ci hanno subito accolto es abbiamo ordinato un buon filetto alla crema di whisky, anche i dolci erano molto buoni....perché ho dato solo 4 stelle, perché secondo me il prezzo è un po’ alto

Not planned but on the way to Ft William and this was a good choice. Service excellent despite being swamped. All with a smile. Front desk and hotel manager chipped in to help. Server was Violet and top notch. Manager brought my historian wife a written history of the hotel. Fun time. All of us had an excellent meal. Huge burger topped with Chile, children’s lasagna and corn beef and potatoes with an egg. Very good. Dogs welcome. Quaint and historical. Can miss on this one.

The Fish and Chip Shop is in our experience is without a doubt the BEST IN CAITHNESS AND SUTHERLAND! The fish was white and flakes. fried in beautiful crispy batter and the chips were perfect. We have experienced other Chip Shops in Wick,Thurso and Helmsdale, plus Mobile Chip Vans in Lybsterand Dunbeath and this has been the best so far too. We travelled around 30 miles to eat here and would do so again. THANK YOU.
