Despite being in this chip shop with an exemption lanyard round my neck on previous visits this time the owner shouted at me to wear a mask. He was shouting that because I was exempt doesn't mean he is and he could catch covid from me! There was a large hard plastic screen between me and the staff and none were wearing a mask themselves. I went to car and wore the mask which then resulted in me hyperventilating. And to top things off the food was substandard

Having previously visited this venue a few years ago and was not happy we decided to give it another go, how different it was, the service was awesome, the food hot and tasty and lots to choose from, Beers were good, all in all very happy with HS1 and will be back again for dinner soon. Well done everyone.

Booked on line (2 plus dog) for an evening meal only to be told on arrival that we would need to eat in the bar; no issue with that, it’s very common generally. Unfortunately it turned out that the extensive restaurant menu “is not available” in the bar and the choice was from a very limited and unimaginative separate bar menu. Can someone explain to me why, if the food comes from the same kitchen, it isn’t possible to serve both options in the bar? Voted with our feet and went to Am Politician on Eriskay, excellent meal and no inane segregation.

Such a disappointment …..think they must have different chefs on different days. I had lunch on Tuesday , scallops with a delicious sauce and a light cheese dressing and honeycomb snap which was so delicious I went back the next day. Ordered same dish …..padded out with some form of very dry potatoes, no snap and sauce almost totally absent. Very dry and mediocre lunch…..won’t be returning.

We had booked 3 nights stay here but were a day late arriving as our ferry was cancelled, owing to fog. A 7 unit site with 2 showers with a toilet in the same room [En-suite]. One of the rooms was, imo, suitable for disabled guests. The facilities were clean with no extra charge for the showers. As the area was "remote" from the main site - hundred yards away and out of sight of the main site - access through the gate, into the shower/toilet block and chemical disposal point was by padlock code or Door Key Code. It worked and probably necessary as adjacent to the main road but slightly annoying. Good water supply and Grey water runoff easily accessed. The most expensive site we used in our holiday through the Outer Hebrides but West Harris Trust is a Community Charity so any profits presumably channelled back into Community Projects

We have just enjoyed a stunning meal at Number 30. Beautiful seafood chowder, then we shared the cod & seabass main dishes, very differently prepared, both delicious. We couldn’t resist the cranachan & pannacotta desserts, deliciously light & yummy. All in a peaceful airy room, with friendly attentive service.

Welcoming spot for coffee and homemade cakes with view of the Loch. Yellow siskins from the window and we were excited to see 3 sea eagles circling at the far side. Have walked up to the eagle hides and not seen any so it was a lovely surprise to see them from the cafe. Interesting museum so learned more about the history of the area. Definitely recommend visit here.
