Wonderfully friendly reception from the lovely young guy behind the counter, great selection of cakes and THE best gluten free chocolate cake we’ve had so far! Delicious cappuccino and gorgeous views out of the back of the cafe. Just stopped for a quick brew but the lunch menu looked tempting at good prices. Definitely a fab place to stop

Lovely friendly staff and excellent location and building. Good wholesome food and portion sizes at a reasonable cost. The only reason I haven't given it 5 stars is that service is a little slow - but maybe I need to adjust more to 'Island Time'!

Gluten Free available as someone with Coeliac disease the chef was fantastic. This is the first cafe I have been to that uses decent G.F rolls for soup. I buy these myself and was very surprised to see them on my plate. The chef was very accommodating. G.F pop cake was delicious and S.O had roll and sausage with egg. And a very generous slice of cake. Along with tea and coffee the total bill was excellent value.

We arrived at the museum to find a large coach party occupying every seat in the cafe and in the process of being served. Apparently the had arrived unannounced, with no booking. Very impressive! (And the food was good, too!)

After a couple of minutes a lad came out of the back and took our order. This was fine and I'd started to think that maybe the girl wasn't allowed to serve (even though it isn't a bar), but when I went to pay, she took the payment! Again, no smile, no thank you, nothing! Dropped in at the museum on the way from Eriskay to North Uist today. I was the only people there apart from the waitress and two owners, all.of whom were very friendly. I had a hot chocolate which was very good served.with cream and marshmallows for £2.50 which seemed good value.I also had a mars bar and crunchie tray bake??!! Bit of an odd combination and was certainly different but actually tasted very nice. Did think £1.50 for a very small portion of it was a little much though.Would definitely stop again and recommend to all.

Stopped by with the family for coffees, hot chocolates and cake mid morning. Typical Hebridean community cafe sort of set up with great coffees and homemade baking. Very friendly staff and busy with locals and tourists alike. The sort of unpretentious place we really like. Lovely shope in the same complex. Shame the museum bit was closed but we'd certainly come back any day.

We stopped off here on several occasions while touring the Hebrides on our bicycles. It is an excellent place to either have a tea or coffee and cake or a meal. There are toilet facilities open 24 hours a day. The museum attached to the cafe is well worth a wander round - excellent value at only £2.00 each - it gives a real insight into life on Uist in past days as well as having displays of what the houses were like etc. Do not drive past Kildonan cafe - stop and have a look round the museum then go in for a coffee or tea - support the people who run this facility on a voluntary basis!

A local brought us here for lunch after a walk at Loch Skippit. Lovely friendly ladies working behind the counter, lentil soup was terrific, nice and thick, hearty enough for a S Uist day. Tried the haggis and cheese toastie for something different - not sure I would order it again but am glad I tried it. The home bakes were just delightful; the scones lighter than most and the Bakewell Tart went down a treat. Two of our party had tea and I tried the hot chocolate. All in all, a nice lunch, reasonably priced, with a pleasant buzz of happy diners around us. If I lived here I would want their soup everyday!

We had an excellent meal here. The food tasted home cooked, as in the best that someone would cook at home - that’s a compliment. The dining room is old style with dark wood furniture, big menu books,
