Double Mac in Eilean Siar

Despite being in this chip shop with an exemption lanyard round my neck on previous visits this time the owner shouted at me to wear a mask. He was shouting that because I was exempt doesn't mean he is and he could catch covid from me! There was a large hard plastic screen between me and the staff and none were wearing a mask themselves. I went to car and wore the mask which then resulted in me hyperventilating. And to top things off the food was substandard

One of the world’s best chippies...and I should know, I tried enough in my time. Always fresh, good portions, friendly service. Unmissable if you’re on South Uist.

Great food, great choices, Winston is an excellent proprietor. Fish supper and Jamaican chicken top choices. Highly recommend.

Great fish and chips, they do have other options which looked tasty but we went for the classic. It doesn’t look amazing from outside however the quality of the food was excellent, the fish so fresh batter crispy and chips great too. Sauce is free self service! Great meal for when visiting Uists!

The chips here are fantastic. Ask about their jerk chicken!! Highly recommend. Staff very friendly. The fish is very fresh. We ordered on a Friday eve and it was very busy, expect to wait but it’s worth it! We waited around 20 mins for ours (it was a big order)

Stopped at the Burnside cafe/chipper for fish and chips after a day out. We were a bit dubious because of the surroundings. Oh how wrong we were. Freshly cooked haddock of good size and quality and gorgeous chips. We sat at the picnic bench in glorious sun on our last night on South Uist eating the most fresh and gorgeous fish and chips. This little takeaway is a gem and I can’t wait to go back next year.
