We have been going monthly for years but since the restaurant has changed hands the lunch menu has been drastically cut back. Food still nice but not enough choices. If going monthly it will become boring. Prices have definitely not been cut back.

Went with family to have a nice breakfast but were all utterly disappointed. Very small selection of breakfast items and all potions were far too small. I ordered full Scottish breakfast but left feeling hungry after spending over £1, sausages both meat and vegan were very nasty in their taste and all items were below average for an premium price - never again.

We had been told by others that we should look forward to a high quality meal in an exceptional location overlooking our home city. From the very beginning we sensed that the restaurant was not going to live up to our expectations. The dining area did enjoy good views in all directions, but the furnishings were sparse with hard chairs and no table coverings. We were advised that we would have the table for a strict maximum of two hours. There was no à la carte menu, only a single choice for each course. The description of each course may have been appetising, but the portions were minimalistic, defeating even nouvelle cuisine in terms of their smallness. The service was very slow at times, with the result that we were informed that we would very shortly have to leave as our time had run out, even though we were still awaiting the dessert, not to mention the coffee. To make matters worse, the restaurant was noisy. For such an experience, the price was exorbitant, and it is possible to enjoy much better food in more comfortable locations in Edinburgh. As for the view, that is available for free.

I can not explain how disgusting the food was - I ordered sausage chips and gravy - which cost nearly £10 and there was something really wrong with the sausage and the gravy. It just had the most awful taste.

a quaint little cafe attached to a lovely, though expensive, gift shop. The food is very good and always made freshly once ordered. It's a tad pricey but no different tio the average decent cafe these days.

This was our last meal in Scotland on a week's holiday, and, I have to say, that we have eaten very well. Still, I think we saved the best for last. I have read some of the not so glowing reviews here, and I am sure that they are honest. All restaurants have off nights and some clients do not like the way the food is prepared. All I can say is that we were five adult family members and our experience was brilliant. The young staff were friendly yet professional. My starter, a special that day, was a chicken liver parfait. I will honestly say that it was one of the best things that I have ever eaten. The cod enteree also received rave reviews. One fellow diner was not so happy with the fish pie, which turned out to have hard-cooked eggs, that were not welcome. Otherwise, everyone enjoyed their food. Desserts were also very good.
