Visited today . But disappointed with cakes were dry & nothing like what you see. Had afternoon tea but when I have scones would.like to have cream with my scones & as the cakes were dry would have like cream with them. People were nice & they do try but needs improving

We went for afternoon tea yesterday at this quaint tea room whilst we had a stall at the art and craft fayre in the beautiful building. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I love the antique touch of Tea plates. There was a good range of homemade cakes to choose from As well as fruit teas, tea, coffee - the coffee was extremely nice we opted for a fruit scone which was lovely. There is no parking close to the building as most are resident spaces but it is worth the wander out of the hustle and bustle of the city centre.

Although I had a voucher for myself and a friend, we would happily pay the full rate the next time we visit as we were delighted with the service and the fare offered. Loved the fact that we each had our own teapots - the tea was delicious and we had china dishes! Am I 'old-fashioned' because I loved it. Good choice of sandwiches, scone with butter and jam (altho' no cream), and a good selection of cakes AND a glass of wine. Couldn't finish everything. The staff were very pleasant and happy to accommodate my request for a fresh pot of tea.

Sherlock Holmes Tea room is centrally located and very pleasant to walk into. The table was nicely set with china tea cups and plates and fresh flowers. The staff were very friendly and helpful. BUT - the actual afternoon tea itself was nothing more than mediocre. The cake selection was very poor and there were no gluten free cakes despite being requested weeks ahead for one of our guests. Also the gluten free biscuits that had been made available for them, had been placed on the same plate alongside cakes containing gluten. We were on a voucher, which even then we felt did not get good value. The full price of afternoon tea is £19.99 for two. The cafe are going to have to up the quality of their cakes and sandwiches if they are hoping to attract customers who are willing to pay this. As a previous customer has mentioned, I noticed lovely fruit scones on the counter but the ones served to us were certainly not the same - flat and uninteresting looking and certainly not tasty.

We were looked after by Robert and his wife and daughter the service was friendly. We were here with a voucher if we had paid the full price I would be asking for some money back. The sandwiches were fresh, the scones were flat not like the ones on the counter which were being served with cream to the people coming in without a booking. We had jam and butter no cream the selection of cakes nothing special or tempting (had been bought in) Certainly won't be returning. I was asked what I thought of the afternoon tea and I gave my honest opinion.

We had a voucher for afternoon tea, which was good value - I'm not sure I'd pay full price for this, but everything else on the menu seems good value. The sandwiches were delicious, as were the warm scones & the cakes were lovely too. The coffee was really good & unlimited. The service was great, very friendly & helpful.

I echo the previous review. It's an old fashioned tearoom to match the theme. A couple of sandwiches, an OK scone and a few bite sized cakes. Everything was pleasant but not going to set the world on fire

Bought a deal on line for afternoon tea. Set inside a spiritualist church the tea room is clean but the decor is just a lot of reference to Sherlock Holmes on the walls. A glass of fizz along with the pot of tea. The stand had a few sandwiches, a flat scone that was more like a bun than a scone and two pieces each of chocolate brownie and small fairy cake, and another small shortcake. Although it stated all home baking there was no cupcake or slice of homebaked cake as in other tea rooms. Good value for what I paid but no wow factor and would be disappointed if I had paid full price.

We had a simple cup of tea which was fine but others were going for full afternoon tea with bubbles. This is a relaxed and informal place, so it's no tea at the Ritz experience, but neither are the prices.
