Good meals but poor service,more than 50 minuts waitin' to 2 burguers,with the bar half full and no explananation at all..... Just a "sorry for the delay" there would be enough

One of the worst experiences I've had in the UK. It took 1 hour for my order to arrive. Horrible. Don't come.

The food is tremendous, and the servers are very kind albeit a bit overwhelmed. Be prepared to wait and follow up on your order!

Truly excellent pub grub to be had. Recommend the Duck hash.

We had a lovely dinner here - it’s a great pub. The service was friendly and welcoming and the food, beer and atmosphere excellent. We had the steak and ale pie - recommended!

Watch out for the already added service charge when you pay the bill...

Just stopped in for a glass of wine and lunch. It was nice sitting outside and eating! Food was delicious!

Nice tavern with a tasty and acceptable menu, not the best in Edinburgh either, but not bad. The QR codes on the tables are made of metal and almost no mobile phones can read them, so ordering is a bit of a hassle. You have to go inside. The nice waitresses.

We sat and asked for 2 beers and 2 fish & chips. They made me scan a QR, DOWNLOAD AN APP and make a registration with my personal data. THEN, they took ONE HOUR to bring the smallest portion of fish ever to be served in this island. And with peas, when I had selected specifically the <no peas> option. £50 for all of that. Which given the treat and the size, it was way too expensive. Never to come back again.

Such a cute and cozy spot with great food. Our service was excellent too.

We didn't have a reservation but despite that there was a table available in a lounge setting.. the beehive burger is highly recommended.. staff is nice and attentive. Eating with children is definitely recommended... in the early evening... then it's fun without children 🤣

Even though it’s located in the middle of the most touristy place in Edinburgh it feels genuin, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the whiskey and beer the serve, atmosphere is nice, a little bit dark as you should expect a pub to be and we had the fish and chips which was good as well. For the price and location, a really good pub for drinks and dinner/lunch

A great escape on a rainy Monday afternoon in April, still a great atmosphere with plenty of people inside, excellent service and good value too.

This pub was recommended to us by a tour guide. Sadly, it didn't live up to the hype. Drinks outside on the grassmarket would have been enjoyable. The bar dining experience on the inside was underwhelming, with high prices for mediocre meals. The Scottish stout on tap was the only highlight, for us!

The food was great, but our experience was let down by the service. After sitting at the same table for over an hour and having ordered a couple of rounds of drinks — as well as being served our meals by staff — we went up to the bar to order more. At that point, the landlord told us we couldn’t continue sitting there because we had a child with us. There had been no mention of this restriction when we arrived, nor while we were being served. To make matters worse, there were no available seats in the areas where children were apparently allowed. The pub was getting busier at that point, so it felt like we were being asked to move simply to make space for others. It left a sour note on what had otherwise been a lovely visit.

Was in for dinner as they were showing the masters. As our food arrived another customer requested the golf to be changed. Staff changed what we were watching without warning. We requested the other tv to be changed as there wasn't anyone watching the other game. We were told by staff "manager says no" after asking for the manager we were told " you can speak to him if you can find him"

We were so happy to find this pub while visiting Edinburgh. Food was great (luckily they had haggis fritters as a starter, so my friends got to tick off eating haggis from 'to do' list). Service was great, every member of staff we encountered was polite, patient and very cheerful. Atmosphere was good and we appreciated that even though football was on, they kept it muted and music was in the background. Definitely would visit again.

Food was absolutely delicious. Steak and ale pie with buttered mash and hispi cabbage with beef dripping gravy...omg so good!

Ordered entrecote which tasted good but almost half could not be eaten! And in the toilet there was urine on the floor!

Dropped in for a beer to avoid the weather and sat in the bar. Crowded with people. When we orded food we had to find us another table by our own. So the service could be better. I had the beef witch was tasty and cooked the way I wanted, rare! My company ate fish’n chips and was satisfyed. 60£

Great pub, live music. Gets very busy. Ate twice here as lovely food, lovely upstairs lounge for eating. Recommend the pie, steak & beehive burger.

We picked the beehive for a meal as it was fairly busy so thought the food would be good. The haggis starter was lovely but that’s where it ended. I ordered the chicken Kiev, but here was nothing garlicky about it just greasy and slightly burnt. My husband ordered steak pie, plenty of meat in the pie but not enough gravy to pour over the pie and chips. The side order arrived before the main meal (onion rings) again greasy. Very disappointing.

Definitely one of my favorite pubs in Edinburgh! The kitchen closes later than most pubs of the city which is clearly something great. The pub is big and comfy, the atmosphere inside is great and even when the pub was full you didn't feel that there was too many people around you. They have good selection of beers and the food was lovely, also with good variety! The customer service was excellent and they were very well organized.

The prices of the drinks vary depending on the waitress...for 4 guiness babies once it's 33 pounds and once 22 pounds...at that price I buy the kalhua and the Bailey's and I make babies for the whole neighborhood....

Steak & Ale Pie - simply delicious, scottish dish. Truly recommend🤩 Good beer, nice stuff, football games on TV - what more do you need?😉

This is the place we stopped to have something to eat and drink. We were very pleased, the food was very good. The staff was very friendly.

Classic Scottish pub with prices in line with the rest of the city of Edinburgh. Wide range of beers and spirits, some big screens active for weekend sporting events and lots of "healthy" noise. The service was a little too slow, otherwise I would have given 5***** without any problems. It will be for the next one!

Their was a party of 14 had a great meal at this lovely pub the location was spot on and the staff were excellent especially our waiter Neil who looked after table and was excellent his crack was really good

Granting that anything on Grassmarket is going to be touristy, this was a surprisingly decent pub. There was a footie match on the televisions, the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, and it wasn’t overly busy. We each had sandwiches which were quite good. One orders at the bar and the food is delivered to the table. For the two of us the total bill was about £25. Even though there are dozens of other choices within steps of the Beehive, I’d go back again.

14 of us had food which was very good and reasonably priced Neil the barman was very pleasant with great service 🍻

Was looking to have a pub meal in Edinburgh and came across the Beehive Inn. A little quaint place. The food was absolutely delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Well done.

I booked the Beehive for an annual get together with my cousins. There were 14 of us in our party and we all thoroughly enjoyed our evening (6pm to around midnight). The food was great and so was the service. We were given a semi-private area at the back of the upstairs, which worked perfectly for us. I am sorry that I didn't catch his name (might have been Neil?), but he worked upstairs and behind the bar and he went out of his way to make sure our party was well attended to. He definitely made our night. We will certainly be back!

Hugis fritters are very delicious.

Overcharged and were not served what was advertised, ordered 2 festive meals at £27.95, were 2x £34.50 plus 12.5% service charge on top, so it all came in at £67.67, it wasn’t the price that annoyed me that I didn’t notice til after I left, it was the meal didn’t have Chantaly carrots or cauliflower cheese

Disappointment. Dirty and sticky tables that are hardly cleared. Substandard food. There are many other, better things.

Came here for a quick lunch a cheese toastie and Mac and Cheese (which is on the menu aka pasta). The food took over an hour and to top it off the pub had no heating on when it was -2 outside. Also my partner has a nut allergy and I was being rushed to sign a form on a tablet that showed the menu. So the pub would not get into trouble if she was ill. This was not the vibe I was hoping for from this pub. Also it was definitely the right pub 😂

We spent Christmas Day at the Beehive Inn for lunch and it was 10/10. Our waiter David was extremely attentive and super friendly making the whole experience a true delight. The turkey lunch was spot on! Merry Christmas to you all and thanks for making ours one to remember!! 🎅🏼🎄

We are from Italy and chose Beehive Inn for Christmas lunch! The food is very good and tasty, the place is really welcoming and the staff are expert and very kind! Our waiter was David, a very good, friendly and sweet-eyed boy! Merry Christmas!

Of the pubs on the grass market this is the best. Charley and her colleague Matteo were excellent for our work event.

Myself and my colleagues were in recently for our work’s Christmas night out and the service and atmosphere was exceptional. A great mix of a restaurant and pub environment. We didn’t order any food but the selection looked amazing and I will definitely be returning soon!

I visited The Beehive inn at Grass market, Edinburgh and was very disappointed with the service. The staff were rude and dismissive and misleading information about the drinks. This led to confusion and dissatisfaction when my order arrived, as it was not what I had been led to expect. Customer service is a critical part of the experience. I hope management takes steps to improve staff training and communication. Based on this visit, I cannot recommend this establishment

We had lunch at @beehiveinn, the classics SIRLOIN STEAK sirloin steak served with triple-cooked chips, blistered vine tomatoes and onion rings. FISH & CHIPS Hand-bartered Arlantic haddock with crushed peas, chunky tartare sauce, triple-cooked chips and charred lemon. Typical Scottish pub. There is an outside area at the back of the pub. The atmosphere of the bar was undeniably appealing, with a lively ambiance and well-thought-out decor that initially set high expectations for a great evening. However, the service was absolutely disgraceful and completely ruined the experience. Despite ordering a shot, the staff did not bother to ask which mixer I preferred, a basic courtesy that one would expect in any establishment claiming to offer quality service. To make matters worse, they later charged me separately for the mixer, without any prior indication that this would be the case. This lack of transparency felt like a blatant attempt to squeeze more money from customers, which is both unprofessional and unacceptable. The staff’s indifferent attitude and failure to ensure a smooth and enjoyable service were shocking and deeply disappointing. While the atmosphere might draw people in, the poor service and underhanded tactics make this bar a place I cannot recommend. Disgraceful customer service like this is a surefire way to lose patrons. I won’t be returning.

Looked like a decent enough pub. Honestly was pretty disappointed. We were there with two teenagers, so after we bought drinks went to sit down. Were then told to move as we were 'in the main bar' where there were no kids allowed by a frosty faced manager. There were no seats in the side areas so we were then advised to sit outside (Edinburgh in December ain't that warm...). Beer was flat and the wine was warm. Oh and its pretty pricy too, gents toilets are a health hazard. Avoid!!!

Food "Steak and Pie" - I haven't met anyone for a long time who could ruin such a simple dish as fries. In addition, a piece of burnt cabbage. A pie with meat the size of a 7days croissant. It was warm - the only one that met the standard. A beer for the price of two. Additionally, you pay a "tip" automatically included in the receipt, for a dirty table like the streets of Albania. The atmosphere, nothing special. You can't even pay attention to the atmosphere of the place with such a disappointment

Called in for a pit stop light lunch on Monday and enjoyed the chicken and bacon ciabatta with a side of chips and wine - absolutely delicious. We were served by Ellie who was friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend.

The burger and wings where jucy an full of flavors best place to eat in edimburg I stay on Apex grassmarket and because of this food we eat on this restaurant each day and we are a group of 15 people all agree that the food was the best around here

Only person standing waiting at the bar. Then two guys arrive and the barman, who had seen me, served them. When I pointed out we had been waiting to be served first he just shrugged his shoulders. Ate enormously good Haggis Fritters, and quite an okay range of beers. Unfortunately we had to wait 45 minutes for the food, and then they had missed half the order so we had to wait another 45 minutes.

Got a Innis and Gunn lager with some Haggis Fritters waiting for my son's arrival. There was a table available and we sat down eating and drinking. It was casual and quite a pleasant place to hang out. The establishment wasn't too busy so there was some room for me and others. They had 3 main areas inside with 2 by the bar. They were supposed to have a beer garden (didn't check). We didn't stay past my food and beer as we headed somewhere he had wanted to go. Even so, I would recommend this if in the Greenmarket area of Edinburgh.

Stop in and see Ellie! She was our server and she was the best! I asked for recommendations and she gave her honest opinion and it turned out exactly as I’d hoped! It’s a quaint inn with great food and good drinks!

We popped in for lunch hoping for a simple and efficient pub lunch. We didn't have a reservation and sat in the walk-in section where you order at the bar. It took just over an hour from ordering for our food to come out of the kitchen. We would have just left but unfortunately it's a pre-paid system. I'm a patient guy but when my steak and ale pie and mash came out cold I was less than enamoured. That said there is an excellent beer selection and it's a nice traditional looking place with friendly bar staff.

First visit on a busy Thursday afternoon, due to football game. Sat outside, great to people watch, football supporters njoy the area. Friendly staff, luvly pub inside, Has a beer garden and an upstairs whisky room, worth a visit :)

Had the vintage Mac & Cheese tonight and it was sooo good! So creamy, tasty and perfect for the cold weather! I then ordered the pear frangipane which was delightful and the perfect end to this dinner! The waitress, Brogan, was amazing, very attentive and kind! The atmosphere was warm and lively, I really had a lovely time! I hope to return before leaving or in the future!
