Options Bistro in Edinburgh, City of

Tenía ganas de probar este restaurante después de que el hotel cambió de manos, habiendo sido un visitante habitual anteriormente durante muchos años. Sí, decepcionado es la palabra, la comida estaba bien, aumento de precio significativo y las porciones de comida no eran tan buenas, la elección del menú también muy limitado, en comparación con los propietarios anteriores. No creo que vaya a volver, el personal, como siempre fue brillante, servicial y trabajador, pero las caras conocidas comienzan a desaparecer. Tienen una audiencia capturada con los huéspedes del hotel, aunque si estuviera allí, saltaría en coche y me dirigiría al este de Musselburgh, o al norte de Portobello, tal vez incluso en la ciudad (oeste). Los huéspedes también podrían tomar el autobús ya sea al oeste o al este, el tiempo de viaje en cualquier lugar de 5 minutos a 20 minutos dependiendo del viaje, pero tendrá mucha más opción, mejores restaurantes y mejores precios, solo mi opinión, pero también mi recomendación.

A pesar de mi preferencia general para no comer en el hotel donde me alojo, mi esposa y yo comimos aquí varias noches mientras estaba de turismo en Edimburgo. Era tan conveniente, y la comida era generalmente muy buena. El servicio fue un poco frustrante, pero nos pareció que un poco de un rasgo común en restaurantes de toda Escocia. Ninguna de las varias comidas que tuvimos fue decepcionante, los precios eran justos y a pesar de un poco de servicio lento, estábamos bastante contentos y un poco sorprendidos por esta ventaja añadida a una gran estancia en el BWKM. Llevamos años yendo mensualmente pero desde que el restaurante ha cambiado de manos el menú del almuerzo se ha reducido drásticamente. La comida sigue siendo agradable, pero no suficientes opciones. Si vas mensualmente se volverá aburrido. Definitivamente, los precios no se han reducido.

We visited Bistro bar at Kings Manor Hotel for lunch . We ordered Chef’s Special. Chicken breast with mushrooms puree, roasted asparagus, cherry tomatoes and crispy sliced roasted potatoes with thyme. Delicious, flavoured pleasantly with herbs , salt, pepper and spices. Scrumptious. We can highly recommend this tasty dish. Bravo Chef

We were staying in the Best Western where this restaurant is and were told at reception this had to be booked, however, when we called down from our room, no one answered on numerous occasions. So we went direct and asked for a table for two and despite there being around 10 people in the entire restaurant, they could not let us have a table for 20 minutes. We agreed to go to the bar( just the other side from the restaurant), ordered 2 drinks while we waited and when we asked whether we could put it on a tab for the room as we were going to be eating, we were told no. We then had to go back to the restaurant after the 20mins as no one had been to seat us only to find they were totally confused about the reservation! That sorted, the menu was good with lots of choice but it is the service that lets this place down very badly as others have noted. Six members of staff were present but the organisation was lacking and everyone was having to wait a long time for everything. A pity as the food itself was really tasty.

Despite my general preference to eat at hotel where I'm staying, my wife and I ate here several nights while sightseeing in Edinburgh. It was so convenient, and the food was generally very good. Service was a bit frustrating, but we did find that a bit of a coomon trait at restaurants throughout Scotland. None of the several meals we had was disappointing, prices were fair and despite some slow service, we were quite pleased and a bit surprised by this added perk to a great stay at the BWKM.

I sometimes pop in here for coffee or a spot of lunch with friends after doing a fitness class. The food is average to ok. My main thought is that the staff are very inexperienced in hospitality, slow and can’t cope with simple requests, plus they seem to change on a regular basis, weekly it seems. Such a shame as it could be good, they don’t seem to be interested in return customers.

Great afternoon one of many at Kings manor .with grandkids and daughter .had a beautiful lunch. Seabass. Great. .. staff. Very friendly and nothing to much trouble very reasonable price for food and drink .

We visited as a family of 4 one weekday evening. From the get go Covid protocols were followed to the letter, plenty of hand sanitizer, facemasks worn and social distancing all in place. We filled out our track and trace form with names, phone numbers and start/end times. We were seated and everything felt very spacious, tables were well spaced out with unobtrusive screens which just looked like part of the decor. Our quick and attentive servers took our drinks and food order and even though slightly busy, our orders came out in good time. We had Halloumi with Avocado and homemade tomato chutney for starters which we all really enjoyed. For our mains our party had the Fish & Chips, Burger and Macaroni Cheese. All meals were of excellent quality and very very tasty. Some of us finished with dessert including Sticky Toffee Pudding, Banoffee Sundae and Watermelon and Pineapple Sundae. All beautifully presented and a delicious end to a superb evening. Thank you to all at Options Bistro for the first "normal" evening we have had as a family in a very long time! Will definitely return.

We used this twice on our recent stay at the hotel and found the food was good,with an interesting selection. Prices were reasonable but service as a tad on the slow side especially given the place was not busy. Staff were friendly and efficient.

Fui con familiares / amigos para el almuerzo del domingo. No estaba ocupado. 2 de nuestro grupo pidieron abadejos y patatas fritas que venían con una pequeña guarnición de ensalada de col y cometo el error de pedir la lasaña con pan de ajo. Tanto el pescado y las patatas fritas fueron disfrutados, pero la lasaña estaba seca y no vale la pena el dinero, muy decepcionante, ya que se recomienda. El principal estaba acompañado de una pequeña guarnición de ensalada igual que el pescado. No nos quedamos para el postre ya que son caros y si la lasaña no es tan buena no nos arriesgaríamos a un dulce después y decidimos tomar un café en casa. El personal se apresuró a tomar pedidos y traerlos, sin quejas, solo con la comida.

Ate in the Bistro while staying at the hotel. Nice relaxed atmosphere, good size portions with a varied menu. Staff attentive but not to the point of annoying.

Comimos aquí ya que estábamos alojados en el hotel. Mis hijas adolescentes tenían el Mac y el queso y realmente lo disfruté. Teníamos el curry de garbanzos Dahl - delicioso! Las raciones eran buenas y el precio era justo, volveremos a comer aquí la próxima vez que nos alojemos.

5 de nosotros tuvimos una comida el domingo por la noche. 3 de nosotros tuvimos pescado y patatas fritas, que era muy agradable y una gran porción. Otro tenía Mac y queso y otro tenía el especial que era una cazuela de carne. Todos disfrutamos nuestras comidas. El servicio era bueno y el personal muy agradable. Recomendaría .

Stayed in the hotel and ate in the bar twice and both occasions it was very nice food hot and very tasty

Solía ​​ser un habitual aquí cuando mi difunta esposa y yo vivíamos cerca. Era lo más lejos que podía caminar y el personal no podía haberla tratado mejor. Straightforward menu. Good variety. Efficient welcoming service. Friendly staff. Good prices too. Would dine here again.

No íbamos a salir de copas en el bar y nos dijeron que los menores de 18 años fueron permitidos - un poco sorprendente a las 5 de la tarde del viernes en un hotel! ! Así que nos trasladamos a través del bistró.Las bebidas y la comida estaba bien. No hay refrescos en el proyecto debido a la escasez o C2. . .Los precios son un poco caros.

Fuimos a comer y para cambiar el servicio fue bastante rápido.

Went here on a Tuesday at 7.15 pm for dinner the food was average nothing special the service was poor we ordered wine which was just put on the table waiter didnt even open the bottle for us or pour the wine again when we ordered another bottle same thing .there was 5 of us and all 5 left disappointed dont think i would come back until the service is better at over £100 it was very poor.

Comimos en el restaurante durante la estancia en el hotel. Nos reunimos con la familia que vive bastante cerca. El menú tenía gran variedad y el servicio era muy bueno. Nuestro camarero (Noel) realmente nos cuidó y se aseguró de que tuviéramos todo lo que necesitábamos. Él es sin duda una ventaja para el hotel. La comida era genial y nos quedamos muy contentos con el servicio. Recomendamos este Bistro a nuestros amigos y familia.

We dined here on two occasions, the food is about average, however, at busy times the service tends to be a bit slow.

El Bistro era un lugar agradable con un personal educado y amable. Comimos allí y fue Grub estilo pub con patatas fritas congeladas, aros de cebolla y patatas grandes, etc. Tuve el chili con carne, y aunque era una buena porción con arroz y nachos era insípida y sin sabor. Yo me cansé de y no terminar. Uno de nuestro grupo dijo que la comida estaba muy bien hace unos años, así que estaba un poquito decepcionado y todo el mundo dijo que su comida era simplemente 'Aceptar'. Quizás yo estaba mala suerte con mi elección de comida. Casi en relación a lo que obtienes.

Ate here on a Saturday early evening, booked in advance as advised it gets busy. Helpful staff, small but adequate menu with something for everyone.

We visited tonight for some dinner. Both our starters were served cold in the middle despite a forty minute wait. Both mains came with the most basic of oven chips that clearly came out the freezer and were partly cooked. The side salad was a...

We visited for lunch today. It took over 30 minutes for two very basic main courses. They were both extremely bland and lacked any sort of flavour. Extrememely disappointing, especially as it was not that busy.

My wife ordered a brie and redcurrant sandwich, my son and daughter a cheese pizza, my other son lasagne and I ordered lasagne too. The sandwich was literally just a sandwich, my wife was execting it to be maybe heated or something but no, it...

We ate here as we were staying in the hotel however saying we 'ate' there is misleading. We ordered food here-but none of it was eaten. This is a bistro attached to the hotel so we assumed it would be of a good standard, To start with the bistro was so hot it was uncomfortable-this was in Feb so it was cold outside so obviously they had heating on to make it like a sauna! Secondly ordering was useless-the staff were so very slow at service-instead they chatted to each other at the bar :( . Finally when we did get service the staff spoke poor English so it was difficult. We waited a long time for the food and it was RUBBISH. The children ordered pizza and they received half a frozen pizza-hardly Bistro food!!! My sandwich was on stale hard bread and my salad contained nothing but brown horrid leaves-disgusting-DO NOT go here-terrible food terrible experience and I had to pay for that privilege!

We visited for a team lunch and had a lovely time.We all thoroughly enjoyed what we had.The food can be quite slow though, so I went ahead of everyone by ten minutes to order and this really helped!

When you order a sandwich the least you expect is bread that is not dry and hard in places. It was so horrible and stale that I could not eat it. The cappuccino was largely froth and less than a half cup of coffee. All in all a very disappointing experience.

Sold out of popular dishes - even early evening. Waiting staff don't speak good enough English to understand what you want to order. Plenty of better places to spend your money

This restaurant is convenient as it is located in the hotel. Menu options were great for all types of eaters. Selection was terrific with a special board each night. The service, especially Amy, was prompt & friendly & very attentive.

Nach einer mehrstündigen Fahrt wollten wir abends nicht erst das Best Western Hotel Kings Manor zum Abendessen verlassen. Da das Restaurant "Launders" mit Busgästen ausgebucht war, entschieden wir uns für das "Options Bistro". Viele Tische waren um 20.00 Uhr noch frei, doch uns wurde verdeutlicht, dass alle Tische reserviert seien und wir in 45 Minuten wieder kommen könnten. Keines unserer Argumente konnte den Mitarbeiter überzeugen, uns einen Tisch für 2 Personen zu geben. So warteten wir in der danebengelegenen Bar.Als nach 35 Minuten noch immer viele Tische im "Option Bistro" leer waren, gingen wir wieder hinein und fragten, was das solle. Uns wurde gesagt, dass soeben einige Gäste gegangen seien und wir nun einen Tisch bekämen. Eine unmögliche Verhaltensweise des Oberkellners. Er hatte nicht bemerkt, dass wir in der Bar nebenan gewartet hatten.Der KMH-Burger war nichts Außergewöhnliches, der Steak-Onion-Pie eine Enttäuschung: eigentlich sollte sich das Steak-Onion-Gemisch im Pie befinden, lag jedoch auf dem Kartoffelpürree, die trockene Pastete daneben. Am nächsten Tag wählten wir ein nahegelegenes Restaurant in Portobello.

I've never been impressed when visiting here, but went last week as it was convenient for the people I was meeting. The service was slow and lacked attention to detail. I've my Diet Coke was ordered with no ice or fruit but came stuffed with both. I decided not to stay for food.

I opted to eat here on one business occasion rather than use the hotel restaurant.Waitress was friendly.Food was ok but lacking in seasoning.The wine bottle was brought to the table unchilled, and the room was far too warm.Not an expensive restaurant, and certainly fits the profile. Comfortable enough, but nothing special

My twin sister & I revisited the Bistro at The Kings Manor Hotel for a birthday celebratory lunch with our elderly disabled father. We were even given a choice of window tables, as requested on booking. My requests to modify a standard dish to accommodate our father's eating difficulties was met without any issues. However, I was very disappointed that my sister, a vegetarian of 50+ years, was incorrectly brought, by a different server, a tuna-stuffed baked potato; which put her off her meal when it was rectified. Our waitress was friendly & helpful but our father was disappointed that no recognition of our joint birthdays was made - simply done by many restaurants, by sticking a candle or sparkler in a dessert or ice-cream - especially as he'd chosen a birthday balloon. These are the small gestures that encourage future patronage on special occasions.

A 70th Birthday meal for family with great service and a very economic menu when there are larger numbers for a celebration like this.

Reviewed under the hotel name as now called Lauders. Tasty food at moderate prices . Not flexible with their menu though if you want a slight alteration

Visited for a midweek lunch with my friend. Service at the bar was very slow - was ignored for several minutes although I was the only customer there.When we did eventuaLly get ordered, our food came quickly + was nice.

I had lunch here today whilst visiting the spa. Staff were friendly and food was good. I had a fruit scone and it only had one sultana in it but apart from that everything was nice. Good price.

Had two evening meals here whilst staying in hotel. Freshly prepared food, good service and the haddock pieces are BIG. Good value.

Visited yesterday for lunch. Had the carrot soup, which was quite peculiar. Was pretty lumpy and flavourless. Wish they did 2 or 3 soups well that were always available as the soup of the day can be really hit or miss!

We had a lovely meal at the Bistro whilst staying at the hotel attached. Fish was amazing . Lunch was lovely too. Had a fresh homemade scone and tea. Very nice. Reasonably priced. We will come back.
