We had 2 dinners Here, and Both were amazing! The Service Staff were very Professional and friendly. Our waitress was very Kind and Even Made a List of places for us to visit, since it was our First time in the city. The Atmosphere was very cozy yet chic. The Food and Cocktails were delicious. The also have an amazing selection of Desserts. I would definately come here again. The Spence is a Must visit for anyone coming to visit the City.

I had a very disappointing experience at The Voodoo Room. I saw people openly using cocaine in the restrooms, which was completely unacceptable. In the concert room, many were excessively drunk, and when I tried to pass through, some reacted aggressively rather than making space. The overall atmosphere felt unsafe and poorly managed. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Was recommended to try this place out as it was disable friendly ( in other words I could get in ! ) Atmospher was lovely, went at lunch time on the 11th March. I confess it was the choice of puddings that attracted me in the firstplace, but sadly the macaroni cheese was so good and a generous portion I could cope with any more. So I returned in the evening, determined not to be beaten ! I had a small portion of the Cullen Skink soup, it was wonderful. I was very aware of the puddings calling me from the menus. So I ordered the Bread and Butter Pudding. It was a tough choice, and it arrived in all its splendor. I admit I had to leave a bit of it but nearly finished for the it for the challenge. Let’s just say I didn’t roll out of that place in my wheelchair I waddled out. Good atmosphere, good banter and good service through out the day. No hesitation in 5 star revue. I will return and I will start with the puddings first !

Had a voucher for 2x 2 course lunch but will never buy one for anyone in the future. Staff were very attentive and beautiful room but 1. Staff took us into brunch room initially rather than lunch area 2. Starter of chicken liver parfait was on inedible bread, hard to even cut through . 3. Main of breaded haddock was very bland and both of us left half our dishes. 4. Had 2 lattes (without a sniff of a biscuit) The bill for these was £14.95 - £4.95 for service which was fine but made me wonder if we would have been billed for service if we had not added coffees?

Great pub! If you want to visit here in the evening be early, we tried to go 3 times and it was so full! But it is definitely worth it. Great food and good beers. We tried the Balmoral chicken and it tasted so good! The customer service was great and the pub is very cozy!

Lunch with 3 work colleagues. Service was slow and place was virtually empty. March 25% off food and drink. 3 main meals were OK but my main of fish and chips was dreadful. Batter was brick hard and finding the half fish fillet inside was a challenge. Fish was dry and over-cooked and batter felt like it had been double fried. Very very disappointing at £19.50 We all had dessert which was ok. Had to reiterate my complaint to waitress twice before anything was done to compensate for the fish disaster. Only when I said I won't be back again did she offer to reduce the fish bill. Shocking attitude given the choice of places to eat in Edinburgh. You'd think they would want to keep you coming back for more !!!!!

Excellent food, fun atmosphere. My husband and I got 1 main and 2 small plates to share. We got the haggis fritters, the crispy smashed potatoes, and the steak and ale pie. We loved the haggis fritters and the steak and ale pie. The crispy potatoes were fine, but nothing to write home about. Definitely worth a visit!

Drinks were okay, food is significantly underwhelming, website displaying food is not accurate. They advertise 50% off cocktails and pairings all day and every day, but they over price drinks so that it offsets their price. Ya I got suckered by all the signs of discounted drinks and low priced food. But literally got less then what I paid for in food, and realized the scheme on drinks upon entry. I think McDonald's is making an equivalent burger, but for cheaper. Also as the locals would say, their internet is rubbish. Signed: A Hungry Canadian.

Been using the Old Colliery for quite a while now. 3 of us regularly. Myself on occasions. Food is always good. Reasonably priced. Staff always friendly. Great to see it is children and pet friendly. There's a play area for the kids. Décor is varied with old photos, painting and old artifacts. Watch out for Andrea, always smiling and joking and showing of her fancy nails.
