We ended up here one night as my son picked the location this time. He just wanted something to drink and a quick meal. Like most pubs, order at the bar and pay at the same time. They even did a solid for allowing us a second Sticky Finger even though the kitchen was closed. Very friendly staff and enjoyed reading the wall stories. We had a couple drinks each (Stewart’s 80 [cask] and Henry Weston Cider). For snacks, I just got Loaded Chunky Chips. He got Sticky Chicken [got this twice as it stayed a while] and Classic Cheese & Bacon Burger. Everything was delicious and filling. Was a nice way to end the day / night. Just be aware they have hangman nooses for decorations as it is part of the atmosphere. I know this maybe a trigger for some people, but remember this is Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and this reflects the history of this location.

This is one of several haunted pubs in Edinburgh so be on the lookout for a little girl who may actually be the poltergeist! Even if you're not a fan of ghosts it's a cool pub to visit if you happen to be in the Grassmarket area. Continuing ticking the Scottish food list, we headed to The Last Drop for Smoked Salmon and Oatcakes, and Cranachan. It's a small and busy touristy pub. We ordered at the bar and the food came swiftly. Smoked Salmon and Oatcakes were ok. The Cranachan was something we weren't sure about. It was simply spoonfuls and mouthfuls of pure whipped cream. Not much flavour or texture to it; not from the raspberry, the honey, the toasted oat, or the dash of whisky. It left us having this greasy aftertaste. After all, the pub has its own charm and atmosphere. Good place to have a pint or two and some food, but not the dessert!

Fantastic service but the atmosphere and the food really let it down. Still haven't seen a good Scottish pub sadly and this is the same as the others. If you have a tourist location and jack the prices up, show us some Scottish flavour and music atleast. Also with a small menu the food is normally fantastic, burger burnt and I literally could have made better at home sadly. Where the last drop does well is the service. Young fella served us very very well and was awesome for knowledge. I was served a cracked glass and soon as I mentioned he was on a mission, so very Thankful for that.

My sister and I ran into this pub to use the toilet, she used it first, but as I have toilet issues (IBS), i asked my sister to please hurry as I was going to soil myself. In the urgency she opened the door to the singular cubicle the pub has to offer and let me in to do my business as she fixed her tights and long embellished skirt as I finished up. Once we left we wanted a soft drink but the barman refused to serve us on account of us both being in the same cubicle at one time. I understand why he said this- drug use at the moment is absolutely rife, I work in a small town bar myself so I know. But suffering with what I do, and after being embarrassed like that in front of an intimate pub setting, plus my knowledge of bar staffs ideas being unshaken even in the face of customers reasoning, I didn’t even bother to dispute. I just left embarrassed. I do think writing this would hopefully help someone else in my situation. Nobody should soil themselves waiting for their family member to finish using the solitary toilet on offer- out of fear of not being served at the bar. Was disappointing to be honest, as the last time I was here the pub reeked of urine, but I gave it a second chance this time, and I was proved wrong as a result. I hope the bar staff see this and realise that their unwelcoming attitude should be given with factual knowledge rather than just their own notions
