Historic pub near the castle. We had food and were asked about allergies as soon as we sat down which was really helpful and made me feel less awkward about having to ask about the menu. The food was hot, really tasty and a good sized portion. The pub is not huge and gets busy so may have to be a little patient to get a seat.

I had a wonderful experience at the restaurant. The waitstaff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making the atmosphere even more enjoyable. The food was delicious, and the location is fantastic, adding to the overall charm of the place.

Scottish food in a privileged location in Edinburgh's Old Town. Cozy and quiet on GrossMarket Square. They do not serve you at the table but you must go to the bar, order, confirm and pay. They serve you tap water, which is excellent in the city, if you don't want alcohol. Quick to serve. Kind. Acceptable prices. Delicious food.

We had an incredible dining experience at The Last Drop! From the moment we walked in, the service was impeccable, thanks to our fabulous waitress, Lily, who was attentive, friendly, and made our visit extra special. Our son loved his perfectly cooked hamburger, and we were blown away by the sticky chicken with sweet chili sauce—it was bursting with flavor! My husband enjoyed the Balmoral chicken, which featured roasted chicken breast and haggis wrapped in smoked back bacon with a whisky sauce. It was paired beautifully with buttery mash, long-stem broccoli, and carrots. For dessert, we stepped out of our comfort zone and tried the Cranachan. It was a delightful and unique treat—when in Scotland, you’ve got to embrace the local flavors! We highly recommend The Last Drop for its amazing food, warm service, and authentic Scottish vibe. We’ll definitely be back!

Tourist pub but at the same time characteristic. It's absolutely worth it

This place has got all the history you’d expect but none of that touristy vibe. The food was fresh, and packed with flavour, and the service was excellent, making us feel welcome and well cared for.

The traditional meals at this restaurant are good, especially the chicken with haggis and mash. The Burger was good, but not exceptional. Despite everything. It's a place that I would recommend in a very pleasant place in a really, adorable neighborhood, watch out for the tables sitting near the men's toilets, the smell is really very strong.

Nice pub with a good cuisine (Haggis, garlic chicken schnitzel ..). Service is also good. The only thing that made me remove 2 stars is that it's not clean at all (floor...), especially the toilets are awfull. In gents toilets, the smell of pee was tough... told the waiter about it and he said something like "yes we know..."

A very peculiar pub with very cool decoration.

Just popped in for a couple of drinks. The place has good decorations and located in the historic area.

Overall, a very good establishment, with enough space inside for you to sit comfortably. We drank a glass of beer and whiskey - not bad. We wanted live music, but we didn’t get it, I don’t know if it’s suitable for them or not, but I read that it is. People of completely different ages in the pub - everything passed in a friendly atmosphere.

Tamara was the best. Served us on Christmas Day awesome food. Nice warm pub. Haggis on menu must try!

Tried haggis for the first time here. It was nice: despite it being made of lamb I didn’t feel that it had a strong flavour. In fact the flavour of the oats was more evident. The vibes here are nice, and the staff are very kind. A bit expensive for the portions though.

I had a lovely meal with my family, I will say if you order the pesto and cheese gnocchi, be prepared for just cheese. They have a interesting history, mainly why we picked it

Decided to went in because of the look of outside. Amazing vibe on the inside! Good beer, good food, and good vibes. That’s all the reasons you need to have a pleasant afternoon and happy stomach and guess what? they have it all.

Very cool pub! Generally full and difficult to find a seat. I expected it to catch tourists but it's really cool. Good atmosphere and good drinks.

Max è stato gentilissimo, ci ha aiutato sia nella scelta del cibo che nella scelta delle birre. Devo dire che è difficile trovare aggettivi che rendano l'idea. The pub itself isn't bad, but when I was there there was a terrible smell of piss at the entrance. Very commercial and generic pub.

Echt een leuke pub. Wij waren er rond de lunch. Niet te gecompliceerd maar gewoon goed en lekker. Aan het het eind van de middag wordt het enorm druk en kom je bijna niet binnen.

We stumbled on this place on our first night in Edinburgh, and we are so happy we did! We did not have reservations anywhere and it was crazy busy in the city. My partner got the chicken burger and I got a chicken dish with haggis and mashed potatoes. We are both from Canada and this was the first time we had Haggis and we both enjoyed it. Our meals were exactly what we were wanting and exceeded our expectations. Servers were friendly and attentive and our food came out quickly. We left STUFFED and content to take a stroll around the castle. Thank you!!

Excellent pub, typical atmosphere, excellent beer and whiskey, excellent cuisine and a truly special welcome... It may be the last straw, but if it's the last, it's a good thing in this place! Well done!!!

We popped in to the last drop for a few drinks on our last day the lady behind the bar was very loud rude and abrupt with staff and customers. It was that hard to listen to her we have to leave after only taking one sip of our drink. We will not be returning in the near future. Not a friendly atmosphere at all from female staff.

We came across this pub on the internet, on a short visit to Edimburgh, it was supposed to be a good place. I’m afraid we agree to desagree. As we got in, and asked if there was room for 2 for dinner, we were suggested (after 5 minutes) to wait for a free spot but not in the dining area, which was perfectly fine, and we managed to sit after 5 more minutes. That’s when the last drop dropped, as we waited more than 15 minutes just to get a menu which we had to ask, and it was dropped at us as if we were bothering or something. Then, we had to wait about 25 minutes more, and during that time more people got in, were seated and menu was regularly served. Waiters spent quite a lot of time just chatting right in front of us and still did nothing. We got tired and just left, after more than 30 minutes of nothing mixed to disrespect. We’ve now came across the bad reviews, and we see many people experienced the same, particularly tourists. It is not our intention to mean this pub, those who work there, therefore the owner, use to treat tourists like that on a regular basis, but it really felt like so. Can’t say anything about food, because we did not have the chance to even order it. We usually don’t leave any bad reviews, but we’ve always felt comfortable everywhere in Edimburgh and Scotland, so this episode deserves one. Will be back again, but not here.

Cute cosy pub. Loads of history, and they say haunted! We just had drinks. A good selection of gins and great knowledge of all the whisky. The pub was quiet, but good service.

Honest Scottish atmosphere. The beer was ice cold and delicious. I chose a Scottish lager 🍺. Lunch was also very tasty and the price was absolutely right. The atmosphere in the restaurant was unique. Highly recommended!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting a long-established pub in Edinburgh, recommended by a local friend, and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere was exactly what you’d expect from a classic pub with years of character. I tried the Stuart 80p beer, and it was an absolute delight—smooth, creamy, and incredibly well-balanced. It’s the kind of beer you could easily sip on all evening. A great spot to relax, enjoy a pint, and soak up the pub’s charm. I’ll definitely be back for more!

A cozy pub with great and friendly staff, in our case we were served by Max who was charming and very patiently recommended various options for our first experience in Edinburgh.

We ate typical Scottish food that the waiter recommended and it was pretty good. Spectacular beers. And they lit a candle for us to sing happy birthday to our mother for her 80th birthday.

Max is a winner. Along with the whisky and food selection.

I learned the history behind the pub on a walking tour and had to try it out. The food was great - I got the Cullen Skink, haggis, and the sticky chicken (as well as 2 half pints of cask ale) and enjoyed them all. The best part was the service though, Max was so nice, attentive and made great recommendations:) Definitely recommend.

The Last Drop was incredible. Good food, mulled wine, historic location. And Laura was lovely and so helpful.

I only had one beer so I can't rate the food.

Tamara was out waitress and she did a phenomenal job. Our Balmoral chicken was delicious and we will definitely be back next time we're in town!

Ordered a pint and a double jamesons whiskey. Was given the card machine upside down, no mention of any cost. Later found out it cost £15.95 Rather expensive i think? Won’t be rushing back.

Food was rather mediocre. My cullen skink was disappointing as there was only potato and hardly any haddock in it. So bad compared to other Scottish pub i've tried in Edinburgh.

We ended up here one night as my son picked the location this time. He just wanted something to drink and a quick meal. Like most pubs, order at the bar and pay at the same time. They even did a solid for allowing us a second Sticky Finger even though the kitchen was closed. Very friendly staff and enjoyed reading the wall stories. We had a couple drinks each (Stewart’s 80 [cask] and Henry Weston Cider). For snacks, I just got Loaded Chunky Chips. He got Sticky Chicken [got this twice as it stayed a while] and Classic Cheese & Bacon Burger. Everything was delicious and filling. Was a nice way to end the day / night. Just be aware they have hangman nooses for decorations as it is part of the atmosphere. I know this maybe a trigger for some people, but remember this is Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and this reflects the history of this location.

They service and food were fantastic, unfortunately it is always too busy, we had to wait almost 1 hour a table, but its something out of control, because the space is small and very popular

Love that the server ask about allergies and they find alternatives for me so I can enjoy some of the classic Scottish dishes too. Way too many people, but it's to be expected on Grassmarket.

This is one of several haunted pubs in Edinburgh so be on the lookout for a little girl who may actually be the poltergeist! Even if you're not a fan of ghosts it's a cool pub to visit if you happen to be in the Grassmarket area. My wife and I stopped in for some drinks in-between activities and found it a nice, atmospheric place to wet our whistles.

Loved reading the history and origins, however bar tenders were too poshy and drinks were not well made. Vibe just seemed a bit stuffy.
