Lunch with 3 work colleagues. Service was slow and place was virtually empty. March 25% off food and drink. 3 main meals were OK but my main of fish and chips was dreadful. Batter was brick hard and finding the half fish fillet inside was a challenge. Fish was dry and over-cooked and batter felt like it had been double fried. Very very disappointing at £19.50 We all had dessert which was ok. Had to reiterate my complaint to waitress twice before anything was done to compensate for the fish disaster. Only when I said I won't be back again did she offer to reduce the fish bill. Shocking attitude given the choice of places to eat in Edinburgh. You'd think they would want to keep you coming back for more !!!!!

Went for food and some drinks in the early evening. Waitress serving us was rude, dismissive and had an attitude problem the whole time. Wouldn't return.

If you don't know about Indigo Yard, then you should. Down a back street off the western end of Princess street you'll be hard pressed to find it, but it's worth the effort. From the firepit tables as you walk in to the well stocked bar and the separate eating area, it's all well thought out. The atmosphere is busy, but not loud. The service is impeccable and friendly and the food is fresh and well cooked. From the garlic ciabatta and beetroot hummus to the burgers. We even had live music. We will definitely be returning.

Lots of drink choices, nice atmosphere and love the divisions inside. Been here for a goodbye party of a colleague and truly enjoyed it. Even security seems more on top of everything than elsewhere, and still being nice and polite.

Ate fish and chips. Service good and polite. Nicely decorated inside with outdoor seating for the warmer weather. Foods okay chips massive and were quite hard. Came with rocket beside not peas. We had the 50 percent off as definitely not worth 19.50 full price.

Enjoying a nice lunch with many friends, soup was delicious,then main course was served. Simple dish of steak frites! Steak was cold! Not luke warm but cold! I asked waitress if it could be heated up. Waitress took away and returned 1 minute later and yes, steak was still cold. I ate my now tepid chips ( very small portion ) and stayed quiet for rest of meal. I won't be back. I suspect if you get 50% off the price then expect 50% quality.

Popped in for breakfast. Place wasn’t too busy and got seated quickly. Bottle of water provided and coffee order taken. Breakfast order placed quite quickly. Then we sat and waited. After about 20mins we asked where the coffee was and told it was queued up at the coffee bar. About another 20mins passed and breakfast arrived but no coffee. Asked if we wanted anything else we said, coffee? After a few minutes into breakfast coffee arrived. What can I say about breakfast! For nearly £17 it’s a shocker! Overcooked bacon, undercooked toast, overcooked egg, a portion of baked beans that wouldn’t feed a malnourished sparrow, soggy mushrooms - think they were out of a tin! Worst breakfast ever! The staff were really nice but I think putting a 12.5% service charge on the bill for such a terrible meal is just a disgrace! Won’t be eating here again until something changes.

Extensive menu, something for everyone. We eat here every couple of months, food is tasty, good portion sizes, friendly staff. Dogs always welcome.

2 stars for the lovely staff. So disappointed in the food it's poor quality pub grub. Meat is cheapest of cheap and my friend's medium to well done steak was running with blood....no proper chef would send that out. waste of time and money

Located on a quiet side street, this is a favorite destination for one of our associates. With a unique menu and incredible character to the building, I recommend stopping here for a bite and a pint.

We had Another visit to Indigo Yard to take up their 50% off all food for January offer. We started with Roast Pepper & Tomato soup along with Focaccia bread. This was followed by Sirloin Steaks with all the trimmings and then Chocolate Torte and ice cream. The soup & focaccia were great, very tasty and roasting hot which is what we like. The steaks etc all good too although the peppercorn sauce could be a bit thicker and have more pepper corns in it. The torte, tasty as usual ! Only complaint would be the time it took to be served. There was only one poor waitress serving all the tables and we waited at least 15 minutes just to be asked if we wanted a drink. It’s good food and a nice place, you just need to be patient.

Was at Indigo Yard for dinner with a few colleagues few weeks ago. Great food honestly, real good attention to detail and great service and atmosphere too. I had some goats cheese crostini, black cod for mains and a nojito. Everything was tip top!

Great place, terrific food, even better at 50% off in January! The beetroot humous with flat bread was good. The Mushroom Risotto was absolutely terrific. Will be back for just that! Go before 31 Jan!

A secret little restaurant and bar hidden away down a side street. They offer all manner of drinks and a slightly different menu to the norm. The cottage pie with ox cheek is delicious.

We arrived for our booking into a very busy place. We were shown to our table in the outside area which was covered with canopies, however did not totally prevent us getting wet! It was mortal chaos and after 15 minutes one of our group went inside to enquire about service to be told they are on way. The waitress asked us what we wanted to drink and grabbed a menu from adjacent table to assist us choose. When drinks came out we got asked for our food order, no one had given us menus, thankfully we had seen online! The starters came out without any cutlery, however this was remedied by waitress. When the mains came out, again without cutlery we waited a good few minutes so one of us went inside to ask, after a few more minutes the waitress delivered, meanwhile our food was getting cold! We asked for more drinks and waitress disappeared, we managed to ask other waitress as she passed. After eating we waited and waited to ask for bill (no offers of desserts). After about 15 minutes (we could have left without being noticed) one of us went inside to ask for bill. They had cheek to add 20% service charge!!! After debate they removed that, the waitress then came to table for payment. As said earlier the place was chaos due to amount of people, about 10 people standing around table for 4 next to us while we’re trying to eat, people vaping and smoking next to us while eating. No particular blame to the waiting staff, they were trying in an impossible situation, there was far too many people, a safety concern??

Waitress was so so lovely. Never got her name but the day we visited was 21/12/24 around 22:00 onwards. She was young enough and had brown hair in a pony tail, hoop earrings. Every single time we spoke to her she had such a good energy and a huge smile every time we spoke to her. ( give her a raise😂 )

Reservar era fácil y sencillo y a la llegada el lugar estaba muy ocupado, siempre una buena señal, aunque esto era el viernes antes del gran día. El personal excelente t, educado, amable, servicial y muy atento, teniendo en cuenta lo ocupado que estaba continuaron registrándonos, la razón de solo 3 de cada 5 era la comida, reservamos la cena festiva, que era £ 39 por persona. La comida era sabrosa, pero muy poca, Oliver Twist definitivamente pediría más, el menú hacía que cada plato sonara fantástico y aunque, sin duda, lo que anunciaban que tenías, era muy frugal. Tenían una buena oferta en cócteles, para el período festivo solo compre una pulsera de £ 5 y seleccione de una lista limitada de cócteles por £ 5 cada uno. ¿Volvería - tal vez pero no para el menú de Navidad, ya que no parecía una buena relación calidad-precio. Resumen: Lugar muy bien distribuido, buena decoración y animado. Personal muy bueno, atento y amable. Comida, bueno no tan buena.

Found this place by chance and absolutely love it. I didn’t catch the name of our waitress but she was really lovely and very attentive. Great atmosphere! Delicious food and the cocktails were lovely.

Not bad for busy christmas service season. Great selection of cocktails and they provide a printed list of pre ordered meals which is v helpful 😊.

Hasta que asistí al almuerzo de Navidad el 30 / 11 / 24 me impresionó mucho la forma en que se manejó la reserva, todas las comunicaciones muy profesionales y oportunas. Lamentablemente el día del almuerzo de Navidad fue muy muy diferente. Habíamos reservado el almuerzo para 10 personas , algunas de las cuales tenían intolerancia al gluten así que lo dejamos claro en el momento de la reserva Nuestra reserva fue 1400 - 1600 para el almuerzo, con un seguimiento de la reserva para bebidas de 1600 - 1900 Nota importante: El frente del personal de la casa que cuidó de nosotros estuvo brillante durante todo el día - y no tenemos nada más que elogios para ellos y cómo lograron "mantenerse juntos" teniendo en cuenta lo que entonces sucedió... Llegamos a las 13: 30 y fueron mostrados rápidamente a nuestra mesa. No recibimos nuestros entrantes hasta después del 15 : 00 - y cuando llegaron se equivocaron, tenían frío y llegaron a diferentes horas - por lo que no todos comieron juntos Hubo otro retraso más con los platos principales -llegaron finalmente alrededor de las 16 : 30 - y una vez más fueron los pedidos equivocados , las comidas estaban frías y llegaban en diferentes momentos - por lo que de nuevo no comimos todos juntos. * En este punto nos dieron una bebida gratis * Finalmente, sobre los postres que no recibimos hasta después del 17 : 30 y fue el mismo fiasco de nuevo - con los postres equivocados, estando frío y cuestionado si las opciones sin gluten eran realmente libres de gluten - ya que todos parecían iguales. * A lo largo de todo el tiempo nunca se nos dio ninguna razón de por qué esto estaba sucediendo, y la Administración brillaba mucho por su ausencia * Toda la experiencia fue un absoluto fiasco con el frente de camareras de casa teniendo que "cubrir" la ineptitud de la Administración y la Cocina - claramente la mano izquierda y derecha no tenía idea de lo que estaba pasando, y vergüenza en usted por poner a su personal en esta posición. Como habíamos pagado de toda la reserva por adelantado , la Gerencia (cuando finalmente aparecieron, justo antes de que nos fuéramos) nunca ofreció una disculpa, no ofreció ninguna disculpa real, ni ofreció una especie de recompensa por el servicio de appauling que recibimos. Indigo Yard fue muy recomendable, pero después de esta farsa y el servicio verdaderamente terrible proporcionado por la Administración, no volveremos. Toda la experiencia fue memorable - y no en el buen sentido - si vas a ofrecer almuerzos de Navidad en el futuro, entonces realmente necesitas ponerte las pilas.

We stopped by in the afternoon and were blown away by the gorgeous décor—so chic and inviting! Irish Charlie was an absolute star, serving up great drinks 🍀 If you’re in Edinburgh, don’t miss this spot. Perfect vibes, even in the daytime! 🥂✨

We went for a work Christmas meal and it was good! Staff were all really lovely. We had the whole back of the restaurant to ourselves. Live music was great. Food; goats cheese starter was ok, duck really good, dessert (chocolate torte) was terrible. The entrance, under the pavilion allowed for smoking (it seems) which meant we were all having to breath in smoke while queuing, that was awful. Overall I had a lovely night and would recommend :)

I went for the work xmas dinner. Lovely atmosphere, very good service and pretty good food. The only thing I didn't like was the sticky toffee pudding. It was dry and not moist at all.

company christmas lunch. very poor main - turkey - no consistency with the contents of the plates. turkey roll tasted and looked nasty. some potatoes black and the veg was either mush or rock hard First time but won't be back...very dissapointing

Great spot for some fantastic cocktails and amazing food, came here after a day of Christmas shopping and loved the decor and vibe of the whole place. Service was great and stayed after for a few drinks. Shoutout to benji on the bar for telling us all about the Scottish whiskeys and his suggestions were top notch. Will be coming back here again and thank you all for such a fun night.

Been to Indigo Yard many many times in the past but I’ve never seen it this bad.Drinks were ok but the food was very poor.Lukewarm and tasteless. Won’t be back unfortunately

Unfortunately we waited around 2 hours in total for mains and starters. I couldn't take advantage of the 2 courses as I had planned on a main and dessert, because we were then running late for our next plans. When the food arrived it was overcooked and dry. The 3 stars are for the team who were serving as they were very apologetic. The venue itself was very nice, funky and quite lively but I wouldn't rush back for food. I would return if just having a couple of drinks.

Having been to Indigo yard many times for drinks & really enjoyed my experience I decided to book the boozy brunch with some colleagues. There were 13 of us we had booked for 2:30 & we were seated and ordered promptly by 2:45 which was very efficient however the waiting time after this was a disgrace. We waited 30 minutes for the first drink. We did not receive our food until 4:15. I asked 3 times to be told it’ll be 5 or 10 minutes or it’s just being plated up now. During this time we were not advised of any delay (Until I asked) on the food nor were we attended to asked if we wanted extra drinks or anything unless we called the waitress. Having worked in hospitality I do understand the festive season can be extremely busy & stressful but I just don’t think the situation was handled well at all. The waitress was apologetic & gave us a discount but I just feel this has completely changed my opinion of indigo yard. Following this we asked if we could keep the table & the waitress was accommodating in allowing us to keep it until 6:15. However, it was then a nightmare trying to get a drink at the bar it took atleast 15/20 minutes before we were served as the barman was under severe pressure. The food for the most part was beautiful but a 90 minute wait for brunch was a bit of a joke!

friend's birthday brunch. the range of menu options were great, and the food and drinks we had were good. flora served us on this day and was exceptional: answered our questions about the menu, permitted me to swap the cocktails on the boozey brunch deal for coffee, got a glass of prosecco for my friend, was v conversational. most importantly (!!) seemed authentic and not following any sort of script with her recommendations or taking our orders. really made it feel like we were being hosted well.

Nice patio with heaters, later evening supper.. Tastey interesting menu with many choices , well cooked... We chose several smaller ones to sgare... Gambas were my favourite!

We went on Wednesday night and it was reasonably busy. We had a few drinks and put an order in for food. The starters were slightly delayed, but we weren't too worried because we had lots to talk about, but the mains just took an age to arrive even when asking the front of house staff three times where the food was. It arrived after about an hour and it was really tasteless. They did take all of the food off the bill without us asking, which was good, but it won't be the first place on our nights out.

Very small, poorly cooked overpriced portions. Thay add service charge, rip off. It is not clear there is a 10% addition on your bill till you pay. Used to go there, will never come back.

The Pina Colada was a disgrace. £10 for a glass of ice. You could hardly get the paper straw through the ice to actually drink the small amount of liquid at the bottom. If I could give it zero stars, I would.

Lovely atmosphere, relaxed dining but nicer than in a pub - they were able to accommodate a big group without a reservation on a Sunday. I had the thai beef salad which was very good as well.

Was here with a group of friends on a Sunday, early evening. No booking, there was plenty of space to fit everyone inside (and outside). Cleanish, but not all of the menus. Great atmosphere and I do think it's a good choice to have gatherings in this party of New Town. I tried their pappardelle. Pleasant, though wasn't anything special. Do consider whether you want a main, or a starter with another or a side. There's a 12.5% mandatory service charge with all orders, as stated on the menu. In fairness, service was good overall.

The site is very beautiful. You can have cocktails and other types of drinks. They serve well and are pleasant. My family and I went 2 times. The first one was just a drink and we liked it so much that we went back to eat. My husband's burger and my daughter's sandwich were delicious and well presented, however my steak had grill marks and tasted burnt. The desserts are delicious and everything up to that point is passable. The surprise was when the bill amounted to €175 at the exchange rate. Our surprise was to see that they charge €20/person for the service. Something totally excessive and that cannot be surpassed by any higher level restaurant in Edinburgh. For this reason, the overall rating of the site does not exceed 2 stars in the review.

A bit hard to find, but a busy, place to eat which is off the tourist track. Food is pub food and generally good. I had a hamburger and it was fine. They add a 12.5% service charge to the bill, so don’t overtip.

The Indigo Yard was such a fun place the visit on our first time to Edinburgh. The atmosphere was pleasant but relaxed for an early dinner. They had it so well decorated and the ambiance was lovely. The food did not disappoint and the wait staff were so nice.

I was with a party of 3 friends and we had a wonderful time. Our server was excellent, professional, polite and attentive. Nithing was too much trouble. Will certainly go again.

Lovely place was there celebrating sons 30th birthday. Staff all really nice and helpful even when extremely busy.

Sat outside -noisy cobbled Street which was annoying. Servers friendly and efficient. Food pretty standard. No parking but close to trams and buses.

I came here with some friends for a spot of lunch after being recommended by a work colleague, this did not disappoint! The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating and the food/drinks were outstanding. I had the chorizo burger which was OUT OF THIS WORLD! whilst my friends got lots of little bits to share which everyone really enjoyed. I went to Indigo Yard with my family of 5 for me and my Husband’s 30th Wedding Anniversary. The staff made such an effort to make this night really special and the food was amazing. Would really recommend this place.

Visited with some friends for the first time and we should have come sooner! Heard so many people talking about this hidden gem in Edinburgh and it didn't disappoint, great choice of food on the menu for me (fussy eater 🙈) and the staff were lovely and accommodating even though the place was jumping!!! Already booked to come back with my dad as know he'll love it ;)

I booked a table and got drinks and ordered. Saturday 20 July 1pm. An hour and a half later and a few more drinks no sign. Service should have noticed the delay. But no. Two hours still no food. Asked managed who advised our burger and ciabatta's had been delayed in the kitchen. That wasn’t our order. Unbelievable. Never again. Walked out. Refused to pay for anything.

Just make sure you buy your drinks as you go along, rather than get the bill for your food AND drinks with a service charge.

We actually wanted to have dinner here, but it was full, so we had breakfast there the next day. It is a super nice restaurant, nice terrace and friendly staff. We had a nice breakfast.

We visited for dinner during a university open day on the recommendation of local friends. It was a very cosy environment, the staff were friendly and helpful, the service was quick and we ate well. Thank you!

Booked a table for 6, disastrous experience. We had a table beside a 'private' party area who stood noisily beside us and staff didn't make them sit down (they admitted they should have been sitting but it was clear they had no intention and were served 'finger food'). Noise levels took another notch up when quiz-night began. Ridiculous, we couldn't hear a thing. Manager said we would have been notified that there was a quiz night on when we booked a Wednesday. This is a clear lie-try booking a Wednesday for yourself-no ,warning! Manager did provide a discount but not nearly enough and would have happily paid more if noise levels were under control. So was the food good enough to make up for the negative experience? Unfortunately not.

Absolutely amazing food and cocktails. Waited a wee while for a second round of cocktails. But the waitress who took the payment was absolutely amazing - a real credit to indigo yard!

Menu has recently changed and it's a lot less nice than it used to be - also meat was overcooked, and I'm pretty sure I got food poisoning (currently lying in bed like a victorian child two days later). Staff are nice but the place is so understaffed that there's nobody around/available if you want to order another drink or even just pay the bill.

We enjoyed our drinks and food, but our server didn't really pay us any attention, got two drink orders wrong, one person's food order incorrect-still delicious though, didn't check in, had to remind her about thr drinks we ordered, then had to go to the bar for drinks after waiting an hour. Go earlier for dinner and not during the rush.

Got the chicken schnitzel and was definitely not expecting it to be this big! The portion was generous and everything was delicious! The waitress was very nice and even accepted to pack the leftovers for me when I could not finish it!

Came to indigo yard to have lunch and watch the rugby. Great location in town and great place to watch the match - big screen in the main bar area and big telly in the restaurant so we could watch the game whilst we ate. Food was delicious and staff were all really friendly too! Booked a seat outside to watch the next 6 nations match and outside area all covered to protect you from the Scottish weather and heaters provided too! Will 100% be back again in the future!

Booked a table to watch the six Nations - 2 matches. Scotland V Italy and Ireland V England.. The table we sat at was next to the door of the bar. If I got up once to close it I must have got up 100 times, not joke!! We were there 5 hours! I have never been as cold in a bar in all my life! Take note! If you are going to watch the Six Nations they only turn the sound up on the commentary for Scotland matches. We had already been there looking forward to the Ireland match. I had to go and ask for the volume to be turned up and was told no. I think the guy took pity on me looking at my reaction. We were going to have to leave and quickly find another bar but the bar man turned the volume up. Had I have known they only have commentary on for Scotland matches I would not have booked this bar.

I was honestly so shocked and disappointed with my experience at Indigo Yard. We went to take advantage of the £15 dinner offer that was being advertised all over socials. The food was actually shocking, in a bad way. The starters were bland, super oily and quite cold. The main we chose was the steak frites, and this was extremely poor. I tasted it and couldn’t eat any more. The meat was cold and tough, and the “peppercorn sauce” was literally curry sauce. This was not the meal we were hoping for and definitely not what is being advertised online. We spoke to the staff about our problem and they handled it professionally and removed the item from our bill which I am grateful for. The only good things I found were the cocktails (especially the mango margarita) and the staff. That was it. So disappointing…

Great atmosphere with great drinks/ staff. All the bartenders were attentive and clearly knew what they were doing, service always came with a smile and a laugh. Special shout-out to Fraser for making the best French martini I’ve ever had, but the rest of the guys/ gals were great too! Will definitely be back.

Dinner booked for 3 friends. Very busy when arrived. Very slow service, ordered starters, very pitiful, one of them nachos with chicken (it turned out to be hunt the chicken). We waited about an hour for main course due to there being a wedding on we were informed. When food came, cold, congealed sauce. Waiter apologised. Ended up not charging for main courses. Will not return.
