Where to begin with this shambles of a venue. Absolutely nothing in stock, staff are clueless as to what they are doing and management quite simply are rude and aggressive when asked simple questions. Staff members always appear to be too busy playing stupid little games or on their phones or talking to each other rather than doing a job they’re actually paid to do, explains why wait times are so common at this Revolution. I’ve heard that this place is shutting down and I can honestly say good riddance to the place, shambolic experience and the closure date can’t come soon enough. Hopefully get something even half decent to replace this joke of a “restaurant”.

Absolutely delighted with my experience here. Rory and Esther the bar staff were amazing. Would definitely be the first place i come back to next time I'm in Edinburgh.

Walked in with our Granddaughter last Sunday following a celebration meal for her graduation the previous day...it was "one for the road" before going our seperate ways. From the moment we entered greeted by a manager (we think) who made us feel welcome and explained the offers on ,, Cocktails....which incidentally were excellent! I'm not going into detail but the manager gave us a lovely surprise (free of charge) to celebrate the occasion....such a kind gesture and our granddaughter was very chuffed...what a great manager (?) not just because of the surprise but very courteous, friendly who took an interest in the clientele... Ladies toilets were very clean (also a plus) food looked ok and everyone seemed to enjoy whatever they were eating or drinking....well done...

For the majority of our Europe trip we’ve picked food places based on where we are at various meal times. We popped in here for lunch after a visit to the National Museum due to the enticing lunch special. The man who sat us and took our order seemed a bit annoyed that we walked in and disinterested in being there but sometimes people have off days so we put it aside. There are virtually no non-alcoholic beverage options firstly which was a bit of a disappointment (no regular Coke, for instance, which has been available everywhere else). Bottled water, Coke Zero, or carbonated lemonade are pretty much the only choices. They also were out of fish already which we were not informed of until trying to order it. After waiting nearly 40 minutes and seeing the table next to us receive their food, finish it, and leave, we inquired about our order with a different server. He checked and informed us it was just put in. We received the food around 10 min later. The salad was subpar, especially after waiting almost an hour for it. The croutons in the Caesar salad were inedible as they were fully soggy and falling apart by the time the salad got to us. My mother’s food which should’ve been hot was only lukewarm and tasted as if it had been sitting out the entire time. Easily the most disappointing food so far after 2 weeks in Europe. We were surprised to see so many other positive reviews. May be fine for drinks but wouldn’t recommend for lunch.

Fabulous venue for an evening out. Atmosphere, staff and food were all first class Couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome. Highly recommend a visit.

They are not wheelchair accessible. They blatantly lie if you phone them about it. The lift is out of order so you cannot access anything other than the bar level and their disabled bathroom is downstairs so you can’t use the toilet if you are there. They said over the phone that a wheelchair would get into the standard bathrooms. It simple doesn’t. We ordered food on the app and waited over an hour before we asked about it to them to be told “we’re busy someone should have told you it would an hour an half wait at least for food”

As a fan of the revolution chain, and having visited quite a few of their bars I found this one very disappointing. The drinks were quite expensive and the location as a whole was very small and lacked any kind of atmosphere. When in comes to revolution bars this has to be one of the worst ones out there.

We agreed to meet friends here before attending a concert. I found it ridiculous that they would only accept payment by card. What if we'd already had lunch and went to pay by cash? The sour-faced bar staff when I had to go back to our group to get a card from my husband just added to the experience. Drinks were expensive, the place was grubby and there are far better bars which charge less and have nicer surroundings and also take cash.

Maybe it was an off day but the staff were stand offish and unhelpful. Took ages to make four cocktails. Three were the same but one was loaded with alcohol and the other two hardly any.

Absolutely shocking, this is not an afternoon tea. 1 small burger, 1 chicken strip. 1 small cheesy bite and small dish of cheesy potatoes. No cutlery and no napkins. I would also like to add we were not offered any deserts. We were given 5 glasses for our Prosecco even though 6 were paid for.

Service was slow and the food was cold. If you have celiac / coeliac disease beware! I had the gluten-free pizza and was in pain before I finished eating.

Been here a few times and always great, the staff are super friendly and helpful and the drinks are amazing too! We came for brunch before and the food was super tasty and came again for music bingo and the tunes were great! Definitely will be back again soon

For context, my experience of this place has been on a few Saturday evenings. The main upside of this place is that it's large, when you taking into account not only the ground level, but the basement level too. The main downsides however are a) the bar service is painfully slow (not enough staff behind the bars imo), and b) on Saturday's it leans heavily into attracting club-goers, which means it can be excessive loud in places and can attract some quite sketch characters. In short, there's a chance you might like this place, but no one wants bar service that takes 30-45 minutes, so that needs to improve no matter who the clientele are.

Nous avons été déçus par ce bar/restaurant. Les cocktails était bons mais la nourriture vraiment médiocre… Nous étions deux et avons dû attendre 40 minutes entre le service de nos deux plats ! Et le pain de l’un des hamburgers n’était juste pas comestible.. De plus, il nous a même fallut réclamer des couverts ! La commande se faisait via une application et nous n’avions même pas de réseau dans l’établissement. L’un des serveurs nous a offert des cocktails pour s’excuser de l’attente, c’est pour cela que nous mettons 2 étoiles et non 1 … Je pense que c’est un bon bar mais je vous déconseille d’y manger !

Where to begin .. we sat down ourselves as we stood to be seated for about 10 minutes no one even around we had 3 kids under 6 so would have liked a seat fairly quickly then the waiter took our order bearing in mind half the stuff wasn’t available, we waited over an hour for 2 mains and 2 kids meals by this point they wer getting hungry and restless there was about 3 staff in the place the food was utterly shocking never seen nachos like it if thats what u call them the fish was like jelly coated in southern fried chicken grease kids meal dry to the bone the whole experience was just awful and we couldn’t wait to leave.. the kids brownie was the size of my nail then had to wait a further 10 mins to pay the bill.. soo bad save your money folks..

Decided to use our voucher that we got for Christmas, upgraded it to include the grazers, and added a couple more. We were served by Cristian who was extremely helpful, and made my birthday special, food was great just enough so we could have extra drinks. Thank you Cristian and look forward to returning xx

Had a terrible experience in this bar all thanks to a lady that said she was a covering manager from revolution in glasgow. We had an issue with both our food & table and brought up these minor issues that could easily have been sorted but the sheer dismissivenes & arrogance she showed to paying customers was next level out of order, we decided to pay what we owed & left and found much better service & friendly staff literally 100 yards round the corner. Have since found out revolution are considering closing this bar & I have to say im not surprised. Seriously revolution your employee that claims to be a manager (nikki) from your glasgow restaurant please do yourself a favor and relieve her off her position.

We had a booking for food at the restaurant but there was no one to welcome customers. After waiting at the bar, uninterested staff said had to go an call a manager to sit us. Long wait to be seated, further wait for menus. When we went to order many things were not available; and staff struggled to put the table number and order. Again bar staff was struggling to process a promotional voucher and simply replied “is not reading it”. He had zero interest in providing a good service; not willing to find solutions or call someone who could. The place was quiet so no excuse there. In all business things can go wrong; what is really important is how staff react to things/solve problems. The member of staff behind the bar lacked any customer service skills and will benefit from urgent training. After painfully watching the bar staff indifference for minutes we left and went for dinner somewhere else.

My staff and i went for a work night out and the staff at revolution edinburgh were beyond exceptional, krystian especially he was so attentive and lovely towards all me staff and i. Would book here again.

Absolutely the pits. So hilariously awful we will dining out on the anecdotes for years. 2 hour wait to serve 6 out of 7 meals pre ordered in advance, and what arrived was not edible. Photos speak a thousand words.

We ordered hamburger menu. Fries was very burned and they are too tasteless I had ever eaten. Also bacon was too salty. And staffs are unfriendly! We couldnt use the app

Really bad experience. There were various parties in for bottomless brunch and there weren't enough staff to cope. Our booking was 2-4 and we ended up staying til 5 because they couldn't give us our cocktails within the time frame. The majority of our meals came out about 3/3.30 but 3 of our party had to wait even longer for theirs. We did complain because we'd been sat for half hour without anyone taking our order and the staff quickly extended our time slot and gave us complementary prosecco because they were short staffed. To be fair to the staff, they were amazing and did everything they could to appease everyone (we weren't the only party complaining) so this review is aimed at management - if you can't accommodate that many parties at the same time, cut the staff some slack and don't sell as many slots

We had a wonderful afternoon tea using a voucher which was a present. We couldn't complain about a thing. We sat in a booth which was lovely. We had the afternoon tea that had the burger sliders etc and also 3 desserts. The young women in the next booth had traditional afternoon tea and cocktails. So obviously there are different afternoon teas depending on which vouchers are bought. We preferred our one and had a lovely afternoon. The music wasn't up to much but we are older and not our taste but it was only background music. Logan was very attentive and made sure we were OK and had everything we needed. We will be back

Awful, awful, awful! Everything was deep fried, except the deserts, which meant the cheesecake was still frozen in the middle. Even the 1/2 price cocktails couldn’t make up for it. We were in and out in 45 mins. Did feedback and were told that they’d let the kitchen know.

It's a nice place. Sadly, they were out of half the menu, and their beer selection is pretty sad, but they made up for it with the food. Do NOT try to use the App or the Free wifi. You will waste 10 minutes filling out forms.

The vegan options were great! I feel like i had a great choice, our waiter Loagn was amazing! He would pop by and ask of we were okay and needed anything else! Food and drinks were great, music was good! Not too wild!

Lilith was a great host and cocktail master on our cocktail class for a hen party. We all had great fun with a group aged 20's to 60's. Good value for money. Definitely recommend.

We had an event here Thursday. Big thank you to Katie and Dylan (and Caitlin if I remembered correctly) Katie made sure we were set and stayed overtime to make sure everything went smoothly. Nothing was too much trouble, she was professional and thorough. Dylan held the bar and team amazingly throughout the night. Making sure to remind us of our tab and they all stayed an hour extra as the party was still going. Brilliant staff and great to have the separate location and bouncers to make the night run smoothly. Only slightest issue was the wifi - but staff did everything to help with that!

Three customers and three servers yet extremely slow service. Drinks are cheap but watered down.

Revolution bar should not venture into afternoon tea. Stick to what you’re good at 🤦🏼‍♀️ There were no aspects of an afternoon tea, no scones, no sandwiches just a small burger, fries and some dessert options that were bland and tasteless. The cutlery was stickier than the floors, the plates had blue sticky substance around it, and the included strawberry vodka shots… I mean, what even are those?!? The chicken was clearly frozen and quickly shoved in a microwave. So tough and horrible you could throw it and make dents in a concrete wall. The only saving grace was the pathway to the exit. 100% would not recommend.

We done a cocktail masterclass yesterday with Lillith and it was great. She kept us all completely entertained throughout. Would highly recommend. Great value for money.

Where do we even start… afternoon tea needs a re-think. I’ve been to several of these bars before for drinks and they have been perfect. How wrong was I to assume revolution in Edinburgh would be the same! Afternoon tea was redeemed via a voucher which was a smooth process when we booked over the phone. It then went downhill from here. Upon arrival, the place seemed clean and tidy and I was thoroughly looking forward to it. After being seated, the first signs of demise were the blue sticky marks on the cutlery and plates. After the members of staff confirmed our order, the food arrived fairly quickly. However, expecting sandwiches, scones and all things typical British, a plater consisting of 1/4 burger each, 4 cheesy jalapeños fried, and a sharing bowl (rather small) of cheesy cheap chips arrived with a small portion of the toughest chicken strips I have ever attempted to take a bite of. This was shortly followed by the arrival of the desserts - a single, cold, hard waffle with pre-melted ice cream and a small serving of berries to add to the tasteless flavour. This also included a slither of chocolate brownie (also tasteless) and what tasted like a cheesy sock but was suppose to be a cheese cake. I think the only good part was the tea which I am pretty sure was an ‘additional extra’ - ironic considering the name of the package. Guess what, even the tea pot was sticky! After nibbling away at the monstrosity, we couldn’t wait to leave. Thoroughly gutted and I feel like the experience has completely flipped my views of the brand. I hope a representative from the company reads this review and decides to try afternoon tea for themselves. I would recommend a few stomach settlers after just for good measure. To be fair to the staff, they were friendly and welcoming but I think even they knew what a poor decision we were in for. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

I can’t comment of the food as we didn’t have any. On arrival I had to call to make sure it was open as the doors were locked. After being let in the bar was relatively quiet. Unfortunately we were unable to eat as the kitchen had shut early due to being over run with booking, which I would understand had there been more than 2 tables actually full. I did try to book earlier in the day but the website said it was to short notice, but there were always a number of tables available for walk ins. I was left very disappointed and will not be returning!

So I didn't hate the venue but the broken toilets and missing toilet door has not been replaced since last year!!!!

After a last minute visit to Revs on Saturday it could not go without saying how helpful and excellent the staff are, a girl called Lilith (purple short hair). She was very helpful when members of my group asked what drinks she recommended and the drinks she made were nothing but pure perfection. Thank you Lilith for making our night!

Stopped in on Saturday for to try their Bottomless Brunch and it was fantastic. I'm not a huge cocktail fan but the ones they have here are spectacular. I'd recommend upgrading to the premium brunch offer they have as that opens up your options a bit more while still being better priced than a lot of other brunch options in Edinburgh. Can't recommend it enough! I've been on a few nights out here for as well and they've all been wonderful. No complaints!

Places deserves less than 1 star from the experience I had in there.

My partner and I were gifted a voucher for afternoon tea which we endeavoured to redeem today. We were second to be seated after doors open. We sat for forty minutes watching potential patron stand by the door and leave, as others who had managed to be seated after ourselves were delivered food, admittedly it looked a lot like they were complaining about what had been served. The closest we got to putting in an order was when a member of staff wandered in our direction whilst hopefully calling out strawberry daiquiri. When we informed him that nobody had taken our order (so the daiquiri could not infect be ours) the penny did not drop and he continued on his anonymous liquid quest, I hope he found his intended target or he may well still be wandering now. When the clock struck the half way mark of or reservation we asked a member of staff if he could please take our order. He left for a further 6 minutes to check what we were eligible for. Upon his return I asked if he was able to offer us a timeframe for getting food which he was unable to. At which point we left, walked across the road to another restaurant where we received two mains, two sides, drinks and dessert in less time than we’d been seated in revolution at what felt much like the eerie Christmas song filled emptiness the precedes a primary school disco. Unfortunately this was pre paid

The doorman/bouncer was really rude. My sister who is 22 was spoken to really condescending and didn’t believe her age even though giving him, her actual ID. He was horrible and made non excusable jokes that were so wrong. Do not recommend going here.

Got dragged here by my mate three times in a row over three days because he wanted to try and hit on women truthfully would have preferred a scotch bar

They put a lot of effort in the drinks that are super! On Wednesday there is a big variety of drinks at a fixed price of 6 £ The atmosphere is so good! 5 stars place

We went with a few friends for some cocktails before heading somewhere for dinner and the service and drinks were excellent 🙂 we had been previously last year and they have really stepped their game up recently 👏🏻 Alex was wonderful and very attentive making our visit even better, we will be back!

Took more than 90 minutes for food to arrive, nearly everyone's order was wrong. Vegan items given instead of proper chicken breast. Volume of food served compaired to price charged felt like being at a 5 star restaurant, Terrible experience,

I had to organise an after-work food&drinks event on a short notice and contacted a few venues, only Revolution was as responsive and flexible as possible, so the choice was easy. Every step of the way our needs were met, from booking to sending out receipts and invoices after the event. Although the evening got really busy at one point, the duty manager was under control and made sure all food orders arrived on time. The guy behind the bar preparing the cocktails was in his element, serving the entire floor on his own. Overall impressive customer service!

I bought a voucher from Groupon for ab Afternoon Tea. When I bought it, it didn't mention that it wasn't valid on a Saturday. The waitress came and explained that we couldn't use the voucher and that we were required to book. The voucher stated that no pre booking was necessary. The manager told us to get on touch with Groupon as there was nothing he could do about it. I asked if he could extend the voucher as it was only valid until 30th Sept, which didn't leave much time to reschedule. Again, he said he couldn't do that. We'll need to take this up with Groupon. He didn't offer us any help or assistance at all, just blamed Groupon. We feel that he couldve offered us an alternative, at least tried to suggest something to help. Perhaps his hands are tied, as Revolution is a chain and he's likely to have limited scope for helping customers. Between them and Groupon, I'd never bother with any of them again. I get that the voucher was basically useless on saturday, but the bar could've made an effort to help, rather than telling us to take it up with Groupon, as he'll know that that's pointless! The voucher definitely didn't say that it wasn't valid on a sat, as I specifically checked that before I bought it as I knew that the only day we could go was a sat! Pathetic that between Revolution and Groupon they can con people into buying deals that don't exist. If you ever see a Groupon deal for Revolution don't buy it! Who knows if you can even use it!

Prebooked a meal weeks in advance, when we arrived they had no idea what we ordered. The servers avoided providing service at all costs. They then wanted to accuse us of lying when only half our drinks arrived. Food was dreadful, microwaved. Ordered a katsu curry which was goujons and chips with curry sauce. A complete kip inside, all that was missing were heroin needles. You can do so much better.

They would not accept cash, friend had to pay by card, left after one drink to find a place that accepted real money

The catering was surprisingly good. Straightforward service. A wide selection of "popular" alcoholic beverages e.g. WKD, lagers and fruit ciders.

Absolutely abysmal! We went to Revolution in Leicester recently and felt the service and the food would be similar in Edinburgh, how wrong we were. We went to have some lunch, together, we were the first to arrive as pointed out by the colleague himself. We ordered drinks, I showed by voucher which the representative said would be fine and would be redeemed at the end. We then ordered food. Please tell me why, a group of ladies that arrived well after us, were served before us with their food, only then to realise our food was sat on their table, it was then brought to us after a full 5 minutes. We specified what we’d like in our wraps and both meals were wrong. We sent one back, as we didn’t want to cause a fuss. This was only due to allergies. I had the other. A free cocktail was then given to the alternative table. Why not our table? The bar tender had made a cocktail for me, due to making so much, it was given to the other table. We then waited, and waited and waited for the second meal to return. Eventually in was brought out to us. Another colleague came to ask if everything was ok as the initial server recognised he had made a few errors. I made the colleague aware of the issues and she spoke to (what seemed to be) the manager for the day. She came and acknowledged the errors and stated she would give one meal for free due to the errors and the delay in service. Upon paying for the food, we were being charged for the cocktail that I had a voucher for, to be told it was not redeemable but they would put it through anyway. I was pleased to a degree with the final results, but the service was not to a Revolution standard that I’m used to or had recently experienced. It was then pretty obvious that there was a new member to the team, which was being used as an excuse for the errors. Overall, the food was great, but the service, poor. 💫

The only helpful member of staff is Patrick. Everyone else dissapears, food and drinks are as expected, nothing special. Good place for a casual, (usually) quick drink.

Lovely staff, great feel to the place. The food menu is decent though could have few more options but still a good varity and the drinks menu is supper. It also quite reasonable priced espically considering being located in Edinburgh.

The nice food , slow in the delivery of food , had 5 fish fingers on a roll nice but the price for the tiniest tin casserole dish of chips £6 total rip off , £10 for a cocktail just full off ice , yes it the festival , heard so much about it thought I’d give it a bash 1st & last . We had made a reservation for food but were never given a menu, just a simple “here’s your table” before the member of staff walked away. Instead we had to order everything via their app because not one member of staff came over to take an order from us, even for drinks. Over half the menu was not available and when our food arrived we had to ask for cutlery. When they brought it over they gave us one napkin between 2 people??? Cocktails were good but that’s it. Service was slow and terrible, and the tables around us were clearly unhappy too. It wasn’t even busy.
