Elliot the wine waiter was great so was Jean the waitress .I had the chicken but my pots were not thoroughly cooked. Was soon remedied with some mashed potato to replace. My husband choked on his meat but the swift action of the manager saved him and again so professionally handled. Not sure when we will next be back to Edinburgh, but will book again whenever we are there. Fabulous place.

Went in yesterday afternoon for a few drinks and were shown to our table. Sat for the next 10 to 15 while we were ignored by the waiting staff who proceeded to serve a couple of tables who arrived after us. It wasn’t particularly busy so that can’t be used as excuse. On the way out mentioned to the 3 staff at the reception area why we were leaving and given a half hearted “oh we will speak to them about it” which I’ve no doubt won’t have happened. Really poor service from a business that apparently prides itself on its reputation.

Everything was excellent from start to end. Food was excellent and service was first class. Well worth a visit!

I rarely leave poor reviews, but I was so disappointed with afternoon tea at The Dome. I've had many, and this was the worst and one of the most expensive. When we arrived we were offered a choice of fruit or plain scone, which when they came were pretty small and dry. No cheese option (note usually at afternoon tea you get both cheese and fruit). I did see on the menu it was one scone, but the photos showed lovely large fluffy scones. This was not the case in reality. Sandwiches were lovely, and we did enjoy those. When we were down to one layer, the cakes on the top, and were pondering which one to have first, the waitress came over and whipped the stand away and left us with a lonely plate in the middle of the table. She didn't ask, just told us she was taking it (for our benefit apparently?). The point of afternoon tea is the layered stand, if I wanted a plate of cakes, I'd go to a cafe. The cakes were tasteless, if I hadn't read online what they were, I'd never have known the flavours (we also weren't told this information by the waitress). At this point, we had run out of tea and drunk our glass of champagne. No service came to offer more tea or drinks, and it was impossible to get their attention. I went to the loo and encountered the waitress in there, which also was unexpected - no staff loo? When we were ready to leave, we had to get up and wait to pay at the door, as again, no staff had come to see us at the table. Overall, I was extremely disappointed, it was my husband's birthday and his first afternoon tea experience. I would not recommend it. I'm sure there are lots of other options in Edinburgh and I wish I'd chosen differently.

A lovely afternoon tea in beautiful surroundings

A magical restaurant. It takes you back to another era. Definitely something that someone should visit if they are in Edinburgh. The staff is very polite. And the price is not expensive, always in relation to what the place offers of course. Estimate 30-50 € per person

Had a voucher for 2x 2 course lunch but will never buy one for anyone in the future. Staff were very attentive and beautiful room but 1. Staff took us into brunch room initially rather than lunch area 2. Starter of chicken liver parfait was on inedible bread, hard to even cut through . 3. Main of breaded haddock was very bland and both of us left half our dishes. 4. Had 2 lattes (without a sniff of a biscuit) The bill for these was £14.95 - £4.95 for service which was fine but made me wonder if we would have been billed for service if we had not added coffees?

Greeted politely and happily from the moment we arrived. We enjoyed the venue,food and atmosphere the only let down we had was our main table server Jennifer. We felt the surrounding tables were given more attention by other waitresses/waiters. Other than that we had a great afternoon tea and overall a stunning building

I had an absolutely amazing experience at The Dome ! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The food was simply outstanding—every dish was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. What truly made the evening special was the incredible service. The entire staff was attentive and friendly, but a special shoutout goes to Tea, who went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Their kindness, professionalism, and attention to detail made the meal even more enjoyable. If you’re looking for a place with fantastic food and top-notch service, The Dome is the spot! I’ll definitely be coming back.

Had a fabulous lunch here atmosphere and surroundings stunning. We were served by Tea she was very professional and very customer focused made us feel very welcome thoughout this experience . Food and cocktails 🍸 lovely would highly recommend.

What a find, I must thank Gary from ‘Gary Eats’ for recommending this really unique restaurant. We booked online and arrived probably 45 minutes early for our 16:15 reservation, it was no problem, we were quickly seated and reading our menus, my wife has a milk intolerance, and they had a menu just for that circumstance. I started with the Haggis, Neeps and Tatties, while my wife had the Scottish Mussels, both excellent, with the Haggis came a black pepper gravy, while the Mussels were spiced with some green chillies. Then for mains I had the Chicken Brest, and Sonia has the Venison Steak, both of us washed this down with a bottle of Malbec. The Sticky Toffee pudding was calling Sonia, while I had an Americano Coffee. The bill included a 10% service charge, and with the attention we received from the staff (Ryan and Nikolaos) was well deserved. The total price for our meal was £127.33

Booked brunch menu..the lad who served us was most pleasant and helpful.. Food arrived.in minutes..nice and hot...and fresh ingredients....will definitely..be going back...only wish I could remember the servers name.....today Tues 1o.30 am.

We went for the itison brunch deal and were not disappointed. There were a few options on the menu and we both enjoyed our choices. The atmosphere was lovely and the club bar was beautiful and felt so luxurious. Service was great too with helpful, friendly waiting staff.

Had tea time here, good value decent food but they played like top 100 80s music and it really killed the atmosphere. Would be a 4.5 if they didn’t play weird music for fancy tea time

Second visit here and was left feeling underwhelmed, food was ok, nicely presenting but lacked a little flavour and seasoning, service was ok but a bit intrusive at times, feeling if big brother was watching you. Nice atmosphere and reasonably priced.

There can be no debate that The Dome is one of the most impressive buildings to home a restaurant and has stunning decorations and decor. The amazing smell from the massive flower arrangements as we walked in was breathtaking and is something my green fingered wife will remember for some time. We had pre-booked, with a deposit and were taken to our table with efficiency. Water was offered and poured and menus provided at pace. Unfortunately that’s where the speediness of service ended. It took one hour twenty minutes from arrival for our meals to be eventually served. It was a shame because when our dishes did arrive it was all very good indeed. There were six of us and we all went for either the monkfish curry or the breaded cod. The fish cookery was excellent, and I can vouch that the curry came with quite a punch. There was a limited dessert menu and nothing took our fancy, so we settled the bill and headed off into the Edinburgh night. To conclude the wait staff were excellent, just maybe not enough of them for a busy Friday night service.

I went to the Dome with my baby to enjoy Brunch. The staffs were kind and I saw that they were trying to make a comfortable mood for me and baby so we can enjoy our breakfast time. Will definately visit again.

It’s absolutely unbelievable place with really good food. And I could stop making photos there. Majestic and impressive building. Very friendly people working there. Now it’s my fav place to eat in Edinburgh. Fortunately I can visit it very often. Me and my husband highly recommend this place to enjoy the food and ambiance.

I saw this on a YouTuber's page, and we decided to give it a try. We called in on a whim, got a table straight away, and had an hour's utter luxury. The service, food, drinks, staff, and ambience surpassed my very high expectations. I will return.

The best place for afternoon tea in all of Scotland. Well, we haven't tried anywhere else, but I find it hard to believe that it's possible to improve on what I can only describe as "Perfection".

Wonderful afternoon tea in the Georgian tea rooms. A real treat.

Really disappointed with the Sunday roast, the beef was hard work and had to leave a lot, when raised with the waitress she apologised but did nothing to resolve it. When I asked to have the gratuity removed the bill was adjusted by £10 but left a gratuity on, wasn't going to ask again so paid the bill and left, later found they hadn't removed the £20 deposit I paid online. We shall not return on our next Edinburgh trip. I guess they feel the amazing decor keeps the customers?

Just brilliant. I was really worried it would be expensive ( our daughter had booked it) but prices were very reasonable considering the venue. Good food and great friendly service.

The place is incredibly beautiful, the staff is very helpful, the person in charge is willing to serve you in everything, but the food is below average, the burrata we ordered frozen from the freezer had not had time to thaw, the fries with truffles came cold to the table, which we returned and they brought us fresh fried ones, and the dessert or tart with chocolate caramel was from the freezer, it's a shame for such a nice environment not to eat well!!

I had dinner here on Monday 2/17 as a treat for my birthday. The service was wonderful. Everyone was kind and courteous. I had mentioned to the waitress that I was treating myself for my birthday and she brought me a few chocolates on a plate with a candle that had a little happy birthday sign! It was a wonderful surprise! The food was delicious and the restaurant itself is stunning! I spent the evening just staring at the ceiling! Would def recommend

Was thrilled to find a lovely, traditional afternoon tea in traditional setting, with white linen tablecloths, silver teapots and strainers and delicious sandwiches and freshly baked scones (my favourite was the cheese and pickle sandwich). So far, this is the best place I’ve been to for afternoon tea in Edinburgh. Just perfect! The price is very reasonable. You can also request more sandwiches and scones at an extra charge, but this is still very reasonable. They were also very accommodating to several dietary requests made. Will most definitely go back.

Absolutely stunning venue, whenever we visit Edinburgh we always try and pop in here. The bar is absolutely gorgeous, the cocktails are divine, and such a lovely and relaxed atmosphere too.

Nice afternoon tea experience, but everyone seemed to get some water with the meal, except for us..

Great building, chill musics, helpful staff. It would be great to have drinks with big groups or celebrations. Average food, loved the truffle parmesan fries and my friend loved the tortellini . Soup of the day, grilled steak and sticky toffee pudding were average. I had the feeling that the dome is more for drinks than for food. The dress code is smart casual for the grill room. If you over dress you might get the chance to take fancy photos in the building as the upstairs feels like open museum.😬

Popped in for pre dinner drinks with friends. Seated for 10-15 minutes before we were able to flag down someone to order drinks. No wine list on the table so they brought one and wandered off. A further 5 minutes later we had to get up to find our server who appeared to be chatting to another staff member; finally they came over and took our order. Drinks didn't arrive for a further 15-20 minutes, meaning we had to drink up quickly as we had dinner reservations. No real apology - just said they were busy (there were several empty tables around us). Problem seemed to be only one person behind the bar mixing cocktails, while there were several servers on the floor waiting for drinks or chatting. No option just to order at the bar, or have 2 bar staff - one making cocktails and one pouring other drinks. What shoukd have been pleasant pre-meal drinks turned into an annoying and rushed experience. We are locals but won't be back.

The service was absolutely outstanding, our waiter was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble, we will definitely be returning and would not hesitate to recommend to anyone! We were there for a special occasion, it was my dad’s 80th birthday and they made sure we had a fabulous time! The Grill room was stunning especially sitting under that beautiful dome! It was also exceptionally very clean!

The food quality here has gone down drastically. We were disappointed and we won't be back. Also servers would only help there tables, if our server was gone and we asked for assistance, we were ignored.

Walking past and the Mrs said this looked lovely at Christmas time and wondered what looked like inside. Went for a peek and the guy checking booking said was ok to go in for a drink. Managed to bag a seat, but the place was very very busy. Sat for 10 min before catching a waitress eye, the was told it was bar service. So went and stood in a Q at the bar to be told it was table service. Sat down for ages before being told again it was bar service :/ Apart from the hassle trying to get a drink, the place looks lovely and will book a dinner one night for the family.

Stunning place, Corinthian style. A bank transformed into a posh restaurant. You would expect fine dining or high cuisine, in reality we experienced food for tourists. Risotto that accompanied fish was below average, overcooked, raw onions, and not well paired with peas Not sure will come back to eat if they do not improve it. Surely indicated for an afternoon tea.

There for an early dinner. Food was exceptional. All staff were really friendly and keen to help. There is a wheelchair lift to the left of the entrance to get up those impressive steps at the front. Once up to ground level, inside was easily accessible. Very impressed by the set-up. We will return.

A stunning venue, beautiful decorated with character and luxury. Staff were very friendly, but there were a lot at times hanging around. Food was nice, especially the Scottish breakfast. Worth a try for a hot drink & brunch.

Came back after 10 years. Now had to wait in a very long cue, which I guess is a good thing. Just went for a coffee and was sat at the bar. Beautifully decorated. Absolutely stunning just like it was 10 years ago, if not better. Ou order was taken quickly but the coffees took absolutely ages to arrive. After asking 4 different members of staff we eventually found a very helpful person that went to pick up our drinks. Coffee looked atrocious, just like those from a petrol station where all you do is press a button. Disappointed as I wanted to show this place to our friends and it literally left a bad taste in our mouths. Perhaps we weren't lucky that day

This is a must visit if you are in Edinburgh. Good food in a pleasant setting and believe it or not the prices here are normal. Here you no longer pay for the beautiful frame, but the price/quality ratio is perfectly balanced. When we are next in Edinburgh we will definitely come back here.

What a place. Food, environment, vibes... All on point. Will be back!

Went here for a drink last year. The whole place was devoid of any sort of atmosphere. Every member of staff walked around with a face looking like they'd rather be cleaning the mankiest toilet in Scotland with nothing but a toothbrush - anything other than working there. It was like being in a posh looking Wetherspoons but with fewer alkies. And all the worse for it. Incredibly bonnie building though.

Beautiful place for dinner as a couple. It's not cheap, but it's worth it for a memorable dinner. I was really looking forward to a soup and they didn't leave me disappointed.

While the atmosphere and service at the restaurant are excellent, the food leaves much to be desired. The starters are very basic and lack creativity. Unfortunately, the main courses arrived cold, which was quite disappointing. The overall quality of the dishes was underwhelming, and the desserts were quite average, lacking any special touch. Overall, it didn’t live up to the expectations.

The food was so bad but the service was good, the atmosphere was good. The food was so bad even my homemade burgers taste better, and the soup was bland it doesn’t have any taste

Our experience at The Dome was absolutely superb. We had Christmas Eve dinner here and what an experience! The food and drinks were fabulous, and the decorations were incredible. If you're looking for a really fun experience for the holidays, this is the place, worth every penny! Fantastic service as well. Edward

Stunning building and the service is very good. The food we have was okay. Nothing special though. My Guinness was terrible as well.

We were suprised how good the food and service was here. We had the lunch 3 course meal and left full and happy. My wife had a glass of Rose wine and it was superb too. No complaints and reasonably priced

Elegant atmosphere, impeccable service

We had a lovely afternoon tea here at The Dome today. Booked at short notice yesterday. The atmosphere was lovely and the building itself is beautiful. The food was beautifully presented and tasted lovely, we both had the vegetarian option. It was a birthday surprise for a friend and I’d put this on the reservation form so when the food came out there was a “happy birthday” chocolate and a candle on one of the cakes. Staff were absolutely lovely and couldn’t have been more friendly or helpful. We both agree that we would definitely recommend The Dome and will most certainly go back again.

To relax in this beautiful space and be served excellent food and wine is a privilege.

We arrived for a drink and were told they were clearing a table for us - while they were doing that another group just walked in and sat down at the table - rather than tell them the table was reserved they just shrugged at us and said too bad. The manager was equally ineffectual. Don’t bother - pretty venue but can’t execute on the aesthetic.

Queued outside to get in to only find out that unless you pre-booked a meal you are prevented from even viewing the dome and can only get shuffled into an enclosed side bar. Would not have bothered queueing if this was explained by the doormen or signed.
