Nice wee pub in the centre of Edinburgh. There are some small basement rooms for private parties too.

Off the usual tourist circuit, it is a very typical and pleasant Scottish pub, with a mostly Scottish audience, a sign that the food is good and at a reasonable price (and so we were able to actually see it). Abundant and rich dishes. You have to order and prepay at the bar and they bring it to your table. I recommend the 'Mixed grill' and the 'Balmoral chicken'.

I had lunch here on a spur of the moment suggestion to meet my wife there. The staff on duty were welcoming and friendly, I was served quickly. Our meals were served quickly, were delicious and good value. I will definitely be going back

My best mate, my girlfriend and I visited on Tuesday 27th Feb.The service from all staff on shift between 8-12 was excellent. Elliot was absolutely exceptional. As a manager of a retail store his customer service was absolutely flawless. He is an absute credit to the bar!

Amazing pub, great selection of beer and lots of TVs for sport . Tasha and Elliott were great behind the bar and gave amazing recommendations for the city.

Found this cute pub by a kind locals recommendation. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, dinner very pleasing, service was immediate with lovely waiters, Elliot made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived, thanks to Marcy as well.

Came across the Amber Rose this weekend. Lively pub, great vibes! Especially liked the live music on Friday. Was served by Georgina who made us feel very welcome! Highly recommend.

Always a great place we love to go for food and drinks, we feel you get what you pay for and a decent amount of food per portion and great quality, drinks are reasonably priced too. Always busy, so we always book a table in advance

we had dinner at the Amber Rose, and we looked after by Elliot who made some wonderful suggestions from the food menu and from the whiskey menu. We were very impressed with his knowledge and his friendliness all in all. We had a wonderful evening. Thank you very much Elliot.

Great pub, brilliant staff, we had a bottle of wine & haggis neeps & tatties. Was really nice, just what we needed before we headed of to see Elvis at the usher hall.

It's a fairly generic pub. The plus points are that there's plenty of space and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Nice pub, staff are always friendly. Food is good for the price that you pay. Only complaint is a lot of the time it's quite cool and you have to keep your coat on to stay warm.

My friend and I go to the Amber Rose every couple of months for a catch up and a few drinks. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is awesome and we have met some great people there from around the globe. Would definitely recommend a visit.

The Aussie/NZ barman wasn't listening to a word we were saying. Missed items of our order and just kept walking away when serving. Had to put our transaction through multiple times due to this.

Serving “food” of such quality is not only an insult to customers but a total disgrace. The chicken was falling apart and tasted like motor oil. I couldn’t finish it.

Another bar that does not have bar stools......I am trying to understand why it seems like not many bars have seats at the bar anymore? A huge reason to go to a bar is to meet new people and talk to new people. Why does there not seem to be bar stools in bars? It makes no sense. Covid has been gone for over year now. Whenever I see a bar that does not have seats at the bar I have no desire to go in. I would love an explanation. Again a huge reason to go to a bar is to meet people. Deff a lot easier meeting people sitting at a bar striking up a conversation then going over to a table. Makes no sense. Can someone please explain this to me?

Great pub with a classic pub menu

This has got to be one of the worst meals I have ever had. Ordered Sunday lunch and it was basically a microwave meal. The mash was dry, the roast potatoes rock solid from being reheated, the veg was dry and the gravy was like water. The meat was cheap, the only saving grace was the Yorkshire pudding which was definitely a frozen oven bake one. £15pp for this is a disgrace. Really disappointed.

Had breakfast here with a friend It was a Scottish breakfast it was cooked to perfection. The staff were friendly the service top notch and for the centre of Edinburgh very reasonably priced indeed I had my dogs with me and the staff were kind to them all in all a totally enjoyable experience I will be back tomorrow evening for the quiz night hopefully a winning debut for our team

Great pub. My grandson wanted to watch the rugby, so we booked a week or so before we went to Edinburgh for the weekend , which turned out to be a great decision as it was packed. Great atmosphere food looked great, but we had already eaten. i would have given it 5 stars, but they did not have any 0%Gin not everyone can drink alcohol for different ie medical reasons but like to feel like they are having a drink instead i was reduced to J2O .

I have no clue about either food nor drinks. We sat there for 15 mins without a single word from the staff. They'd rather clear tables than serve people...

Food ok but cold chicken was nothing like said on menu had Hunters chicken peas stone cold chicken dry only tine bite of bacon.

Food was excellent, so good that we came back the next night for more!! Good prices considering this is the centre of Edinburgh very friendly staff, we will definitely be back next time we are in Edinburgh.

What a lovely pub- great food, used to be one of my favourites- ruined by TV volume that made my ears bleed and even set the alarm on my watch off to say it was damaging volumes! Not a single person watching the tv- have it on by all means but no need on a Saturday night to ruin the atmosphere an deafen everyone. I watched loads of people walk in an leave due to the volume- crazy idea.

The food was delightful and the service was impeccable! The lovely Brendan served us at the bar and was very polite and chatty. Couldn’t recommend the young lad enough!

Great find, lovely atmosphere, food was great, prices very reasonable, clean. The management and staff clearly value the service they provide! Highly recommended! Dog friendly with treats and water available. Plenty of TV screens for major events but maintains a friendly environment with spaced out tables and seating.

Lovely city centre pub - to sit inside Ona rainy day. Had the wings basket and a pint lovely!

Staff are nice and the food is good. Stuff on tap lacking excellent quality beer and cider (eg. Stewarts Brewing), but there's enough to keep me mostly content, though yearning. They'll put on any sporting event you're after, which I really appreciate as a fan of the obscure. The music is quite irritating and evocative of an overarching parent company trying to pander.
