Amber Rose in Edinburgh, City of

Came in last night and was a great atmosphere with the live music, got some great food and drinks were quick and tasty. Will definitely be back!

Popped in for drinks with friends and had a really great night. We were looked after by Corey who sourced us a table and chairs on a busy night, and remembered our order when we came to the bar for a second round.

Great food (is someone new operating the microwave?) great atmosphere and great pints, Charlotte who served me recommended an inchs cider, i dont drink cider but tried one anyway. Good pub

Stopped in for lunch on our trip to the city last week, the food was good but the service is what really made our day! All staff seemed knowledgeable and helpful, but the young lady Charlotte is the epitomy of service with a smile, calm during the lunch rush and made the effort to check in and ensure everything was to our liking. She also dealt with a few difficult customers very professionally and what a great surprise to find out she is a fellow Boltonian! Thank you for a lovely experience!

Me and my boyfriend were visiting this beautiful city for the first time and popped in for a few drinks. And what a great idea it was, the staff that we were welcomed by could not have done more for us. The lovely young lady that served us our drinks, I believe she was called Charlotte, was so helpful and gave us recommendations for any drinks and food that we might like, and was even giving us some advice on what to do on our trip. The place was lovely, and we would be back in a heart beat if we visited again. All in all, we had a wonderful experience.

The food was good. The staff could be more friendly and welcoming.

We booked one of the small rooms for a leaving party and had a very good time, the food was delicious and the service was great!

We went to the Amber Rose today for drinks and it was perfect! Loved the atmosphere and our server Matt was lovely!!

Just had the most incredible experience in the amber rose. Came in with friends for drinks and food while watching the game. The service was very fast and the food was incredible. Looking forward to coming back next weekend. My favourite spot in edinburgh and one of the cheapest on rose street.

Terrible Sunday roast and service. I don’t usually like to complain; however, on this occasion I believe I am justified. We did have a positive experience the day before (breakfast) so our group of eight decided to return for the Sunday roast that is advertised. We were extremely disappointed with the food. As we went to the bar to order our meals, the woman working there made us feel like an inconvenience and her attitude was horrendous. She had no customer service skills what so ever and was rude. Her attitude was as if she was rushed off her feet but the place was dead as we arrived around 1pm. Now we know why it was so empty. Some of us wanted the 3 roast option - we were told that there was no beef. When we asked if we could just have the two (pork + turkey ) she aggressively told us no. I ordered no peas … when it arrived with peas I was told they couldn’t separate the veg as it was already mixed (this would have been fine but was not communicated at the till). When the meals came out they were wrong, pork arrived with no crackling, some came with gravy and some without. A turkey dish was delayed because the wrong meat was put on the plate - this took ages to be resolved and then arrived with no stuffing. When asked where the stuffing was our server went back to the kitchen and about 15 mins later arrived with two, small burned hockey puck looking stuffing disks that I wouldn’t feed to a dog. The menu advertised unlimited Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes, so we asked for more which arrived after we had all finished eating. The whole meal was a shambles with no apology from the staff. I can see that there is another bad review on here about the Sunday roast that was posted about 3 months ago ! I’m surprised nothing has been done to fix this as the pub itself has so much potential.

Staff are lovely.Service was excellent today Leah got our drinks for us and was so kind. It also has a great atmosphere in the pub overall.

It's 9pm and you still serve half price cocktails. Get that foockin coffee machine back on!

Great meal here on Thursday and dog friendly too. The only thing I will mention is that you have to go down some stairs to get in, so if you have mobility issues it will be tricky and if you have a stroller (dog or child) then go in around the corner from the Main Street because there are less stairs there. Good food, fast service and a nice atmosphere.

Drinks were okay, food is significantly underwhelming, website displaying food is not accurate. They advertise 50% off cocktails and pairings all day and every day, but they over price drinks so that it offsets their price. Ya I got suckered by all the signs of discounted drinks and low priced food. But literally got less then what I paid for in food, and realized the scheme on drinks upon entry. I think McDonald's is making an equivalent burger, but for cheaper. Also as the locals would say, their internet is rubbish. Signed: A Hungry Canadian.

Of you want to watch scottish football on a Wednesday night in a Scottish bar don't go the amber rose As me and my friends found out last night. English football has priority.

Poor service. Only ordered very simple nachos and 3 drinks - got it wrong 3 times and the nachos were terrible Not much choice on menu I think it was probably a pub for sports tv as there were screens on every wall , which is fine. Spaces were comfortable to sit. Came out and turned a corner and saw places that we probably would have preferred. However the nachos were awful and overpriced.

Service in here you won't get better. The food was excellent and delicious the chef,or cook needs a bonus. The only reason I gave 4 stars for atmosphere was because when we were in it was quiet. But we were told there is entertainment on at weekends so will definitely be back for food drinks and entertainment.

Pub en sí era muy pintoresco, y limpio. Muy bien decorado por dentro, y un montón de pantallas de televisión. Buena selección de bebidas y servicio era bueno. No probé la comida ya que dejaron de servir comida temprano, pero volvería e intentaría de nuevo.

Very disappointed with the food 😕. Firstly ordered baked potatoes but had no potatoes then asked for a baguette but had no baguettes! Found this quite remarkable. Also, didn't have any Guinness but did understand the reasons for this. The food we got was extremely basic and therefore overpriced - particularly the Katsu curry. Would definitely NOT recommend this establishment for somewhere to eat. We do like this pub too but our recent experience has put us off. 😞

Great traditional pub with great drinks and atmosphere warm and friendly

Came in for a full scottish breakfast and quick coffee before my train up to Aberdeen, came quick and hot, filled me up for the journey north. The staff were very attentive with my drinks and food, hope to be back later for the boxing as atmosphere was good and plenty of tvs!

Really, really disappointing. Most of our group ordered the Sunday roast, which turned out to be a terrible choice, because all of the vegetables were just cheap frozen packs of carrot that they'd blitzed in the microwave. They also ran out of Yorkshire puddings but didn't tell anyone, meaning that half the group got them and the other half didn't. There was no communication from the staff about this at all. The mashed potato tasted like flour, and the meat wasn't great either. I ordered the English breakfast and was similarly disappointed. The egg was just rubber; incredibly overcooked and unpleasant. The bacon was chewy, and the potato scone had literally no flavour. To top it all off, our food took over an hour to arrive, despite the place being almost empty and most of our food having been cooked in a microwave. We wanted to introduce our friends to the British roast dinner, and honestly they probably have post roast trauma now. Such a poor experience overall, and really disappointing given the other great reviews.

HORRIBLE FOOD. i can warm up frozen food better than them. the unlimited yorkshire pudding ran out… and overall just tasted horrid.

The sunday roast was the worst i've ever tasted. The mashed potatoes, roast carrots and potatoes tasted like packaged frozen food. I'd rather have bought cold cuts from the store than eat another bite of the hand carved beef. We only liked the yorkshire. pudding... and they ran out. The food took forever to arrive which is so confusing because nothing tastes like it was cooked in that kitchen.

Having visited numerous pubs and bars in Edinburgh during our visit. This is by far the best. Even the toilets were spotless. Will definately come back next time I'm in the city.

Little pricey can't lie £6.25 for a pint of Innis and Gunn and £4 for a cranberry juice a bit too much but can't expect less on the main part of the city. But highly recommended if you wanna watch football for sure.

Went to the Amber for a couple of drinks with my friends and it was lovely. A employee called Gav suggested we tried Tennants with lime cordial- what a great suggestion! 10/10 for Gav. Can’t wait to be back and do the pub quiz.

Had a great time at amber rose last weekend with the gals, such a lovely pub, great atmosphere, but what stood out most was the very handsome, charming bar guy, think he’s called Gavin, he really made our whole experience so enjoyable, and we will definitely be back!

Came in a good few times throughout the summer, great location for watch the euros. Not only do they have a massive selection of drink but they also have a huge menu. Even to the point I was spoilt for choice and had to ask one of the employees for advice. A lovely young man by the name of Gavin suggested the crazy chicken burger and it was delightful. Fabulous staff and a lovely atmosphere!!!! Will be back soon!

A decent pub which has sports broadcast and live music on certain days of the week. Location is convenient for a couple of drinks when other places are full.

An "ok" pub. Servers were not very friendly or helpful - a small example: they didn't know what the "soup of the day" was. Tables and floor were 'sticky' from food/drinks residue and obviously not thoroughly cleaned. Mens' washroom not clean. We won't be repeat customers.

Me and my fiancé had a wonderful evening last weekend when we came in for a meal and drinks, the atmosphere was fantastic and the staff were brilliant! More specifically the young man Charlie was brilliant and was the highlight of our night! Pretty sure he was a manger and rightly so! We will be returning and we look forward to it :)

Quiet for lunch (which suited). Steak & chips, beef chilli. Competent and reasonably priced.

The atmosphere was amazing. Me and my friends were up in edinburgh for a week for the fringe and Matt served us the whole night, his accent and charisma charmed us. He was excellent, so attentive, all our needs were made - excellent bartender.
