The best restaurants serving British food in Angus Central Scotland

This man is just the highlight if the train station in arbroath. Best service in town and he is there in all coldness also. his coffee is the best. I love the Americano but have had the latte and cappuccino too and equally as good. Have to get a coffee each time I get the train and he's there!

Popped up in for soup and a sandwich after a trip to St Cyrus beach. Wish we'd discovered this gem sooner! Love the old railway and the cafe itself is full of character. Loved the warm welcome, friendly quick service, good food and wander around the station afterwards. Thank you!

A really friendly place that shows what can be achieved when a community pulls together to save a pub at it’s heart. Great selection of Gins and really great music events.

We arrived back from a tiring day out,and we were hungry.A quick glance down the High street,and we came upon this oasos.After ordering two fish and chip light bites,we say in and enjoyed.One thing for sure,don't order the full meal,because it is too much.We feasted on the light bites.

Excellent cafe. 2 Coffees and 2 bacon rolls for just over £8. The coffees and rolls were great quality. Well worth a visit if the need arises.

12 years on since our first visit and I can still claim with ease that this is the best food I've ever eaten, and certainly not through a lack of indulgence.

Really good for a Friday lunch !

Visited for coffee and cake and it was a great experience, the coffee was lovely and hot and the cake was delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful and it was great value for money.

Great cozy pub for a snack and pint

Pasé aquí para almorzar el sábado por la tarde. Pasamos dos veces por delante, ya que se apartó de la carretera y perdimos la señal afuera. El personal era amable y servicial. Pedí el salmón de los especiales y mi marido les pidió bistec y pastel de cerveza. Ambos estaban deliciosos y muy buenas porciones.

On a cold day we chose the restaurant to accommodate elderly diners thinking it would have a little more room than the bar - it did - we were the only people in it while a number of people seemed to come and go to the bar area where food is served. Our only real issue was that the large space was only just adequately heated although we were all less aware of this once the food arrived. There was a longish wait between ordering and serving but it was well worth it as the food was beautifully prepared, thoughtfully served and very good. The menu is quite extensive and interesting. Staff were pleasant but not over-fussy.

My partner and I recently visited The Rookery in Carnoustie for a Valentine's meal, and while the first impressions were lovely, the overall experience fell short. The ambience was charming, with a solo guitar player adding a relaxing touch to the evening, which we truly appreciated. We began with the meat and cheese selection, which was beautiful - a great sharing platter that we both enjoyed. However, things took a turn when, about 10 minutes into our meal, the waitress asked if we were finished, even though it was clear we were still eating. Shortly after, she came back to inform us that we needed to order our mains soon, as the kitchen would be closing. It was only 8 pm, and other diners were still arriving, so we felt incredibly rushed, which really affected our experience. When our mains arrived, unfor, and the meat itself was dry. My pork belly, which looked promising, was disappointing; it wasn't crispy on top and was overly fatty. Given the rushed atmosphere and the poor quality of the food, I'm afraid I won't be returning. It's a shame because the setting had potential, but the service and food let us down. Unfortunately, the quality didn't match the expectation, the chicken on the risotto was awful - soggy with burnt areas underneath , and the meat itself was dry. Yet again Armstrong’s did themselves proud, my wife and I went for lunch on Hogmanay, 2 x Steak Pie followed by Blueberry Crumble. Absolutely superb, great food and service. We have visited Armstrong’s many times and always have a great meal, I would certainly recommend giving Armstrong’s a try when in the area as you will not be disappointed.

Great, understated restaurant. The soup was a very generous portion and very tasty. Also lived the lemon and blueberry sponge.
