A really friendly place that shows what can be achieved when a community pulls together to save a pub at it’s heart. Great selection of Gins and really great music events.

Gin tasting night with the mums, as a newbie to Gin this was pefect for me to try out different gins with help from the extensive knowledge of the staff behind the bar. Great nibbles served with the gin and a very nice friendly. Atmosphere to spend with good company.

Fine wee family style pub. Just for a pint or to grab a bite. Music some evenings too, generally locally advertised. Friendly welcome.

Massive portions, lovely attentive down to earth staff, tasty home cooked food and a varied drinks menu. They also let dogs in! That scores a bonus point! Lovely wee place, plan on becoming a regular 😀

It was recommended by my parents friend so we popped in when we got a chance of a babysitter. Lovely friendly staff, food was great and we will be back.

This is a social enterprise establishment with profits going to local causes. It serves excellent food served by friendly staff. The range of gins behind the bar has to be seen .....and tasted if you're not driving.

The staff are very welcoming and the food is all homemade and very good. My only criticism would be that they need someone else in the kitchen to help out because there is a bit of a wait between courses, although it is worth the wait and the food could be a little hotter

Great meal! Staff were friendly and the food was VERY reasonably priced. Most meals were available in a small and large serving size - I had the small serve of chicken goujons but still struggled to fit in dessert! My husband had the chicken and black pudding stack which had a fabulous peppercorn sauce. The chocolate cake is a must - incredibly fluffy and moist. Really good value meals in a relaxed environment.

Had lunch with some family today. The food was cooked from fresh and was absolutely delicious. There are two portion sizes on offer on most of the extensive menu. Very friendly staff. I will definitely be visiting again. There are also live bands and is worth checking out. Close to Camera Obscura and Kirrie Hill so you can make a day of it.

Reading all the review I was really looking forward to our visit here. The staff were friendly and the place clean and tidy. I wanted a hot quiche but was told there would be a 20 minute wait so we both had cock-a-leekie soup . There was chicken and bit of leek but this was a very thin plate of soup with no real substance the ratio of stock to the other ingredients was poor. I was also upset by the fact that they allow dogs in the cafe. There was one sitting with it's owner in the corner and it whined all the time we were there . The owner did not seem to be bothered by this .

On a holiday to Montrose and we sat in and ordered a fish supper, tasted lovely all freshly made. The best we have had in a long time. Would highly recommend the meal. Kai told us he is changing the name to Montrose fish and chips so look out for it on the High Street.

didnt stay at the rooms, dined in the restaurant. Small but very well decorated place - loved the bathrooms too. Tasting menu is absolutely amazing - the cauliflower veloute was the surprise standout of the evening. Haggis bon bons were also delicious! As was the salmon course. Everything was delicious! Great service too - Maria was a great host. Loved the little touch of leaving the tasting menu near your table so you could follow it. Hope to be back next time we are up in Scotland.
