The best restaurants serving British food in Central Scotland

Booked 2 nights stay at this hotel for my partners birthday treat so we could explore the surrounding area. Arrived around 5pm after a long drive and was pleasantly surprised by how big the place was and how nice it looked at night, with the outside lights/veranda lit up. As soon as we got inside, the service and welcome that we received was lovely. After a quick tour of the room we headed downstairs for dinner, where again the service was great and the food was surprising for such a small hotel - it was amazing. Add to this that the chef quickly came out with homemade fresh out of the oven bread rolls....the smell was brilliant. The guy that looked after the front of house/served us breakfast was very good and very professional. Overall, our stay exceeded expectations and to top it off, it was dog friendly and had a lovely wee kids park in the garden. The only negative for me is that the bathroom radiator didn't work, so it was a little chilly - but things break, and I won't hold it against the hotel as these things happen and everything else in our room was lovely. Will return next year

We were staying in the village for a week and ate at The Ardentinny on three evenings, and had excellent meals each time. Well presented and good sized portions. The menu is fairly small, but well varied, with an obvious use of local products where possible. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, and it is dog friendly. (Just check their opening hours during the off season) Highly recommended !

Great hotel in a remote location that is Campbeltown. Can’t fault it. Rooms clean,modern and tidy. Food was excellent, it all felt homemade and fresh. Would recommend! Staff really friendly and helpful too.

Hadn't been for a while and it was really nice. A couple of things though, they only had sour dough bread and no other options(not a fan of the sourdough) also we had soup and a wrap and it came with chips. Enjoyed it but a lesser option of just soup and wrap would of been nice.

We popped in here for some cake on the way back from Glenfinnan. The cakes looked delicious - and my daughter devoured my partner's raspberry scone, even though she said she didn't want any! At first I though there would be no vegan option for me. I'm not vegan but I am allergic to dairy and eggs. But the team were so helpful with the chef triple checking the ingredients on two options. I'm so pleased when you get service like this. Picked up a vegan cook book while I was there.

Plato de pescado de mercado sobreprecio. Servido con una patata bebé en rodajas ( realmente esperando al menos 4 - 5 patatas bebé para ser justo ) y algunos guisantes en una salsa. No muy lleno. La trucha de mar era sabrosa, pero los logros fueron muy escasos. Ambiente agradable y agradable para el personal, pero caro

Excelente almuerzo de aniversario. Todos los platos eran deliciosos, amable y atento personal y buena relación calidad-precio de la comida. Burrata, gambas de chile para empezar, seguido de pescado de mercado (merluza - delicioso) y salsa de salmón y langosta pasta. Helado de afgota y menta y bollo choux de chocolate para terminar.

Sunny Saturday afternoon - dog walk on Carsaig beach. Went to the coffee shop for a coffee - once in we fancied a bacon roll - can't go wrong - right?. To be fair there were a number of customers ordering toasties etc. They did say "we are very busy and it might take a while" What does that mean?" "ten minutes probably" Well sitting in the sunshine and looking out over the boats coming and going is no hardship. After half an hour we got a bit impatient and were assured that they are just almost there! So, after 40 minutes we were delivered two dry rolls with crispy bacon which falls apart under pressure. Dry as a bone inside and greasy outside? That's quite a trick! My labrador enjoyed it anyway. Why are we so hopeless at hospitality in Scotland?

Normally come here and enjoy it but come in a few weeks ago and simply told ‘no tables’ and walked away from by a lady with long blonde hair at the cash desk!

Cooked Fresh and crispy very tasty

Had nice lunch at Franco's in Carnoustie. Lovely food and excellent customer service by the amazing Paula, who was extremely pleasant and looked after us ensuring that we had an enjoyable experience. Definitely looking forward to going back next time we are in Carnoustie 😊

Wonderful Community Run cafe. Brilliant atmosphere and Customer service. Many other businesses could take lessons from here. Food was delicious and quickly prepared despite the busyness of the cafe.

Lovely food and good service. My husband had the sea bass and I had a fabulous meal of duck. We both indulged in the lime and lemon cheesecake. Everything was great quality.

Excellent place for lunch, great choices of gluten free food. Staff are very helpful and take time to explain how food is prepared. We will definitely visit this cafe again 🙂 Cafe also have gluten free cakes.
