I ordered 2 afternoon teas to takeaway - 1 of which was gluten free. And as always the boxes were overflowing with goodies. I would highly recommend (and only £23.90 altogether)

Good food, reasonably quick service at a busy lunchtime. Portions not massive but adequate. We stopped here on our round trip cycle from Broughty Ferry to Arbroath and back again. Got to sit outside in the sunshine.

Called in for breakfast very clean great staff and fantastic Scottish breakfast also great selection of savouries and sandwiches will be our 1st choice when in Carnoustie in future

Omg amazing cheesecake is the best ever, we came in tight to closing time but were sat no problems staff very friendly and polite we accepted challenge of not needing takeaway box and finished our cheesecake left very full but was too good to leave Orange Areo and Fudge flavour we had thanks ladies

My Mum ( who is almost 80) and I costed on a Saturday afternoon, in the hope of having some soup and a sandwich. You have to wait at the front, until a member of staff comes to seat you. A young member of staff came within a minute or so and offered a table ( though I was struck immediately by her nonchalance and generally unwelcoming ( bordering on hostile) vibe. We sat down and looked over the menus. We waited and waited for someone to come to us. The cafe was perhaps two thirds full. One member of staff seemed to be spending a lot of time with one particular table. After around 15 mins or so, I said to my Mum, let’s give it 5 more minutes to give them a chance to acknowledge us. But they didn’t. I left with my Mum and went instead to Simpsons cafe which was absolutely lovely, from the welcome we received and the service throughout. All it takes, is for a member of staff to say to a customer, we’re very busy, but we’ll be with you as soon as we can. Instead, we were not welcomed or given any acknowledgement whatsoever. Poor, to say the least. I’ve heard the food is good here, but the food alone is not what makes a good cafe. We won’t return and I suggest you look at who you employ. Staff should show at least a modicum of welcome to customers.

This spot is great for a relaxed dinner with friends and family. Our party all opted for a pasta based dish, all of which were tasty and good value for money. The staff were all friendly and attentive to our needs. I would highly recommend visiting.

We were staying in the Carnoustie Golf Hotel, and decided to visit the town and have a coffee, we came across this wee gem of a cafe that served everything, it was really busy but the waitress found us a nice table and we decided to have breakfast as we only had coffee at the hotel, well we were not disappointed it was fantastic, now to be honest I’m a big lad even though I’ve been on a diet for a few months but decided to forget about my diet for a few days, as I said the breakfast and the service was second to none, the staff weren’t rushing around they just had it all in hand, so anyone visiting Carnoustie give Franck’s a go you won’t be disappointed

Generous & tasty breakfast rolls, lovely coffee (all really reasonably priced) and really lovely service. Couldn’t really have asked for anything more. Can’t wait to come back when we visit Carnoustie. Had eaten the rolls before remembering to take photos …but took photos of the mouthwatering looking cheesecake, cakes, & pancakes!

Received an afternoon tea as a gift for Christines birthday, it was fantastic. Was as in totally demolished!Fresh food delivered with a smile. Can highly recommend. Great to have such quality at our doorstep.

The small breakfast is good, soup and toasties too. Cheesecakes to die for with excellent coffee. Staff always friendly and helpful.

Cant say much more good coffee a fantastic selection of scones,cakes,traybakes and they do a really good full scottish breakfast,all cooked fresh,treat yourself.

This was our first trip to Carnoustie and found this lovely wee cafe for lunch. I phoned to check if we need to book (Monday) and was told you don't need to but it's advisable so we got a table for just after the time we had asked. The cafe was almost full so this gives an indication of it's popularity. We only have a light lunch so we had toasties and wraps - both with salad on the side and very enjoyable.

A warm welcome. Food was beautifully served and coffee was lovely, a free refill was offered too. Thought the prices were very reasonable. Would recommend.

Contacted Franco's (on recommendation of Carnoustie Golf Hotel) .They made a delicious biscoff cheesecake for my husband's 70th birthday whilst staying at the hotel which was served as dessert.would highly recommend.

Visited with my Mum and Sister and had an Omelette for breakfast. Food was delicious, the service was excellent and all consideration was taken to keep everyone safe from COVID.

Great lunch at Francos. Toasted sandwiches with homemade soup, followed by carrot cake and lemon cake. The lemon cake is worth going just for that. Great Italian coffee too.

Popped in to try the big breakfast. All COVID precautions were taken seriously yet the staff could not be more friendly or welcoming. We were seated and had a great choice of items from the menu. We had the breakfasts which were delicious and they even accommodated my poached eggs request. Lovely little restaurant for anytime of day with great staff and customer service. Would recommend.

Excellent staff, great food with generous portions. Drinks are good also. Have to say the cakes etc are worth eating.

Agree with Chriscross95 review - the service here could do with a training-course on how to treat paying customers!! The staff obviously didn't give a damn - bordering on rudeness. Food was passable but very basic. Only positive i can find to say was their cakes looked good! (but we didn't want to stay and sample them due to the service) We were also made to feel we were an inconvenience to the waitress, who obviously hates her job!

I visited Francos during a day trip to Carnoustie. I chose this placed based on the previous good reviews as I do not know the area very well. However, I am disappointed to say that my visit here was less than satisfactory. The cafe was very busy and having worked in restaurants for several years, I understand that a busy environment can be very stressful for the waitresses. However, the attitude from our particular waitress was truly abysmal. She basically ignored us, did not explain anything on the menu to us, and when we asked her a question about the food her reply was blunt and impolite. As soon as I finished the last bite of my meal our plates were instantly taken away and we were made to feel very uncomfortable, as if she wanted us to leave as soon as possible. I do not feel that this is the correct way to treat customers and I was very disappointed as I was expecting brilliant things from this cafe in Carnoustie.

My recent visit to Franco's cafe last week left quite literally a bad taste in my mouth. The food I ordered was of very poor quality, greasy and not what I ordered. I wouldn't normally leave a bad review especially towards a small business but the rudeness of the staff combined with the terrible food made me feel I just had to.

Great little cafe, always made to feel welcome and pizza on a Friday is a must have, highly recommend

came here for lunch on thursday this week and was able to get a table with it being quiet both of us had the same main which was very nice we both had a slice of the mint areo cheesecake wife took hers as a takeaway and both agreed it wasn't up to Janet's usual standard but overall would certainly be back

Came here today for the first time and I really liked the cheesecake as it was something different. Will decently be visiting this place in the future.

Visited with my young grandson and was very disappointed to see they provide plastic straws with cold drinks. Single use plastic is uneccessary nowadays and businesses should step up to the plate and provide alternatives.

Been here a few times. Always a great place. Nice food and the food is always fresh. Cakes are huge. Limited parking.

I was in with my grandchildren for pizza/pasta night. We all had pizza which was delicious. We somehow made room for pudding!!

We were lucky to win one of Janet's amazing cheesecakes, White Chocolate and Raspberry, which we had today as part of a family dinner. It was a triumph, to say the least. Portions went home with guests to be enjoyed tomorrow. Thank you so much. See you soon.

This was our second visit, returned as it was so good last time and it didn't disappoint. Lovely home cooked food at very reasonable prices. Quite an extensive menu served all day. Beautiful cakes all served in clean, nice surroundings.

The food was amazing...fish and chips is fresh and so nice...the chicken goujons are amazing....we have been a couple of times and it has not disappoint. Will continue to go as everything is fresh and tasty.

Fairly regular visitors to Franco’s for breakfast and lunch but first time I’ve written a review. Can’t fault the food or the portion sizes and would recommend if you want a hearty breakfast or lunch. Staff are always pleasant and service is good.

My friend and I visited Franco’s cafe for lunch. It’s friendly and usually quite busy, a good sign in our small town. The menu is quite extensive, the cakes look delicious and the staff friendly and accommodating.

This is the second time we visited this restaurant and it does not disapoint the omelette is to die for so light, the cheesecake which is home made was huge and so tasty, now we have moved up here we shall be visiting again

Needed to find a place for breakfast after long travel and were recommended by friends to Franco's. Breakfast was very good with plenty of selection. Had the full Scottish Breakfast - eggs, bacon, sausage, black pudding, fried tomato, baked-beans and fried bread. A huge sustaining meal, though not bordering on the side of being healthy.

Had lunch with a friend recently. The food was good and likewise the service was equally as good. Not the most appealing interior.....a bit tired and dated. Okay for a quick coffe and sandwich.

Very impressed with quality, value for money and service. A table of six was served at the same time with good quality food. First time there and will go back when next in the area.

Well priced, good choices and tasty food. The interior is a bit dated and the whole place could do with a good clean, don't look under the placemats! Overall we would go back here to eat.

Had Sunday breakfast here recently. Service was good and breakfast was superb! Refill coffee meant we had a cup while waiting for food and another with the meal.

Chicken Tikka toastie delicious and excellent value for money, with chips coleslaw and salad at less than £4. To top it all off one of the best fruit scones we’ve ever had!

My wife and I visited here for a wee cuppa and I saw a lovely malteser cheesecake amongst the many cakes and tray bakes. I ordered this and the portion was very large indeed well worth the money I paid for it. All I can say was it was delicious but there was no way one could have two portions.

I go to Franco's cafe alot, mainly because it's so dam good. The food is really nice, but that is practically a side to the main reason to go to Franco's, which is the milkshakes. Now, these aren't any ordinary milkshakes. I don't know how they do it, but they're the best tasting milkshakes I've ever had in my life. Every cafe across Scotland that I've been to that sells milkshakes I get, and none of them have had the same orgy of flavours in my mouth as the Franco's one's do.

Having been before for breakfast I took my daughter for lunch it was amazing I had the chilli nachos they are the best I have ever tasted and I will be back for them again. The only disappointing thing was I was so full after them I could not manage a cake

My mum and I wanted an early lunch and decided to pop in to this lovely little café on the main street of Carnoustie. A very clean shop. Staff were very pleasant, friendly and helpful. We both ordered the Steak pie. Oh my goodness ... it was delicious. A huge plate full and it came with chips and peas. It was a lovely visit and we most definitely will be back!

Booked a table for the mother's day high tea menu..My hubby and I have been a few times and they never disappoint.Today was no different,food was excellent and just the right amount,service very efficient and we had enough delicious cakes to feed the whole street..We all (4 of us) took cakes & scones home with us.Superb value for money at £11.95 a head, I think the cakes and coffee would have a cost that much alone elsewhere.Would highly recommend .Easy brownie points made thanks.

Popped in here late on a Friday just before it closed, so as you would expect it was not busy so there was not much atmosphere. The decor and furnishings were ok, but this is not really the place to go if you are looking for a trendy French style cafe. This is more functional.Service was pleasant and the coffee was very good. There was also a fine selection of cakes and goodies. We were obliged to try some in the interests of research, and they did not disappoint.Overall, to be commended for its coffee and cakes, and it certainly does the job at a fair price.

I have lived in the area for nearly 2 years and only just realised that Francos is open on a Sunday! I was delighted!!Ordered food to takeaway, didn't have to wait too long, food was piping hot and for the amount of food we received for the price was very reasonable!! The cafe was busy, every table taken and great to see that for a local business especially on a Sunday. Although I didn't have one, the cakes including cheesecakes looked great, I will definitely be back soon for a slice.

Stopped in for a coffee and hot breakfast roll whilst staying in Carnoustie overnight. The food was well cooked, served piping hot and the prices are reasonable. Staff were very friendly. The cafe was very busy with locals,which is always a good sign. Well worth a try.

Franco's has always been a lovely friendly cafe with a relaxed busy atmosphere. Although they don't have actual gluten free options food is made on site and they can adapt dishes. Highlights for me are the free coffee refills and today's fabulous gluten free mint Aero cheesecake

Called in to Franco's today for the first time, but, definitely not the last. I ordered a coffee and a freshly baked scone, and no joking it was the best scone I've had in a very long time. Staff very friendly and efficient.

Very busy wee cafe, had to wait for a table on Saturday mid morning. Filter coffee good & free top up is a nice offer. Bacon wasn't crispy despite requesting it. Banoffee pie was lovely. Large selection of home baking too.

I visited this cafe yesterday thurs 20th oct with my friend and both of our 2 year old daughters in strollers. Upon entering we found a seat and, granted the cafe was fairly busy, we were trying to get settled and get the kids out of their strollers and we were going to sit them on our knees and there was only a 2 seater table available, as i glanced up to the bar the waitress was pointing at us and shaking her head whilst clearly ranting about us. Then she marched over to us and said in the worst tone, that our prams were an inconvenience and that they couldnt stay there as she couldnt get past!! We would have been more than happy to have folded the prams down and put them out of the way somewhere, had she of given us the option, or the chance to even get the kids out of the prams!! Then she told us we could leave them outside. We then left since we were such an inconvenience! We definately wouldnt go back or recommend this place at all. And their staff need to get some manners on how to treat and speak to people!

I visit Carnoustie regularly and have lunched here in several occasions. The homemade soup is always good and the portions are excellent - great value for money. Staff are very friendly and chatty too - well worth a visit.

Having been treated to a lunch by my wife at this fine establishment, I was left feeling very very impressed.I had the homemade steak pie which was delicious and full of large chunks of steak.My wife had the macaroni cheese and again this was delicious.Then it was time for desert, raspberry and white chocolate cheesecake.We were expecting the usual small slice of store bought cheesecake, when it arrived we were blown away.The portion was massive, the taste was fantastic !!.The food and the friendly staff make this a place we will be visiting on a regular basis.

Service was brilliant and food arived fast we shall be returning sometime in the near future as is good value for money

We were at the Senior ,and went here for high tea the Café is clean and full of lovely home bakes. The staff are friendly and so attentive. I had home made steak pie which was delicious with a large selection of scones and cakes with a pot of tea all included in the price Would recommend you give it a try

We have been to Franco's a number of times on our visits from Australia.The food is excellent with a good range of meals and snacks and the cakes etc are especially good.Staff are friendly and helpful. Worth a visit.

Popped in for a quick bite several weeks ago. The service was first class. I have a disability in walking and the staff are genuinely helpful with this. The food is freshly cooked to order and a delight. So have been going back ever since. Probably the best testimonial a place can have - customers who keep on returning because of the excellent food, and friendly staff. Would heartily recommend Francos.

I have often stopped by for lunch. The food cannot be faulted. The coffee is good. The staff are friendly. The cafe could do with new seating and tables as the present ones are well past their sell by date !

lovely food yet again served in lovey atmosphere we both enjoyed our meal the burger was nice and thick and lasagne was the best my wife had tasted even remarked it was better than mine
