First time in here and went in for lunch the chilli nachos was sooooo tasty and macaroni cheese was the best I've had the portions are huge so they offer half portions..friendly service and nice staff..defo be back.

Great choice of food and plenty live music during the weekend.

Great pub grub, friendly service, fresh crisp beer every time. Great atmosphere with bands playing often and plenty of dart boards and maybe the best pool table in town

Came through for the day from aberdeen . Found this bar lovely atmosphere, food was amazing well worth the money. They have a pool table and the bar staff was friendly Would come back again 10/10 would recommend

Not from Scotland and went in here in 2019 was only having drink and ended up having amazing home cooked meal on a Saturday night. Went 2022 and kitchen wasn't open. Went last week and had sensational Spicy Noodles on a Saturday after the Montrose FC game. So good went back Sunday and had exceptional Steak pie. Cooking is just brilliant and the staff are incredibly helpful. Best food in Montrose.

Ate at the Vault on 30th Dec. The food was excellent and the barmaid was efficient and very friendly. It was very quiet that day considering how nice the experience was. Some local support badly needed.

The Northern Vaults Restaurant Is A Good Public Restaurant For Eating In All The Time At The Northern Vaults Public Restaurant.

Main gripe is use of plastic containers - this should be banned in pubs.

Went to see Dirty Betty playing live - nice pub, good crowd, good facilities.

Ace pub. Really spacious, gorgeous barstaff who was very knowledgeable on bonny walks and gin recommendations ☺️ x old fashioned, but warm, welcoming and a cracking selection of tipples...and best of all dog friendly 💖 x

Friend and me decided to try it as we had never been since the new owners took over. We both chose the special burgers and what a feed! the food was lovely as was the welcome we recieved.We will definitely be back.

Our friend had his 50th Birthday Party in the vaults last night and what an amazing night it was. Anne and Claire that own the vaults now gave us all a fantastic evening. Buffet was excellent and Anne made a Birthday Cake especially for him which is just the how they go the extra mile to make your evening special. Well done girls

Popped into the vaults for a quick meal(not one of our regular pubs) it was very quiet but it was a Tuesday lunch time met the new owners and had a good old natter decided on the steak pie from the menu what a perfect choice the whole meal was great and very good value only fault was to much on the plate as I hate to leave food,will be going back again might even make it a weekly outing brilliant

Just back from from the vaults after having lunch. I had the steak pie and my mother had the pork that was on the specials board, both were lovely. I don’t often have steak pie when out as can be a bit of hit or a miss but this was lovely. The pork also looked fantastic. Will be back for sure

If your looking for a meal in Montrose, don't look any further. This pub has the best an the most reasonably priced menu for miles around. Recently changed the chef and the manageress all for the better. give it a go, I'm certain you will not regret it.Very friendly bar and diner, the locals love it too.

Stayed in Montrose for 2 days and wandered the length and breadth of the town and tried all the pubs. There seems to be a local law against clear windows in pubs so most bars are small, dark and faceless (what American's would call "dive bars"). Northern Vaults was by far the best pub in town on all counts. It was larger than most, with a more airy feel and light from the back garden. The staff were incredibly friendly, and there was good music playing and plenty of space to sit or stand at the bar.The fact they do home cooked food just seals the deal - the food was all freshly cooked and tasted fantastic, with a good selection of dishes. I'm only sorry I ate at the Picture House (Wetherspoons clone) for variety, as a second meal here would be great!

Good meal , few beers and listened to the band that was playing good night had by all, good value for money meals nothing fancy but good wholesome food

Cozy and spacy. Projector for watching sport events. They have a pool table and a darts board as well. Tasty food for reasonable price.

Just like Dr who's tardis looks small from outside but huge once you get in.good choice of beers friendly staff just spot on.

Its good for watching the football as I like the drop down screen and projector. The wood style traditional feel is good and the pool table is quality. The staff are friendly. I've not eaten here, but I've heard in the past that the foods good. Though for me I wouldn't like to be eating a bar supper as people watch football. either way its still good.

This is my second review ,this time I had the Mexican burger jesee peeps it was goodSpicy and dribbling in cheese sauce.....a definite fork and knife job My husband had the chilli chees burger.... he said it was the best he had since raders in Aberdeen many years ago Well done northern vaults you have a great chef there,staff freindly and efficient Will definitely be back

So glad I poped in to the Northern Vaults on my visit to Montrose. Lovely welcome from the staff and nice relaxed atmosphere for eating. The Mac n' cheese was really suberb and although I doubted whether I could finish the huge portion it was so delicious I had too!!

First time I’d been in for a while but had a lovely lunch and the price was really good , home cooked food so worth a visit 😁

Been here a couple of times the food is fantastic, you won't be disappointed staff brilliant made you feel very welcome. We went at 6.45 we didn't know the meals were only from 5 till 7 but we still were able to order something nothing was too much trouble for staff will be back , well done to staff keep up the good work

Fantastic food, outside looks a little tired but don't be put off. Staff are friendly and food great with generous portions. 5 stars for 5 happy and full diners.

We had seen this place while passing through Montrose and decided to try it out. we had a lovely welcome from the friendly staff and enjoyed an excellent lunch thereafter. It was busy but not overly so, and I recommend it to anyone who happens to be in the area. The frontage is not too attractive but do not be put off by that. The place is a little gem.

Visited the pub last night for my husbands birthday and to watch the band. Had a meal before hand which was absolutely excellent, my husband is a big Indian fan and gordon the chef was extremely helpful and made an excellent mixed starter and a curry for him, which we pre ordered as it was a request. I myself had the chicken goujons which were also excellent. Can’t fault the service at all, fab night had by both of us! will definitely be back :)

Looking for somewhere for a family lunch in Montrose. Actually walked past here a couple of times before the wife spotted the menu posted outside. Offered traditional pub fare at a reasonable price so in we went. It wasn’t that busy and had the feel of a good old fashioned local

Fantastic place for a family meal, staff are always very polite food is amazing the 6 of us really enjoyed our meal kids plates were empty, great atmosphere will definitely be back.

Off all the pubs in Montrose this one must be on your publist if you want a good time it gets really busy here at the weekend. I have had some great times in Here.

I have never visited this pub before but was very pleasantly surprised. Was there for a party night for Christmas with 18 people. I could not fault the food at all. There were 3choices for each of the 3 courses and each was cooked beautifully. Usually for a party night, the quality of food is not good but this can't be said for this pub. Proper roast potatoes, delicious veg of parsnips and carrots, roast beef, turkey or salmon. My husband said he would drink the gravy it was so good. A live band played Sorella and they were excellent. The staff were friendly and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Would definitely go back for lunch.

I'd passed this pub many many times and never thought of going in - but was invited to a meal by a group of friends. I approached with trepidation, but when I got inside I was amazed.

I visited this pub with a friend for a meal in the evening. The staff were very welcoming and polite. There was a good selection of food available on the menu. They also have a Specials board which includes a healthy option for those counting the calories.

Staying in Montrose overnight the hotel had mixed up and we couldn't eat - so looking around we decided to pop along here.

I decided to treat myself to a visit here, if never been before and I was keen to find out what it was like and I wasn't disappointed. The good was good, I had the BBQ Chicken Burger, I will certainly be back

Have visited many times. A family favourite. To celebrate my sons birthday we brought along the grandparents who had never been before. Absolutely fantastic meal enjoyed by all, including the Grandparents who are hard to please. Fantastic Food. Outstanding service. Friendly and welcoming pub.

I have are here on many occasions and never ever had a problem, my 2 yr old nephew is allergic to dairy and eggs and the chef couldn't have been more helpful making him some food, we are fussy too, like 1/2 & 1/2 for chips and rice or no salad or can I just have this but no that!! We are a nightmare but the staff were out of this world very friendly chatty had things to keep kids entertained too food was brilliant!! Great quality for money too when I am in montrose I always stop in for food and drinks if the have a band on then its a game changer we are there till closing time amazing people, staff and food what more could you want!!

I eat here everytime im home! Absolutely love this pub and the owners!!! Friendly, professional and always smiling! All the staff are fantastic and welcoming!! Chef is amazing, I do try as much as i can and i have never had a bad meal yet! Perfectly priced for the portion sizes and they are not small!!!! The kids meals are just perfect! They have a wide selection of drinks which suits me!!! Highly recommended and wouldnt go anywhere else!!!!

Visited here early July and I had a beer and my companion had a latte coffee. The beer was of good quality and was reasonably priced, but I did feel that the small coffee, without a biscuit was overpriced. The pub itself is nice and is very clean.

My husband and I were at the northern vaults last night for a few drinks and a meal, it was beautiful, really lovely meal, we will definitely be back! And the service was great and very friendly we would highly recommend.

Good food, good atmosphere and friendly staff

The Vaults is a very handy local bar with a good choice of drinks and is also handy for meals. Visited recently to watch some live sport on their projector, also handy for that too.

Great all round pub with good food music

Although this isn't on the official Mofest venues it is a must visit pub for the best beer, best food and best music. I recommend the curry. I also recommend dancing all night to the house band. They were amazing. If you visit one pub in Montrose, make it this one. And not just cause the manager said to say that.

My father-in-law likes to eat at the Northern Vaults so we usually take him there when we visit and can honestly say we have only ever had good meals in all the years we’ve done so.Sad to see an old favourite (chicken fajita) is no longer on the menu, but there are plenty of other good things to choose from – haddock and the chicken goujons are both very good. Unfortunately the 75cl bottles of wine are no longer available, but the replacement small bottles are just as nice.

First time having food in the Northern Vaults. Food was delicious and will definitely be back. Good choice of vegetarian food also and prices were good value for money.

We went along to see KJB play and had a meal while there. The atmosphere was great and the band was top class. The steak pie was really very good and we had a great night.Only downside was when we reserved our table in advance we were not told that under 18's we not allowed in there after 9pm so we had to leave early.

The vaults (as us locals call it) is a fantastic bar that does brilliant food too! Would always advise going once because you'll definitely go again for the food, best pub food I've ever had and they aren't stingy with the portion size either! Bar staff are happy and friendly too!They also have a pool table if you fancy a game :0)
