Go every now and then and get the same thing to be charged different prices each time (always a takeaway never sit in) , only writing a review now because this time our lunch was £17.20 for a toasty and a panini, it was not a toasty it was cosy bread and the panini was dripping, the pasta and salad was wet and the crisps were soggy, not happy at all

Pleasant enough café with a tempting selection of cakes. The mocha was a bit gritty - the chocolate needed more mixing in. Espresso was perfectly fine though. Had a takeaway and drank our drinks overlooking the harbour.

Recommended by a customer at my work , so decided to give it a try. We arrived to one table that was left , it still had plates at it but the people had just left , they were quick to clear the table, my only concern with that was they didn't wipe clean the table , I thought was not right. We had the soup sandwich combo, the soup came piping hot, and it was delicious. The sandwich was tasty too. Very reasonable price . Would go again .

A cute little cafe overlooking the harbor and a short walk from the main street. Obviously popular with the locals and we were fortunate to get a table since we did not book. Nice food at a reasonable price and very friendly and happy staff. The dessert bars were amazing and lots to choose from. We enjoyed a harbor walk after our lunch. A pleasant lunch and lovely little excursion to Tayport.

Being new visitors once a week to the area, we drop a sibling off for an hour and a half leaving us that small space of time to take in the walks shops and local cafes. It was the cafe this day we were there. It’s a community cafe run cafe with volunteers and also staff. Set menu for breakfast one of which was ordered, and a roll in sausage. We popped in here for some coffee and cake after a long walk. We all ordered coffees and cake. The cake was nice but was a little dense and dry which made it hard to eat, and the cappucinos were a bit too milky. Love the concept of this place though and it seems we were just a little unlucky as most of the reviews of this place are great. The traybakes looked really good so wish I'd tried one of those!

A sunny bracing morning with a cold east wind blowing from close to the Arctic Circle. Lively seas across the Tay. Took shelter in The Harbour Cafe and was glad I did. Great chicken soup! Ordered a fried egg roll and a black pudding roll! Arrived with 2 nicely fried eggs! And there were 2 slices of black pudding as well! Very generous portions! Service good but could be better organised as took a wee while for food to arrive. Tables quite close together which created difficulty for mums with pushchairs. Nicely decorated and clean toilets. Great location across from the harbour car park. Fair selection on menu and cakes looked tempting! Would not miss it if you are in the town

After just buying a house in Tayport, I decided to try out the local harbour cafe. I've been on two occasions now and both times I really enjoyed my time there. The Harbour Cafe is a community run cafe - staff were friendly and polite, service was good and the food was also lovely. There was also a great selection of cakes on display - not great when you're trying to diet but amazing news for everyone else! The only slight critique that I would say would have led me to giving this a 5 star review would be that the second time I visited, the tables were slightly slow to be cleared, and when I sat at a table, it took a slight wait before my table was wiped down from the last customers. However, on a Saturday during a lunch time rush I understand that sometimes things aren't always spic and span as quickly as we'd all like/expect. Portion sizes were good and food was cooked to a high standard on both occasions. The menu was great - lots of choice and the prices were very reasonable - far better than typical cafe prices elsewhere. Overall, this cafe is a great little business. Great food, warm company and a lovely view. I will definitely be back once I've settled in to my new house.

She also ordered a pot of tea whilst I chose a cold apple drink.Service was friendly, not long to wait for our order, and the food was good.I noticed they also had a selection of traybakes on offer too, but we resisted the temptation! They had a selection of art hanging on the walls which is for sale, plus a bookcase of 2nd hand books which are available to purchase.Reasonable value for money and we would return.

I have been to the harbour cafe a few times now and the food has always been nice . First impression I thought it was good a but pricey considering we only had two sandwiches and tea. Second time I went I was pleased to see that volunteers are working there however I felt that the young lady volunteering was asking to help and was being ignored a bit due to staff being busy this would have been unintentional but looked a bit bad and made me feel uneasy as I could see the girl was looking slightly uncomfortable, I volunteer places myself and would hate to feel like that. What a disappointment. I found the Bothy at Boglily on TA, loved the look of the place, the gorgeous photos of cooked food on their site and the good reviews. We are doing a road trip and this was going to be our Sunday morning treat. The car park was jammed with cars and we saw people standing in a queue to pet baby goats. Upon entering the inviting Bothy and asking a young man for a table, we were told that we couldn’t bring our dog in. Fair enough. Not every dining establishment is dog-friendly. Though I was a bit surprised as the restaurant is in a buffalo farm, there’s a petting zoo and it’s in the countryside. The sun was shining so I asked if we could order our meal and sit at the table on the deck, directly next to the door of The Bothy (see photo for proximity). The young man’s response was that they don’t offer takeaway. I queried whether a table one step from the door qualified as takeaway. It reminded me of the TV ad with the man trying to buy potatoes at a farm shop and being told that he can only pay with digital currency. People taking themselves so seriously that they don’t think of the customer experience. We had driven up from our holiday cottage at Kinghorn especially to get a nice cooked breakfast from their lovely menu, so my surprise and disappointment were apparent. I was directed to the outdoor kiosk they call the Milk Bar to order something from their limited selection. We ordered one Double Cheese Toastie with fries, a latte, an affogato milkshake ( made with buffalo milk ice cream) and a scone, which was on their menu. The two lovely servers told me that they don’t sell scones outside and I would have to go to the Bothy Café to get one. When I explained that I had been told up there that I couldn’t get anything from them takeaway, the young woman offered to go get one for me. They were both very sweet and I apologised for my previous grumpiness. Unfortunately, it wasn’t worth the trouble. The cheese toastie and fries were served in a cardboard tray. The toastie was on “cheap white bread” according to my partner. I didn’t taste it. The fries and the milkshake however, were excellent. My scone was dry, cold and crumbled into breadcrumb texture when I tried to spread some butter on it. The crumb was impossible to pick up and eat but my dog liked it. It wasn’t worth eating for me as it then began to rain and we had to head for the car. I can’t help but think that the very cheerful, welcoming and upmarket website promises more than it delivers.

Happened on this by chance and so enjoyed the food we booked to come back again later in the week despite it being nearly a 30 mile trip. Great service. Great environment but mainly great food.

Had lunch here based on Tripadvisor reviews and I totally agree with the excellent rating for this super cafe! Busy Saturday but quickly seated, order promptly taken and then fantastic tomato and basil soup, egg mayo sandwich on lovely brown bread with salad, cheese and ham toasties with crisps arrived for us to enjoy! Substantial portions filled us up all day on a visit to the University Open Day. We will be back!
