Great we got a special fish the only chips shop offering this will be back again , chips were the best I've tasted in a while the fish two pieces was tasty and crispy.

Great chippy , good value even had a deep fried mars bar which was amazing . Nice friendly staff. Would defo recommend.

Stopped to sit in for a chippy and ended up getting a Tikka Main with rice and sauce was Excellent. The Kids Had sausage supper and half pizza supper and said it was great 👍Definitely go back👍

Meal for 5 people. Fish just ok. However the chips were awful, strange off taste. Ladies toilet was disgusting and no toilet roll. Would not recommend this place at all

The new currys on the menu are great. Staff were very accommodating when we asked about Gluten Free and Vegan options.

Gotten take away from here several times but recently the food hasn't been up to standard. Having gluten free options is still great and I have no complaint about that. But the quality of food in general is not what you would expect. Waited 45 minutes for takeaway of 2 half pizza suppers and a gluten free fish which is fine. But the half pizzas were well over done aswell as the lack of chips that accompanied it. As for the brown sauce! Never had a brown sauce taste so sweet before. Overall not feeling the quality for the money.

This Cafe does both excellent fish and chips, and is the best curry house in Central Region, and I have tried most of them. Ian J

First curry from Frying Dutchman, pretty tasty but 2 steps mild compared with expectations. South Indian Garlic Chilli Chicken and Chicken Tikka Masala, both with special rice (which was excellent) but both curries were pretty tame. Not unpleasant but will ask for extra spices next time. Very reasonable prices and decent delivery time after order. Great service as with chip shop side of business, which is awesome taste and value.

Dutchman curry house has secured its spot as my go-to for curry takeout. The exceptional taste, variety, and attention to detail make it a standout choice. You can ask chef if you want some special curry. Highly recommended for anyone craving authentic Indian style food!

Very friendly, the chef said if there was something we wanted that wasn’t on the menu just ask. We had food from the Indian and fish and chip menu, they were all delicious, large portions, good quality ingredients and reasonably priced. I would recommend this restaurant.

Went in to get some food 5 people came in after me and they took there order over my one order so I walked away My friend also was with me but we were ordering and paying separately we made that clear when there order their food There food was cold and not great they told me

Had a fish supper here last night. Have to say one of the best I have ever had. My son had the same and he agreed. The food is cooked to order, so no fish sitting in a hot cupboard . The chips were superb as well. Price wise, about average but the portions were very generous. Other menu items also looked good. If you're passing please try.

Fish and chips were unreal,,,2 big bits of fish and loads of chips,, sat in to eat it and the plate was massive,, freshly made,,,up there with the best I think iv ever had 👌❤️

As a regular customer I can recommend the gluten free options 100%. Lovely staff, food is always really good (could add a bit more sauce on the chips though) by far my favourite chippy.

We had a fish supper and a scampi supper from the Frying Dutchman. The chips were very well cooked and not greasy. The haddock was fresh and tasty, the batter was crispy. I was disappointed that there was only seven pieces of scampi but it was definitely fresh and tasted good. It was decent value for money and we ate it all so I would recommend this fish and chip shop if you are visiting Callander. All the food is cooked to order so you will need to wait.

Décevant. Portions généreuses mais poisson avec aucun goût. Goût prononcé de friture. Les frites sont surgelées, réchauffées avec un goût quelconque. Si vous avez le choix, passez votre chemin. Ambiance triste dans le restaurant, taches incrustées dans les tables.

Was charged then order was cancelled after waiting over an hour, but they still took payment, 30 minutes later they took payment again…. So almost £50 and No food, no money to buy something else as they had it, phoned and first time I was hung up on, then phoned back and explained again that I wasn’t happy!! So the (female) promised a full refund for both payments taken and a free dish supper, they didn’t refund my payments and today they claimed them so I’m very angry!! Talking to my bank now- and No we didn’t get any food…. The refund should have went straight back into my account and The 2nd payment have never been taken!!!! I am so so angry upset annoyed and disappointed no starts for you sorry, not until I get my money all of it back and you can compensate somehow!!!! So so shocked and disappointed

We were for a sit down meal, huge portions 2 fish in the fish supper and 2 sausages in the sausage supper!! Very good chips they were crispy and the fish very fresh. Very reasonable priced too! Great service for the waiter who was so friendly! Highly recommend a visit!

Friendly service, full menu of chippy foods. Battered fish was okay. Chips were good. Need to salt and vinegar the chips before placing the fish on top, otherwise the chips don't get any s&v. Fish needs a better batter and perhaps fried in another oil.

Had a trip to Callander and popped in here for food. Wasn't too busy so didn't have to wait long, quick and friendly service, food was served promptly and hot..

Oh my goodness wow, wow, wow, talk about perfection. The food is just perfect! Fresh cut chips literally in front of us. Fresh and hot and super fast delivery! There was 7 of us and the service and speed of ot was incredible. The portion sizes are HUGE definitely would recommend and very well priced too!! Cannot wait to come back to have it again!!

I'm local to this chippy and so have had several take-aways from here. Also dined-in once. Best fish and chips as well as smoked sausage. I really will be hard pressed to go anywhere else. Food is cooked on order so it hasn't been sitting around for ages. Friendly service. Decent portion sizes and reasonably priced for the amount of food. I would definitely recommend.

Excellent old fashioned fish and chips. They offer a single ( just fish) a supper ( fish and chips) and a tea which we had which is two medium fish, chips, bread roll and butter and cup of tea. Properly cooked, crispy batter, but not too dry, generous portions. We couldn’t eat another thing.

Our group ordered the haddock supper and some jalapeño poppers. We were literally the only ones dining in, and the staff was friendly and attentive. The fish and chips were delicious and the poppers were great, too.

Best fish and chips we have had in Callander. Service was swift, polite and attentive. Fish was fresh and the batter crispy. The cafe was bright with good amount of seating.

Outstanding place, me and my friends absolutely love coming off a munro and getting here on the way home. The thought of these chips sustains us on many a tough mountain climb! Sitting down afterwards to eat this meal, with sore legs and low energy, feels incredible and restorative. Please stay open forever, we love you!

Visited this chippie now a few times ,my wife is celiac therefore it is vey important that the gluten free standards and procedures is adhered to The food is made to order which means a wait but is well worth it The batter is crispy and fish lovely and moist , portions are excellent and price competitive The standards are consistently great and I would highly recommend visiting here you won’t be disappointed

This was one of the rare occasions where food actually lived up to the expectations created by the online reviews. The best chips I ever had anywhere, period. As for the accompanying Stornaway black pudding it’s obvious that credit goes partially to the butchers that prepared it. Overall very good experience.

Great choice for fish and chips. Great value too. Two haddock teas and two senior haddock teas - excellent quality, sooo tasty, very good value. We will definitely come again. Highly recommended

Overall makes good food, sit in is decent too. I am local to this chippy and was 7.50 before for a fish supper and you got 2 dish, now is 8.60 I got charged and only 1 fish. Disappointed was pretty tasty, but come on I get prices going up but you can't expect to charge more and give less that's daylight robbery. Please sort it asap 🙏 thanks. Note. Avoid tasty fry in Callander, food is not good there.

Some of the best chips we've had in a long time. Crispy light batter on really nice and nicely done fish.

We sampled both sides of the Frying Dutchman last weekend. On the way north we sat in the cafe/restaurant. Staff were very friendly and food was very straightforward, quick, and good. On the way south we called in again. The cafe/restaurant was closed so we went into the chippy. Same warm welcome. Staff were very accommodating and went back into the kitchen to make an excellent chowder for us. Just what we wanted. We will be back.

Best fish and chips we have tasted, cooked in dripping absolutely yummy! Would recommend highly. We had fish supper which had 2 pieces of fish, great batter and ample chips with portion of mushy peas and curry sauce all for £20! Returned following week to have one fish supper with sausage supper this was even cheaper but great quality!!

Dropped in for a bacon roll and a coffee. Seriously unimpressed. The lady serving was nice enough. I asked for a bacon roll and a coffee, specifically an Americano. I also asked for the bacon to be well done ( crispy, as she confirmed). Whilst waiting, I noticed her taking a jar of instant coffee from the counter and disappearing through the back. Sure enough, when the coffee arrived it was luke warm and weak. I said nothing , but perhaps she realised I'd noticed as she offered to make me a proper one using the machine which was just warming up. I thanked her , however this one was no better , warm and weak, definitely not an Americano.Then the bacon roll arrived, undercooked and cold. In no way could it be described as well done or crispy. I said nothing as I just wanted to get some food inside me. I was then charged £6.75 .....for a cup of dishwater and a cold bacon roll. I don't know what this place is like normally. It seems to get generally good reviews and it looked like she was just opening up. Should have said so and I'd have gladly waiting a little longer. Sorry to sound so harsh but I was very disappointed and felt ripped off TBH

We popped in on our way north. Wow what an amazing place. The service, people and food were amazing. We both had the fish supper tea and we loved it. What's even better, they serve the best haggis in Scotland, Macsween of Edinburgh 😍😍😍

Best Chippy in the town for take aways, staff very pleasant and attentive. Passed on Saturday 5th November and there was some issue that the Fire Service were dealing with, hope it wasn’t a serious one and they are back feeding the town and it’s passing trade soon.

I am not impressed by this cafe which should be reported to trading standards. Along with my husband we visited the Frying Dutchman and ordered 2 fish teas. After ordering, we noticed there was a special rate for Senior Citizens. The food was fine, no complaints about the quality or quantity. The cafe was pristinely clean and service was very quick. However, when we went to the till to pay,we explained that we were eligible for the Senior Citizen rates as we are both in our late 60's.To substantiate this we both showed our bus passes as photo identity. The Asian waitress who did not communicate well in English, took my credit card and when I got the receipt it revealed that our total meals cost was £23 and if we had been charged Senior Citizen Rates it would have been £14. Now, having worked in Callander for several years and knowing it is a tourist place it set alarm bells. Many of Callander's visitors are elderly and come on bus trips. How many more people will this cafe rip off? It just casts a dark shadow over a lovely town that is trying hard to attract tourism which it relies on, to keep it afloat. What kind of message are they sending out? It should be renamed 'the 'Lying Dutchman'.

Absolutely delicious fish supper that was very generous. We came in with a fussy toddler and they immediately got him his orange juice and some bread so we could feed him. Fish had a light crispy batter and chips were also great. Recommend!

We drove from Dumbarton to eat from here. Staff are very friendly and approachable, everything is fried in beef dripping (hmmm) so it has a lovely crunch down to the last chip.

We were staying at the Nearby Keltie Bridge Caravan Site so had a delivery of Fish & Chips. They were all Piping Hot & Delicious, lovely Fish, would definitely recommend
