We went for lunch and decided on hot roast pork with mashed potatoes and veg . When it came it was 2 thin pork chops that needed cooked longer . Lumpy mashed dry potatoes , 4 slices of carrots and a lot of peas . Usually we enjoy our lunch here to be fair but it let us down today . We did not complain but paid £24 for it . Maybe we should have .

Brilliant stop for lunch after the Blue Door walk nearby. So glad we booked, the place was busy and the people in front of us as we walked in were reluctantly turned away. We were a group of 5 plus dog and had a variety of choices. Everything was very good - coronation chicken panini, home made leek and potato soup, brie and bacon panini, hot chocolate, excellent espresso coffee, stunning baking (choc orange tiffin and Gold bar traybake) for instance. Would absolutely recommend. Our only improvement would be to offer a side order of chips which a couple of us would happily have shared with our panini. Staff were all lovely as well.

Had to eat lunch with four dogs in the cafe and a strong smell of wet dog. We wouldn’t go back because of this. Most wouldn’t say anything and just not go back but for the owners, keeping a few dog owners happy and not telling people that dogs are allowed alienates many customers. No need for dogs in a food service business. One dog was putting its front paws on a table, not very hygienic.

Visited today with my two sons for lunch and the food was lovely! It was busy but we only waited 10mins for our food! I had a tuna and cheese toastie which was lovely! My husband had something off the specials board! The boys each had a hot filled roll and we had clean (lovely) plates all round! We’ll be back! Also loved the stuffed animals and pictures of edzell from the past!

The waiting staff seem totally clueless and couldn't have moved slower if they tried. We waited nearly 20 minutes for 2 bowls of soup. The soups were actually ready but the waiting staff left them sitting on the counter for ages before condescending to bring them to us. Just as well the soup was really hot when first put in the bowls. The attached shop is of the typically over priced souvenir type - nice to look at but far too expensive.

Our last visit was on Hogmanay and to give you a taste of the menu we had carrot and tomato soup, parsnip sage and honey soup, backed camenberg with sautéed mushrooms and prawn marie rose toastie. All absolutely faultless in taste and deliciousness. I have known the Tweed Warehouse for several decades, as far back as when it was owned by well-known and well-liked Edzell family - the Callegaris.. It has changed hands, and having sampled lunch there a number of times since, I am delighted to report that the Callegaris would be delighted to know that the quality of the food, the chatty staff and excellent service, has not in any way declined. The adjoining gift and clothes shop also continue to offer great choice for Xmas and birthday presents. Everything I'm told is home-baked on the premises and I have never had any reason to doubt that - the cabinet of tasty cakes offering a fantastic selection of mouth-watering goodies, ample in size, so much so that on an earlier visit I asked Holly to cut the tray bake in two - it was so big and I was thinking of my lunch companion's midriff!!! We ate in the Tweedy again on Thursday when Holly suggested that this time we should have one tray-bake each - we succumbed! The visit brought to mind a story I'd heard in London many years ago about what the old Jew suggested we should do to achieve success - Feed the Public, Clothe the Public and Entertain the Public - the first two will guarantee success and I guess it can be said that the staff are certainly entertaining and I'm always delighted when the staff take time for a wee "blether." Fellow customers often don't get a mention and speaking with an old pal from Glenesk and Pitlochry days I was informed that the lady had lunch there every day - now that's a recommendation.

I arrived here about 3 looking for some lunch. It was very busy but I squeezed into a table for two which had a view out the window to the main road. Although there were some interesting choices on the specials board, I opted for an old favourite of baked potato with beans and cheese. It arrived quickly and was a generously sized potato with lots of filling and salad on the side. I was very satisfied with it. Afterwards I had a pot of tea and a piece of malteser slice which was also very nice. The total bill came to £10 which was very reasonable. There is a shop attached with plenty to browse around, and a farm shop with local vegetables. There seemed to be a lot of locals using it, which is always a good sign. Recommended.

Went in there for a sandwich & some tea. The sandwich was fine. However, the salad they served with the sandwich was well past its best. Despite the fact that some of the lettuce had perished & the rest was going brown the waitress to whom I complained obviously didn't think anything was wrong. This leads me to believe that they don't wash the salad or they surely would have noticed it wasn't fit to serve. Didn't even apologise!

I then ordered a coronation chicken sandwich , when it came I said oh I didn't order tuna mayo, this is what it looked like, then the waitress told me oh they used roast chicken for it so it was like gravy chicken with mayo and curry powder, the salad on my plate was rotten round the edges I did show the waitress and told the lady at the till but can you believe I was chArged for that plate of food. We now use it at least monthly. The service is friendly, personal, and prompt, considering lots of the plates are individual. Variable menu, with some interesting soups. Fresh scones to win awards.

Popped in at half ten on the way up to "The Blue Door" walk along the Esk Burn, damp and drizzly, but we were warmed up by a lovely straight from the oven scone and a terrific Cappucino. Coffee quality is definitely getting better wherever you seem to go but ultimately the result is determined by the blend of beans used, and these suited our palates perfectly, goof hot milk too, something that often fails in a Cappucino!

I have now visited this little coffee shop twice and have been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the cakes, etc. as I was only passing through, I have not had a meal there, but it has always been full to capacity. Coffee is a little on the strong side, but that has not deterred from the fact that the scones, were wonderful.

I popped into The Tweedie today for a warm up in this horrid weather. After a quick look around the store I plonked myself down in the coffee shop and enjoyed a delicious hot chocolate with marshmallows and a slice of tray bake. The staff seemed very friendly and I found the atmosphere very warming and comfortable. After my refreshments I tried on several lovely coats, jackets, hats and scarves before bidding farewell to the friendly staff before heading out to brave the weather.

As a regular visitor to the establishment I have been greatly disappointed by the attitude and service by the new owners. They are lucky to have retained some of the existing staff - I feel without this that they would be lucky to retain custom. Inflated prices (including charging 50p for tap water!) and aloof patronising attitude given by woman at till upon payment is not appreciated. They need to realise that they are now working in the service industry, they are there to provide the service for the paying customer rather than the customer being made to feel that they should be appreciative for having been in the establishment! Thankfully the old staff members are there to create a buffer for this appalling new team. They could learn a thing or two from them - a great place to start is 'the customer is always right'......

Terrible, don't go unless you don't mind it being dirty and leaving smelling like a chip pan. The picnic table, bench, floor, skirting boards were filthy and there was a blue haze around open plan kitchen. Extractor fans were not in use, we left reeking of fat. Our meals were terrible and the server looked like she'd just walked in off the streets, leggings in socks, trainers and a black hoody. When it originally opened,2020, it had so much promise.

Packed on the day of our visit and we had probably the last table. Food was excellent quality and service was very friendly if s we’d bit haphazard at times. Part of meal arrived late and incomplete but overall very good

Never have we been to a hotel with such friendly welcoming staff. Everyone we met showed us the greatest hospitality. Nothing was too much trouble. We ate in the restaurant on both nights of our stay and enjoyed the food and again the friendly attitude of the staff. Breakfast was varied with a choice of hot dishes including Arbroath smokies. Our room was spacious and warm with a view over the green. We will certainly return if we visit Montrose again. The birdwatching was good too!

Great, understated restaurant. The soup was a very generous portion and very tasty. Also lived the lemon and blueberry sponge.
