I have eaten at the Red Lion several times before, for Sunday lunch and for an evening meal. This year the quality has greatly deteriorated and when I took three people there for a thank you meal it was absolutely deplorable. I could not believe the plates of food which were served to us. On each plate was the roast meat, roast potatoes but half of each was burnt BLACK, Yorkshire pudding which was also burnt BLACK and mash potatoes. I had roast turkey which was very good, one person had roast beef which again was good the two other people had suppose roast ham which looked like rashers of bacon. We were served a dish of vegetables which consisted of carrots, peas, broccoli and red cabbage. They were all tasteless, the broccoli wasn’t cooked and the red cabbage was a poorly looking pink colour. So out of the whole meal the only things that were acceptable were the turkey, beef and mash potatoes. I told the waitress that the potatoes and Yorkshire puddings were burnt and also told the girl who took my payment at the bar that I was very disappointed with the food and why. She said she would tell the chef to which I pointed out that the chef already knows because he sent the Black burnt food out. Because this meal was my treat I felt very upset and disappointed but didn’t want to cause any embarrassment to my guests by making a fuss. It cost me £54.00 for the food which was definitely not up to anyone’s expectations. So sad because I used to really liked going to the red lion.

We've just had Sunday lunch and it was absolutely delicious. They do 2 small plates for £14.95 and they did not disappoint. Full of fresh vegetables and the roast beef was very tender. Both me and my husband were completely full. The other couple opted for the chicken, again it was delicious, fresh and chicken cooked beautifully. Staff are friendly and efficient. We'll definately be returning on a regular basis for our Sunday lunch.

Excellent food and great choice. Suggest you book ahead. For the "top" meals they are between £25 and £30 each. I had a mixed fish dish which was excellent.

Not been for 2yrs and sadly still not impressed. Menu still very basic and small. Still no return of dish of the day. The place was pretty busy but none of the food looked like it was saying ‘try me’ to either of us. We did say shall we go somewhere else but decided to stay. Food arrived, light bite scampi & chips which consisted of 5 extremely small pieces of scampi, a dozen chips if that and about 20 peas. Cheese & onion toastie was very greasy and appeared salty. Crockery had big chips/cracks in them which is off putting. Sorry but today was our absolute last visit

We have visited this cafe before but just for a drink inside the modern cafe area. This time the extended family (8) decided on food as well. Sitting outside in a shaded area everyone enjoyed their food choices, with the Monk's Pottage being a bit of a highlight! If you are visiting the Abbey, be sure to stop and refresh in the cafe.

Visited Orchard Cafe with my sister for lunch on Saturday 21st March and could no believe what we where served. We both asked for a Tuna Melt which we have had on several occasions at Cooplands and has always been good. When it came it was just HALF a sandwich just 1 slice of bread with salad and crisps. We could not believe it. We have never been served half a sandwich before at any cafe. No wonder the place was virtually empty with only a few tables taken. This was a Saturday at 1.30. and should have bee very busy.

Stayed here on our way home to the West Country we stay almost every year. And this year was just as good as previous years. This year we stayed in house opposite the room I believe was called Braxton? It had a shower over the bath and a nice sized bathroom. The bed was huge and very comfortable, there ware extra pillows/blankets etc in a wardrobe if needed. There was kettle and cafetière with coffee bags. The breakfast the next morning was all cooked to order and great poached eggs. I would highly recommend this hotel and will be staying there again next year. :-)))))

This place seems to divide opinion judging by the reviews but we thought it hit the spot nicely. Yes, the owner does invite you in if he spots you looking at the menu but we felt able to walk away, check a couple of other places and come back with no pressure. Sat out the back where there is lots of Bronte and Railway Children memorabilia on the walls. Even on a dreary day there were decent views over the valley towards Crossroads. In the summer the terrace would probably be lovely. We had homemade lentil and vegetable soup each, two sandwiches served with salad, pot of tea, bottle of water and a toasted tea cake for £25. For Haworth that’s not bad. Food was served quickly and was good, solid, no frills stuff - ideal for a grey autumn day.

UNBELIEVABLE as the daughter of a French Mum I can honestly say the best croissants I have had outside of France. The sourdough bread is delicious and I wish this was my local bakery. truly The sausage rolls and scotch eggs were lovely. What an absolutely beautiful bakery.

Never disappoints! Doesn't pretend to be anything it isn't. Always friendly. Reliably efficient. Simply good honest, uncomplicated food, at very reasonable prices, served in a great Riverside location off the beaten track. Only thing that stops it being more popular is that you need to drive to get there. The folk playing ukuleles in the gardens was a dun background to lunch.

We stayed nearby I Nidd area and walked into the village of Ripley Castle to get a feel of the area and booked a evening meal. We was not dissapointed on sevice, portion quality and did some thing we had never done. Book the next 3 nights to dine and choose something different each from the menu. Between us we tried 6 different items and felt quality service and price was consistent throughout the 4 nights. One night was extremly busy but we were kept informed and not as long a wait we hope. Tip book a table if you can, price we was amazed for the quality and price how reasonable it was. We also live in a very sought after to visit area and these prices were improved on ours.
