Absolutely fantastic, good home cooked food made with fresh quality ingredients! Emma and her team are so friendly, attentive and polite. Made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived to when we left. The food was really delicious, great value for money! We had steak & ale pie with mash & peas, cottage pie with mash and veg, 2 deserts and a bottle of wine £66. We will definitely be returning 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

We were staying at The Owston Hall, which is 1.9miles from The Anne Arms & decided to go on a walk with our dog, we originally came across this pub at lunchtime and it looked appealing, we stopped for a drink and after reviewing the menu & being informed the entire venue is dog friendly we decided to come back for dinner! We had a wonderful Lamb Henry, which was cooked to perfection and a great price! The staff even helped us by ordering a dog friendly taxi. There was a beautiful, large beer garden & a child’s play area at the bottom, which seemed very secure. There is also ample parking. I couldn’t recommend The Anne Arms enough!

What’s happening to the food, gone down hill a lot lately, and the staff need to tell their faces they are at work in a customer facing job and should be a bit more friendly

Came here for fathers day.Absolutely shocking, took ages to take order had to ask for this to be done, incorrect tables food sent to us left in front of my husband for 5 minutes the came back and asked if he had touched it as was the wrong table and moved the plate, waited another 20 mins for our meal the yorkshire puddings could of broke a window and the mash was SMASH..... the yorkshires were then replaced and these were exactly the same. Cabbage core thrown on plate along with the other dated veg. Advised one of the waitresses and she had no care in the world and looked straight through then got defensive. Some people.aee not made for front of house. The other waitresses were lovely.

Just had their wonderful small plate fish, (not small at all), very generous size with chips and mushy peas , and tartar sauce. £10.95 per person. The fish had such gorgeous thin crispy batter just melts in your mouth. We are pensioners and it was a delight. They have many more beautiful meals for the same price exceptional value and all plates looked delicious.. Thank you to all the staff serving us, and to the chef. We ate there as a group of 7 last night, service was good, and the staff were friendly. The Steak pie, mashed potato and mushy peas with gravy was perfect and a sizeable portion…..

serving food to the wrong person and telling me it’s my problem and I’ve still got to pay for it! Worst pub/restaurant I’ve ever been to in my life. Do NOT book family functions here because they will serve the food to someone else and still make you pay for the food you haven’t consumed!! The manager is very rude telling me it’s not their problem as a business 🤦‍♀️ and to top it off, paying £25 per head on a “3” course meal that only turns out to be 2 course and the food was absolutely way overdone! Every single steak served out today was way overdone! Poor effort for a “business” and to say if was a booking of 30 as well!! They’ve just made £750 for a poor effort and that’s not even including the drinks served! No wonder everyone left straight after the meal! We usually stay a good hour to 3 hours after a meal but everyone left straight away! Awful business.

Visited a few times with my partner and friends now it's always very clean. The food is absolutely lovely. The staff are always friendly especially, Ellie May who is always on the ball, very polite, welcoming and has given us great service each time we have visited. The mixed grill is my partners favorite and he says it's one of the best he's eaten. We will be back again very soon for the lovely food.

I’ve been to this establishment many of times. They advertise food as being homemade, but not all items on the menu are, such as the kids pizza (frozen) and chicken goujons (frozen) My most recent visit resulted in me having to send my Lasagne back twice for being cold in the middle. In addition the ciabatta was so overcooked it was like rock. Baring in mind the lasagne went back twice they didn’t change it,they sent the same one out. Simply, if you want good food, and good value for money there is plenty of other options in the local area such as Dario’s, Thornhurst, Burghwallis and Owston.

Had a lovely family birthday meal, the food was excellent, the atmosphere very friendly and the staff very attentive, particularly the lovely Ellie on only her 2nd day. Will definitely return and recommend to all.

Both ordered steak pie, what an enormous slab of pie, about 4 inch square and packed solid with meat, wow. Server very attentive, good speed at lunchtime.

We had a lovely lunch here the food was very good the portions are big but we managed to eat everything. The service was good and the staff were friendly. I would recommend this pub for good meals and good service. It was reasonably priced.

First time I have visited since new management, but will be the last. Visited with a ladies lunch club, and they seemed organised initially taking individual orders to make paying easier but service very slow. When the food eventually arrived I was brought a regular fish and chips from the main menu, rather than the small plate which I had expected as we were ordering from the lunch menu. When I told them she said I hadn't asked for a small one but as it was my first visit, and there is no access to the menus online, I was unaware that they did more than one size, and surely the waitress should have checked when taking the order. I order to sort this out they decided to give me the large one but only charge for the small one, to save waste, but in fact I didn't eat much, as both the fish and chips tasted very sweet. The food served to my fellow diners didn't look great although they didn't seem too concerned. I have seen another review stating that a diner was given a larger size than ordered, but they didn't realise and had problems when paying. I think better staff training is required

Went here tonight with my husband for a meal. I ordered the pie, my husband ordered the 'Mixed Grill Special' which is the smaller mixed grill as titled on the menu at £18.95. The larger one is titled the 'megamix grill' at £25.95. I will say the food quality was excellent. Really enjoyed the meal, the waitresses really helpful and friendly. When it came to paying at the bar, the bar lady said as she typed in the till 'the large mixed grill' and I saw her type the larger price in. I said, no, my husband ordered the 'special, she said, 'yes that's the larger one'. I said 'no, that's definitely the smaller one, I remember him pointing to it on the menu.' She then asked the waitress to fetch the menu to point it out. Turns out, I was right, the smaller was titled the 'Special', the waitress who served us, looked horrified at her mistake. The bar lady then went to speak to the manageress sitting just across the bar. I heard her say, 'well, he ate it, he'll have to pay, its his mistake he told the waitress the special'. I then questioned her, and said 'sorry its not my husbands fault that he ordered the special and was given the larger portion, he's not at fault. She repeated that he had eaten the bigger one. We have never eaten here before and he had not realised he had been given the larger option. The manageress was rude and shouting at us across the bar which was packed with customers. I offered to pay the full price, but wanted an apology as we were not at fault. She said 'oh just give it to them the cheaper price, I then felt very awkward, paid and left. She tried to insinuate my husband was at fault and then backtracked and tried blaming the chef. Such a shame as the food was lovely, but I feel her customer service was shocking given we were not at fault, maybe they should train their waitresses to understand the menu better? Or better yet, change their wording on the menu, not blame their customers for THEIR mistake. Will not return.

Visited with my partner for a drink and ended up having a nibble we decided on the sharing platter reasonably priced at £13.95 and cauliflower wings the haring platter was easily enough for 4 this included chicken garlic mushrooms garlic bread onion rings and loaded homemade chips with chilli and cheese couldn’t recommend enough the staff were very attentive new landlord and lady were on site they have recently recorated the place very clean with a lovely selection of spirits draught and wines definitely worth a visit !

This place is pretty near to us and has recently been taken over. 4 of us. Advised to book on a Thurs eve but there was plenty of room and even nice enough to sit out. 2 had gammon 1 had steak an I had lasagne, all was gorgeous with home made chips, the lasagne dish was one of the deepest and nicest I'd ever had. No need for puddings. The 4 meals come to about £60, the steak being the dearest. Friendly staff, good selection of food and drinks

I was pleasantly surprised when I visited the Anne Arms for the first time yesterday with family. All the food was delicious. I had the home made lasagne (which actually tasted home made) with chips. They were good chips, too - just the right combination of crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. The sticky toffee pudding dessert was also very good. The service was very warm and friendly and the whole thing was exceptionally good value. Will definitely visit again.

Looks like a pub where locals have there own chairs. Food was average, did notice quite a bit of swearing coming from the bar area which isn’t great

We had been to a Charity open day at Taylors Clematis Nursery and had been told the Anne Arms was good for a meal. Atmosphere when you go in as the entrance and bar area have a stone flag floor. We dined in the conservatory which was bright and clean but not to hot as it has a solid roof. I had the Gammon from the light bite section of the menu which was good and certainly a substantial light bite. My companions where both happy with their meals and we were pleased to have been pointed in the direction of the Anne Arms.

It's very rare I will write a bad review of a restaurant but this was so bad that felt I had to get it off my chest. A group of 4 of us went recently and the poor quality of the meal was the same for all 4 of us. I had a mixed grill and with the exception of the gammon and the fried egg everything else varied from dry and overcooked to burnt (especially the sausage, which resembled a lump of charcoal). All the steaks were overcooked and even the burger bun on one of our meals was burnt. They did refund the cost of one of our party who's steak was so overcooked as to be inedible. I regret not complaining more but to be honest, we just wanted to get out. Yes it's only pub grub and it is reasonably priced but you do expect it to be at least well cooked - especially as it was a quiet night. Looking at the other reviews, maybe this was just a bad night but it was possibly the worst meal out we've had and sadly we won't be trying it again.

So nice to have a nice pub close to home, bonus that it allows Dogs too! Food is always tip top and they do have some brilliant specials on offer.

33 of us booked the conservatory to eat in. Most meals were pre booked. Service was quick to say how many of us there was. Nice setting, soon got hot with all the body heat but could open the windows. Chicken on the mixed grill was very spicy my dad said. I had gammon, egg and chips and my partner had steak and ale pie, chips and mushy peas £19.90 for both. £3.60 for a pint of lager. Very pleasant staff, room well presented.

Called here for an evening meal we ordered and received excellently cooked tastey meals at reasonable prices we were looked after by the barman and waitresses too plus nice to see the chef popping out to keep an eye on his customers too quality food excellently cooked will certainly be back from one chef to another well done

We've eaten here several times and its always been lovely, and they did great when we had a gluten free group member, they were really clear about what could be eaten and were able to make several adjustments to the menu such as providing gluten free gravy.

Decided to visit after reading the great reviews and checking out their website. Rang late Saturday morning and asked if food was being served all afternoon and if they were dog friendly. The lady informed me that food would be served and they are dog friendly . After taking the dog for a walk we arrived at 15.10hrs to be told they had stopped serving at 15.00hrs and evening service would start at 17.00 !!!! ....... Wasted trip , ruined afternoon. Unable to fairly review the food ,service and value as we didn't get that far.

As usual everything was OK. Good food at a reasonable price and good service. We had a variety of dishes, the pork chops could have been hotter.

After a visit to nearby Brodsworth Hall, we were looking for somewhere informal to have an early evening meal so, by searching Tripadvisor we found this nice friendly village pub had already received some good reviews and headed over there.

Just found Anne Arms hand have to say what a delight, the food is of first class and the service is impeckable. The menu has a host of delights from traditional bar meals to tastes of the world. We tried the 2 for £12 and what a surprise the Fish and Chips were huge and cooked to perfection, the other meal was Steak Pie in the traditional dish which was packed with steak and not just a load of veg and gravey like some places we have visited.

The meat was okay but the rest of the dinner seemed to have been pre cooked/overcooked and microwaved again. The Yorkshire puddings were very thin and poor quality.

We called here for a meal on a sunny Saturday Evening, the outside was full of tattooed, half dressed lobster looking roughnecks. It was pretty quite inside and nobody eating which wasn't a good omen but as it was getting late we decided to give it a go. I had green lipped Mussels to start, these were rather chewy and the Garlic sauce was like wallpaper paste. We both ordered the Rib eye steak with salad this was very grisley.While we were eating the cook and bar staff kept nipping outside the main entrance door for a fag, this was really off putting. I'd have given this place one star but the Taylors Landlord was well conditioned, we won't be calling again.

We popped into the Anne Arms for a refreshment whilst traveling down south and staying overnight in the area. We only had a drink, my wife had a wine and I had a beer. both tasted very good and did the job, refreshment.

Myself and my partner first came here 10yrs ago, and even though it has since changed hands, decided to revisit last night. We booked a table for 7pm but decided to go an hour earlier and arrived at 6pm. Our table was ready and waiting for us and a very pleasant young lady took our order. Our food was served fairly quickly, and was fresh , hot and very good. It was obvious everything, from the pasta, chips, down to the onion rings, were home cooked , the chips especially nice! All the staff were both friendly and efficient, would not hesitate to visit again and would recommend.

My parents use to take me here and l loved it. I still do and now take my own children. Itvis lovely the food is great, good selection and reasonably priced. The staff are pleasant and the landlady cannot do enough for you. As l have been unwell we have not been for a while but was only saying the other day we need a trip out. Cannot say enough good about this place. Well worth a visit. Once you have been you will be sure to return.

Popped into The Anne Arms tonight on a recommendation, to have a meal. Pleasant surroundings and friendly and welcoming staff. Food was served after only a short wait. It was piping hot, fresh and very tasty. So impressed were we with everything about our visit, that we booked a table for the coming weekend and will be taking friends there who are visiting us from Norfolk.

Been here a couple of times for lunch and never disappoints. Beautiful, reasonably priced home cooked food and the staff are all lovely and attentive.Top marks for not ripping people off because it was Mother’s Day, only asking for a deposit instead. Will be back soon!! Thank you :)

my wife and I called into the The Anne Arms on a whim as we felt peckish and we were passing by, it had been several years since our last visit and was interested if it had changed much in that time, gladly no it hadn't, as we entered we found a specials board to our left with a nice selection displayed but we decided to look at the menu, our server was a very polite and gracious young lady called "sioux-jay", a rather unusual name and as we inquired she stated that her father was a native american fan, as i am myself,so she was named after the tribe. my wife ordered the Chicken curry while i ordered the Hunters chicken when the meals arrived we were astounded at the size of them, both my wife and myself could not eat all that was presented to us, the food was cooked to perfection and was displayed on the plate quite neatly, which is just as important as the meal,general rule is if it looks good it will taste good, we were not disappointed, the meals were lovely, the remainder of my wife's meal (which was quite considerable) was placed into a polystyrene box so she could take it home with her. Overall the service and food are worth a healthy 10/10, just insure that you have a decent appetite before you go, you'll need it.

Just stopped here when forced off the A1 by an accident. Great food, excellent kids play area and really good value with a 2 mains for £12 offer. Lovely staff and a great alternative to a motorway services.

I have never encountered such a slow and forgetful bar person - ever! I counted that what appeared to be the landlady asked 5 people (my husband and myself count as two of those) to repeat their orders. My husband ordered two drinks and I ordered two meals. (what is to forget - seriously?!?) One customer not only repeated his order but also had to correct her error! Shocking and it wasn't as if she was dealing with big orders.

We had an enjoyable meal. There was plenty of choice, portions were generous and prices very acceptable. Service was good too. Drink prices were reasonable too. Will return.

Arrived at 2 10 pm for a meal. Several boards outside advertising meals served until 2 30 pm. We were told "the chef has shut the kitchen now" no apology or appreciation that this was inconvenient. Very poor service.

Went here on 14th June to celebrate my son passing a exam when we arrived everything seemed fine then we ordered food my wife had penne carbonara and myself and my son had fish and chips. My wife's meal was very bland no taste at all and when she told the waitress she went to the kitchen brought back some Pamazan in the jar slammed it on the table and. Said try some of that on it. The fish was also overcooked then after we had finished we went to pay and the power went off so we couldn't pay on card so had to leave my deatails and find a local shop which also charged me to withdraw cash so I could go back to pay my bill and the barmaid was very rude no sorry for inconvenience or food or anything just no customer service at all.. will not return

My hubby & I decided to go for Sunday lunch. We arrived late in the afternoon so it wasn't busy. We found our table, which needed emptying & cleaning (the older waitress cleaned it straight away & apologised as they had been busy). She was very pleasant & chatty without being intrusive. My hubby came back from the bar & our meal came a couple of minutes later. We both had a small portion which included 2 slices of beef, 1 largish scoop of mash, a yorkshire pudding with a large roast potato in it. Both our meals were swimming in gravy. We had no cutlery so had to wait a minute or so for those to be brought to us. When the young girl brought them I asked if there was any veg, she said yes she was just going to bring it in a rather sharp tone. I apologised as we hadn't been before. She came back with 2 small, shallow dishes with peas, carrots & broccoli. The dish had water in the bottom & there was no spoon to serve the veg with. It wasn't the worst meal we've ever had but it certainly wasn't the best. We won't return

Tried Anne arms again it was alright but not a patch on thonhurst sorry about that your meat of which they was beef lamb pork and turkey your veg came serpent which you could have as much or little your potatoes was on your plate along with the Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes did not get asked if wanted a pudding or not which I thought was a bit off price wise not to bad

We've been to "Annie's arms" numerous times and have always had good food and excellent service, try it, you'll like it.

Ignore previous reviews I went with a party of 12 for an 80th birthday party on Saturday night. I booked the table on Saturday morning for 6pm.The previous reviews slate the food, all of us are happy with what we eat no one had any problems with the quality or quantity or the staff. This price is resonable. This Was our first time and we will be going back.

Due to kitchen renovation we where forced to go out for Sunday lunch so we decided to go local. Roast Beef looked and tasted like boiled beef, roast spuds where boiled then dropped in chip pan for two minutes, Aunt Bessy Yorkshire's rubbery veg and the cherry on the cake was the mash which can be summed up with one word, Gloop. Never again! My daughter said her school dinners where far better.

Have been going to this pub for years but since ray and sue have took over it has got much better. Good selection of beer nice fresh food and if you have a special occasion they can cater for that as well . Well worth a visit . Looking forward to the New Year's Eve party

The Anne Arms has been a quality pub and place to eat in the past, but sadly change or ownership ect has taken its toll. However, now we seem to have some people running it with the the passion and skill to make it famous again. Been previously for Sunday lunch - fab. Called in mid week after a bracing walk; real fires burning and so cosy. Had lasagne and hubby had pork chop lunch time special. He thoroughly enjoyed his and mine was as good as you get in an Italian restaurant. Excellent keep up the good work.

Steak was rubbish and when we complained it wasn't rare as ordered we were told it was fine. I know for £9.99 we shouldn't expect much but it was mostly fat and we couldn't even cut it Eventually the landlady refunded our money but only because she heard us discussing how bad it was very loudly so other guests could hear.

Took family to lunch whilst visiting MIL in Yorkshire. Ate twice in few days as everyone enjoyed their meals so much first time . Home cooked food done with care and even though I'm gluten free they were accommodating offering gluten free gravy . We will be back when in area again , and my relatives who live locally eat out every week and have put. In on their list of places to eat reguarly . .

Been here a few times with a group from work. Foods amazing, menu is a bit lacking but what they do, they do very well. Landlady and staff are very friendly. Had a small issue of a caterpillar appearing in one of the groups salad however, he was a friendly caterpillar and made our night. Landlady apologised and full refund with a free pint was given! Visited Anne Arms twice. Food was OK, however one of my colleagues found twice a little surprise within his meal. Asked for refund. Following our order we have been told that some ingredients are gone ..... no refund. Sticky tables.

It's lovely to have a good local pub. Lovely tidy beer garden with kids play area. Character pub inside with beams and cosy rooms. Good menu with a specials board. Good freshly cooked food. Good kids menu. Good portion sizes. Lovely friendly staff. My only ask would be more veggie options please.

Came in with my wife and two children, we were welcomed with open arms by a staff member, my two children asked for chicken goujons with chips and beans, I had the steak and ale pie and my wife had the lasagne, these were from the 2for£12 menu. The kids meals were of extreme quality and ours were fantastic too! If it was possible to leave a review of over 5 I would! Brilliant!

Passing and returned to check it out. Very nice oldie world atmosphere nice traditional lots of rooms plus sun room and outside eating area. Ordered baked potato with chili carni.it came with side salad and cold slaw. Service by charming smartly dressed young ladies. Plenty of attention for my wife and l asking lf all OK etc.nice beer garden entrance and restroom facilties clean new. Cannot fault it. Continued trip well fed and content.

Food and service very good, family birthday for 8 people ,didn't have to wait very long for delicious freshly cooked meals and a free ice cream for the birthday boy. Highly recommended !!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for late review, my friend and i had lunch and it was not good. I ordered the pork chop with egg and chips. When it arrived it was very very well done and it came with the fried egg and mashed potato?? My friend had the curried cod and although she said the cod was nice the curry that was with it was poor.

This is a lovely family run pub. The landlord and lady obviously putting money back into the place and making an effort with the garden and kids play area. Food is good fresh cooked food. It's so nice to have a good local pub at last. Lovely staff. Nice feeling to the place. Love coming here for meal and my little girl loves the play area.Reasonably priced food.Only complaint I would have is it could do with a few more veggie options please.

Great for lunch - nice baguettes - freshly made - the chicken one is delicious - nice surroundings and good puddings - jacket potatoes look lovely too -

Went to Annes arms fri night for a meal really good food enjoyed the few hours we were there,we went back on sat for a party they were having for the queens birthday we went up to the bar and the landlord came over and said we forgot to pay our tab on the friday night "we didnt have a tab we paid cash" he said ok but all night him and his wife ignored us we felt terrible so we left and went to burgwallis ...had a great night.

We called into this pubs beer garden with our two dogs and teenage son for some lunch as it was half way on our road trip. The service was excellent from the friendly staff,the food was delicious and was with us very quickly and the garden is a gem. If we are ever passing again or in the area we will definitely return.
