called here for a Friday afternoon lunch a very nice and relaxed atmosphere the staff are very friendly and polite the food was very nice and reasonably priced I can highly recommend this place

Very nice,the food smells yummy,,staff very nice and friendly,fair prices, an older lady was eating when one of the staff noteist, she was have a mini fit or something,the staff was there looking after her, i could not fault the staff,,and after the foods finished music and a few shandys

A great place with a good menu and a snooker table. Classic car meet once a fortnight. Happy friendly staff. Reasonably priced food and has bingo and a quiz.

DOG FRIENDLY. Homemade pie was fabulous. Steak was cooked well done but wasn't burnt or dry qt all. Great price for the quality. Lovely coffee too.

What a great place to relax! The atmosphere is so welcoming and friendly. They even welcome dogs, which is a huge plus for me. I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a nice place to enjoy a drink. Cheers!

Licking the floor would have had more flavour than the carvery. Nothing seasoned, cauliflower was raw and needed a stihl saw to get through it. Mash was like murky pond water. Then we got pudding. Chocolate sponge and custard. What a joke. More flavour in a bottle of Buxton. Custard was like water. Chocolate sponge was tasteless.

Lovely food, friendly helpful staff plus dog friendly to!

Stayed on a stopover in our motorhome, staff very friendly and helpful, Nat and Paige who work behind the bar, beautiful young ladies who were so nice. Food very very good and a good price would come again just because of the friendly atmosphere.

The service from the staff is very efficient but still making you feel extremely welcome. The Sunday carvery is THE BEST we've had in a long, long, time! It's that good we come from Lincolnshire to go, but it is worth it! The desserts are sooooo good, unfortunately! Everything is fresh and hot, with a continuous refresh of everything. We can not fault anything one bit....just a bit of advice though.....wear something loose or elasticated at the waist! 😉 (Party of 10, table 26!)

Took my mother for Sunday lunch on 18th. Walked in and it was busy, but we were still greeted with a smile, and the bar staff were very organised and welcoming. We were shown our table and straight away I tipped the table knocking it with my knee and drinks went flying.. what an entrance. I asked for a cloth but the lady refused and said she'd clean it up, not my job to do that. I apologised for the carnage I made. She straight away seated us at a new table replaced my drinks and began to clear my mess. I felt like such an idiot, but with no fuss, she defused the drama and we continued lunch. The food was lovely. I'm a greedy lad so asked for all meets which the staff on the food counter happily obliged asking if it was enough.. then it was down to me to top up my plate with the assortment of veg & spuds... I wasnt disappointed. My mother can be a fussy eater at times but again, she was equally satisfied... after they offered dessert.. its part of your meal price, but I had to decline as I was so stuffed.. long story short... job done. Was a lovely Sunday lunch with a lovely atmosphere and staff.

Burghwallis pub is our local pub and we go every week. The food is absolutely amazing and the portion sizes are great. Choice of drinks are fab. Carvery is to die for and the puddings are so so good. Would 100% recommend.

Had a fantastic time, very friendly staff and customers. Food was lovely too. Karen the bar lady was so friendly and accommodating. She went above and beyond to make us fell welcome. Also nelson the chef was a lovely young man. Overall very pleased.

Carvery here was absolutely delicious. It's also very spacious seating, so you don't feel claustrophobic or have to hear others eating. Staff here are also super nice and friendly. Highly recommended.

Great food and drinks, reasonably priced, good atmosphere, and friendly staff. I went for the five bean spicy Mexican burger and it was delicious. For my next visit I'm going to try the mixed grill.

Came today for lunchtime 2 for £22, had hunters chicken and lasagne. Really good sized portions, and both dishes were packed with meat and was very tasty, home made chips as well, which is a bonus. Food ,staff and surroundings all excellent, will definitely be back.

Sadly someone put down that the pub was closing and no longer would let motorhomes stay overnight. We asked the Landlady's mum and she knew nothing about it The site is flat so its great parking, we were asked if we needed EHU but we didn't They just asked us just to have a drink for parking up which we did .I didn't have anything to eat but hubby did say portions were large and couldn't eat it all. The locals were very friendly. as were all the staff .If we are in the area again I will go back A Great place and so quiet I had a good nights sleep reat place

Visited Burghwallis pub this lunch time. never been before, but my brother lives in a village near by so seemed a good idea to grab a carvery on our visit through... wasn't disappointed... from staff meeting you as you entered the pub, to the waiting staff along with bar tenders and carvery staff... all so friendly and welcoming... Then came the carvery... OMG!! I'm a big meat eater... WOW this guy was after my own heart. plate a plenty and at one point thought I was defeated ... but only at one point... don't like wasting good food. and that's exactly what you get here! very happy today 😊 👍

Thought the carvery a tad on the cool side however thoroughly enjoyed it. A pudding included in the price was an added bonus. Really good food and price.

Just returned from a lovely lunch at the Burghwallis where the majority of nain courses are 2 for £20. Losts of choice and great value. Staff great, which makes all the difference, and not covered in tattoos!!. Must give the Sunday lunch a try as it sounds good

We thought it was ok for a carvery, and tables were cleared quickly of used plates and orders for the free puds taken.

Recently moved near to this fabulous pub. Just gave Steak night a try and we were not disappointed. The food here is excellent. Proper home cooked with great service from the staff

1st drink every in this pub as just moved to the area. Served with a glass that had been used!! Watched how it had beer lining inside of the glass....clicky bar. Won't be back, glad I did not have food

Lovely home cooked grub. Proper chips, not frozen. Free stay overnight if we ate. Quiet night. Glad to give them custom at this quiet time. Just off the a1 so very convenient.

Went there for a Christmas dinner just to be ripped off £680 for them to serve absolutely shocking quality food, cold and awful minging dinner that wasn’t worth £85 per person!! Should be ashamed

Tasted like dirty bum, I feel ashamed but also robbed.

I've supported this place for years, but on Christmas day they dropped the ball big time, and hustled a full room of unhappy folk on Christmas day. £85 per head,2 hour waiting times between starter and main, allegedly a 5 course meal, first course was prosecco, that's not a course. Last course was a mince pie and coffee that's also not a course, false advertising on a 5 course meal. Appalling and embarrassing food. Soup came out cold, main came out with dry turkey and chewy beef with a horrific portion sizes, dessert just all store bought cheap food. People disgusted with the service, the owner dancing to the bank after a lucrative day. The plan was high profit margins with a cheap layout to give poor service at a high price, that meal had never seen £85, a shabby 3 course meal with prosecco and mince pies. That's not a 5 course, daylight robbery should be dubbed the Grinch of Christmas or the new conman of Doncaster, goodbye I've lost respect for that establishment.

We are so upset that we payed so much money and the Christmas Dinner was so bad cold frozen rubbish understaffed we had to wait over an hour between courses the pub should of not took peoples money for the worst dinner ive tasted it was just a way of making them earn a profit disgusting you should be ashamed

Hello, I have just had a Christmas dinner at your pub which has cost us £680 as there was 8 of us. £680 dinners that was less than average because your SUNDAY DINNER is a lot a lot better than the food you have served today. The started, the main and everything else was absolutely terrible. Christmas should be a magical time of a year especially when you’re paying £85 per person. I felt sorry for your staff as there wasn’t even enough of the staff to served people which made them really rushing about. There also was people who was sat waiting to have their main meals while other tables were on their desserts and we was the table that was waiting for their main dish while others were sat on their dessert. If you’re charging people £85 per person you should be giving the service for the price. The portions of the meals were absolutely shocking and all. I’m extremely upset and disappointed you guys have ripped every single person off who have paid for today “ 5 course meal” because the food you have served wasn’t worth £85 and I know I’m not the only person who’s has complained. You should be ashamed

Dropped in on my own just as the pub was finishing their Sunday dinner service. Wasn’t expecting to be able to get any food as I thought it was too late in the afternoon. However the manager and staff were very kind and provided me with a dinner. Very nice. Friendly team. Thank you.

Not as good as usual. Food was cold and after a long wait for pudding was told they had run out of custard so had to make more, yet that was cold too. Obviously had forgotten about us.

Excellent hospitality and a very good Sunday carvery. The bonus was the dessert I wasn't expecting. Would definitely return again.

Been for 2 adult meals and 2 children's was over priced for what we had £45 for scampi and chips twice. £7 for 4 chicken nuggets and chips. Shall not be going there again. Definitely not worth the money.

Really impressed with the friendly welcome and service. Excellent lunchtime menu 2 meals for £20:00 my wife had hunter’s chicken and I had lasagna really enjoyed them.

Always loved this place but not eaten here for quite a while and I won;t again for a long time too ! still love the place but the Chilli I had would not have been enough for a 3 year old !

We called here on our date afternoon/night after searching for good local food and we wasn’t disappointed, we both had creamy garlic mushrooms as a starter and minted lamb chops as our main. The creamy garlic mushrooms were amazing, absolutely beautiful and the minted lamb chops, again amazing, I was only expecting one lamb chop but we got 3 each, certainly will be back here, and potentially will be looking at holding our wedding reception here, staff were extremely polite and friendly, and welcoming, friendly local atmosphere

Good pub food and service with a smile.

We've been coming to the Burghwallis ever since it went from a Working Men's Club to a Pub (around 1989) so it has obviously got a lot going for it. Loads of parking, excellent food and attentive Staff. We have never tried the Steak Night on a Wednesday until yesterday (2 Steaks and all the Trimmings and a bottle of House Wine for £32.00). The food and wine were excellent and very enjoyable, as always the Staff were friendly and helpful and we had a pleasant dinner before returning home to watch Bake Off! The only downside was my wife found the room too hot, a log burner was belting out heat and the temperature was well into the twenties. We'll have to pick a table further away from the Log Burner on our next visit. Thanks to all concerned

Jus back from a lovely meal with friends at The Burghwallis Pub. First time visiting but not my last. The staff are really friendly and welcoming, the pub has a homely feel, and the food is excellent.

Quite frankly the food was overpriced and not up to standard more like transport cafe food won't be eating here again.

Great country pub. Fantastic menu with lots of choice . Kids meals for £1 deal is great. This is available with per adult meal purchased. Doggy friendly so nice for the pooch to join . Also previously had Sunday carvery …lovely ,great choice with a dessert included .

Excellent service we were seated straight away and young lady came over to take the order at the table which was nicely set and clean the heating was on as well so lovely and comfortable. We had garlic Mushrooms and hot rolls for starters & Mixed Grill cooked perfectly nice & hot steaks where cooked perfect just as ordered what is very rare nowadays

Fabulous pub to stop. Very welcoming, clean and friendly. Unfortunately, no food Sunday evening but I’m sure it would have been excellent. Would advise a stop here if you are near whether parking for the night or not.
