5 of us had a meal last night, all 5 of us love our food especially my 2 Grandsons, we were not disappointed, the food was great and very good size portions, service was first rate

Sunday lunch was great, accommodating for children. Good portions and quality food. Highly recommend the sticky toffee pudding! Everyone lovely and welcoming, they made an effort with halloween decorations which my little one liked. Obviously quite busy so took a little time for ordering etc but we weren't in a rush so wasn't a problem, food was served fast enough.

Must say we’ve been twice now to the ship for food can’t fault it one bit, ex service,lovely food and plenty of it, we will definitely be going again.

We have had meals from the 'Light Bites' menu this lunchtime. The Ship is clean and very well set out. The entrance and facilities are disabled friendly, there is a ramp at the main entrance. The service was spot on and not at all intrusive. We had one Lasagne and one Chilli and we both commented on how beautifully tasty our homemade meals were. Presentation, accompaniments, and portion sizes were spot on. We both had the treacle sponge desert with custard, which was beautifully flavoursome and the sponge was so light. Certainly great value for money and highly recommend. 10/10 today.

Slow service. Took an hour to get our steaks. But they were amazing. Great portions.

A very welcoming and friendly environment, Philip and Sean are great hosts, the food was excellent, and very good menu, plenty to choose from, and all home made - we would recommend the Steak Pie, Boston Beef or the Beef Chili.

Very mediocre, gammon with no choice of egg or pineapple, roulade served frozen solid, had to ask for desert, used to go regular before it changed hands! Unfortunately will not be returning! Way over priced for the servi and quality given

Lack of Vegetarian options. Sunday lunches small, took 40 mins to arrive and beef very tough. We tried to order deserts and were told the table was booked and we couldn't order. Left disappointed not to return.

The staff are lovely, very helpful, plenty of choice on menu, without spending a fortune, everything is cooked to order and is homemade, and you're not rushed out the door when finished x

Found this place on a stopover app for motorhomes. Rang ahead to see if they could accommodate a very large van(8.5m) which they said they would. Carpark is small but out of season so quiet and we got in okay. All the staff and landlady, Kelly, were very helpful. Food was excellent and very good value. Not alot to do in Bantry, but as an overnight stop, highly recommended.

What a great find in Bawtry. Food was great, service amazing and the playlist topped it all off nicely ! Really friendly and attentive owner. Nothing was too much trouble. Will definetly be back

Sunday lunch was amazing, the beef was melt in the mouth and the gravy rich and definitely homemade. All the vegetables were fresh and perfectly cooked save room for pud they are amazing

Popped in for lunch on Monday, first time I’ve been in since it has been taken over. On the first approach the deco was lovely and very vibrant so was quite excited. The pool wasn’t busy at all only eight people in there eating. Myself and my friend ordered food arrived at 2.50 Almost told I would be a small weight on food, which wasn’t a problem. I ordered cottage pie and my friend ordered fish and chips after asking after an hour and 10 minutes when my food would arrive a young gentleman said they just plating it up now. 20 minutes later, still no food asking where my food is I got the same reply from a female member of staff. They’re just plating it up now. I was losing the live after an hour and 35 minutes waiting for a cottage pie. It finally arrived after an hour and 20 minutes plus my cottage pie was basically a bowl of mince sloppy mince with peas and cheese on the top for £15.50 my friend meal was okay. Such a shame the deck looks great. The staff seemed okay but won’t be returning. The food was below average and it’s a shame I used to visit on a regular basis. There’s plenty of places to eat out in Doncaster and lots of competition. I don’t think you can afford to put cottage pie in your menu to be served in a bowl with sloppy in some peas and call it a cottage pie, such a shame won’t be returning. Good luck to them they will need it.

Came in for a quick dinner tonight, food and service were excellent

First time visit! The food service was terrible! We arrived 255pm, and finally served our food 1hr 35min later. No rush.

Had an incredible meal they catered for 9 people the food came out together piping hot and most importantly delicious. Service was phenomenal and will definitely be returning again soon.

First time we have been since new management took over. Friendly welcoming staff. Food was excellent. Service was good. Will be back soon.

Moved to Bawtry two months ago and got round to visiting tonight. Gorgeous food, we had the pie and lasagna and the portions was huge!! Great value! The drinks was really reasonable and the white wine was lovely! We will be back!!

We have been to the Ship today for Sunday lunch. The food was absolutely fantastic. The service was excellent, the young man and young lady that were serving today were brilliant. The managers are very welcoming and the Ship is dog friendly and our dog Harvey loved the attention. Well done guys we will definitely be back.

Shame they had issues with the gas supply...but it wasn't an emergency as they knew they had the issue beforehand and we weren't well informed of the problem.

I've just had lunch here and it was sooo delicious I had to leave a review. The soup of the day was mushroom and garlic with warmed bread and butter and then we had homemade chilli con carne with a wonderfully crispy tortilla and fish and chips 😋 Congratulations to the chef and whoever is the owner. Great staff and such a beautiful place! Highly recommend ^^

New owners,new decor,menu has changed, but I was unable to eat my meal owing to how salty it was.

Called to see if there was any tables and we were accomodated with no question. The new owners were more than friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The food was excellent and I'm perplexed as to why this establishment isn't busier. It should be crammed to the rafters and we will definitely be back. Thank you

Great pub serving great food. Dog friendly too. Large portion sizes and served by staff who obviously love working there. So friendly and welcoming and we were given a bowl of meat for Milo as they had no dog treats left. Thoroughly recommend.

Just popped in on the way home for some dinner. All the staff are really friendly and helpful and the food is second to none. I had the lamb shank and it was probably the best lamb shank I've ever had. And the roast potatoes were delicious with creamy mash and seasonal veg. Highly recommend going

We were curious and a little apprehensive about going knowing it had changed hands, but we given a warm friendly welcome and the food was brilliant. Thanks very much for making our girlie lunch a very pleasurable one we will definitely be back. Keep up the good work folks you are amazing.

wow was not expecting this, passing through stopped for lunch and wow Sunday roast was amazing, big portions, good quality and reasonable pricing and the hosts were so welcoming, wish this place was on our doorstep.

Obviously new landlords you could see by the decor. Very friendly welcome we had dogs with us. Unfortunately the food didn't live up to expectations. We were told the plates were very hot and to be careful. In actual fact they were stone cold. The jacket potatoes were hardly warm. Had barbecue chicken and cheese filling. Much to my amazement it was not barbecue chicken it was cold chicken chunks smothered in some sauce which wasn't even a barbecue sauce. It was nicely presented and would have been good value if it had been what the menu said. We also had a prawn mayonnaise jacket potato but unfortunately that potato was also cold but plenty of filling.

This is the first time my wife and I along with the brother in law and his wife have been to the ship and it will not be the last, the food was plentiful and piping hot with a good selection for your Sunday dinner and all the staff were very tentative and pleasant for all your needs . keep up the good work everyone, see you soon. New Management and seem to be struggling when it gets busy. The menus are a bit limited and 2 Courses for £15 looks good but it's the light bite with small portions. Food quality was ok but soup which was Leek and potatoes had a skin on top after being left standing. There were 8 of us with an advanced booking and we arrived 5 mins early. The bar service was non existent and the joint manager/ waiter stated order drinks now or I might be stuck in the next room causing a wait. He was true to his word and he served soup then 20 minutes later our food came. 45 minutes later he cleared the table and 10 minutes later he served the desserts. The bar was poorly stocked with one cask ale and limited choice of other drinks. There were only a couple of Gin glasses meaning alternatives had to be used. The menus were confusing and the blackboards have now been superceded with wallpaper of a flamboyant style. This complimented by an ornate folding screen and gold painted retriever of life size proportions. The decor is as confusing as the menu as it seems a mismatch to what was a local ale House but now seems to be leaning towards a wine bar which Bawtry already has a plenty. I hope the new management realise and redirect as its never going to be a restaurant and the place isn't class enough for the wine faithful . Serve quality vfm hot food and provide 3 cask ales /ciders and watch the drinkers return.

Friendly attentive staff. Nice turkey but roast vegetables were undercooked. Ladies bathroom door ,tap and pub ceilings could do with renovations. I would return and give 5 stars if improvements are made . Good prices in comparison with other local businesses.

Definitely not service with a smile! Sue is downright rude! Food was either burnt or rock solid. 4 meals ordered and all disgusting. Were given 20% off but wont be returning.

I’ve been lots of times and food lovely and staff friendly, however the last two visits have been uncomfortable having been all but asked to leave! This evening despite it only being just past 8 pm I was given the impression the waitress didn’t want me to have the hot chocolate I ordered. Then at around 8.20 pm, despite my glass of water being half full and my friend’s glass having some drink left in it, plus some in the bottle it came in, the waitress came over and asked if we’d finished! As she was taking them she said they’d be closed by 9. We took the hint and left, sitting in the car park until my friend’s husband came to collect her. I’ve never felt so uncomfortable in a pub/restaurant before and for that reason it will definitely be the last time I visit!

We met our holiday friends here today and what a lovely experience - the staff were really nice and didn’t rush us at all as we sat chatting and catching up - the food was very tasty and well presented - we chose off the ‘ senior’ menu and it was perfect and then we all had a yummy desert - we will definately meet up there again after Christmas - thank you so much 🍽️🍷🥂xxx

Decided to come here for Sunday lunch, was impressed with the quality of food. Meat was delicious. Would come again sometime.

I ordered cheeseburger and chips. The burger was nice enough but I only got 8 chips. Seriously, 8 chips! When I asked for more they said no, when I said how disappointed I was they promised to “let the chef. Know”. Fat lot of good that is to me! 8 chips, I’ll never forget it.

We popped in on spec having been recommended, we were not disappointed, the welcome was warm, the blguibess perfect and a fabulous selection of food available on both the light bite menu and the main menu board was well balanced with a choice to suit all dietary needs. We chose steak and blackpudding pie with mash and peas together with a fish pie. Both meals were home made, very tasty and well presented. We will be back.

Food was very good. Had a coeliac customer in group who was made very poorly by gluten ingestion even all items were supposedly confirmed as Gluten Free. Be careful if Coeliac.

Favourite place for a great pub meal. Down to earth atmosphere with easy going staff who will chat with you. Great menu and desserts 🍨 Easy parking spaces too.

We visit only occasionally when travelling. The Ship’s menu is huge, the food is served quickly but always tastes freshly prepared. How do they do it. They’re always so friendly.

Very friendly staff. Dog friendly pub. The food was delicious and freshly cooked. Rhubarb and Apple crumble and custard to die for.

Called in for mid week lunch and was not disappointed. Lite bites menu available but we opted for the specials board. Sea bass with crushed new potatoes, asparagus and tomato buerre followed by a home made pud! Lemon meringue and cheesecake. Recommend booking.

First time going to The Ship and the first impression very good, the staff are so friendly . We booked Sunday lunch it was really tasty, good value and the treacle sponge pudding OMG delicious. We booked again a few days later, the landlord, i think he was, had no problem changing a few things around on the menu. I ordered lasanga but wanted new potatoes and salad and was fabulous. We all had a great meal and great service. Thank you definetly will be coming back again and again.

We dropped into the Ship just off the main drag in Bawtry after a long arduous day at the nearby Yorkshire Wildlife Park. The service was friendly and attentive with the food produced in record time which did concern me initially but I needed have worried as it was spot on. The parsnip soup was well thick and filing with two good pieces of warm fresh bread. The fish and chips were decent with nice thick cut fluffy chips. Reasonable value for x2 adult meals a starter and a couple of drinks each. Couldn't manage a dessert but there's always next time.

There were six of us for lunch , three had fish and chips and said it was ok. The rest of us thought our meals were mediocre at best .

Found this gem on the internet as was looking for somewhere half way between our friends and ours . What a find!! Cannot fault anything and totally enjoyed everything. Would highly recommend this place to anyone. Will definitely return.

We had a family party here for 20 people with everyone ordering a meal from the extensive menu. The dessert menu is fabulous with a selection of waffles, crepes and ice cream sundaes as well as a great choice of other homemade desserts. The food was excellent and the service quick, efficient and friendly. I would highly recommend The Ship and will definitely be returning, thanks for looking after us so well.

We have used this place before, which a good indentation of what we were to expect and our expectations were not let down , good service and food , a good midday meal. For a good meal and for excellent and happy service you'll not go wrong.
