The Glasshouse in Doncaster

Long wait for the food but they made us aware of this at the time of ordering. It was a very busy Saturday night. The staff were friendly, and the tables were constantly being cleared and cleaned. Very happy to say the food was well worth the wait, we both very much enjoyed our meals and will be returning to try some other things off the menu. Delicious and very generous portions.

Staff are very helpful. but the food unfortunately was awful... steak had raw fat, and looked to be pan fried or cooked from frozen. The pulled pork tasted awful it had an off taste definitely not bbq.

We visit the Glasshouse for a carvery lunch every Sunday and couldn't disagree more with the review from Taylor C. You only have to look round at all the Reserved signs on the tables, on any Sunday to see how popular it is. Many of these tables are for regulars who come back week after week. To comnent on some of the complaints made; - Donna does not throw meat and veg on the floor, any waste is thrown into containers behind the carvery ready for disposal, it does not go on the floor - The veg is definitely not frozen, it is all freshly cooked - We have always found the staff both behind the bar and carvery extremely friendly We have tried many carveries over the years and this one remains our favourite by far. We've just come home from having a Glasshouse carvery and will be back next week for another one!

Sunday dinner is the best in Doncaster

The first and last time we will be visiting. Firstly my step dad asked somebody if they worked here, the member of staff looked himself up and down and said "well I hope so", he had no way that we could of known for sure as no uniform, no name badge or anything so the fact that he looked at himself as if to say well its obvious, actually it wasn't because he had grey jeans on and a black shirt, it's only his behaviour that made us think he did. Then we went up to the carvery, the way Donna who was serving spoke to us was disgusting. First we were stood there for about 5 minutes whilst she was chucking all the meat and veg on the floor that was surrounding the hot plate, she never said "sorry I'll be with you in a minute" or anything. Then instead of saying "sorry for your wait what can I get for you" her words were "ticket" then "what do you want" and then after she carved the meat stood there with it in her hands and said "well get your plate then" like really?! Are we being served in a prison here or something?! She did the exact same thing to all six of us "ticket" "what do you want" like come on!!! Where is the customer service here. My partner went to the bar to get drinks and he asked for a water, the server gave him a bottle of sparkling water, so he said oh this is sparkling, she took it off him, give him a dirty look and said "erm no it's not" and gave it him back, until my partner pointed to the words "sparkling water" on the bottle. Absolutely shocking experience at this pub and it's safe to say we will not be returning and NOT recommending anybody to visit here. Carvery was all frozen veg also which wasn't even cooked well.

Great pub/venue. Always a lot of people in to prove it.

Just been for lunch and was lovely as always

First time back for myself, my wife and friends for quite some time. It was busy as ever, but bar service was quick. The girls ate in the restaurant and were very happy with the menu and the meals were hot and tasty, under a tenner, so happy ladies. Girls recommend 👌. Boys .......we had beers 🍻

As always excellent, staff, welcoming , food is wonderful everyone loves Sunday lunch we call it family time.

Eaten here a few times and everything we've had has been nice. They have a few specials as well as the normal menu so you're not stuck with the same things if you go regularly. Decent choice of draft lagers/beers so there should be something for most. The place itself is pleasant enough and there's pool and darts too.

Sunday lunch......for vegetarians RUBBISH. I made a reservation for four of us, two weeks prior to going and made sure to advise that I was a vegetarian, the other three in our party werent. I made sure to mention that i have food allergies concerning aubergine and wild mushrooms. I was assured on the telephone, that this wouldn't be a problem to accommodate ( in this day and age!!) When we arrived, the ordering procedure was explained to us, and I mentioned again that I was vegetarian. I was told that the vegetarian option option contained mushroom, so ' it was probably best to avoid that that' I was told there was no mention of my allergy on the booking notes. I was given the option of going to the carvery and getting a plate of veg , as the staff member said ' well, you like veg don't you?' But there was no veg gravy available.........or I could wait until 3pm ( it was 1.30pm at this point) and then I'd be able to order a veg lasagne from another menu. Needless to say, we cancelled our reservation and left . The lad we'd been dealing with thanked us for freeing up another table. No one apologised, or tried to improve our experience and I was made to feel like a nuisance. THIS PLACE IS STUCK IN A FOOD TIME WARP. ITS THE WORST PLACE IN DONCASTER FOR CUSTOMER CARE AND BASIC ATTENTION TO DETAIL. I'd never recommend it. Stay home instead!

We had a pie and pea supper with live entertainment in their large function room. We saw the meals being served in the main restaurant / pub area and they looked great. We had the fixed menu meal with the show and it was lovely. The comedian was Lee Lard (Peter Kay) and he was very, very funny. Just don't go to the toilets while he is on stage 🤣😂. The food was lovely, the service was great and the show was fantastic.

Very poor customer service. Four of us ordered food, only three meals turned up, although we paid for four, the bar manager blaming a computer error. The three of us had finnished our meals, and still waited 20 mins, and still it hadn't turned up. The bar manager just wasn't bothered, he just shrugged it off, we eventually got our money back, and left. Will not be going back.

What an amazing place the food was amazing. We will definitely be back. Lots of choice and tasted amazing. It was a very busy place well worth a visit.

We spent nearly £90 this evening between 4 adults and a baby. We orded our food and waited with a distressed, hungry and tired baby. I litrally and shamfully resorted to feeding my son condiments, ive never seen a baby eat so much tarter sauce in my life. I waited so long i requested a refund and sugested to my parner to get a family bucket from KFC. Upon which the waiter came back to our table an Informed us they where makeing our food next. So we waited. And to my dismay the food was awfull. The Mash potato was lumpy and unseasoned and had no milk. My mix grill tasted like something from witherspoon. Only twice the price. The steak that i requested to be rare not raw seemed to have come from an old cow, Chewy and bland! The home made chips where soggy as if the oil wasnt hot enough. They may as well have boiled them. The salad was the best part off the meal. Unfortunately im not rabit. So bloody disappointed 😞

A family get together just for a catch-up, was made into a special occasion by the most helpful and accommodating staff. They were so helpful. The food was amazing- a hot and cold buffet. The room was warm and welcoming and a large comfortable chair was made available for my ill husband. Can’t praise them enough. Thankyou.

Return visit just to have the Fish Shop Platter again, which is delicious and very reasonable. Friend had a curry which was also excellent. Plenty of drinks choice and great service.

We attended our grandaughters 21st in the function room, the buffet was amazing and the staff couldn't have been more accomodating or friendly I would highly recommend The Glasshouse 🤩

Don't know if this was not a standard night but there were a load of rowdy twenty something's with their tops off sparring in the car park and someone had vomitted all over the floor in the beer garden. Bit off putting ...just had a coke and left 🤢🤮

Was here for a wedding. The function room is a good size & had it's own outside space too which was nice. The food was good - lots of different things on the buffet. The only slight negatives were there was only a couple of toilets so they got busy at times & my friend ordered a drink for the bride for the toast & speeches & she didn't get it until after.

16 of us went for Sunday lunch, pre ordered the meals. Service was good, all meals arrived together which isn't easy for 16. Food was standard pub grub but not complaints from 16 people so hence 4 stars.

I love coming here. So lovely. The people are great, the food is a bit different and the onion rings are to die for. The atmosphere is chilled and it's just great. Always a treat 😊😊

We have not been for food in many years so after reading reviews thought well we will try it for ourselves. The Sunday carvery was amazing so much choice and piping hot. Highly recommend. Thanks to our server Christine who had fab customer service skills and to the chef carving meat who was also very friendly. We will return

Fantastic Sunday Carvery. Plenty of vegetable choice. Lamb & beef were enjoyed by my husband and I. The staff were accommodating. Teriffic overall experience.

Just been for the first time had the cavary for Sunday lunch. The staff & service was very professional & made my wife and i very welcome. Food was out of this world 5 🌟. Would definitely recommend. MR S GORTON

Ordered and waited over an hour for food, half the tables not in use. When complained said I was told it would be an hour which I wasn’t . This is twice now that the service has been abysmal. Such a shame as the food is good but some of the staff don’t care. Two bad experiences sadly means no more visits. Left without dessert as we didn’t want to wait another hour!!!!

Tricky to rate - bar staff were friendly but we're quick to point out that there was over an hour to wait for food - just got big orders in - so we left unfed - perhaps we'll book next time 🤔

Food really tasty can't complain on portion sizes.. service is friendly.. plenty of seating but would phone to book if your wanting food.

We visited the Glasshouse on Monday the 22nd May and not been before we didn't know what to expect. This was a family lunchtime out with 8 off us and including 2 birthdays. The sun was out so it was lovely to sit outside the service was second to none and the meals were fantastic and friendly staff. Would give this venue 10 /10

Lovely pub with friendly staff. The food is varied and delicious. The Sunday carvery is the best in the area. Occasionally they have tribute acts on in the evening. I’ve seen a few of the performers and they are all first class.

Niiiiice Carvery on a Sunday dinner,my choice

We visited Sat lunchtime. The pub was busy but not heaving. We ordered 6 different meals from an extensive and varied menu. We waited. And waited. Almost an hour later, just after we had gone to the bar to enquire if our order had been lost, the meals arrived. Everyone's looked good, with generous portions, except mine. I had ordered jacket potato with prawns at £9+. The potato was quite small and looked overdone. The "prawns" were shrimps and in a small dish served separately from the sauce, with two small pats of butter and a salad covering most of the plate. The potato was lukewarm and tasted stale as if it had been cooked a long time previously and kept warm or reheated. The best part of my meal was the few chips my daughter gave me from her lunch. To be fair, everyone else seemed to enjoy what they had, but between the wait and the jacket potato, I was less than impressed.

Been here today. Placed our food order and waited above an hour for it. Not told that there would be any wait on food. No updates given. Had to ask where our food was. Only one waitress working a busy shift. She deserves a medal!!

Great place, friendly staff and a lovely function room. An unusual mixture of clients from older couples to youngsters and families, great atmosphere, good food and reasonable prices. Well worth a visit.

Excellent food for a fair price with a comfortable atmosphere.

Popped in for a spot of lunch 14/2. Experience was ruined by lack of heating. It is winter you need to put heating on. The warmest part of the place was the small corridor between the front and inner doors, where a heater was blowing. The rest of the Pub had heating from ceiling fans but none of the radiators were on. Note it is winter, people need to be warm, My wife ended up eating with her coat on Stop being mean, you charge enough for food and drink to cover heating IT IS WINTER!!!!

My family have been coming for Sunday Carvery at The Glasshouse for many years so we were greeted with the warmest welcome, and seated in the dining side of the pub (their preferred table). I would recommend booking as they become very busy on Sundays with large party reservations in the function room from around 1pm onwards. This is the first time I've been since pre-covid. Impressive 5 choices of meat; Lamb, Beef, Turkey, Gammon, Pork. I opted for Lamb, as not many places offer lamb on carvery anymore, as you can see I received a generous portion. The lamb had very little fat, which is always a bonus. Side plates are available for yorkshire puds (which I thought was great idea due to them often taking over your dinner plate). There's a good selection of vegetables; carrots, broccoli, green beans, cauli cheese, peas, cheesey leeks, cabbage, mash & roast potatoes. I did feel disappointed that the carrots, broccoli and greens beans were quite mushy, they'd either been over boiled or possibly frozen veggies - couldn't work out which. I personally like my vegetables to have a slight crunch to them still. The gravy was too thin/watery for me also. But all in all an enjoyable meal and clean plate. The atmosphere and service were excellent, staff are friendly & efficient, I look forward to going again.

Nice welcome, friendly. Were advised that we would have to wait for our food, but one hour after ordering, (we had booked a table in advance), was longer than we wanted. When the food arrived it was good.

Ordered :- Rump steak medium/rare and Sirloin very well done. It arrived, the steaks were not cooked correctly the rump was well done and the sirloin was bloody. They brought a hot stone for us to cook the steak more if required however the steak was so bloody it needed cooking loads more even before the hot stone. Anyone who knows their steaks, how they taste, the texture and how the meat looks etc will know if they have the wrong steak which we definitely did, they did not taste right obviously the wrong cut of meat. We asked them to sort it out and bring the correct steaks cooked correctly back to us. They were funny about it brought the chef out said we had the right steaks and went away without dealing with our meals. We raised our query again and then the manager and owner came over said the meal was perfect and they wouldn’t do anything other than recook the rump to medium/rare. But we would have to wait, in the meantime the well done steak (which wasn’t well done whatsoever) they weren’t going to do anything about!!! In the end we asked for our money back but she said no! Then agreed to refund one of the meals only I said but how can I sit here eating while my friend doesn’t we would like a refund to go elsewhere and eat together. She refused. Was rude and said I’ll send over a dish of chips sarcastically. Very Poor customer service. It’s not just about the meal it’s about the whole experience. She was Rude, didn’t listen to what we were saying and was extremely disrespectful. Do not eat here! Anyone who likes a well done steak forget it. I would think carefully before drinking here too knowing the owners are rude and obviously need training on how to deal with customers.

We arrived at about 3pm Wednesday 11th January found a seat and placed a food order at the bar. After about 35 minutes we thought we'd enquire when food might be ready. We were told after a bit of confusion our order had not gone through so the kitchen did not have any order for our food. We left having paid no money for food an drinks and receiving no food. Very disappointing. Exactly the same thing happened last summer. Unlikely I will return

Ordered 2 sirloin steaks medium rare when they were served we both struggled to cut the steaks ( more rare than medium rare )when I tasted mine it was like warm at best they took both plates back and re cooked them they came back medium to well but hot unlike the rest of the good on the plate which was cold worst meal I have had

What an amazing place we met here with other family members there was 18 of us, we wanted a meeting place to enjoy lovely food and that we got. The food was lovely cooked, very reasonable priced. The atmosphere was brilliant as was the staff we will definitely be visiting again 5 *s from us. Nice pub, split into zones inside with eye friendly homely decor also has a good sized car park.....drinks aren't cheap though 🥴 Great place for a catch up 👌🏻

Went on a busy Sunday Lunch time .So had to que for the carvery, but it was well worth the wait. Even had lamb with meat selection 😋 Hard working staff . Will definitely go again.
