I asked for a recommendation, as I tend to when I know I am in restaurants that serve authentic food. I had the chicken wrap with salad and chips. It was fully loaded and tasted amazing. I would go again in a heart beat - and will.

Lovely night as usual. I ordered 2 starters instead of a main but he brought me a double portions of one when my friends got their main! Always generous portions, super friendly service and really great home poked style food. A favourite for me and the gals so we can take plenty of wine at a more affordable price. Corkage is now £5 a bottle of wine but we are all happy to pay as everything else makes it well worth it. I paid £20 for my corkage, 3 starter dishes and a tip. There's often leftovers for the next day which is always a bonus 😜

Great reviews on the website but sadly terrible, unless you're into the flavour of Knor stock cubes. Just watery, salty and bland. Would never know it was supposed to be Morrocan .......

Really poor. Should have realised when even the menu was filthy. Some food was tasty but some was bland. Biggest issue was that the pitta bread was actually mouldy. Waiter apologised but unbelievably the dish wasn’t taken off the bill. Lamb kebab was on the edge of being cooked properly as well. Not a good experience at all and corkage meant that we didn’t even save much for BYOB.

We've been going to this restaurant for a while but tonight was our first visit since the rebrand as La Princesse. Pleased to see it's still absolutely fantastic. The food is brilliant - my chicken starter was as good an entree as I've had in ages, so tender and delicious. The staff are simply fantastic, chatting to us about Algeria and indulging us when I'm sure we were being quite tedious, but more importantly, the value is out of this world. This restaurant deserves to be packed out every single night, it never misses and succeeds in every aspect. Could not recommend more.

I’ve been to this restaurant before when it was Samis and the food seemed much better then. The restaurant has had a refurb but the food quality seems to have declined. Lamb tagine should be tender, flavoursome surely served in a tagine. It was served on a plate ( not a tagine) you had to order sides to go with it I.e the couscous or rice as an extra. The lanb was tough more like mutton. It had a few apricots but it seemed the base was predominantly onions. I make a far better lamb tagine myself. I don’t think I will rush back.

The gentleman serving was us was very friendly and welcoming and perfectly attentive, so that was great. Wine was BYOB which suits us great, but the corkage fee was a bit steep to say that we were given some pretty worn plastic glasses and I actually opened the bottle myself. The tap water glasses were pretty full of dishwasher crud or something - not a big deal but it's never great fun picking floaty bits out of your drink. The starter of the goat cheese pastries with hummus and dips was delicious, very tasty and fresh and full of flavour, good texture on the pastries. We both then had a lamb and pea tagine for the main which was not great. The lamb was a bit leathery and the dish in general was lacking flavour.

Four of us dined here last night we were the only people in the place the whole evening . The food was okay and we had all ordered different dishes We brought our own wine and throughout the evening we had 4 bottles of Red between us. He brought the bill at the end of the evening and there was an Extra charge of £16 when we queried this he told it was corkage charge Unbelievably he charged us £4.00 per bottle.... absolute daylight robbery BEWARE

We went there on Saturday afternoon and was greeted by such a lovely waiter/front of house. Was presented with lunchtime special menu - £12 for 3 courses (though the 3rd course is a side so a little misleading). The food was incredible. I had goats cheese for starter and my husband had the houmous. Both lovely. Then we both had a Tagine for main. One lamb with dates and Apricot, the other vegetable tagine with loads of veg including artichokes. Both delicious. Corkage was £8 for 2 bottles of wine which is very expensive considering the wine glasses we were given were old, scratched PLASTIC wine glasses. Glass wine glasses would be much nicer for that corkage charge. Though this doesn't take away the fact of the gorgeous food and service. Will defo be going back but prob just share a bottle of wine as £4 per bottle corkage is a bit steep! Still highly recommended.

Always enjoyed a cheap nice friendly night out here .... until post covid i can only say with hand on heart (and purse) this has gone thro the roof with new prices. Oh what a shame as food and serivce and prices were always an attraction for such an unassuming eatery in the heart of Chapel Allerton.. I have to say the prices have vastly increased as what once would have been approx £27 early this year ( 1 starter 2 mains) have now gone up to appox £45 for the same type of order. I found this a shock and thought they had given us the wrong bill, but as no other people were in this restaurant i knew it had to be mine . The corkage charge is now £4 a bottle !! So beware if u have 4 bottle of wine between you that be £16 corkage. We did query this but assured it was correct . Also the website does not state how much corkage is on wine ( there are other restaurant in leeds centre that charge £1.50 .. so just be aware ) any bottle of BEERs are charged at 50p per bottle as this IS stated on la princessse website . Overall we had a nice meal but at a cost, so iam affraid we will give this place a wide birth at this time.

We have just had a takeaway from Sami's orders via deliveroo. We've had many a lovely meal here over the years but never tried the pizzas so thought we would have the pizzas. My husband had pepperoni and I had the spinach one. The base on each was doughy and chewy and bland. My spinach was stringy and kept getting stuck in my teeth. It's a good job I'm not a veggie as I found a piece of pepperoni on mine as well. We got a portion of chips as well which had lots of bits of burnt crispy bits in the bottom of it. Overall for a restaurant we love we were very disappointed with the food we received.

I am really perplexed by the recent poor reviews. Last night we had another good meal here. The only complaint was that the chicken dish, there was too much of it! Service is pleasant and very we were not charged corkage, the prices are extremely reasonable and the fish dishes were excellent. While the bathroom facilities are a little old and careworn, they are scrupulously clean. We didn’t want the three course offer because it would’ve been too much for us, however we were given a dish of hummus and pitta to share while waiting for our food, very welcome.

We walked in this place, established they weren’t licensed and at their recommendation we proceeded to the Co-op behind to purchase a bottle of red wine. We returned and were told they had a special offer of 3 COURSES for £12.95. We both ordered a starter and a main course each with a side. In fairness we didn’t really have an issue with the food, but rather their dishonesty. The wine had a £2.00 corkage charge that we weren’t informed about, the wine glasses were tatty plastic things, but the waiter did manage to find 2 glass ones albeit they were different sizes. The cutlery was very old and worn out. When we tried to order our 3rd course, it fell on deaf ears and the bill arrived instead. When we questioned this, we were informed that our sides (Pitta bread and rice) were classed as a course. They had rounded the £12.95 up to £13.00 and denied us our 3rd course unless we paid for it. On arrival the waiter 100% told us it’s ANY starter, ANY main course and ANY desert. The place itself is generally lacking in hygiene and the toilets were very grotty indeed. Such a shame the greedy owners pulled a fast one, the food itself wasn’t bad and it not for their little scam, we could well have become fairly regular customers. Their loss in the long run, but principals must prevail here.

Sami's is simple. Its great flavours at great prices. Vegetarian options are fantastic. The falafel is amazing, so too the humus. The smells that come from the stone oven infuse the whole restaurant and it's a pleasure. It's not very big so you can be quite close to other groups, which if they are a loud group can be a little annoying but the smiles our food was brought with more than compensated. We visited Sami's recently for the first time in several years and were pleased to find that it hadn't changed. Sure, it's not a fine dining experience. The decor is basic, although it's perfectly comfortable and it's bring your own wine (no problem). We've always found the staff to be friendly and pleasant the atmosphere is always relaxed. The food is fairly standard Moroccan fare, falafal, humous, couscous and tagines. It's all decent and tasty without ever being outstanding - but at these prices it's a steal. On this Passion we had two courses each and we walked away having paid £35 (including the wine we bought in the Chapel Allerton Co-op). My chicken tagine was pleasant and the humous I had to start with was good. True, I've had better bread, but it was perfectly acceptable. All in all a good experience.

Definitely the place to go for tasty Moroccan/ middle eastern cuisine in Leeds. I go around three four times a month with friends and family as it offers very good food at incredibly good value. There offer a four course special which is basically a starter..main dish..side dish and dessert for an incredible price given that the portions are huge and delicious . They don't serve alcohol but allow you to bring your own cans and bottles . I highly recommend the bourak, hummus, falafel, harira soup, brikes, briouats with seafood for starters.. the pizzas cooked in the clay oven are stunning for mains or go for traditional fare such as the couscous royal, or any of the tagines ..all are delicous..I've never had the fish dishes for mains so cannot comment on them but friend had the tuna and said it was tasty. The side dish I normally go with is the potato dauphinoise or salad and dessert for me is either a creme brulee or chocolate cake. The owners are brilliant guys..and the waitresses are polite too though the regular one who was a little diamond recently left to start life as a uni student. All in all..a gem of a place that I will visit as long as I am welcome and is perfect for groups, couples, families and I suppose you Billy no mates too. The owners haven't spent a fortune on the decor only then to pass it on with high prices but they let the food do the talking and to be honest the place is a cosy inviting establishment and extremely good value for money.

Food was good, typical Moroccan fare, shame Tagines are served on the plate not in their cooking pots, although I suspect that is quite a good idea to avoid burns ! Service was OK although as it was busy there were a number of longish waits between courses and for bill. Good value for money. It's better than "average" but not quite "very good".

Sami’s is in the row of shops opposite Chapel Allerton Library, and has been at this location for a long time. It used to be a strange combination of day-time greasy spoon and Mediterranean restaurant. Now there is a limited Middle Eastern lunchtime menu, with various ‘specials’ at inexpensive prices. The interior is looking extremely down-at-heel in my opinion, it’s a very long time since the place was decorated. Service is perfunctory, friendly, but not great, and extremely slow. The lunchtime menu gives about a dozen choices, and I decided to try the falafel. This is only £2.95, which includes a can of pop (no glass in my case). I was soon to find out that you get what you pay for. When my food eventually arrived, it was unlike any falafel I have seen before, looking like the fried objects supermarkets try to pass off as onion bhajis, and sandwiched between two pitta breads. It was absolutely swimming in grease. With the sandwich comes a small amount of hummus, some lebheh (thick yoghurt), and some lettuce and red onion. The sandwich looked pretty disgusting, and tasted of old fat, which soon formed a sizeable puddle on my plate. The two mouthfuls I had were disgusting, and I paid and left. I felt ill all the way home, and on getting in, I lost what little of the food I’d eaten. I know that others have been very complimentary about the evening food at Sami’s, but based on my experience of the food served at lunchtime, I really would not recommend it.

So we enquired & booked mentioning it was our anniversary. WE arrived a little early & got such a nice welcome. The young lady that looked after us all night remembered us & our reason for the visit.I think her name was Asha (maybe Sasha ). We had enjoyed some wine when she told us so not sure)Nothing was too much bother & everything was explained to us. The food was gorgeous, main course was enormous . It is Bring your own wine. Asha explained that she was the only waitress that could serve the wine as it was against the other girls religion. We will be back. 14.95 for 3 courses on a Saturday night & great food & service. THey do charge £2 per bottle corkage but most restaurants charge a minimum of £16.95 a bottle so this made for a very cheap night out.

Four courses for £15 a head is not to be sniffed at in any event so we gave Sami's a try recently. For starters we shared houmous which came with Pitta, this was a simple dish but the houmous was tasty. I had a Bourek which was like a Moroccan spring roll. It was absolutely divine and came with a bit of salad and a splodge of houmous and chili sauce, highly recommended! For mains we choose a lamb tagine with peas and lemon and a side of couscous and a Sami pizza which had moroccan meatballs and chicken with a side of chips. Firstly the tagine was excellent I was really impressed the meat was tender and the sauce flavorful though not as lemony as I would have expected. My pizza was spot on loaded with toppings and nice and thin we were so full we took half of it home. The chips were a tad on the greasy side but given the quality of the rest of the food it made no difference to me. Next up dessert which i asked to be wrapped up but was misunderstood and it got delivered to the table. I had chosen lemon cheesecake which was really delicious, I might be speaking out of turn here but I suspect its not home made however was still genuinely really nice (I'd order it again) My husband has a piece of baklava, now this was probably the low point of the meal as actually the piece of Baklava was tiny and it wasn't particularly crispy which we personally like in a Baklava, the flavor was good but we would not choose this dessert again. They are BYOB too with a modest £2 corkage fee. All in all this was a really enjoyable meal it was affordable the atmosphere was nice and its on my doorstep so we will definitely be back.

Deal very good value with 3 courses included. Only letdown was the vegetarian option that did not include rice. A shame because all the meat options were better value. Service slow on a Saturday night - they all worked hard- perhaps extra help in the kitchen would not have gone amiss

I went last night to Sami's with a friend. I haven't been for a while because it's always been fairly basic. However they seem to have had a bit of a refurb..it still has an authentic feel but they have installed a wood burning pizza oven and revamped the menu. I think it's worked! The value of the 'meal deal' last night was amazing. Starter, main, side and dessert for £14 each?!! That's crazy!! The quality of the food was great..really tasty, well cooked and better than my previous visits over a year ago. The portions are ample and we could not finish all of our main courses. But there was still a little room for dessert! It's BYO and they charge £2 corkage per bottle so we were in there for 2 hrs and our bill was only £32!!! The service was excellent. There is a young girl working in there and she is a credit to the restaurant. Always happy to help, so polite and ran around like a headless chicken looking after all the (full) tables all evening. I'd employ her in a heartbeat. All in all a very good experience. It's dropped a point because they use plastic wine glasses and I think the crockery/cutlery could do with being replaced (something terracotta would finish the place off nicely!) However this is an authentic Moroccan restaurant..not the Ritz so I'm not letting that stop me returning. Well done Sami's..keep it up!

Went for lunch for Mother's Day. Food and service both great as always! Shame that the pizza oven wasn't on but it was a limited lunch service after all. Still plenty to choose from and you can't go wrong with 4 course for £14.95. Huge portions - too much for lunch really. But fantastic flavour as ever.

4 courses for £13.95, we had falafel and prawns to start and a lamb tagine to die for. Brought our own wine and had excellent service from the owner - a real must do. We will go back.

Can't say the same about the food. The pitta bread was like it had been microwaved and the fish tagine was watery. I did however like the spicy grilled chicken :)

I went to this place when I was visiting a friend. There was an awful lot of choice of places to eat but we fancied something different. I'm really glad we tried it. The waitresses were lovely and there was a great offer on of 3 courses and a side for £15 each. The food was really delicious. It has a BYOB policy which makes the night even cheaper. They are very welcoming. It isn't the fanciest looking place but the food is authentic and amazing. We had a really nice night there and took our dessert home because we were stuffed. Can't wait to go back again!

We came for a meal with freinds, as we walked in it was busy which is always good to see, we were seated upstairs, and it was freezing we sat in our coats it was that cold. This is not a morrican restaurant food was very poor I had bourek was flavourless and for a main I had couscous royale which again was flavourless not been seasoned at all the chicken was as dry as the Sahara. And becareful if you bring a bottle the owner will charge you £2 per bottle, and they hid that as it was on the front of the menu, but as we all sat down the menus was already open, and she took.the menus away off us, so we was unaware. And the owner was rude and obstinate. And we weren't told that it was cash only, I wounder why!!!If you want proper Moroccan food go to Leeds market, there is a cracking place although not a restaurant but it's proper cooked flavoursome yummy food called Cafe Moor their bourkes are to die for. Seriously don't bother going save your money and go else were, even if it's McDonald's it's better than this place, might consider opening my own Moroccan restaurant, it be a dam better everytime.

Great meal experience. Randomly walked past this restaurant not knowing exactly what we were in the mood for. So glad to find this Moroccan themed restaurant serving wood fired pizzas. We had a great meal deal on offer 4 courses for under £15!!We ordered moroccan tea, delicious. Then lamb skewers and a cod bourat to start. Then a lamb tagine with apricots and a parisienne pizza. Then baklava for dessert. So filing. So delicious! Such good value for money. But most of all service from the staff was excellent. We will be back !

The service here is fantastic - we are always made to feel welcome by a friendly face. The food is very good and loving the new pizzas on the menu. The best thing about Samis is the value - was £12.95 for 4 courses - tell me where else you get value like that in Leeds! Our most recent visit saw that the price has gone up slightly to £14.95 for 4 course but justifiable if you ask me.

We had a light dinner of hummus and pizza. The hummus was homemade and the pizza was the best I've had in England. It's made fresh and cooked in a wood oven. Everything else on the menu looked good. The service was friendly, and we were even given a complementary order of chips. Right in the heart of Chapel Allerton, which makes it very convenient.

Tonight I ordered in, and can say I was very unhappy with the 1hr 25mins it took for my food to arrive it was Luke warm at best..as I see from other reviews it isn't just a one off on the time it takes, so I would say go eat in as it so so much nicer..and hotter. It won't stop me eating here as I love the staff, atmosphere and food :-)

Others rave about this place but have now been 3 times and have been disappointed every time - bones in chicken dishes, prawn shell bits still on. Taste is ok but presentation and meal content need some attention. Won't be going again ever - we did give it a fair crack of the whip after the recommendations of others.

I had a family meal here mid-week. We shared hummus to start with some freshly made bread. Unfortunately my main of filo stuffed with spinach and feta was quite dry and obviously not freshly made. I would highly recommend the baklava for dessert though! There was no alcohol on the menu but you can bring your own bottle.

I bring people here regularly as I love the food so much! It's £11.95 for a starter, main, side and desert on a weekday, and the same deal for £2 more on a weekend! What a bargain! The food includes tagines, grilled meats (lamb skewers, spicy grilled chicken), fish, pizza and calzone. Sides to suit everyones taste here too - I'm a big fan of getting grilled chicken and lamb with dauphinoise potatoes, but the fish is also amazing :)The pizza oven is a fairly new addition so I've yet to try a pizza/calzone as I'm tempted by everything else every time!Massive portions, I always end up having a doggy bag, which they're more than happy to do.Oh, and it's bring your own wine - £2 corkage, well worth it! Many a boozy weeknight/Saturday meal has been had here and they're always so welcoming to our rowdy bunch of ladies! Will continue introducing people to this little gem, as I don't think I'll ever tire of it!

My boyfriend and I haven't had Moroccan in a while so we decided to try this restaurant. I'm so glad we did! The driver delivered our food on time and even found our house (which is in a pretty difficult location!) The food was simply amazing. Great portions, great price and fantastic flavours (we got a starter, main course and side dish for £10). I'd go as far to say it' our favourite take-away we've had in Leeds. We haven't been able to sit in the restaurant yet but it looks great from the outside so will definitely be eating in sometime soon. Thanks so much!

I like the cafe-style, no frills approach of Sami's Morrocan restaurant. It's a bring-your-own booze place with a small corkage charge. Plenty of meat and fish tagines, plus an extensive 'real' pizza list (what would unreal be?). The Couscous Royale was a bit safe being mainly a mixed grill with plain couscous but nicely spiced. Lamb tagine with apricots and prunes, and the fish tagine, were both tangy, rich and delicious. Would have liked some flatbreads. Service a bit slow because busy, but friendly. Very good value!

Unique in the sense of finding an authentic Moroccan restaurant in a suburb, which must be very rare indeed! The food is authentic, tasty, plentiful and great value: we went midweek for £12 for 3 courses (OK, it's starter and main plus a side, but still excellent value) from any dish on the menu and we left full to burst. The place isn't one for fine dining but somehow that adds to the authentic appeal. Service was fine: it wasn't full but there were a few in and enough to create a decent atmosphere for midweek. Overall excellent for what it is!

Saturday night and 7 of us out for a family dinner. The restaurant was surprisingly busy and had a nice buzz. Perhaps this was why it took so long for us to have our order taken. Our starters included chicken skewers, lamb skewers, falafel and bourak and they were all very tasty and good sized portions. Unfortunately main dishes were not so good! We all had a different dish and there wasn't one that we would recommend. To be in a Moroccan restaurant and have such poor quality tagine (runny, tough meat and lacking taste) was very disappointing. A big plus is that you can take in your own drinks which makes for a cheap night Service ended as it started with us having to go to the till to get the bill as despite repeated requests it was not forthcoming. Overall a quality take away would have been a better experience.

A lovely place that has apparently been there for 14 years. The falafels are to die for! The lamb tagine wasn't as great, but still not bad. I would say it's around average. The lamb was very tough and chewy. The waiter is lovely, he gave us a wee tour of upstairs. It's really nice upstairs. Defo will be going here again! Reminds me of holidaying abroad whilst being at home. Excellent service!
