Oulton Hall Restaurant in Leeds

Fabulous food i was very surprised how great the dinner was. Super great quality. I had the burrata snd then the burger it was so juicy. However the breakfast was more a 3 out of 5.

Thanks for a lovely meal in the restaurant at Oulton Hall. Special thanks to Oliver who was a great laugh! The mains were fantastic! Seabass and duck salad! Would highly recommend. The starters were really good, but the potted crab was a tad runny and my burrata was a little too solid in the centre- still delicious though! Lovely setting and we look forward to returning.

The staff in the restaurant were efficient Sarah and Oliver especially so. They dealt with the situation efficiently and politely.

We had Sunday lunch in the Claret Jug. The service by friendly staff was excellent and the food was well prepared and delicious.

The staff in the restaurant were great; extremely helpful and friendly (Oliver and Harriet especially). This made up for staff working elsewhere in the hotel. Our overall experience of staying at Oulton Hall was disappointing considering how we were treated by reception staff but the dining experience was lovely. We really enjoyed the food: (we both had steak which was cooked perfectly). If anything I would like to see a bit more choice on the menu

We met relations for our first post lockdown meeting for afternoon tea at Oulton Hall. The surroundings are beautiful but the place is clearly understaffed. It was not packed with visitors but there were queues everywhere; at reception, at the bar, etc. The quality of the afternoon tea was really poor especially for a place that advertises itself as a 5 star hotel. Sandwiches were basic and tasteless, scones were very dry, cake was dry, no choice of tea, very slow service. Had to search out staff for cutlery, cream and jam for scones and for a top-up of tea. Other people were also clearly waiting for long periods of time, and sadly the food was not worth the wait. Very disappointed and will just not book again. Felt sorry for the man serving us as he was obviously struggling to get everything done.

We ate at the restaurant when staying a the Hall. It's decor is a open to your interpretation (Dark red and black) ; personally I found it a bit dark and dramatic.The food was superb, sensibly priced and well presented & served.Dinner was a choice of very good options and perfectly cooked.We stayed during Covid and the queues for breakfast were far too long, especially as we had pre-booked a time.Chef cooked a veggie sausage just for me, every day which was appreciated.

Really enjoyed my My Mum’s afternoon tea voucher she’d had bought. Yousef was lovely to us all the staff were so nice to be fair. The sandwiches and cakes are fresh, delicious and plentiful. Lots of lovely hot tea.Really fine drawing room too. Would recommend Oulton Hall. Sorry we didn’t leave a tip!We just brought the voucher !! But we will return!

Just returned from a weekend away at Oulton Hall. From start to finish we were very happy with everything. We were met with a warm greeting, our room was clean, comfortable and well furnished, our delicious evening meal was served by friendly staff and the drawing room and seating areas were beautifully furnished. The hotel is well situated with lovely views across the countryside and there are plenty of things to do in the surrounding area.

Came here for afternoon tea to celebrate my wife’s birthday. I would highly recommend the afternoon tea - good choice and delicious cakes and pastries. Yousef was particular attentive and he even arranged a special gift for my wife.

Slow service. Plenty of staff but they didn’t seem to know what to do! Good food but such a shame it too 3.5 hours for a family meal,

The food is exceptional had the artisan bread served with butter, olive oil and balsamic vinegar to share, wild mushroom soup, rib eye steak, pan fried duck breast, blackcurrant parfait and burnt cream pannacotta with plum sorbet and plum gel. Absolutely amazing gorgeous food with exceptional service couldn't fault it.

what I wouldn’t have given for this today. Swapping a shredded tyre and £175 bill for a bottle of champagne and cakes! We visited @oulton.hall for the #ginafternoontea a few weeks ago. We did add the @perrierjouet rose to complete the afternoon which was perfectly chilled and served by the #headbutler Peter. The sandwiches were full and freshly made, the chicken tikka flatbread added a modern twist to afternoon tea and the scones still warm. There was more than enough for 2 and we even brought quite a few of the cakes home. An @taylors tea goody bag was a lovely touch when we left too. We came here for a meal last weekend and it was fantastic. Service and food were 10/10 and we couldn't be happier. We had the Sirloin and Ribeye, in which both were delicious. Very good service also :)

We had an afternoon tea with a voucher we were gifted. The hall and surroundings were beautiful. The staff were exemplary. We had one vegan afternoon tea and one regular. The food and service were absolutely lovely. Nothing was lacking in the vegan afternoon tea and everything down to the jam had been considered. We were already planning a return trip before we’d left!

Stayed at Oulton Hall while visiting Leeds and as usual decided to eat in the Hotels Restaurant. The Sirloin Steak was cooked to perfection however I am still not sure if it was worth £30.00. The hand cut chips were nice, all 8 of them & the crunchy slaw was different but really nice. The Staff were pleasant & checked in every other minute to check the food was to my satisfaction. Had I enough money to buy a desert I would have given 5 stars.

Booked a group meal here and was really looking forward to it. Waiting staff were very polite and the restaurant is nicely decorated.Menu selection was good. Then it came to ordering. We had to choose deserts at the time of ordering?!? (Group size was 12 so insignificant compared to the size of the restaurant. This is supposed to be a 4 star 'luxury' hotel, yet having to decide on whether we wanted dessert in advance was mandatory. Thankfully I ordered one as the portions were tiny; I've arrived home and now having to raid the fridge.Two of our main meals had added hair; suspiciously similar; about an inch in length and quite wiry so we suspect someone in the kitchen has an unkept beard. We pointed them out to the staff (one was found in one dish before the other was found in another) and they weren't overly bothered!The night was topped off with a long wait trying to sort the bill; a complex affair owing to some people staying and others not. In the end we took charge of the matter ourselves only to discover that most (not just one or two) of the items on the bill were priced differently to the menus; how does that work?All in our I've come home somewhat disappointed by the experience. My own food was nice but the night has been tarnished to say the least.

Delicious Sunday lunch beautifully cooked meat, my hubby had the beef and I had the pork. There was so much of it our lucky dog even got some. Lots of fresh vegetables nice and crunchy Good selection of deserts, cheese board was a bit sparse. Attentive service All in all a good experience.

Possibly the worst service I have ever recieved in a restaurant, when you are paying over £40 for a main meal a coffee and 1 drink you expect something decent. We where staying in hotel so limited options in choice of places to go and it took 2 hours to get served a main meal and a coffee and this was after approaching staff to ask if we could order after being sat for over half an hour with nothing other than water and then a waiter coming back 40minutes later to check how I wanted my steak cooking and then another 20 minutes to receive it. The sirloin I received was very fatty and not what I expected paying £30. The asked for coffee and asked for liquor options as stated on the menu and got told well anything you want really.The waiter also split a full jug of water all over our table, asked if we wanted to move but just stayed put as had just recieved our food.Very very disappointing in a 4* hotel.

The food was terrible and very, very overpriced. We also had to wait a long time for our food. No soft drinks offered on the menu and there was no after dinner menu with coffees. Vegetarian option was the worst of all.

Visited Oulton Hall for the first time with friends and I won’t be returning. We had booked an afternoon tea to celebrate my birthday but it was really disappointing. It took an hour and 20 mins for the food to be served despite booking way in advance. The bread was stale, as was some of the meat inside the sandwiches (like leather as if it had been left out). The scones were so dry that buttering them was impossible, they just crumbled under the knife. The cake selection was assorted to share between the 4 of us, meaning not everyone got their choice. It would be better having individual portions. When I booked I asked if the chives could be removed from the sandwiches and was told it wouldn’t be a problem - it was a problem and they were unable to do it as the egg mayo filling was pre-mixed. Massively disappointed and wouldn’t return. The only positive thing was the waiters who were lovely and couldn’t do enough for us, they just had far too many people to look after between just 2 of them.

Came here yesterday evening on the 24/9/2020 had a bar meal an cocktails, firstly the table was dirty an full of glasses in the end we took the empty glasses to the bar we asked three members of staff if they would clean the table one replied we are short of staff this however is not our problem seriously needs looking at , had fish an chips came to us with no cutlery an the when we asked served us with a bent fork , the cocktails came in the wrong glasses no ice an was such a poor effort, how can such a stunning place get it so wrong , this is not the first time we have bad service at Oulton hall , very disappointing, really needs some one to get this back to where it belongs . Shameful!!!!

Our breakfast was superb and was very tasty. Staff can not do enough for you? Pleasant clean and worthy of a great hotel breakfast

Really tremendous food, well prepared, beautifully presented, excellent service, the staff are friendly and attentive, but not intrusive, we loved eating here, we'll definitely be back.

My family were visiting from Bristol and we wanted to end on a high at a posh restaurant with an experience to remember but at Oulton Hall that WASN'T the case!

Very poor service, would recommend you give this one a miss! Food average but expensive, poor value.

So I'm currently sat in the restaurant at Oulton Hall and I'm THAT disappointed that I'm eager to write my review.

Soweit so gut, das Filet-Steak war befriedigend, Lachs roch stark fischig - Geschmack soweit OK, soweit gute Weinauswahl.

Very nice country atmosphere surroundings Oulton Hall, beautiful gardens. The Drive too was very interesting. The hall itself is well presented and very inviting.

Lovely food and great choice for people will allergy. I’m vegan and gluten free and was able to get three courses of lovely food. Looked beautiful and tasted great. Didn’t give 5 stars as was ordering crumble but I always always double check and found though it was vegan it wasn’t gf even though advertised as gluten free. That could have had nasty consequences for me.

Good atmosphere. Friendly and courteous staff. Starters were very good. Main course, the portion is large. I had Chicken potatoes and Yorkshire pudding and vegetables to share. The Yorkshire pudding was badly cooked, rather large burnt in parts and rather difficult to cut. Apart from the Yorkshire pudding the main course was good. My wife had pork potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. Her Yorkshire pudding was as bad as mine

Not feeling that hungry I decided to go for the club sandwich in the bar, thinking it wouldn't be too filling.

Fabulous afternoon tea with exemplary service. Our 4 year old son was catered for very well whilst we enjoyed our afternoon tea. The kitchen kindly made him a delicious pizza which went down very well. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon.

Enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea in the drawing room with 7 good friends.Very tentative service and great selection of finger sandwiches ,pastries,scones and cakes.Tea and coffee replenished when necessary.Staff extremely polite and very welcoming.Would happily return again .

We ate here as part of a spa package. There were 10 of us in our party and the table they gave us was perfect. The service was a little hit and miss as we seemed to be chasing waiters throughout the evening for drinks but on the whole the staff were good fun. The starters were mainly excellent but I was disappointed with my goats cheese panna cotta..I've made these myself before and the dish was sadly lacking in any flavour apart from sweetness..I couldn't pick up the cheese as it was overpowered by the sweetness, it looked stunning though!

Wanted to celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary here. Visited Oulton Hall twice and made multiple phone calls. We’re told someone would call us back to discuss our booking but no one ever did.

The restaurant is rather formal and pretentious - I would have described it as nice, if the food quality had lived up to the surroundings.

We had a group meal - I'd guess about 16 of us - and were given a private dining area tucked away in a back corner of the restaurant which was nice. We could speak openly without being overheard which is good for a business group.

Lovely food - accommodating as Gluten Free, well presented meal. The same restaurant is used for breakfast, which again was very good.

There's always a risk that with 100+ people to serve at the same time that, conference and event venues will dumb down on the menu to make life easy for themselves but that wasn't the case when I ate at Oulton Hall. Our party had 15 tables of 8 and the food was delicious - especially the lamb main course which was cooked perfectly and just melted on the tongue! The only let down was that the waitresses (a different one at each course) seemed intent on throwing the plate down instead of placing it - that said, they were quite skilled because despite the rough handling, not a drop was spilt!

What a lovely way to spend the afternoon. Good food, good service and a lovely atmosphere. Parking a little tricky so leave home a little earlier than you think

My wife and I visited on the afternoon of 8 October 2018 for one of the above. It's a lovely venue and an afternoon tea with a difference. The sweets are all chocolate based and two of the four scones have chocolate in them. Our second afternoon tea at this venue and it has been excellent on both occasions. Our Butler for this afternoon was Karim Amrouch and his attention and service were second to none. It's a big thank you to Karim and a well dunn from us to all the people involved in preparing and delivering a first class service.

Had afternoon tea for three and it was delicious. They catered well for our dietary requirements. The service was wonderful and the food was delicious. Left with a little gift as it was my birthday. Loved it.

Visited here on a Saturday evening, not having visited for awhile wondered if it would be as we remembered. It was a not a disappointment. All the food was delicious and well presented and the staff were friendly and attentive.

We visited the restaurant as my husband was staying at Oulton Hall hotel for work purposes.

We were staying at the hotel as part of a wedding party and despite having arranged to come for dinner beforehand as a large group, we experienced terrible service and racist comments from other customers at the restaurant. The waiters did not deliver food to the appropriate people and argued with us about the dishes ordered/stipulated on the menu. Overall not happy with our experience at this hotel and would not recommend in future.

Went with my mother and my daughter. Easy to get to. Wonderful house. Attentive staff. Very nice, but somewhat expensive afternoon tea. Lovely old fashioned atmosphere, Had a really nice afternoon. Says booking is essential but there were not too many there when we went.

Great service and beautiful food. Staff were friendly and attentive. I had a main course of Lamb which was cooked perfectly and the desserts were amazing. All at a reasonable price. Top class evening.

Stayed over at Oulton Hall for hen party pamper weekend. Two of our guests had different dietary requirements ( gluton free and vegan) and these were catered for with their own menus. Food was amazing. Staff pleasant and very accommodating. Would definitely return.

This was a special family get together to celebrate 5 "big" birthdays and it more than fulfilled our expectations. The Yorkshire Afternoon Tea was magnificent, sandwiches, quiche, wraps, scones with jam and clotted cream and assorted cakes including, most importantly, fruit cake with Wensleydale cheese. A real treat for me, an exiled Yorkshirewoman. Service was impeccable and staff were friendly and welcoming. We ate outside on the terrace and were given as much time as we liked to enjoy our meal.

A quick stop for a drink and a bite to eat on our journey back south - or so we thought!

It was a really warm Sunday afternoon when a large group of us met up for afternoon tea. I had phoned ahead, as I am very limited in what I can eat, to make sure that they would be prepared for my visit.

We stayed at Oulton Hall for one niight. The Hotel was grand. Nicely decorated and furnished. We dined in the restaurant. The food was very good.

Oulton Hall is as near to perfect as you can get. The restaurant has an intimate feeling created by the dark wood, oriental décor. The staff are friendly and efficient and the food is first class. I have stayed in 5-star hotels that were not as good as this.

Great service, attentive friendly staff, the cakes are delicious, cheese and fruit cake was a nice addition, nice selection of teas, great ambiance. I had not visited in over 10yrs that I almost forgot how good Oulton Hall is.

Booked for a 74th birthday. A beautiful building and interior. Decent value afternoon tea, food was tasty, fresh and staff were very friendly. A very pleasant way to spend a couple of hours.

We took a friend for a special birthday for afternoon tea, we were very well looked after, and all 4 of us made to feel special. Food was plentiful and well prepared & presented.

all the chefs must have been well trained as have NEVER had a poor meal here, everything is cooked to perfection, well recomended.

Had a meal here during a family reunion and the meal was excellent , the staff were very helpful and attentive and interacted well with the diners.

I had breakfast while staying at the hotel, and was delighted with everything. Food was of a high standard. Waiters and waitresses were very helpful throughout. Will return shortly to take advantage of dinner bed and breakfast promotions.

We are currently staying at Oulton Hall for 4 nights for my husbands birthday.It is such a lovely place we don’t want to leave , we have already existed our stay and have booked a Christmas package stay here . That is how nice it is you just want to keep returning. Your whole stay is a lovely experience created by all the members of the hard working friendly staff and the historic building and beautiful grounds. We bring our small dog with us and the staff always make a fuss if her , it is so nice to find a dog friendly hotel .We had dinner in the restaurant for the four nights and it was amazing, atmosphere beautiful, staff excellent and the food is divine, you leave so full and happy its superb.The spa facilities are very good a couple of hours in there just glide away leaving you felling regenerated and pampered.Now that we have found this little place of tranquility we look forward to returning time and time again .Thankuou everyone there for delivering an awesome experience Lisa and Mohan room 354

We had a lovely afternoon tea today - a birthday present. The food was delicious with attentive and friendly service. It was served in the drawing room which has a mixture of comfortable chairs and low tables. Great views of Oulton Hall gardens on a good day but unfortunately it was raining this afternoon ....

Classic decor and wonderful choice of food served by courteous and helpful staff. Our large party were cheerfully accommodated and nothing was too much trouble.

We booked for weekend break, Dinner and breakfast.The food was super, the service outstanding. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Sometimes you forget that there are great things on your very own doorstep. We do not live far from Oulton Hall and by chance we had Sunday lunch in the restaurant. (The £25 set menu). Excellent! Not any special occasion just a regular Sunday lunch.

We ate from the table d'hote two courses less than £30 and enjoyed it very much. Pigeon breast starter was beautifully cooked, mains of sea bream and chicken both very adequate. Not fine dining, but better than bistro. Knowledgeable and helpful wine waiter introduced us to a new wine too.

the surroundings and service are lovely, but unfortunatley the food is quite average. have eaten here a few times each time hoping it will be better, but no improvement yet.the last time was with a party of 26 and we all thought it was cold.

My Son & Wife bought us this as a Christmas gift wow totally brilliant. The quiche and the beautiful sandwiches were so lovely, 2 scones each with cream and jam, cake and cheese beautiful, and 2 cakes each extremely filling and so beautiful, also as much tea as you would like. Every attention was given to our comfort the staff were really amazing thank you.

Stayed here for a night on our anniversary. Very relaxing hotel with good facilities. The spa area was very clean and relaxing. Will be visiting again.

Busy but efficient staff soon made the guest feel at ease. Lovely surroundings. Wide choice of interesting dishes using quality ingredients. Evening dinner very good and the limitless buffet breakfast offered everything. One comment please, please fill the pepper mills !!!

Visited on our wedding anniversary. The staff/service was great, readily replenishing the coffee and milk. The finger sandwiches were a good selection and the warm quiche was very tasty. An excellent variety of cakes and scones also were served. Not rushed to vacate table and nice thoughtful gift of tea selection given as a present.

Had a three course meal as part of a Living Social deal. Chose to eat in The Calvery Room, which is quite a formal restaurant. The deal allowed us three courses up to the value of £28. ( Some choices incurred supplements. We dud not choose these). We managed this and had quite a good choice. I had Mushroom and Tarragon soup, Poached Chicken with green beans and couscous and a choux pastry style dessert. Although the portions were not huge, the food was beautifully presented and the flavours were delicious. The waiters were attentive and very friendly. Wine was £5.50 for a large glass which is what you would expect to lay in a restaurant like this. A good way to spend a Friday evening.

Took a family member for their 50th birthday for afternoon tea in the drawing room and can defiantly recommend it to anyone! The whole presence is amazing and the food and staffs were impeccable. The grounds are beautiful and all staff were welcoming!

A great night in the champagne bar, we were well looked after by Lee and Max, the cocktails were fantastic, we sat at the bar and were very entertained and impressed watching these guys work,

We stayed for a two night deal with a bottle of wine & meal on the first evening.

My wife and I attended the Chloe Tate charity Ball at Oulton Hall, Leeds on Friday 15th July 2016, and we had a fantastic evening, the food was excellent as was the service, the organisation of the event was perfect. However, as we had not brought our mobile phone I asked at reception if a taxi could be requested and was met with a resounding & curt 'no' from the male gentleman on reception, without a 'sorry' or anything else for that matter. We had spent quite a lot of money on drinks during the evening and I was taken aback at the abrupt manner of the male gentleman at the reception desk who 15 minutes earlier had been been quite happy to take my substantial payment for drinks purchased in the hotel's bar during the evening. I would not recommend this establishment for anyone who may be expecting some slight degree of assistance from the Oulton Hall Reception especially from the very morose and unhelpful gentleman who was in attendance tonight, it spoilt what was then an enjoyable evening.

Meal out with colleagues, the food was very good but pricey. The wine was also excellent but expensive. Service was very good. I do feel you are paying a lot for the ambience. Lovely hotel in large grounds.

Had a lovely afternoon at Oulton Hall for my Dad's 90th birthday. The food, service and surroundings were exceptional. Thank you to all the staff for the cake and candle and present for Dad.

We have eaten here a few times while staying at Oulton Hall and have always had a nice meal. The service is great and it has a nice atmosphere.

Today we had afternoon tea for 18 people. It was booked for 19, a phone call was made to reduce the numbers but this hadn't been passed on. The food was lovely, nice finger sandwiches, cake, scones and fruit cake with a choice of tea or coffee but was over priced really at £23 per person. You are paying for the location and surroundings not the food. Service was excellent. We had pre ordered some special requirements such as no mayonnaise with the egg and plain ham sandwiches but this had not been passed on so we had to wait whilst this was resolved. I would certainly return, perhaps to stay over and use the spa as a couple.

Surprised and disappointed wit such a poor evening meal at this lovely hotel. Starter of Asparagus was tasteless-no dressing on the salad. Main course very average with a thick, constituted gravy. Dessert, poor.

We were there to celebrate my sisters 70th Birthday, 11 of us in total. Warm friendly atmosphere in beautiful surroundings. Good selection of sandwiches and cakes, and provided boxes for any left overs. My thanks to all the staff who were all so attentive, they made my 87 year old mother feel like a Queen for the day. Enjoyed by all !!

Lovely hotel great staff lovely food only minutes away in a taxis into the centre of Leeds so no hassle with parking and one way systems!!! Stayed at out on hall 4 times and every time it gets better and better love the cocktail 's in the champagne bar !!! We stayed in a superior room well worth the extra money !!! Lovely spacious rooms and lovely toiletries!!! The Calvery grill is a lovely restaurant and great food and really good service even when their was a large wedding on ,the service was still excellent

Amazing food, friendly and polite staff. The service was very professional, clean crisp table cloths and though it's a big busy restaurant it doesn't feel that way with the layout. I had the prawn and crayfish cocktail to start, the lamb chop for main, my partner had the olives, balsamic and bread starter with and I actually remember what she had for main as she looked so stunning in her new dress. The restaurant staff did provide a small birthday cake for us as a complimentary gift. It was a lovely hand made vanilla and strawberry cake.

stayed at hotel on a spa dinner bed and breakfast, menu was extensive food was of a high standard from starter to sweet, delivered by friendly staff especially David who was warm professional and very knowledgable about the food and the hotel, saw him on breakfast too, very helpful. Room was well decorated and very roomy it was busy but food was quick and very hot .
