Great value for money. Stayed in a family room. Very clean, decor lovely, well equipped with hot beverages, biscuits, bottled water & toiletries. Tv & sitting area. Great central location, friendly helpful staff, lovely breakfast & just really good value for money. Definitely visit again if in the area. Car park next to hotel £2.50 for 24 hours.

I stayed with a colleague in the hotel and we chose to eat in the restaurant but really after all that was a mistake, the restaurant was run by inexperienced staff and the service was generally lacklustre and slow, my colleague ordered King prawn skewers which were not King prawns and not cooked and my chicken skewers were no better then I could rustle up at home. My main course of a mix grill was just barely okay and my colleagues flatbread although looked appetising wasn’t as advertised and the whole thing was distinctly average. There must be better places to eat where you can rely on some decent solid service and some much better food and all three tables around ours had issues and problems last night so just be aware that it seems like a very very hit and miss place

I don't think I've been so suprisingly disappointed in a venue for a while. The main course was adequate but the menu was more complicated than it need to be. The deserts were limited and a rip off. There was no atmosphere in the place and on the whole it was a bit of a dump. I presume it was designed to look tired and someone has a door fetish. Won't be going near the place again.

Sunday Lunch wow menu could have been written in the seventies.... Starters..Soup, Prawn cocktail, Melon, Garlic mushrooms, Bruscheta. Main roast beef / pork Salmon in parsley sauce, Stroganoff or veg options mac n cheese or nut roast Dessert Jam sponge, cheesecake or brownie. Feel like I'm back in seventies again Bruscheta lacking in flavour...Beef tastes like it was bought in ready cooked, veg minimal and not pleasant roast spuds soft no crispness at all. Possibly the least appetising Sunday lunch I have endured in a long time. Sorry 41 used to love it when Craig was on board.

We ate here the weekend before lockdown and came back the first weekend they were back open. The place is set up to be very calmly safe and hygienic- the 2 waitress were brilliant. Ok so the menu is paired back but I guess that is really sensible at the moment. But my veggie wife had a fabulous looking flatbread dish and I had the chicken which was delicious. We will be back next week, and hope that places like 41 stay profitable and open - we need you in Driffield.... good luck

The restaurant was very cold, we should have left straight away. There were only two other people in there on a normally busy lunchtime - warning signs? Some items on the menu were not available and the manager didn't seem to care about customer service or any special requests. They were very rude and so we finished our drink and left. We had a fantastic lunch in Wetherspoons at less than half the price - it was very busy and a great atmosphere - and warm.

The last time we ate here was November 2018 - 41 used to be the place we always ate and drank in Driffield as there are so few options especially for vegetarians. We stopped going as the menu and the chief changed and the food was bland, tired and; in a word “sad”. 4 of us went back last night and were genuinely keen for the food to be good. It was better than that it was brilliant- what a change. We ordered 10 dishes from the small bites menu and a burger. Whereas before the prawns were old and tired these were fresh, full of vibrant chilli and wonderful feta. The humous was lovely and served with flat breads, mussels in a wine and cream sauce were so tasty. The salad bowl full of sun dried tomatoes and even my veg medley was well cooked and full of flavour. The house red has always been great value and we will be back to enjoy a bottle or 2 when we finish Dry January. Yes it was a quiet Tuesday in town but the 2 waitress were kind and efficient and friendly and just nice. Honestly Driffield has so few places to eat these days - Forty One you have won back some very happy customers. Kylie and team deserve the towns custom. Thank you and see you soon. Jules

Hotel 41 was one of my favourite go to restaurants in Driffield and I have written a review before on how fabulous the place was! But in December I took a friend for a meal and I was actually embarrassed how bad it was. The service was slow and waited for 20 minutes just to order a drink! we both ordered a burger which was so hard it was uneatable! I always order the mac and cheese as a side and say it the best ever, this time it tasted like it was out of a tin. Not sure if the place had changed hands or new chef but I won’t be rushing back in a hurry!

We came here with friends for an impromptu catch up. Having been for drinks, we had not been for dinner before and were surprised by the menu. I opted for the chorizo and bean stew to start with, and my husband the beef in tomato sauce. We followed this with mixed grill(him) and souvlaki for me. Even managed to squeeze in a dessert: posset for me a d a trio of ice cream for him. Yummy food and nice atmosphere. Will be back to try out more!

Visited this place last night after reading reviews. All I can say is the staff must be writing their own.It was the most terrible place I have ever eaten. Their were four Adults and all 4 meals were inedible. Meat balls were that hard you could have smashed the glass with them continental meat platter, was warm dried up meats cheese was warm and my stomach paid the price through out the night. the chef seemed like he was on some sort of wiz if his food was more like his dancing round the kitchen perhaps things would improve. Never again would we visit the place.

What a total shame. We travelled from Cheshire 9 of us, to share a family lunch. The waitress was doing her best, the food appalling. Not 1 of the 9 meals were acceptable. The food, cold sea bass, ravioli like rubber, flat bread stale, chips arrived after we’d finished the sandwiches, the chicken burger!!! A white roll with a chicken breast in. Burnt onion rings. The chef told the waitress to walk slowly as only half the food was ready. The food stud under the heat lamps for a long time. We could see it.

We visited as a family last week to enjoy some well overdue time together. We thought Dorty One would be the perfect place to eat given it's reputation. We ordered our roasts and were disappointed when they came. The vegetables were sparce and sorry looking. The mash was incredibly dense and the meat awfully fatty. We ate our meals and politely declined desert, saying we didn't particularly enjoy it. This comment was overlooked by the server. As we were leaving some people came to check into the hotel and the woman who showed them around didn't even take her coat off! (Hers, not the customers!) She rushed away whilst the older couple struggled to keep up with her with their suitcases!

The table we were allocated had the most uncomfortable chairs possible. We were able to change tables fortunately. The table were were moved to was not clean. It appeared to have marmalade on it? We ordered drinks which arrived quickly. The server did not know how to operate the iPad order system and her knowledge of the menu was poor to say the least. She had to keep asking in the kitchen. When the food arrived the presentation was good, but, the dishes the hot food came in were cold and there were no spoons to serve with. At no point during the meal did anyone ask if everything was ok only after. The chunky fries were soggy, some of the dishes were tepid and the fish cake coating was dry. The other dishes were acceptable. The two servers seemed more interested in looking on the NHS website about pregnancy related problems on the screen behind the bar than paying attention to customers. Overall I was disappointed with our visit.

Multiple issues with food on this visit. One meal was a black pudding and sausage stack, this was totally raw inside, the sausage meat was cold, pink and pliable. This was unacceptable the waitress was told by the chef the dish was fine but it wasn't. Another issue was that a small child in our party was possibly made ill by our visit. Lastly the final issue was undercooked chips on another dish. All in all the staff were polite but seemed unwilling to deal with any issues. Whilst this went on we were informed by someone else at another table that they had the steak pie and this was also undercooked. Very disappointed this place has the opportunity to be excellent.

I am always a little worried when an eating establishment puts everything outside apart from a menu - this time it wasn't too bad - inside a bit of unexpected interior design, very quirky and not usually found outside trendy city areas - the lunch menu was heavily burger and pulled meat loaded , but the staples included soup of the day - tomato - and steak pie and chips which suited me along with a large glass of Australian shiraz .there should be a size warning on the soup - very tasty and homemade along with a brioche bun and tablet of butter - but endless - it's a very deep bowl - the steak pie came with large home made chips - the shiraz seemed a bit bland but a shake of pepper on the pie livened the taste of the wine by bringing the flavours out moreI did think that £20-20 was a bit over the top for a soup and a pie so I dropped a star off the review - just seemed about £6-00 over the top

Although the restaurant is trendy designer chic with tables made out of re-cycled steam engines or other ludicrously heavy bits of metal, the food is rather good. The kitchen is semi-open and the team doing the cooking seem to care about putting quality food on the pass. Very poor overall experience-nobody came to take our drinks order-when food eventually arrived, the plates, veg dish, potato dish and drinks wouldn't fit on the table-food was cold-small amount of roast pork and ham-no desserts offered-had to request the children's ice cream which was part of their meal-charged for children's drinks which was part of their mealAll in all very poor service (and it wasnt busy) and disappointing food. Wouldn't go again

I booked a table at 41 as a birthday treat for my daughter, we have eaten here before and although the food is nice the service was so slow that it put us off for a long time. Well things seemed to have changed!! It was mothers day, a day that is usually overcharged and underwhelming not so on our visit we were seated and offered the drinks menu and a very nice set menu for lunch, even if you had 3 courses it was only £15.95. The quality of the food was superb the service was excellent and the New Zealand Sav even better. We will most definitely be back. Keep it up guys Driffield needs this place Ps I forgot to say the puds are to die for

Went to hotel 41 as we had heard good things about their Sunday lunches and we weren't disappointed! Service was good and they were friendly. Our starters were soon with us and were very nice indeed. Our mains came out and it was great even our 5 year old ate most of his meal and had an ice cream to finish it off. Well worth the money as well!

I still remember the different things this place used to be as I grew up opposite from the now 41 Hotel and Restaurant. It was a surprise to see how it has changed.Went for Sunday lunch and it wasn't really that busy, although we had made a booking.Service was friendly and the decor was something that catches the eye. Not the sort of decor you expect from a more premium hotel and restaurant for this area, but it was very different. Once you learn that it was made from all old material, it's amazing to see how its turned out. But at the end of the day, its the environmentally friendly factor that is behind all of it. Food was great. All you would expect from a Sunday roast, with Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes and the trimmings. As it was close to Xmas, there was also turkey on the menu.I went for the topside of beef, and as it was topside of beef, I wasn't expecting too much, and it was as expected. We also took dessert, it was a nice. I was surprised to see a range of desserts more suited to the summer than a British winter.Overall, a very pleasant lunch and afternoon enjoyed with friends.

Ok so first I ordered a drink with no ice and it came with ice, easy mistake to make and it looked like a nice place, although the starter I ordered was beef with noodles and the beef tasted soggy and cheap and the noodles tasted like those packet noodles you can buy then add water to soften only they added a bit of spice instead of the chicken powder. Couldn't eat it as it just wasn't nice it was bland and cheap not worth £6.50 so I tried to share it around the table ha.I then ordered the steak well done as i can't eat uncooked meat at the moment with being pregnant and it looked great with onion rings, vine tomatoes, mushrooms and chips that came very hot in a separate aluminum bucket (not keen on the aluminium buckets). I wasn't keen on the wooden chopping board the food was served on i dont think they are hygienic and you could see previous customers knife and fork marks, the steak wasn't hot, i started eating it and realised it was pink through the middle it was completely rare inside so I took back and explained why I can't eat this, the waitress apologised and offered another by the time it came everyone was finishing theirs so I cut into the steak and it rare again!!! even after I explained my reasons!!!. I returned it and asked them to take it off the bill as everyone else was ready for dessert i was starving I didn't order dessert as I thought if they can't cook a steak through then I don't trust anything else and felt sickly hungry. I won't be going back as I don't trust anythig to be cooked safely, when the bill came I thought they may of taken 10% or something off as a good will gesture but instead there was a starter on there no one ordered and over a £17 service charge. We did not agree to pay for the extra starter and the service charge. When we gave the money to pay we were owed about £8 change that someone from the table said they were still going to leave as a tip for the waitress as none of this was her fault, anyway we did not receive our change to the table to leave for them they just kept it. By this point it was about 8:30 and I just wanted to go home and eat so didn't bother saying anything. Thanks for reading hope you have a better experience.

I visited Forty One just over a year ago and I wasn't impressed with the long wait we endured and the service. However, me and my husband visited again last night and we were thoroughly impressed. The waitress was lovely, and the wait wasn't long at all despite the restaurant being very busy. And when the food came it was fantastic, probably the best Driffield has to offer! Great night with great food!

I have not eaten here since it reopened but when we decided to go on our works Christmas meal, I was a bit apprehensive. I didn't need to be. The staff were excellent and the evening was lovely. The theme was retro and I was greeted with a snowball cocktail while the rest of the party arrived...once seated we enjoyed creating balloon animals and musical statues as each table competed against the others. The food arrived in a timely fashion and was excellent. I enjoyed lentil and carrot soup, salmon with a wide selection of vegetables followed by honeycomb ice cream. All were delicious. As I result I will be returning to sample the main menu,.

Having read other reviews I thought it would be worth giving Forty One a go as a change from our usual family 'get together' restaurant. So glad we did. I had read that the food was good but the service hit and miss, well we got a 'hit' as the service was good and we didn't have to wait longer than you would expect, for our order to be taken and the food to be served. I had the pork and pancetta which was very tasty, nicely presented and quite filling, but thankfully not enough to prevent me from having a desert!! Seven of us had three courses and no-one was disappointed. Hopefully the poor service in the past has been put right, because from our experience, we will be back again.

Decided to give it a try for Sunday lunch. We both ordered a starter, prawn cocktail, which was beautifully presented and very tasty, although not a huge portion. however, the roast beef was delicious, a bit pink for my husband and I thought he would complain but it was the best beef we've had in a long time. We were given very generous portions of vegetables and potatoes. which we couldn't finish. The Yorkshire puddings were thankfully homemade and very light and crispy. It was very reasonably priced although we thought the drinks were a bit pricy for soft drinks. we will definately visit again. The service was excellent and as we went around 2 pm, there wasn't much of a wait for our food.

Quirky little place, only went in because Wetherspoons a few doors down was too busy to get us all a breakfast in a reasonable time. Table tops were old doors, with a glass top bonded to them. Sounds great til you get your food, when you discover that slidy glass surface and slidy china plates = you chasing your dinner around the table trying to keep it still as you cut it.Breakfast was pretty good quality food to be fair, but by some margin the smallest 'full English' I've had in a long time. One (chipolata) sausage, one rasher of bacon, one egg, small handful of beans, but they did let me swap toast for fried bread which many places refuse to serve you now. HAS to be just two stars because of the unbelievable delay - our table of six were the only people in the whole building, but it still took forty-five minutes to get breakfast. The 'Free Wifi' was so slow we were better off just using our phones data connections

Visiting our family in nearby Nafferton we decided upon a late lunch/early evening meal at the 41 restaurant. We were eating in glorious isolation, probably because of the time of day, so we had the full attention of the staff and did not experience the delays apparently endured by the other reviewers. Yes, the service is somewhat leisurely but who cares when you are savouring a decent bottle of wine while you wait. And the wait was worth it.We began with a shared starter of baked camembert with warm crostini type bread which was delicious (and filling), and which we avidly devoured without being aware of what was to follow. I have to say at this stage that I am not a burger fan by choice, but I was persuaded to give it a try. If you think that you know all about burgers, think again. This was a mountain of tasty ingredients to complement the steak, and a challenge to eat it all, but I managed. My co-diners had sirloin steak, and pork and pancetta, which looked equally appetising and I am told thoroughly enjoyable. All in all it was a good dining experience and one which we will repeat the next time that we are in the area. In my opinion this is currently the best that the town has to offer.

I visited the restaurant recently with friends and having never been before, generally thought the place had a good vibe to it. We all had cocktails which were fab and when the food came, all of us were impressed with the presentation and quality. Unfortunately the staff were terrible. There were four members of staff stood near to the bar on two occasions looking totally disinterested and blatantly talking about customers and laughing behind their backs. They obviously thought they were being quiet about this but not quiet enough seen as myself and my friends overheard them. Totally unprofessional! The food and cocktails being of a decent standard would have swayed me to return here for a meal but unfortunately the staff's rudeness has put me off. If the staff here continue to behave in this manner then they will undoubtedly lose custom!

We've been here a few times as a family and the food has always impressed. I would highly recommend the sweet potato fries. However even when we have been the only people in the restaurant, we haven't had the food served in less than 40mins

Not much in the way of atmosphere as it is a bar with food and hotel upstairs. The choice was typical of a better bar food menu but not extensive. The service was friendly but terribly slow.

I would like to tell you about a meal at Forty One, however, we never even got sat down.We were on a rare day off and decided to give the place a go as we had heard the food was OK and we're looking for a new eating place in Driffield. My partner was also looking with a view to holding one of her girl group Christmas parties in Driffield, so this was a bit of a recon mission. We walked in and saw the large board at the entrance stating "Please wait, you will be shown to a seat. No waiting at the Bar". I thought this a little pretentious, but "Hey-Ho" I know a lot of places do this now.........in London or York, but NOT Driffield. We caught the eye of a member of staff who nodded and said "Just a minute". And we waited..........and waited.........and waited.........and waited. Now if they had been busy, fair enough, but there were two staff at front of house and about 5 tables of couples. The staff continued to ferry drinks from the bar, take orders and completely overlook us..............stood there like naughty pupils outside the headmasters study. Then they came to the bar again, made up some more drinks and ferried them to another table. All that it would have taken was "Please take a seat and I'll be with you in a minute" but no, better have us stood there like morons. So we left. And won't be going back again. Because I am the customer. You should be trying to entice me in. Welcome me. Make me feel valued. Make my party feel comfortable. And you failed in every department. As you will notice, I stay in hotels all over the country and eat in lots of different hotels and restaurants. And I repeat yet again....... "There is NO excuse for poor service". It's just poor management and bad staff training.

We went on a quiet Sunday afternoon out of season because the previous review said they allowed the dog to go inside. I asked if we could take the pup in and sit out of the way in the corner. The lady said no sorry I don’t allow dogs in at all.

We had lunch at The Potting Shed with family. This was a return visit, and we think it’s the best garden centre restaurant in the area. Soup was carrot and coriander (delicious, could’ve eaten more!), sandwiches were very fresh, and the haddock and chips were delicious. Restaurant is very clean and well laid out, tables not too close together. I’m sure we’ll be back!

This cafe is now called Miss Bs pantry. Very friendly ladies and delicious food. As a coeliac myself I have to have gluten free. This is very well catered for here so my partner and I have visited on numerous occasions.Various selection of savoury dishes and cakes. Lovely latte too. Well worth a visit.
