Visited Filey today and wanted Fish and Chips. What a stroke of luck to come across Dicky Bees, takeaway. Had one cod chips and peas and one cod chips and curry. Wow the fish was as good as we have ever had. Large meaty with a nice batter, not too thick. The chips and sides were tasty. The cost of £21.00 or both I didn't feel was over the top for the quality and quantity. Next time I visit Filey I will be going again.

Best fish n chips in Filey if not North Yorkshire. We ordered cod ( my wife is allergic to haddock)and chips to take away. The fish had all the skin removed and was cooked to perfection. Best tasting fish n chips we’ve had for a long time . Cooked in beef dripping I thing Perfect!!

This fish and chip shop has been recently taken over. As residents in Filey, we were keen to offer business again, after the former Dicky Bees recently closed down. But oh my, what a disappointment... Flat fish (but nice batter!), a miserable portion of soggy chips, and packet curry sauce (made badly) with HUGE lumps of powdered gunge, and so salty and concentrated that it was inedible. What really finished it off was that the poor guy in front of us bought a huge amount of food, yet had to ask for a bag to take it away. Just why??? The woman serving seemed like she had lost the will to live. Not a great start for a business just starting, and we were less than impressed with every aspect. We won't be back - ever!

A party of 10 friends descended on Filey on Friday evening. Having frequented Dicky Bees as a child, a significant number of years ago I suggested the gang had Fish and Chips from here. We rang first to make sure they could fulfil a large order so close to closing time, to be told that we could ring our order back through to them once we had decided and it would be ready for us when we wanted to collect at 6.15. We were on the doorstep at 6.10 and the very friendly ladies were ready to bag it up for us, with lots of smiles and plenty of laughs. Everyone in the group thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The haddock, chips, peas and curry sauce (don't knock the peas and curry combo til you've tried it, it's a taste sensation) were exceptional, just like I remembered.

We came here just before closing, the lady checked and had some fish left. This put me off slightly but how wrong was i, cod and chips absolutely beautiful, one of the best iv had up YORKSHIRE. And if the owner is reading this, give them girls a pay rise, they work really hard and are a credit to your business.

Went here, on a recommendation from a leaflet left in The Bay, at Filey accommodation. We had 4 pieces of fish x 2 large chips and two sausages for the children. Utterly vile, overdone to the point of nearly being burnt (everything). Fish was dry, and greasy at the same time, which I would of thought. Would of been difficult to acheive. There is a fish and chip shop near Boots on a corner, the fish there was lovely, that I had earlier in the week, should of returned instead of going to Dicky Bees. Also no one is allowed to go in the shop but is issued with a raffle ticket to stand on the pavement for a considerable length of time while it is being cremated. Go elsewhere.

It’s was a busy day in Filey so we went off the beaten track to this place as we thought it would be quieter (it was) and we’ve always enjoyed it here. Queuing system works great, got good promptly and the Cod was great but the chips were overdone and disappointing. As a previous review said plenty of them but would have preferred more quality and less quantity.

We had cod and chips takeaway. No issue at all with the fish. The cod was tasty and a good size and the batter was nice and crisp. The chips were something of a disappointment. True there was plenty of them, too many in fact, but they tasted greasy and a little soggy. One or two of them were quite raw. I would much have preferred better quality and smaller quantity. By no means terrible but not a meal to get excited about.

Our first visit but sadly disappointing. Considering the fish is cooked to order the batter was very thin which meant the fish was very over cooked making it very dry. Fish size is good but batter needs to be more fluffy. Chips tasted good but portion consisted of not many decent sized chips and lots of scraps. Will stick with Ingham’s and the Brown room in future as they are better quality.

We've been going to Dicky Bee's for years now. We always try to stop there for dinner en route to our holiday destination and we've never been let down. There is a tiny cafe at the rear of the shop, where we sit and relax. The fish and chips are gorgeous, tasty, crunch batter - not too crunchy though - succulent fish and the mushy peas are perfect. Very reasonably priced and the staff are always lovely. Highly recommend this superb local chippie.

Following recommendations we found this little gem in the back streets. Opened since 1932 (good start) this lovely tradicional chippy has a little extension built at the back for “eating in”. With 4 tables and a capacity for 12 people it’s just great. We came with children and it was FREEZING outside so the sitting in area was just what we needed. The staff were really friendly. The fish... well... yum! Crispy batter, delicious cod. It comes with mushy peas a pot tea and buttered bread included in the price . What a lovely touch. The children’s portions were also huge, my boys had fish goujons which, really, they were just smaller versions of our adult meals. I can not fault it. Served with a smile. Do not hesitate to come here. It’s a gem.

We were looking for somewhere for a quick bite and came across Dickie Bees whilst walking from the Brigg Caravan Park to the town centre. It's just off the town centre but easy to get to and worth the effort. At first sight the shop looks like it's just a take away chippy but on entering the door to the small cafe area is straight ahead. Deciding on a sit down meal with a cup of tea we entered the cafe and were met by a friendly young lady who told us to grab a seat and she would be with us shortly. First impressions were good, the compact cafe area was spotless. Within a couple of minutes a large plate of freshly cooked cod and chips was delivered to a fellow diner. A real plateful!!!After placing our order for two small haddock and chips (with a portion of mushy peas to share) the waitress delivered our pot of tea, cups and additional water + the brown bread and butter. This was followed quickly by fresh fish and chips. All went quiet whilst we tucked in to our lunch and what a good plate of food it was! Fish and chips like grandma used to cook! After clearing our plates and emptying our tea pot we prepared for our continued walk in the rain suitably nourished and still enough change from a £20 note for scone and tea for two later in the afternoon!!!!!

I was told the owners are relatively new, two adults and two children, service was good nice and attentive, however food came, two fish and chips, fish and peas, jumbo sausage and one curry sc, the peas were very nice, the fish was over cooked quite dark in colour with the skin on, the chips were warm and not hot and crispy, the jumbo sausage came with batter on? and the curry sauce is very different quite runny with sultanas and sml cubes of apple not your usual curry sauce to be expected.i have marked it as average due to it being clean and the staff were friendly, we are from preston/blackpool and our fish doesn't come with skin on, nor when we ask for a jumbo sausage does it have batter on, maybe its just us but why do any other chippies outside of our county serve fish with the skin on?this could be a nice shop, but the owners need to learn how to fry properly, and serve the best produce they can, not just dishing chips out if they have been sat around, learn to fry to your needs and if items are to be battered then say so and i would recommend a standard curry sauce.price was £25 with tea and soft drinks

Every time we come to Filey this is where we get our fish and chips. The battered cod is lovely, the batter is so crispy and moreish! I now rate all other fish and chips against Dicky Bees- it's hard to beat!

If you like lumpy mashed potato, tasteless veg and watery gravy, you will like this place. I have never seen a more sorry looking carvery in my life.

My son has a dairy allergy and often has to settle for sorbet when at an ice cream parlour. Truly Scrumptious gave him an amazing choice of dairy free ice creams and toppings. We wouldn’t normally have 3 ice creams in 3 days but he was just so excited that he had choices, how could we not??!!

We had a lovely lunch with family today, enjoying the view from above and the sunshine. However, when my food was being served, the sizzling from the oil in it landed on my husband's coat. When we asked for the bill, I explained the situation to the lady, who by the way was the person who served us the food, and she barely apologized. I would expect a better handling of the situation...

Rude staff with the worst food hygiene standards I have ever seen. I have reported to the local council and Environmental Agency. How they have a 5 star hygiene rating is beyond me, I imagine their last inspection was a long time ago. During our visit, it was extremely quiet, and when asking to order specific items from the menu, it was as though we had asked for the world. Eyes rolling and complete attitude. Avoid at all costs.
