The best restaurants serving British food in Micklegate York Yorkshire and The Humber

Great cafe used by everyone, you don’t have to be on a motorbike to get in. The car park gets busy on weekends and Friday bike nights, but there’s usually somewhere to get in.

The food was fantastic but the best part if our dining was Sir our waitress,she was an absolute delight. She couldn’t have done much for us.

We booked a family meal here for over twenty adults and children, on Easter Sunday. From our initial enquiry, nothing was too much trouble. We were asked to give them notice of the meals the week beforehand, which is logical with those sort of numbers. We were greeted warmly on arrival, and at all times the atmosphere was lovely, and the staff were friendly and efficient. All food arrived promptly, was absolutely lovely, and was piping hot. The young children were dealt with impeccably, even down to getting little tubs of ice cream for dessert. We cannot fault The Plough and the staff on any part of our experience, and can only state that they were an absolute pleasure to deal with, coping with every change and problem we faced them with without batting an eyelid. We can recommend them wholeheartedly.

Fantastic food and Alexcellent service. My wife and I had the Thursday fillet steak meal but started with the belly pork (the best I have ever had) and the pea and wild garlic soup, which was also delicious. The steaks, cooked to perfection as we had requested and accompaniments were perfect. Service throughout was excellent, especially with Alex who was very proficient and a good laugh! Altogether, a great evening and we’re looking forward to our next visit.

Great place to park with few cars (presume down to the cost of £3 p/h). Loathe to visit again although not for the cost but 3 hrs maximum. As a Grandma of 2 under 2yrs meeting a friend with 2 under 4 I wanted a relaxing day consisting of a walk around the lake, having a picnic & playing in the play area. 3 hrs do not cut it. At least make it 4hrs. I would also ask York Council why the car park is so empty? Increase the stay & reduce rates even by 50p & get it full; will bring in more revenue than 5 cars paying I saw.

We stayed in the attached Premier Inn and ate both dinner and breakfast in this restaurant. The breakfast was you typical Premier Inn breakfast. It’s worth mentioning that everything on the buffet was crisp and fresh, which can’t be said about every Premier Inn breakfast. The dinner was delicious. Prices are really good if you bundle it with the breakfast.

Great place in the city centre for any meal time. They are especially good at lasagne and Indian dishes, fish and cheeses are traditionally good. It is better to take a set with drinks, the choice of drinks is extensive. You should download the Wetherspoon App - convenient, clear, inexpensive...

Quiet drink watching footy but was quite busy and noisy

Have visited this venue on Sunday afternoons for the last few weeks. Excellent service, good choice of wines and beers, friendly customers, very comfortable seating and log burners make it an enjoyable experience. Fully recommend

We turned up 30 mins before closing and as such there wasn’t a full menu available but the very polite and patient gentleman behind the counter sorted us all out with chips/whatever meat options were available/buttered baps/curry sauce / gravy, even though we were drunk and annoying. Curry sauce and gravy were great, chips were good, and we all enjoyed the some scraps on top as well. I’ll be back to try the fish and chips… albeit at an earlier hour. Big shout out to the server who dealt really well with our inebriated nonsense.

Great beer and service would def recommend!

Visitó con su nieta para participar en el evento de artesanía de otoño. Fuimos a almorzar y aunque solo era una patata de chaqueta cada uno con una olla de té ... estaba delicioso! Las patatas eran muy suaves con pieles crujientes servidas con ensalada crujiente fresca. El mío estaba cubierto con sabroso atún cremoso y nieta tenía frijoles quesos, comimos y disfrutamos mucho cada bocado. Mi elección de té fue Earl Grey y era hoja suelta tan llena de sabor. Pedí una olla de agua caliente para acompañarlo y poder disfrutar de otra taza... y no fue ningún problema. Con todo, un tiempo especial encantador con mi nieta . . ¡Volveré! .

El Brunch Wagon es fantástico! La comida es deliciosa y la señora y el chico que nos sirvió son muy amables y serviciales en la toma de decisiones del menú. Esta fue nuestra primera visita a este encantador vagón de comida rápida en el mercado de Shambles. He caminado tantas veces, pero esta vez necesitábamos un bocado rápido para comer antes de tomar un autobús a Thirsk. Los dos rollos de tocino que pedimos pronto se sirvieron, absolutamente delicioso y mucho tocino. Grandes precios también. Muy recomendable y no dudaría en ir de nuevo. Bien vale la pena una visita si estás en York.

We have spent many a happy few hours in this lovely restaurant. The food is cooked to order and is very good quality. Service is always with a smile.

La pizza estaba deliciosa! ! Buen y amable servicio, ambiente relajado. Definitivamente lo recomendaría.
