The Longboat Pub in York

We stayed in the attached Premier Inn and ate both dinner and breakfast in this restaurant. The breakfast was you typical Premier Inn breakfast. It’s worth mentioning that everything on the buffet was crisp and fresh, which can’t be said about every Premier Inn breakfast. The dinner was delicious. Prices are really good if you bundle it with the breakfast.

We had dinner it was outstanding plain simple dinning the restaurant was clean and friendly sally Elle were our waitress very pleasant polite and curtsy so nice the food was outstanding haddock and chips mushy peas the haddock was a good size tasted amazing fresh the chips had there skins on which added to the taste and the price was very good

Beautiful food, please try the knickerbocker glory. Friendly and lovely atmosphere

Great evening. Food, drink and atmosphere excellent.

My wife and I had meal on 3.4.24 a very poor dinning experience. We had to wait a hour ,had drunk our cokes while waiting . My meal beef and ale pie chips and peas. The was no beef in the black goo called pie peas like mini golf balls. Waitress who dropped beer bottle with thousands shards of glass under the table. The bill when it came was not ours . To be told sorry that was for the table before you!!!!. Not once did did we hear " how was your meal". Faulty Towers has nothing on this place. Avoid Avoid is my advice.

Easy to find location, large restaurant with plenty of seating. Service was excellent staff where very friendly and helpful, was easy to book online and get a table at the time we wanted. Food was as described, portions were plentiful. Decently priced. One of the better Table Table restaurants we have eaten in over the years. Would highly recommend. Will definitely return when we come back in the future to York.

Fabulous lunch today at the longboat restaurant. Food was amazing as always, and so was the service. Dawn put some lovely daffodils on the table as I told her it was my Sister's Birthday! A really lovely touch.

Such wonderful service, everyone is so kind and attentive. Great food at great prices. Thank you so much for making our visit enjoyable.

We had Sunday lunch which was very good. Everything cooked to perfection. We also had a meal Tuesday night. I had Vegan burger because I can't eat dairy. It was really really good. My husband had a trio of pies. He said he really enjoyed them. We were served by Hannah who was working very hard and doing an efficient job of taking orders, doing drinks and serving food.

A warm friendly pub with great food at great prices. Hannah & Imogen made us feel really welcome nothing was a problem, worth a visit

Arrived Sunday 25/02/2024 - 2.30. We had a very good meal ,drinks were priced well ; surroundings and service excellent ; but this was due to Hanna . She welcomed you ; served at the bar and even served your meals . It would of been a different review but for Hanna . Well Done

continental was great, cooked food was all bland and watery. had veggie sausages cooked to order with was great and probably the only edible cooked food there. service was non-existent, apart from the chef who brought my sausages who was lovely and polite. sat us on a tiny table right next to the front door despite lots of other 2-seat tables being available and having booked in advance too. seemed a bit disorganised, and they didn’t even check if you had paid they just relied on you telling the truth, so if you’re looking for a free breakfast go for it. stay away from the eggs unless you have no teeth or taste buds. lots of cross contamination too

Sampled breakfast and dinner, food was good, service ok and a quiet atmosphere, so no complaints, would go back.

I didn’t get chance to book a table for my first night, a very abrupt, unpleasant young lady, (tall, dark hair, ponytail, sour expression) who appeared to be (a very ineffective) front of house took great delight in telling me that a table would not be a available for 2 hours, I duly booked for the next evening, I was eventually shown to a table, and then waited 45 minutes for a simple starter of garlic and herb mushrooms. Greasy and the mushrooms were undercooked. I wouldn’t normally have waited 45 minutes, but I had prepaid. My main course was haddock and chips, again underwhelming, tiny amount of peas and took forever to be served. Breakfast service however is a different story. Dawn was front of house every morning and was a delight. Efficient and friendly, I cannot praise her highly enough. The food was beautifully cooked and there was plenty of everything.

Came here for dinner while on business. The food was exceptionally fresh and tasty ( must better than I expected ) on top of this the service enhanced my experience even more by the manager Hannah who is an asset to your business and Michael who is also a credit to your business both friendly, professional and attentive. Looking forward to my next 2 nights here.

This is definitely the best place for breakfast in York that I’ve found You get a lot more for your money than pub chains The staff are very friendly and everywhere is clean and tidy I’ve been a lot and wouldn’t consider going anywhere else

Went to the restaurant for Sunday lunch 07/01/24. Restaurant was very quiet for a Sunday which was a concern to me. However, after a small issue at first, all my worries where proven wrong. Hannah and her staff were very attentive to my requests and extremely friendly and courteous. The food and value for money was way above my expectations. A good supply of vegetables meat and the gravy and Yorkshire puddings was excellent. Thank you Hannah and your team for giving me a pleasant early Sunday afternoon, Alister

We had been filled by our pervious booking at another pub/restraunt we called The Longboat where we traditionally go each Xmas but had unfortunately chosen otherwise. They had a booking. The staff especially Sally were lovely, great to talk to and lively. The food was amazing and nothing could be improved. It stopped a bad evening on Xmas Eve from getting ruined and we were extremely happy with every aspect of the service.

Excellent service friendly staff. Nice atmosphere. Lovely food. No rush, will come again. Happy Christmas!

A group of friends & I went for a Sunday lunch, had the “Trio of meats” a lovely meal couldn’t ask for anymore! If you’re looking for a great Sunday lunch look no further! Excellent staff at the Longboat too!

Popped in on the off chance, willing to accept there weren’t any free tables despite having 15 tables of 2 empty.. we were willing to sit in the bar area for food. Went to bar for drinks to barmaids busy talking to someone they clearly knew ignoring me for 10 mins.. I stood there waiting for a drink.. and a food order. Prices are extortionate a chain with staff who don’t care. We went 5 mins up road had fast serve and a good night. We will never attempt this restaurant again. It’s a big chain who think they can treat their customers poorly

Waited several minutes to be seated although the host had just taken 2 through before us. Took drinks order pretty quick but then Waited a good 15 mins for 2 x g n t 's to arrive, ordered food, Waited 35-40 mins, before asking if there was a problem with kitchen, waitress went to ask , came back and said it's on its way out, 8 mins after food was cold congealed cheese, gammon cold .complained!

I came in with some family, was greeted at the door, all the staff was lovely and was served drinks by a lovely staff member I believe she was called Tia. Would definitely recommend. And will be returning again in the future.

Have been in York for a couple of days now for an anniversary and the all the staff members we had met were very lovely, this particular staff member had served us the past 3 nights we were there! Came in for my birthday meal was greeted by the lovely Dawn she had gone to the trouble of decorating our table with birthday banners and a card and box of maltezers from Team Longboat food and service by Dawn as exceptional as always highly recommended for a dining experience 😀

Called in for breakfast this morning, the restaurant was very busy and seemed to only have the shift manager and 1 member of staff working! However, the manager was very friendly, informative of how breakfast works, veggie options etc, and asked if I had any food allergies etc. Very impressed with the breakfast but more so, the hard working team, consisting of 2 members of staff. They were very efficient to say how busy the restaurant was!

The place is well worth the money and couldn't fault it in anyway the food is excellent and the staff are something else can't believe there's so many people in one place as mannered as them thank you and sed you soon

My family and I went to the Longboat restaurant this morning for an unplanned breakfast & wow what a great experience! When we arrived the restaurant was so busy so we thought getting a table would be slim as we hadn’t booked but the lady at the front was so lovely and friendly, she accommodated us all without much of a wait! Even though the restaurant was busy, the girl (with the red hair, sorry no name badge) who was clearly on her own relaying all the tables was brilliant, so quick and efficient! So if you are ever thinking of having an unplanned breakfast look no further, 10/10 - Well done ladies, a credit to your company!!

Me and my family called in for lunch today and we waited inside the door for 10 minutes while 5 staff members stood there and ignored us. We weren’t even acknowledged with a hello or even a smile. We then decided to leave and we we were leaving one of the managers shouted “sorry” but by then it was too late. She had a very bad attitude and didn’t even seem sorry when she said it. Normally we are served by the lovely Dawn who gives us excellent service every time. We are regulars here and this was very disappointing so we just left and went elsewhere.
