very busy on Sunday afternoon,carvery quite good,only downside is the sauces are never full,ok they get them when asked,but the wait time is too long,your meal is cold by the time it’s filled and brought from the kitchen. So I will knock one star off for that.

Myself and my other half particularly enjoy coming here for a Carvery. Good choice of meats and accompaniments that you’d expect with a Carvery and that ensure you come away feeling satiated.

The staff were really friendly at Pear tree Farm.

Absolutely great, had a small carvery and it was all very well cooked and piping hot, Would definitely recommend and will go again.

Excellent evening meals and breakfast

Very light and airy. Plenty of space around tables. Got a large carvery - excellent choice, but feel very full now. Ready for a lie down and a little nap! Need a walk around nearby monks cross before home. Recommended!

Very rude staff.. Young guy behind the bar was smerking because my friend and I ordered the same food.. So rude. Manager was stood at the side of him and didn't say anything. Food was ok but nothing special. Will not be returning.

Firstly staff were lovely, helpful and friendly but menu choices for vegan and gluten/dairy intolerant very limited. The bean burger was dry & hard to swallow. I wasn't aware of this until afterwards as our party member was too polite to complain - but it was awful. The carvery was great quality but had several items not suitable for gluten/dairy intolerant. We live in Wales where our local carvery uses dairy free butter as standard so everyone can have mash potato and they also offer dairy free Yorkshire pudding on request. Other members of our party enjoyed their meals but wouldn't return when visiting York again due to lack of choice.

We were warmly greeted at the door, shown to our table and asked if we were happy with it Room was warm, clean and nicely decorated for Christmas, good choice of drinks at the bar and the carvery food was hot and fresh. The in-house cakes for dessert were superb. All the staff were smiling, friendly and helpful. Will definitely return.

Went for Sunday lunch with the wife and mum. The food was great once again. We was looked after by Louise. This lady is an asset to the company. Thank you.

Had dinner here whilst staying at the Travelodge opposite. The waitresses were friendly and welcoming. We both had the standard carvery at £8.99 each (weekday price) which was amazing value considering how much you get. The place was clean and tidy with a nice atmosphere. Couldn't ask for more. ☺️

Breakfast buffet all you can eat , cracking offer . Good price and food quality good . Nice and quiet too so you can sit have a cuppa , a breakfast ( with seconds ) and get some work done too

Me and my family come here often and every time we are greeted with welcoming smiles amazing food, without fail the carvery is outstanding every time and a great service, not to mention the cakes are out of this world.

Christmas Carvery very good. 30 of us in the party all happy.

The staff did not take feeling of customer in to mind kept opening fire doors and letting cold air in Lack of stock on drinks and desserts I know it was just after xmas but this was not acceptable Bar staff very slow even a very quiet times and wandering around in there own little world while customers stood waiting Cutlery was dirty fork was all bent and twisted Cutlery pot was all rusty in the bottom When meals arrived nobody was asked if they wanted and condiments or if anything else was required

Food was great and service very friendly. The only thing I would say is please don't assume that just because we came in with a small child (4years) that we want to be seated near the play area - just ask. As it were, we were taken straight through to the table closest to the play area, which was incredibly loud, naturally. However, our child is calm and would have been absolutely fine in the rest of the pub not disturbing any of the other guests. For us the noise level really was very unpleasant and we would have never chosen that spot given half the chance. We will learn from it though should we come again we will specifically ask for a table in another area. Food was super tasty though 😊

as usual only 2 choices of meat....the waiter was rude and didn't give us our sausages we paid for....he had dropped the ticket on the floor and argued that we hadn't paid ....then found it, didn't apologise ! We sat near play area as we had a 21 month old. 9/10 year old kids running rampage around the under 5 play area, throwing large plastic toys with force both inside and outside area amongst tables. No staff intervention. Table staff snatched up two drinks off table and had to be called back as our friends had gone to loo. Kept attempting to take plates aswell when some of our party were still eating....we won't be back....

Don't go here if you want a good vegan meal.

Lovely service, very friendly staff and big portions. We got the crispy chicken medley and others in our party got the carvery and the food was all very tasty. Would definitely come back.

We book for boxing day meal at pear tree farm monks cross york, for 5 adults and 3 children weeks ago. We arrived today we were taken to our table from then downhill from then. We wait for half-hour for 1 starter then we could all get our carvery dinner it was disgusting we left most of it on the plate we waited for then to clear the table after nearly an hour after tell the waiters 3 time to clear them in the end we had to clear them. Then got the deserts after waiting another 40 mins to be disappointed again all of them disgusting none of us ate them. We were VERY disappointed 😞 we won't be coming back again!!!

Very good Xmas eve meal for 14... Staff were very busy but kept things going.. service was good as again they were extremely busy.. the atmosphere was good but lots of kids about but it was a day for families.. I would definitely go back..

Christmas carvery for 4 on Christmas day. A change for us to go out Christmas day, and wow was it worth it. Very friendly and efficient, food was superb and the portions were huge. The carvery choice was amazing. At the time of writing, the desert had to be packed up to take away, again service was amazing. We had an amazing meal. We will definitely be back. Thank you to Sully for the drinks and to Aaron for a perfect service.

A GREAT PUB VERY CLEAN SERVICE IS OUTSTANDING WELL RECOMMENDED

We went to the breakfast with Santa this morning. All the staff that are running the event are incredible, but 5 stars to the man with blonde hair (didn’t catch his name but he was doing the tickets and other things). He made my son’s morning extra special despite how busy he was! Santa was amazing, one of the best we have seen. Looks the part and very chatty, we didn’t feel rushed at all and my son enjoyed his conversation with him. Will be returning for another breakfast with Santa next year!

Yorkshire pudding, on the small side and cold, veg chewy and uninspiring, Turkey and carrots was nice but the roast potatoes (I love the most) were inedible, the worst roast potatoes I have ever experienced, shockingly poor, very dry, rubbery, and really let down my meal. Been quite a few times and never had such a poor meal and never had chance to say anything negative until this evening

Excellent! all round visit.This was our second visit in two days.This visit was for our son's birthday. Friendly welcome by the manager Sam, who joined two tables for our family of six to sit in comfort & provided us with the required menus. I also placed our orders @ the bar for all required foods & first drinks, again with Sam who was most prompt & efficient throughout. The variety of all the food was also excellent throughout, very tasty & well presented, again with friendly efficient service.Equally, all the variety of drinks were enjoyable, as always. Altogether, a very enjoyable experience throughout.

Cole and Vicky ( Coles mum) made our night. They went above and beyond to make us smile, their a credit to the team, super star service.

Service was slow, staff at the bar talking while looking at us waiting, an Carrid on there conversation. Food came, chips were over cooked and rock solid all potato was non existent in my fries, the flavour of the burger was great however probably the only thing that was any good, the coleslaw had a wierd taste and is bubbling on the plate after 5 minutes almost like it's past it's date or very borderline. Garlic mushrooms... what garlic?? Barley taste any garlic what so ever however the batter was cooked pretty damn well. All in all I give this a solid 1 out of 10 an will not be returning, will also be telling family and friends not to waste there money.. be better of going to maccys, and I don't like blood maccys...

The selection at breakfast was wonderful, and to a great quality. Staff were very friendly upon arrival and made sure our experience was good! Would deffo come back again amazing place for a great price!

was an amazing family friendly atmosphere when we entered, was seated within minutes at 7pm on a Friday night, the bar staff was attentive and was seen to virtually straight away, the ultimate soft drinks are well worth the money definitely ask for them. the carvery itself was very good meats were cooked perfectly and the Yorkshire pudding were to die for. my only issue and this is for personal taste is the veggies were a little too crunchy. tye wait staff were very attentive even bringing us extra gravy when needed and checking on our meal a couple of times would highly recommend this place

Had a very good first time experience at the Pear Tree.

We had breakfast with Santa on Sat 7th, nine of us altogether and first in, won't lie, l wasn't expecting much but how wrong l was. Matt and his team did a fantastic job and the best Santa l've ever seen, he had to be the real one. The service and the way the kids were looked after was first class, even the food was great. Highly recommend 10 out of 10.

Great place for afro hair plaiting, and hair colour, cut etc. Perfect for the Muslim ladies, as one female member is Muslim.

Pear Tree Farm is a food pub, more of a restaurant that sells beer than a pub. There is a good choice of beers lager and cider including a cask conditioned real ale, Greene King IPA which was in excellent condition when we visited. There is a wide selection on the menu but we all decided to have the carvery. The beef was excellent, and there was a good choice of vegetables. The place was almost full when we arrived but we were given a nice table and the service was very quick and the staff were excellent.

Lovely carvery really enjoyed it here. Only thing that I knock a couple of stars of for is the cleaness of the females loos. The hand dryer is absolutely disgusting.

Really attentive and was quick to provide us with a table. Ordered via the QR code and the drinks took a little bit of time but the food was on point. We had steak and it was cooked perfectly to our preference and was delicious.

Great carvery though Toby Carvery still holds the top spot for me! Did initially get seated in the kids play area despite specifically requesting not to be, but this was quickly sorted. Would be good to have a cheaper meat free carvery option for vegans instead of having to pay the same whilst forgoing the meat and veggie pie option.

I would not recommend any family goes here. My family has been a loyal customers to pear tree for a long time, and not till today where I have felt so hurt by the staff. I did not feel well today so I just wanted to have a small mcdonald breakfast while my husband enjoys his breakfast buffet. Once my husband came around and handed me my food. the dark hair lady behind the counter said I can't eat in here even though my husband was about to order his food. After we decided to leave because what she did was cruel. She and the staff around her started laughing at us. I'm already did not feel well today, I did not need to be insulted as well. We didn't mind moving to the back if it really bother the staff that much. What they did was just unkind, and I can't recommend anyone goes here, just with the chance of being treated like this.

Your young dark haired wait staff girl decided it would be a smart idea to laugh at my wife after kicking her out for wanting to eat a small mcdonalds sandwich while I eat my carvery since she wasn't feeling too well and therefore obviously not very hungry. Is the recommendation that next time my poorly wife should eat in a DIFFERENT establishment while I eat my whole carvery alone? Or is she meant to scoff hers down as quickly as possible outside in the car so that she can then sit and watch me eat for the next half hour? We've been eating at Pear Tree for over a decade, with my parents, since I first moved to York, before I even met my wife in the states, moved back over here together, and had our daughter. Pretty sure Pear Tree was the first place my infant daughter ever ate dinner outside of the house. She's nearly three now and adores coming here with our whole family to play in the kid area. We've always been treated very well by the majority of the staff, especially the male manager who has been a star to my family throughout the years (especially my mam who has dietary requirements and often has to bring in her own food or accompaniments such as gluten free bread - which he never had a issue with then, strangely enough). Very heartbroken and disappointed in the treatment we recieved today, and I've already told my family that on principle we'll sadly not be returning despite the years of being a loyal customer. Maybe if you have an issue with somebody doing something you can ask them kindly and with respect, and not just mock the poorly girl trying to eat a sandwich while her husband is literally giving you business. Sad to say goodbye but I guess maybe your staff can do some kind of decency training and turn things around in the future.

Had food there two nights in a row. Carvery first night and the beer battered fish and chips the second night. Enjoyed both.

Great place to feed!...not a pub though...

Nice environment and great atmosphere, service are great, however the food quality aren't the best. We ordered Farmhouse Chip Shop Supper and ultimate chicken combo. Fish batter, and battered sausage are soft and soggy while chicken wings and Chicken strips are overcooked, garlic bread burnt, and the BBQ sauce are too sticky. Menu are very oily and need a good wipe before handling to customers.

We took our grandson for the play area on a wet day and had lunch. Ticked all the boxes.

Very sad, we hoped for a nice afternoon meal, but sadly we got a over cooked steak, but the drinks were not too bad. Over all the staff were okay and the atmosphere is like a farm house. Would recommend going to Whitby for the best steak and best wine ever, but a bit more pricey

Food was good, staff were lovely. Generally has a queue at the bar I find, understaffed? Nice though, a thumbs up for one of these places. Does what I’d expect for the price range. Only part I actively dislike is being handed these QR codes encouraging reviews. Blatantly pushed from some corporate higher up. If you’re that great let the place speak for itself. Maybe I’m old, maybe I’m tired, definitely don’t like expected reviews though.

We came a bit late for all-day breakfast, and at that time, there was no more tomato available. The manager Sam kindly asked the cook to prepare two separate disces of tomatoes for us. Thanks.

Coffee wasn't very warm. Breakfast was OK, could do with warm plates. Nice and helpful team member sully.

Three of us went for Saturday tea before the cinema. It was very busy. The longest wait was to order. One had beef lasagna, one a Tika masala and one a salad. All were delicious!! 😋.

Overall very good ,Ice-cream could be better ,order your own food at the bar rather than waitress service ,lager ok .

It's quicker to go to the bar and order a drink than ordering it using the app.
