Best place in York all round if you have young kids (4 and below), the staff are very attentive. The Christmas grotto and Santa were great. Great value

was an amazing family friendly atmosphere when we entered, was seated within minutes at 7pm on a Friday night, the bar staff was attentive and was seen to virtually straight away, the ultimate soft drinks are well worth the money definitely ask for them. the carvery itself was very good meats were cooked perfectly and the Yorkshire pudding were to die for. my only issue and this is for personal taste is the veggies were a little too crunchy. tye wait staff were very attentive even bringing us extra gravy when needed and checking on our meal a couple of times would highly recommend this place

Great place for afro hair plaiting, and hair colour, cut etc. Perfect for the Muslim ladies, as one female member is Muslim.

We had breakfast with Santa on Sat 7th, nine of us altogether and first in, won't lie, l wasn't expecting much but how wrong l was. Matt and his team did a fantastic job and the best Santa l've ever seen, he had to be the real one. The service and the way the kids were looked after was first class, even the food was great. Highly recommend 10 out of 10.

Pear Tree Farm is a food pub, more of a restaurant that sells beer than a pub. There is a good choice of beers lager and cider including a cask conditioned real ale, Greene King IPA which was in excellent condition when we visited. There is a wide selection on the menu but we all decided to have the carvery. The beef was excellent, and there was a good choice of vegetables. The place was almost full when we arrived but we were given a nice table and the service was very quick and the staff were excellent.

Took our 5 year old to breakfast with Santa, all the staff were amazing and really made the experience amazing for all the kids, well worth it

Lovely carvery really enjoyed it here. Only thing that I knock a couple of stars of for is the cleaness of the females loos. The hand dryer is absolutely disgusting.

Really attentive and was quick to provide us with a table. Ordered via the QR code and the drinks took a little bit of time but the food was on point. We had steak and it was cooked perfectly to our preference and was delicious.

I would not recommend any family goes here. My family has been a loyal customers to pear tree for a long time, and not till today where I have felt so hurt by the staff. I did not feel well today so I just wanted to have a small mcdonald breakfast while my husband enjoys his breakfast buffet. Once my husband came around and handed me my food. the dark hair lady behind the counter said I can't eat in here even though my husband was about to order his food. After we decided to leave because what she did was cruel. She and the staff around her started laughing at us. I'm already did not feel well today, I did not need to be insulted as well. We didn't mind moving to the back if it really bother the staff that much. What they did was just unkind, and I can't recommend anyone goes here, just with the chance of being treated like this.

Great carvery though Toby Carvery still holds the top spot for me! Did initially get seated in the kids play area despite specifically requesting not to be, but this was quickly sorted. Would be good to have a cheaper meat free carvery option for vegans instead of having to pay the same whilst forgoing the meat and veggie pie option.

Your young dark haired wait staff girl decided it would be a smart idea to laugh at my wife after kicking her out for wanting to eat a small mcdonalds sandwich while I eat my carvery since she wasn't feeling too well and therefore obviously not very hungry. Is the recommendation that next time my poorly wife should eat in a DIFFERENT establishment while I eat my whole carvery alone? Or is she meant to scoff hers down as quickly as possible outside in the car so that she can then sit and watch me eat for the next half hour? We've been eating at Pear Tree for over a decade, with my parents, since I first moved to York, before I even met my wife in the states, moved back over here together, and had our daughter. Pretty sure Pear Tree was the first place my infant daughter ever ate dinner outside of the house. She's nearly three now and adores coming here with our whole family to play in the kid area. We've always been treated very well by the majority of the staff, especially the male manager who has been a star to my family throughout the years (especially my mam who has dietary requirements and often has to bring in her own food or accompaniments such as gluten free bread - which he never had a issue with then, strangely enough). Very heartbroken and disappointed in the treatment we recieved today, and I've already told my family that on principle we'll sadly not be returning despite the years of being a loyal customer. Maybe if you have an issue with somebody doing something you can ask them kindly and with respect, and not just mock the poorly girl trying to eat a sandwich while her husband is literally giving you business. Sad to say goodbye but I guess maybe your staff can do some kind of decency training and turn things around in the future.

Had food there two nights in a row. Carvery first night and the beer battered fish and chips the second night. Enjoyed both.

Great place to feed!...not a pub though...

Nice environment and great atmosphere, service are great, however the food quality aren't the best. We ordered Farmhouse Chip Shop Supper and ultimate chicken combo. Fish batter, and battered sausage are soft and soggy while chicken wings and Chicken strips are overcooked, garlic bread burnt, and the BBQ sauce are too sticky. Menu are very oily and need a good wipe before handling to customers.

Very sad, we hoped for a nice afternoon meal, but sadly we got a over cooked steak, but the drinks were not too bad. Over all the staff were okay and the atmosphere is like a farm house. Would recommend going to Whitby for the best steak and best wine ever, but a bit more pricey

We took our grandson for the play area on a wet day and had lunch. Ticked all the boxes.

Food was good, staff were lovely. Generally has a queue at the bar I find, understaffed? Nice though, a thumbs up for one of these places. Does what I’d expect for the price range. Only part I actively dislike is being handed these QR codes encouraging reviews. Blatantly pushed from some corporate higher up. If you’re that great let the place speak for itself. Maybe I’m old, maybe I’m tired, definitely don’t like expected reviews though.

We came a bit late for all-day breakfast, and at that time, there was no more tomato available. The manager Sam kindly asked the cook to prepare two separate disces of tomatoes for us. Thanks.

I have had great food here but last Friday teatime it was not good.

Coffee wasn't very warm. Breakfast was OK, could do with warm plates. Nice and helpful team member sully.

Overall very good ,Ice-cream could be better ,order your own food at the bar rather than waitress service ,lager ok .

Three of us went for Saturday tea before the cinema. It was very busy. The longest wait was to order. One had beef lasagna, one a Tika masala and one a salad. All were delicious!! 😋.

The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with friendly staff who make you feel right at home. It’s a great spot for a family meal or a cozy Sunday treat. Highly recommended for anyone who loves a hearty, traditional carvery done right!

Some staff outshine the rest. One of these who gave great service and support was Daniel, a great asset to the company.

Love this place but today the chicken currently was really poor. 4 small pieces of chicken in the dish.

I went here for a family meal and later on my uncle had to go to the hospital to treat food poisoning! It was something about the vegetables in the carvery, possibly cross contamination with raw meat. Will not be coming back here.

Me and my partner were looking for something for dinner. We drove past this place on a previous day and said we should check it out. It did not disappoint! The steak was cooked to perfection and the beef and ale pie was delicious. Well worth the cost!

Overcharged us (even with Blue Light discount). I only queried it because it seemed a lot for you what we had ordered. I pointed it out and we were refunded the difference (the manager blamed it on the staff member who served us). Service was reasonably prompt. Both had fish and chips. My fish was fine but my wifes was brown (see picture). Both portions of chips were luke warm. Doubt we will return.

Booked a table online, was greeted by a friendly member of staff and shown to a table in the adult dining area. Unfortunately the table was right underneath the air con which was on full blast but not a big deal. We ordered our drinks at the bar - bar tender was great, very friendly and happy. We ordered our food via the app a short while later - food didn't take long to arrive, around 25-20mins. My partner ordered the gammon steaks and was happy enough with his meal. I had the bean burger and unfortunately it was pretty clear it hadn't been cooked properly and someone had just chucked it in the microwave for too long. The outside wasn't browned or cooked and the burger was rock hard to the point I couldn't even cut through it with my partners steak knife! I ate the lettuce and fries and left the burger as it was completely inedible. Unfortunately a check back only happened once we'd finished our meals. On arrival we quite liked the look of some of the puds but at this point we were quiet put off and left.

Had the vegan bean burger. Service was good no issues with that, food arrived fast and when I made them aware of the issue responded quickly and kindly. The bean burger arrived and was the hardest burger I've ever had the misfortune of biting into, no way I could eat it. Staff member went to request a fresh and mentioned that it was new on the menu so maybe the chefs don't know how to male ot so well yet. Okay.. Bit weird like, it's a breaded bean burger... they generally in a place such as this come from the freezer to the oven. Anyway, the second one arrived and it was the same situation very dry and edges of the burger were liken to a brick.

Had to ask for the table to be cleaned. Mix up with ordering drinks. Waiting staff didn't know about dishes. Had to go and get own children's menu. Food adequate for price.

Came here after attempting to go to a local Sizzlers pub which was awful. When we arrived we were greeted by a lovely lady with a friendly smile. Service was quick, efficient and courteous. This would have been a 5 star review however you ran out of roast potatoes on the Carvery 90 minutes before you stopped service, we also couldn't have dessert as we were incorrectly informed of the kitchen closing time however one of the lovely staff did arrange some takeaway options for us that we could dine in with which was appreciated. Would happily return again. Ps the gammon & turkey were delicious.

Myself and my daughter love visiting here. We're not very good with crowds so usually go just before the lunchtime rush so that we can choose our own table. We order on the app so we don't have to queue and everything is delivered to the table. The food is great and there is always just enough.
