Service was appalling. Table Service only and bar staff were more interested in having a blether and they had the cheek to add 10% Service charge. Otherwise it seems to be a pleasant restaurant. Bar staff let it down. I think they knew we weren't happy. Second gin was served in a scrawny glass with one ice cube. Decided not to eat here.

I recently stayed at The Churchill Hotel in York and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The rooms were decently spacious, providing plenty of comfort for a relaxing stay, and the bathroom facilities were a standout—modern, luxurious, and immaculately clean. The concierge service was quick, friendly, and incredibly helpful, always ready with a smile and solid recommendations. One of the highlights of my stay was the staff’s support in planning my visit—offering insightful suggestions for touring York and its historical gems, which added so much value to the trip. Location-wise, The Churchill couldn’t be better placed. It’s just a short, pleasant walk into York’s vibrant city centre, yet also ideally situated for easy access to the North York Moors and the coast at Whitby, making it perfect for both city exploration and countryside escapes. The only disappointing aspect was that the images of the rooms shown on their website did not match what I received. While the room quality was still very good, I would urge the management to update the images to more accurately reflect the various room types and layouts. Overall, I highly recommend The Churchill Hotel to anyone visiting York. The combination of comfort, service, and convenience made for a wonderful experience, and I would gladly return on a future visit!

Bold and whimsical decor lend to a very fun vibe, but the food is mediocre at best. We didn't order drinks, but I think that's what they're known for so hopefully those would be better. The staff was very welcoming!

Arrived at 6pm table was booked for someone else at 7pm food times I was told was 20 mins so no issues with 40 mins to vacate. However it got to 7.40pm and no show with the food. Moved to another table in a dark corner. Steak was not great as cold. Not a great experience tbh Tang Hall Chav central loud inside sports screens rough as. Not a classy place lots of family’s with kids screaming. Last time I came was around 2pm I recommend mid week before 5pm. No disabled bays free at the front for me to use just two flatbed trailer vans parked in them look like council work trucks. Better places to go it looks good value and price wise it is but a disappointing meal.

Well we thought we would give this a go.. we had heard some mixed reviews since it has opened but as its local we decided to give it a try on saturday night.. Ive got to say the food was excellent!! the service was great and we couldnt fault it at all.. price wise id say it was fair. worked out approx £25 per head taking into account starter / main / rice/ naan couple of drinks and pickle tray starter but id definitely say we will be going back!!
