Bold and whimsical decor lend to a very fun vibe, but the food is mediocre at best. We didn't order drinks, but I think that's what they're known for so hopefully those would be better. The staff was very welcoming!

Becca at the bar was very kind. Me and my friend told her we were celebrating the end of our Degree and she made the cocktails extra special for us. Thank you for making us feel celebrated!

We came on saturday as a hen party if 19 and our server caiden was an absolute star , he is very friendly and welcoming … always made sure our drinks were full , worked his little ass off ( if that’s appropriate to say) 10/10 can’t fault him … made our experience great 👍 make sure he gets a bonus ;)

Had a lovely birthday brunch here recently. The drinks were good, food was lovely and the view over the river was amazing. Was given the best seat in the house with an open balcony. Our server Eliza was absolutely lovely, couldn’t fault her at all. She was kind and very attentive. X

We called in the Slug & Lettuce for a drink in the early afternoon. The bar was nice and quiet. The bar has a nice spacious feel with views over the river. There was a good choice of draught drinks, but no hand pulled cask conditioned real ales. The price for half a pint of cider and half a pint of beer was £7.40p. The bar is mainly aimed at cocktails and food. I haven't tried the food, so I can't comment. The drink prices are highway robbery, at least Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask!

Our bottomless brunch was amazing! We were served by Kaydon and he was such a great host, every drink served with a smile and he was on it all the time, food was unreal and this was the best bottomless I've ever done! Thankyou so much Kaydon keep slaying!!!!!

The food was awful and rock hard, took a bit of our drinks then the food was at the table. Really wasn’t impressed. We should of eat at weather spoons much better quality

Had a bottomless brunch with friends today at the York location on the riverside and it was so amazing, food was amazing, the biggest shoutout I can give to Eliza who was our server for the afternoon. She was soooo attentive to our drinks, needs and all round great hospitality care. I have never been to this location before but Eliza was a fab server!!!

My steak was almost raw. I had asked for medium. I couldn’t eat it. My husband likes a rare steak but it even put him off. Plus all the food was lukewarm. The young woman that served us was lovely though.

Absolutely terrible food! £38 for two microwaved chicken meals and a coffee. Told the waitress how bad the food was and we were told to enjoy the rest of our night! Awful experience!!

This spot has amazing views of the river Ouse and the food and service and staff are excellent I ordered my food within 10 minutes of arrival and they served my food within 15 minutes and it came with bbq sauce.

I'll preface my review by saying that as an Aussie couple who hate loud and gaudy things, we're probably not S&L's target audience. We just wanted somewhere close to our hotel and cheap after a long drive to York, and weren't familiar with the S&L brand at all. S&L was pretty dead on a Tuesday night, so we had no problem finding a table and service was very quick. We had to order at the bar as the QR code ordering didn't like our non-British postcode, but the bar wasn't busy so it was very easy. We loved the 2-for-1 cocktail deal and deal on 5 of the mix-and-match plates; it made for a very reasonably priced dinner. Unfortunately, the food was just okay. I've never seen a fried bao bun until I dined at S&L (normally they're steamed), and I can't say I was a fan. The chicken skewers didn't really taste of anything, while the bravas potato gems had too much peri peri sauce that they got really soggy. The squid was pretty good and the croquettes had a really nice ham flavour, though! Did it do the job? Yes, but I reckon I'll give S&L a miss next time. It's definitely not my kind of place.

Solo queríamos un lugar cerca de nuestro hotel y barato después de un largo viaje en coche a York, y no estaban familiarizados con la marca S&L en absoluto. S & L estaba bastante muerto un martes por la noche, así que no tuvimos problemas para encontrar una mesa y el servicio fue muy rápido. Tuvimos que pedir en el bar, ya que el código QR no le gustaba nuestro código postal no británico, pero el bar no estaba ocupado, así que fue muy fácil.
